Thank you for taking the time to note everything and where to purchase along with discount codes. Doing so has to consume quite a lot of time, effort, energy... Please know people like me are very grateful. Especially as I'm unfamiliar with many listed. 🥰🙏
Thank you for being so vulnerable with us on your splurges. I’m the same way you are Kay - my husband says I have champagne tastes on a beer budget. We all may not be able to spend the same amount as you do but we can splurge within our own budgets on things we believe are worth it, and that’s the point I believe you’re saying, Kay. Thank you for this video. I appreciate your willingness to share your tips with us.
Annette here. My splurge item is my haircut! I go to a pretty expensive salon. Bad hair will bring down the nicest outfit and great hair will elevate the most basic outfit! It's worth the extra $$ to me to have great hair every day.
Kay, I really appreciate your being honest that you didn't actually purchase some of these items! Rather, you earned them through your work. I think that sets you apart from many other vloggers and makes you much more credible. I realize people make money doing this work, but I can't support vloggers who are manipulative and sometimes dishonest just to make money off their viewers. Keep up the honesty❤❤❤.
You were so brave to tackle this issue, I am sure the comments will be controversial! I did take notes and intend to try some of your items shared, b-u-t I also know as a retired teacher there were many items far above my fixed budget. As always, your approach was full of style and grace! Thank you!
The point of video is value. Meaning items that stand the test of time. Kay isn’t trying to be materialistic. She is just sharing some quality pieces that have added to her wardrobe and have held up over time.
You rarely regret spending more for real quality since these things tend to last forever. I still have and use woolen blankets that were passed down to me by my grandmother.
Skincare: The best is extra Virgin olive oil. It is the closest oil to your own skin. Does not make you break out. Great moisturizer. Wear at night and under makeup. It's cost effective. Just use a couple of drops on your face. It is a moisturizer women have used for centuries. Can't beat it! Give it a try.
Great video. In the mid-90s I changed investment firms and bought a beautiful black wool trenchcoat. $350 at the time was a huge expense. I still have it and wish I had learned the lesson of that coat and bought fewer but higher quality items like that over the years. Found a VB blazer on Poshmark… It would have been worth it at full price. They are that good.
A Veronica Beard jacket being shown on this video retails for $780.00. Even if we could source this jacket on sale, I would call it more than a splurge. Every item you have shown is very expensive even as a splurge for most people considering the cost of food has risen at least 20% in the last year.
My grandmother, mother, and I have always bought quality, classic pieces on sale that we wear for years. I have sweaters, scarves, and handbags that have been passed down and are decades old. My friend has a gray crew neck cashmere sweater that she bought on her honeymoon 35 years ago and it’s still in style and looks great.
I remember saving up for a black velvet Jaeger jacket in 1980… eventually got it half price in the winter sales. Still has pride of place in my wardrobe. A classic style, and good quality velvet, not a mark on it 42 years down the line
Great video! I tend to spend more on purses and shoes and I sure get my money's worth. I have one pair of Mephisto shoes that match everything and are THE most comfortable shoes I own. I'd rather spend the money on one great item rather than 4 lower quality items that I just never choose to wear. Once at a conference I heard a saying I'll never forget, "Buy the best and you only cry once."
I’m glad you incorporate price-per-wear/use into your discussion. And everyone has her own budget and own idea about what something is worth spending more on. For me, it’s quality over quantity; think of the endless articles about decluttering your closet, keeping only what you love, capsule wardrobes, and so on. I stick to the mantra from my grandmother (whom I’ve quoted before on this site): if one item of your outfit is of unquestionable quality, the other items are automatically assumed to be elevated too. I’d rather people liked how I look than notice what I wore.
I admire your courage! I am 69, and was into investment dressing long before it became a thing. I was working full time, supporting a husband and three children, having to budget for the car I needed to travel to work, and for holidays. So I also saved up for accessories of quality. I have hated advertising any designer, and was into Bottega Veneta handbags many years before it became fashionable - when they were still relatively affordable. I splurged on a wonderful black braided handbag of theirs about 20 years ago, AND I shall never need another black bag. My go-to belt is a tan Gucci one with the buckle shaped like a snake that I picked up in a sale in Leeds 25 years ago. The cost per wear is minuscule… and I had to laugh when their belts with a double G buckle became trendy two or three years ago. Plus, mine is not recognisable as Gucci
I, too, wear sunglasses on cloudy and rainy days, and my eyes are a deep chocolate brown! My eyes are so sensitive to light that sunglasses are a must whenever I’m out and about. When I retired I splurged and bought 2 pairs of RayBan sunglasses! I’ve never regretted buying them, either!
