Thank you very much for sharing this. I was looking for more of live videos of Luther Vandross. Do you happen to have "I'd Rather" by Luther Vandross? live version? For me, it is the best song from the best voice of all times!
Too Proud to Beg wasn't released when this was recorded. BUT..... I was at the Hollywood Bowl when he did sing it, and it was UNREAL!!! It was damn near 23 mins because he walked off the stage with the band playing, changed clothes & took his time with it. I didn't bring my recorder because I was too close to the stage. I'm hoping that entire show is released on Blu-Ray one day.
There's still hope. I know his Mama wanted to release several dvd's of his concerts, but she passed away & nothing has been done about it. Now who handles his estate, I couldn't tell you. I know his nephew has said that they're working to get some concerts released, but who knows?
Actually, this version of Here and Now is strangely uneventful. He must have lost his voice. He does not hit the high notes. True professional. I miss his presence on the music scene.
Which makes it all the better, because his voice was fried throughout. And he let the crowd know about it, so he earned more respect that night. In over 90 minutes, he cracked twice.
The way he starts that classic off with a beautiful twist....DAMMIT!!! :)

The only live version of I'd rather that I know of is the one he sang at the Emmy awards ceremony. Search for it on UA-cam it's here somewhere
Wow... I need my ass beat for just now responding. I do have "I'd Rather" recorded live.
" The Gifted One ! "
Stank, do you have the live version of Too Proud To Beg? People are saying he sung it live and it’s the best thing you ever heard.

All I can say is, "wow."

💖💖💖
seems he was having some vocal problems that night but still he pulled through
Second time ever! It is an accomplishment to discover such a rare moment.
jack golden he pulled it off it sounds like to me.
Yeah his voice was raspy during the show. He cracked a couple of times, but no one cared.
Stankfunkmusic74 Hey you pledged to mail me copies of those concerts. ;)

@@Stankfunkmusic74 So I was right. On the Wembley (86) concert a similar thing happened. Talk about dedication.
@@lloyddinma Spot on with it. He had those issues with the drastic weight changes. This is why folks used to want "Fat Lutha" to come out.
I happen to love this version, the way he starts it and the bridge part is a whole song within itself! Classic Luther at his best! Peace!
