My favorite look is the camel pants and black top and blazer. I’m always behind in fashion, but I like dressing up, rather than wearing the athlesure look. But I am 6 months from being 80 years old. That may explain it. I love your videos. ❤
Great ideas; but with the black turtle neck, white shirt, black blazer outfit, I'd wear a scarf or shawl over my shoulders rather than a sweater.

Hello Kay. Great layering ideas. I do like a turtleneck under a button-up shirt. I find it very preppy, yet classic. I think the striped shirt works really well with the plaid blazer. Thanks for the inspiration.
I guess it's too late for me...haha I'm home bound, always quilting, and a bit disappointed in myself but i can't seem to pay attention. I can tell this wonderful lady is spot on, though. Love to all ❤

My favorite outfit of yours is the black blazer/black turtleneck with khaki pants. It's very dressy but it really flatters your figure. I love that you shared your trick about photographing yourself with the tripod, and I've been doing that now for a week or so. It is REALLY helpful to see how things fit/look in a video. I discovered that the beautiful burgundy turtleneck sweater I wore with some neutral grey plaid pants looks terrific in the front view (still) photo, but in the video I did NOT like my silhouette, so switched out the sweater to a blouse. Much more flattering to my very curvy figure. I also discovered that if I wear a cardigan or jacket over the unflattering stretchy top it camouflages the large bust. With belted pants I still look like I have legs (I'm 5'2"), and a waist. Thanks for all the many tips, Kay!

Some interesting layering ideas here, thank you. I would find layering a jumper as a final piece over a blazer or coat looks a teeny weeny bit ‘overdone’ and uncomfortable. Think great over a tee shirt in the summer. The black jumper and blazer over the tan trousers looked lovely.
My favourite outfit would be the last one:
Wide leg trousers, long sleeve close fitting top and the hoodie vest!
Looks casual and very compfy, but very attractive.
I would immediately wear it and will definitely look out for a sleeveless hoodie.

My favorite from today is the camel hoodie with your pink pants and sneakers. I frequently wear new clean sneakers as my go-to shoes. My favorite (and they are affordable) is Saucony Jazz Classic. My recent pair is royal blue and I get many compliments, especially from younger women 😁.
I love mixing prints. My favorite combination is a small floral patterned button up blouse under a striped crew or v-necked or even Henley neck pullover; shirttail either tucked in or peaking out under the sweater. The J Crew Liberty print shirts look really great this way. A striped mariner pullover looks great over a print shirt with jeans.

I love the layered looks but I run too warm to pull most off with the exception of the vest! It’s my go to for layering! I like the first look with the Henley top, striped shirt and plaid blazer. I do like to add a scarf as a layering piece. Would love to see a video on different ways to add color and texture with scarves😊 Thanks for all you do to keep us Dressed for our Day Kay!

I know it’s really on trend because I’m seeing it all over UA-cam, but I just can’t get on board with the sneakers and dress pants. I think it looks like you got lazy and just grabbed the only shoes you could find. Haha

Ahh, when you get arthritis in your feet you will understand why one would gratefully turn to shoes or boots with support for your feet!
It depends on the sneakers. They need to be clean and somewhat “modern”. Then it’s a comfortable, cool trend. I’m 65 and I’m ok with a little “cool” in my life. Lol😊
I think the sneakers with pants are fine, but it did take me a while to warm up to the look! If you are going to be running errands and doing a lot of walking, nothing is better than sneakers.
I live in a city and have no car, so I walk at least 4-5 miles a day in all weather. Love hiking boots in the city!
Oh my goodness! The early 80’s are back! I used to wear a turtleneck under a polo shirt under an Oxford button down shirt under a cardigan (or drape a sweater over my shoulders. Preppy! I love it!That being said, I remember being very warm and I know that I would absolutely die from overheating today (even in below zero temperatures).

Cropped tops/sweaters (or tucked in) forever! Wearing long tops hanging out visually cuts the body into two equal halves, it’s not a pleasing proportion. Plus, long tops give a brick-like shape to the body and completely obscures the best of our shapes.