I love the Soma panties. I discovered them a few months ago and I agree that they don't show panty lines. My biggest splurge was a pair of Golden Goose sneakers. I wear them often, so the cost per wear makes them worth the splurge. Your Coach handbag is lovely. The cost is no where near the designer handbags and shoes that many fashion influencers present. I will need to look into the bedding products. I like the fact that they provide more fabric to tuck into the bed properly. Thanks for your video. I really enjoyed it.
I have owned Boll & Branch sheets for 5 years (about) and they are so soft. I am older than you and my eye doctor found the beginning of macular degeneration in my eyes, she told me that I needed to wear sun glasses all the time to slow the progress. I am now after my son's to wear sun glasses all the time to prevent age related eye problems when they age.
I invest in skin care, hair care, quality sporting good/outdoor clothing, good sunglasses (prescription), sun protective clothing, supportive walking/hiking/winter boots....but I don’t spend as much on everyday clothing, shoes, purses or jewelry. I see my splurges as supporting lifestyle and longevity, and hopefully aging gracefully. 😊 I have a few name brand purses and shoes purchased second hand, but spent no more than $50-75.
This video was wonderful! Thank you for featuring products you use and enjoy! In March I splurged on my first Veronica Beard blazer. The moment I tried it on, I instantly understood why you recommend this brand! The color, the fit, the fabric looks sharp! I bought the Hosanna Linen Dickey blazer. I’m petite so it fits me perfectly! Thank you for your fabulous tips on how to elevate a look. Out of all the fashion influencers, you are the best! ❤️
I’ve been buying Soma bras, panties, and sleepwear for well over 15 years and won’t buy any other brand. So worth it. Coach and Michael Kors are my handbag brands of choice because of the quality without the extreme price tag of designer bags.
Way back in the day, grandpa told my mom 'Wear a cheap hat but good shoes'. He wanted me to have good pre-school walking shoes. Of course, my mom was already on board for good shoes for me. Baby boomer near Pittsburgh, Pa. 🏈🏈Kay is cool.
A brand of shoes I have splurged on is Orthofeet shoes. I have a D width foot and on top of that I have an ankle with edema that swells quite a bit. We were headed to Israel and I desperately needed some comfortable and well fitting shoes to do a lot of walking. I think I ordered and sent back 6 pair of expensive shoes that were supposed to be the most comfortable shoes you’ve ever worn. I finally ordered a pair of tennis shoes from Orthofeet. Finally, a comfortable pair of shoes. After I ordered the tennis shoes, I splurged on a $150.00 pair of sandals. I’m so glad I did. We were doing so much walking that my ankle stayed very swollen. So much so that I could not wear my new tennis shoes. However, the sandals are adjustable in 4 places and I was able to loosen them enough for me to be very comfortable. They ended up being the only shoes I wore during our 12 day trip. They are so comfortable, I wear them most days now. The bonus is that my daughters tell they are cute and on trend!
Never before UA-cam has there been a method to discover good quality items. Especially when the items are supported by a verified comments and usage. Kay keep the list going!!
I have that little Nordgreen Megara necklace and it really adds a special touch to black outfits and plays nicely with other gold necklaces. I have one pair of Paul Green shoes that were expensive even at a consignment store, but they are soft as butter to wear! Even in the heat when my feet tend to swell, the shoes (suede flats with a pointed toe and ankle strap) did not aggravate my bunion.
Ha! I too am the one wearing sunglasses all year round. Travelled to Ireland many years ago. It rained every single day, but I always had my sunglasses on. I’m soooo sensitive to light sun or not. The light outside can be so harsh I really cannot keep my eyes open en tear all over the place. Last year I had an eye check and the doctor said that for a 63 year old my eyes are in great shape and very healthy (of course I need readers!). And I really think that has to do with me protecting my eyes with (good! not cheap) sunglasses.
Lol I’m with you on sunglasses! I wear them in rain, dusk, all of the time. I wear trifocal lenses in my regular glasses, as well as my sunglasses. When I go to the eye doctor and get my new RX and two new pair of glasses….expensive for sure. But very important to wear good polarized lenses for eye protection. My daily eyeglasses are Prada, sunglasses are Coach. Thankful for great Medicare insurance! And on the mattress….yes! Ashamed to say, ours was 20 years old when we replaced it in February. Not inexpensive that’s for sure. But I’m actually sleeping so much better at night! I guess we didn’t realize how bad ours was 😮 I did forget…I have a Michael Kors glazed leather handbag in a British tan I’ve had for 20 years….well before his MK became his signature style all over his bags. You don’t even know it’s an MK bag. I carry it mostly fall/winter and always get compliments on it. It is heavy though, even empty. My spring/summer is a nude pebble leather Vince Camuto, which I love as much. I just don’t like changing out bags, so these are the two I carry 90% of the time.
LOVE those Soma panties….only brand in my drawer anymore. They always have sales so keep an eye out. The boy short style is great under flowey pants & dresses❤
Thnx for this! It's good to have a "heads up" to brands worth the splurge. And several of these you've mentioned so starting to sink in...That consistency means a lot. P.s. I LOVE Colleen Rothschild retinol supreme night oil. Been repurchasing for several years. Elegant, has really evened tone. Not many talk about it, but a winner for me🎉🎉
You had some beautifully classic outfits today! I must admit, your scarves are drool-worthy! I may need to check out the jewelry you presented. Nice to consider these products!
Good morning Kay, and what a beautiful and informative video. Great to know, especially the shoes. I need to wear comfortable shoes. Thanks for sharing. 😘👍🙏❤️🌟🌹🌻💫✨✝️🌺
I love your suggestions. Like you, I don’t purchase many purses, but the ones I own are high quality because they get used so much. I have a Coach bag I have owned for at least 20 years, and there isn’t a scratch or blemish on it. I consider that great cost per use! I have bunions, so spending money on quality wide width shoes that are comfortable is money well-spent. I also agree with the need for quality sunglasses to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. Thanks for your ideas!
I loved this video Kay! I think your videos and blogs are a gentle inspiration and I enjoy all your content. PS. the weather here in New England is beautiful this week!
Paul Green shoes are absolutely worth the spend. They last for years and are usually a classic design so the cost per wearing makes them an affordable splurge.
I wear sunglasses when it’s cloudy too and I have always had a pair of Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses since I was in my early 20’s. I had my first pair for almost 15 years, then had my next pair for about the same time period. My 3rd and latest pair (2 years so far) has prescription lenses in them. Considering how long I keep them, the price per wear is definitely low. 😂
We are also looking for a good quality mattress. Recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you so much for these videos. I truly enjoy all of your videos.
I'm just not a logo girl, just my levis. Never have been. I'm 64 now, doubt I'd change. I'm very plain. Jeans, tees, and cotton button downs. Same all my life. Totally satisfied. You do you though.☺
I can’t say with any certainty that if I came into some money I wouldn’t buy some high dollar products. But it would be a select few items, I wouldn’t get rid of everything I own and start over.
Thank you Kay, I love this video. Sometimes good quality items do cost more. I am trying to build my capsule wardrobe with items that will last. No trendy for me.
My current splurge is on my 69 year old skin. Purchased the Omnilux red light mask and I'm seeing positive results in less than a month. Added some new skincare brands to my arsenal and I'm excited to see what unfolds. The Elemis and Colleen Rothschild products have scent and I am very scent-sensitive so I must use fragrance free.
I bought Josie Maran body creams and oils as we age most creams do not hydrate enough. Like many of your choices and think each person chooses what they feel is best, sometimes the price point is a determinant though, or availability in for right fit. Thank you!
What a fun video learning what everyone’s “splurges” are! Mine are my Jo Malone London colognes and my favorite is Wood Sage & Sea Salt! Oh I might have to splurge on your J Crew sweater too!
This was a fun video! Certain things I would never splurge on, Veronica Beard blazers for example but it’s because it doesn’t fit my lifestyle. However, when I do splurge it’s on handbags and I have more than a few, it’s my Achilles heal!
Yes I splurged and found Talbot jeans that actually complemented me in this phase of my life and didn’t look teeny bopper like. Rare is pay $80-$100 for jeans but I’m pleased Thanks Kay for you recommendations
Wonderful video with many great tips! Bedding is definitely a good one!Paul Green shoes are unbearable in quality and comfort .Handbags are every woman love I believe! And as we get older we can sometimes afford things that are just lovely and make us happy! Any good quality item can be worth it! Good shoes are an essential and definitely pay off as they last long and are good for our feet! Love everything you present! People can easily adjust it to their own taste and lifestyle. We're all different but can use the tips and ideas you give!