Kay - I appreciate your modeled outfits from different stores and price points. But oh my! I love the cashmere hoodie but cannot invest that much in one item to be worn so few times. How many viewers purchase extravagant clothing?
I don't, but I appreciate that Kay doesn't say any of these items are "affordable ", like so many UA-camrs do.. Many people can't afford Talbots or comparably priced stores. She says the items are "reasonably " priced, which I take to mean the price is reasonable for the quality of the item. Makes much more sense, and doesn't insult her viewers who are on tighter budgets.
I agree. I have to really love an item but I still probably have a lower clothing budget than many. Especially now when trends seem to come & go so quickly.

Picking my favorite is hard to narrow it down. I know I already enjoy wearing matching completer piece to shirt color. And for my favorite new idea would be styling the pink pants with camel! Never thought of that!
I appreciate how the length of your pants is perfect. I am 5'6" so shop in the regular women's section & often pants are way too long. I don't feel I should shop petite.
Really cannot get on board with the wide leg pants, especially those that are in a light colour. I can't help but think they look like a mans traditional Dutch costume without the clogs.🙆sorry Kay.
I agree. The wider style that I stick to are the Talbots “Barely Boot” jeans in a dark wash.
I wouldn’t wear a sweater over my shoulders over a coat. It looks strange, and not sure what its purpose is. A striped scarf would be my choice. Great video!🇨🇦❄️🇨🇦
Thank you, Kay. I always like your outfits. I have many similar pieces and can duplicate those looks. I remember when I was a child, women used to wear black turtlenecks under white shirts. It was sort of a "Beat Nik" kind of look. It is an interesting look and very nostalgic for me. I need some courage to wear that again. It looks great on you as do all the outfits here. I loved the camel slacks and black blazer outfit the best. This year I bought a pair of red slacks from Talbots and now that the holiday is over, I am wondering about wearing them again. ;-) I used to have "shocking pink" slacks but I never wore them, so I donated them. I like your camel top with them, it is fun looking and toned down.

I love sneakers with anything and hoodies are a great layering piece but the pink and camel were my favorite idea. I have a bright pink sweater that I want to style with brown or camel pants now. Thanks for the tips. I dearly wish I could afford Veronica Beard but I will find a less expensive jacket.
Although I’m not one to purchase bright pink trousers, I was surprised at how well they worked with the camel sweater. This layering video is timed well, as here in the Pacific Northwest, the current weather is cool in the mornings, but warming up during the day. Layers are so important with this weather, as you can strip them off as it warms. Thanks for your great ideas!

I love black and tan, so the black blazer/black tee/tan pants outfit was my absolute fave. Thanks for the tips on how to wear vests. I’m definitely pear-shaped and really felt that vests were not for me, but now I can see some options. The pink pants outfit was fun, not for me because of my proportions but I liked it on you.

I do like the 1st outfit with the stipes and plaid. Looks modern. With the other outfits the ones with the blazers are more me and the other are too casual for my style even though I am retired, I really enjoy my blazers. I am a blazer girl! I like the pink pants and you putting them with camel is fine for you, but I bought a blazer, cashmere sweater and vest in the camel last year and ended up getting rid of them. Camel washes me out. I was thinking that I would do navy instead of the camel for me. I think this would work. Your thoughts on this idea? I am not too crazy about the sweater looped over the top of coat or other top. I know it is a preppy look and I do like preppy and wear it sometimes, like mixing prints but the other look is too messy for me, and it would end up falling off me ont the ground etc.

I noticed that Japanese street wear is taking a sweater layer and wrapping over one shoulder, under the opposite arm and tying. It’s an interesting stylish look. Also, the Veronica Beard Blazer has a zip in denim insert that resembles a jean jacket without the bulk.
Hi Kay. Thanks for these layering tips. The chambrey shirt outfit is my least favorite. It just looks so frumpy to me. I agree with a previous comment about sneakers with dress pants being a no for me. And, the sweater draped over the coat makes no sense to me. I would just use a scarf instead. If you are out in snow, your sweater will get all wet if it is on top of your coat. Lastly, I wear layers for warmth (I think that is the primary purpose for layering), so leaving everything open (unzipped, unbuttoned, etc) as you have done in most of these outfits makes no sense to me at all. Just my two cents. Everyone should wear what they feel good in. Thanks for the video. 😊
Agree on all your points ! A sweater over the coat ?? 🤨 There's something about draping a sweater over the shoulders , w/ or w/out a coat underneath , that suggests " getting dressed in public " 😂 if you need to put it on for warmth . A scarf is a nicer , more flexible accent either over or under a coat . 🥰
Great layering ideas! I like the different layers under the blazer as long as you have a looser fit in the blazer. For the blazer look with the sweater draped over the back - it is a little too much for me. I’d probably just wear a scarf.
I think you asked what we thought of the pink pants? Not so much for me. Maybe a pink jean , but I’m not a fan of wide leg polyester pants of any color for casual. I don’t like tennis shoes with them at all. The preppy sweater over the shoulder is a cute look, but feel it looks like I really tried! Lots to think about tho, and I appreciate your bringing options so we can choose for ourselves. Thank you