I have the same color eyes as you do and my eyes are also sensitive to light. I thought that was just me. I have prescription sun classes with loads of added sun protection built in. I wear my sunglasses all the time even on the rainy days. Whenever I go outside, it is the first thing I grab. Thank you for saying that. I didn't realize others with similarly colored eyes felt the same way. BTW, my husband and mother-in-law, who have brown eyes, always keep their rooms dark. It drives me crazy. At home I am always putting lights on when I enter a room and I like large windows to let the light in. I wonder if that is also peculiar to light colored eyes. Anyway, thank you Kay for those special splurges, I feel the same way. I also splurge on hair care products. I always purchase from my salon or order on-line. I noticed women over 50 can't use cheap hair care products anymore or else their hair will look dried out and straw like. I also wear those same Soma panties and I have Soma bras as well. I have Spanx for under dresses. But I do have pull on bras from Target that I wear around the house. I love those and wish I could wear them out of the house. ;-)
MY TOP TEN: Good sunglasses which I wear year-round; quality, classic gold jewelry (a piece or two is all you need); Hermès scarves; silk shirts; quality loafers, heels, boat shoes (various brands); trench coat; cashmere or camel winter coat; cashmere turtlenecks.
We went to the outlet mall near us today. It was to buy my granddaughter some clothes for her birthday tomorrow. But they have a Coach outlet. I told my husband when I ever have some extra money I want to stop in there. He told me I’ll never have some extra money. I do spend money on my skincare. And I have tried a lot. I do spend on my shoes too. My feet have been abused for too many years. But not anymore. I need some prescription sunglasses. I can’t drive without my glasses. So if it’s really sunny I’m in trouble. I keep meaning to make an eye appointment and get some. I’m going to do that soon. I love the jewelry. Do I need it? Probably not. But it’s so pretty. And I have a birthday coming up in a few days too. Now I have something I can buy myself.
Kay, I know you are leaving soon for Acadia! We have a summer home in the area and I wanted to mention some of our faves! In Northeast Harbor, we love to visit the Asticou Azalea Garden and then have lunch at the Asticou Inn. There is also a beautiful garden nearby called the Thuya Garden. It is breathtaking and open to the public. Hope you have a wonderful trip and take a jacket. It will be chilly in the morning. Southwest Harbor is also a fun place to visit. Lots of great lobster shacks.
We have Boll and Branch sheets we’ve had for years and still going strong. We love them! I’d love to have more of their products, just can’t afford them!
I just ordered the blanket and I also added some hand towels to get a free beach towel! I got 125. off my order! Thanks, Kay! I was looking for a simple cover on my bed , this will be perfect!
That’s okay if you don’t think her splurges are worth it. There are several factors that may apply to her needs but not necessarily to others. It sounds like she’s a career woman and her needs will be different from someone, perhaps a medical professional who doesn’t need as many dress clothes and shoes. Income is another factor. But I do hope you have some splurge items that make a difference in your day.
I agree with you. We need a few very good quality things. Not all our wardrobe but some things like sunglasses, bags and jackets make a very smart look. I buy expensive t-shirts from Rag and bone and James Pearce. That is important to me. Interesting video. Thank you.
Ty for the discount on Boll and Branch. I still had a gift card from Christmas but the waffle blanket king size is still pricey. That code helped me finally order it.
The Veronica Beard blazers are indeed wonderful - but they don't come in petite sizes. If you have any contacts at Veronica Beard, please ask them to offer at least 1 blazer in petite!!
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms I am 5'2" and I tried one on. It fit pretty well and they said they could alter it! I didn't get it, but I am eyeing them. I did love it. I have other things I want more:)
I like shopping for better handbags and shoes. I have been on the hunt for a very neutral handbag and of course one that fits my lifestyle & wardrobe. I realized I’m very drawn to “camel” & “taupe” and I found a nice tote by Micheal Kors (Winston) in camel. It has a zipper closure and the strap is slightly adjustable. It’s perfect for the next shoe purchases I will make down the line. I like Micheal Kors pebbled leather, Dooney & Burke Florentine leather, Tori Burch Saffiano leather & Kate Spade nylon. I try my best to purchase on sale but if I see something that I know is a good fit I buy it since my wardrobe is very minimal. I also love Thursday boots. I’m looking for a really nice loafer brand and I want a really well made pair that is very comfortable for my slightly wide feet. If you can think of a brand I will have for a long time I would love to know. I have a $400 budget for this purchase. ❤🥿👡👟
You might try SAS shoes (San Antonio Shoes). They aren’t cheap, but very comfortable, often classic styles, most styles are made in the US and they come in widths. Good luck! Kay, you give great advice, and I’m so happy to try Ally shoes on your recommendation!