I really liked looks 2 and 3. They were very practical and wearable something I would wear.
I like the clothes and looks you show, but it is hard to invest money in clothes when most of the world looks like they don't care about looking good!

Some great ideas however the pullover sweater worn like a scarf seems silly. It may look okay from the front but not complimentary from the back or side view! Just my opinion!

Hi Kay, I love your style and watch/listen to you everyday. I am about the same size as you, but a little hippier. After 3 C-sections in my younger years I have developed an apron belly that seems to be getting more prominent. I love the look of tucked in shirts, etc., but when I do that I end up either changing my top or leaving it untucked because I don't like the way it makes my stomach appear large. Do you have any suggestions for me?

I love the blazer and the black turtleneck top. I enjoyed all of the layering techniques too, for example having the tied sweater over the shoulder. I am not a fan of sneakers at all, but I am probably in the minority on this one - I would rather see a pretty flat or kitten heel. Also the madewell pants looked off sizing to me- they were bulky and long. But I like the layering ideas, thanks
I loved the plaid blazer and the vests. I tried buying some wide leg jeans but had to return them. I’m 5’10” and thought I could get away with it but just couldn’t. They look too voluminous to me and that’s why I’m not a fan of the wide leg pants in the last outfit. I always learn something from your videos, so thank you!

Same here, and widely cropped pants look particularly awful on me. Usually way too short. Just above the ankle might work but hard to find for us tall girls.
I think I would like black worn with the pink pants..or even navy. Loved the striped shirt layering. I can not get on board with the wide keg trousers. They buckle at the shoe line and in my opinion..add 20 lbs to your figure

This apple shape viewer is afraid of any layers that don't flow away from the body. I'm 100% certain that that does not really camo my stomach, but mentally it makes me feel like it does. Lots of bad style habits for me to break, Kay. In time, in time. :)
I like the black over tan pants best and then I like the first one with the longer jacket. I find it hard to wear the cropped or shorter vests, jackets, etc. I'm busty and so its out of proportion for me to wear cropped tops, plus they seem to hit right at the problem area. So many of us have lost our waistlines, as our bodies have shifted. The shorter tops and jackets I think really accentuate that and cut us in half visually so that's one trend I just can't go along with.

I understand the concept of layering. However, if you live in a tropical area like Florida, what can you do when you want to just wear absolutely nothing?
Some of the outfits I Personally don't care for. My 2 favorites are black blazer black top Tan pants nude pumps, And Blacktop under white button up tucked in jeans And striped sweater over shoulders. I personally have to be careful with layers though in mid years It quickly becomes too warm. Thanks for the videos Kay appreciate it🙂

I like the layered look; however, I run hot...aka hot flashes so this is difficult for me. Lol. Did I use the comma and semicolon correctly?
I dressed in layers all the time when I had frequent hot flashes. That way I didn’t embarrass myself or anyone else when I had to feverishly strip layers off in a hurry when a hot flash hit! 😂

I’m large busted and I don’t think this layering will work for me. I’m also slim in the hips with thinner legs. I’d love you to do some fashions to help diminish the bust.

I know this has nothing to do with your video today - which, by the way was spot on! But I am desperately trying to find pantyhose, or I think nowadays they are calling them tights. I need nude/tan ones to wear to church. They seem impossible to find that don't run or pick immediately. Any suggestions? I really want some good ones - the legs aren't what they used to be -too spotty!😂

My favorite was the pink pants/camel sweater outfit - the most modern (IMHO!). I felt the others would be difficult to wear, too many pieces making movement more restricted. I don't get a sweater over a coat - surely a scarf would make more sense. I did notice that the camel pants and the pink pants had fold marks - do you fold your pants? You're tall - so it's easier for you to pull these looks off - but man of these would look bordering on ridiculous on a short, round person like myself!
I do not usually fold my pants, but I had put these aside. I should have ironed them of course, but just forgot.