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms I’m going to look into the Paul Green. My feet are slightly wide and Cole Haan tends to be a bit snug. I also looked at the Stuart Weizmann site but didn’t see anything about actual “comfort”. I want them to be comfortable without looking orthopedic lol. I know you get what I’m saying. 😆 Thank you Kay, happy Friday 🥿👟💕
I found a pair of light gray tone on tone at TJ Maxx years ago - made in Italy , very comfortable & still in perfect condition . Believe I paid less than $40 ! The color is a good year 'round neutral for me . Good quality at affordable prices are worth the search , sometimes where 'n when you least expect - happy shopping !
It's interesting that you use a sheet as well as a duvet. I think most Europeans use the duvet only (as do I) and launder the covers (I have several) weekly and the duvet monthly. Those blazers look amazing - but fortunately (!) they don't fit me well. My splurge is skincare and lingerie, but I think I might have to try some of those shoes.
I am pricing so many of the clothes you are sharing are very, very expensive. Maybe most of your patrons wouldn't agree. I do enjoy the great ideas you offer but I have to shop more conservatively.
I fully agree with what you are saying. I think it only makes women feel somehow inadequate when they actually open up their own closet. We need to make women feel positive and know that they can be fashionable to themselves ultimately. Too many people on you tube are making women feel bad.
I love blazers and have many. However, I was disappointed by the Veronica Beard blazers when I saw the material was polyester instead of a wool or at least a wool blend. The Beard jackets are not a quality material for the price.
@Audrey...I agree. I am a " Blazer Girl ", for d e c a d e s . I actually Looked at those as well and I could not believe for that price point that they aren't part wool. They are not part something other than what they are because I have bought beautiful velvet blazers. I bought a beautiful blazer at Nordstrom for much better price. I bought a beautiful blazer at Saks on sale 10 years ago and it still looks new and I wear it a lot. I just cannot justify the price point of these Veronica beard blazers. You're just paying for the name and I'm not that kind of woman thats going to pay " just for the Name ", but the Qualityis lacking......
@@texasstardust6010 Also, I read some reviews on the Veronica Beard blazers and the buttons fall off easily. I think many who push the blazer are gifted them. Actually, when I tried the VB blazers on, they also felt boxy and didn't rest well on my silhouette. A name doesn't equate quality. You sound as an excellent shopper:}
@Audrey Huggins ....Aren't you so kind...! Thank you for your sweet reply. I was also wondering about the ' Silhouette " factor, thank you....due to the way I've looked at them on other women and they do seem a little bit boxy. Which is OK sometimes a boxy blazer works, it does - it depends on what you're wearing. But I want a little bit more feminine silhouette, not skin tight, not tight just, you know ... " Cut properly in the right places, " lol . I appreciate your candid assessment. I also no longer buy really expensive designer handbags. I have a bunch of them when I say a bunch... I mean about 5 , lol... I have a Michael Kors bag. I use it only for Spring. I have a Coach bag. I only use it for certain things. I just can't justify ,,again the amount of money. " S A L E " is one of my favourite 4- letter words,,lol. I've seen a lot of beautiful handbags with minimal hardware. They are not a designer bag but they will function like one and that's okay with me. I do realize that the better quality something is the longer it is going to last you,absolutely... that's why I would always tell my daughters " to buy the best you can afforward even if it's not a Coach handbag, even if it's not " whatever Designer .." ... buy the best YOU can afford " even on sale, that way you know you got a good deal and you're buying QUALITY. I understand the premise behind this video. I truly do, but I think that there should be some quality dupes offered for the price point. And like I said I have some nice designer handbags, bought over the past 20 years. But I no longer purchase them unless it would be just " a steel on it."... You know what I mean..(?) I have no reason to. Blessings ~( I apologise for my " novel " , lol. I didn't realize it was so long of a reply ! )
@@texasstardust6010 Love your " novel " as it it holds so much truth ! One thing I've always tho't about is that everything we buy , be it an expensive / overpriced item or something from a discount store , at the beginning was DESIGNED by someone ; hence , the word " designer " , which some consider meaning high end quality , is really a misnomer ! Think about it ... We consumers are so programmed to buy too much , too costly , etc. when all we really need is what suits us personally ( our needs / lifestyles ) regardless of price . And as a side note , I have a couple Coach & Dooney & Bourke handbags ( deep sale prices ! ) , a two ltd. ed. silk scarves ( sale , of course ) & other " quality- for - the - price " classic items which are literally decades old , in mint condition . Taking proper care of all things , no matter the price , also extends the life of purchases so in the long run , they continue to be money well spent . So ...If Levis 'n hiking boots & sweatshirts , yoga pants & Life Is Good tees 'n sneakers , etc. are the " real you " - go for it ! If you're heels & pencil skirts - go for it ! Quite simply : be true to yourself & always be kind to yourself & others . 🥰
@@texasstardust6010 I love your novel! I live in Los Angeles, California, a high-cost place (but which one isn't lately?) and am self-supporting. I focus on quality at the best price on sale price I can find-always. I work for the County and couldn't fathom spending $600+ on a blazer (especially one made from polyester) or designer bag just to say I have it. Quality doesn't have to leave a woman broke nor are those expensive items "investments." The stock market will not accept an expensive purse in lieu of cash to buy stock;) Your comments made my day!
Which one are you trying to access? I don’t have any problems with them and no one else has said anything. I’d be glad to get you a link to a particular item.
Why is it so many women fail to make the shift to white gold or sterling silver when they grow grey. Yellow gold still looks good sometimes with white hair, but not with grey. It makes the woman look like she is trying too hard. None of the fashionistas seems to mention this, but if they’d take the time to really do a comparison they’d see what I mean. If you look better in taupe, wear silver. If you look better in caramel, wear gold.

Hahaha that is a great expression. Must remember that one because it sounds very much like me 🤭
Annette here. My splurge item is my haircut! I go to a pretty expensive salon. Bad hair will bring down the nicest outfit and great hair will elevate the most basic outfit! It's worth the extra $$ to me to have great hair every day.
That’s my splurge too! Having a good hair day is always a plus. 👍🏻
Let's be positive here! If we ran into the Veronica Beard jacket for $100 at a yardsale and it was in great condition and fit, we'd know to grab them.
So nicely said ! Thank you for sharing your grandmother's wisdom ... 💗
I feel good quality shoes and especially a purse are so important. You can wear clothes from anywhere but if you have a Classic purse you’re all set.
I wear my sunglasses every day too. Thank you for these lovely classic recommendations. God bless you ❤😊
I’ve been buying Soma bras, panties, and sleepwear for well over 15 years and won’t buy any other brand.
Thank you Kay, I have Boll and Branch sheets....they are the best. Yes sometimes it is good to go for a quality item...they last a long time.😊
A brand of shoes I have splurged on is Orthofeet shoes.
I wear my sunglasses constantly too, Kay, and they have to fit your face! Appreciate your eye for what is worth it and what is not.
Never before UA-cam has there been a method to discover good quality items. Especially when the items are supported by a verified comments and usage. Kay keep the list going!!
Oh, I had to laugh out loud when you said you weren't modeling the Soma panties. So cute. I loved this list of splurges. Thanks!
Great video! I’m right there with you. I look for a bargain every time I shop, but I splurge when an item is just right for me.
I guess we didn’t realize how bad ours was 😮
I did forget…I have a Michael Kors glazed leather handbag in a British tan I’ve had for 20 years….well before his MK became his signature style all over his bags.
I also wear sunglasses 365 days of the year. The best thing I ever did was buy prescription sunglasses. 😎
Me too! Love my Ray Ban Aviators and I paid extra for prescription lenses. ❤😎
Boll and Branch sheets are the best and they last forever!
Love the sunglasses. I’m like you and wear them all the time because of dry eyes. Thanks for the video.
I think your advice is great. You’re classy & easy to follow. Thanks
Yep! Splurged on a Porsche several years ago and love driving my car everyday! Where are the links? I can't find them
I'm just not a logo girl, just my levis. Never have been. I'm 64 now, doubt I'd change. I'm very plain. Jeans, tees, and cotton button downs. Same all my life. Totally satisfied. You do you though.☺
Can’t abide logos on clothing. Too flashy for me.
Thanks for sharing!! I love Jo Malone, too.
Me too I splurge on Jo Malone
This was a fun video! Certain things I would never splurge on, Veronica Beard blazers for example but it’s because it doesn’t fit my lifestyle. However, when I do splurge it’s on handbags and I have more than a few, it’s my Achilles heal!
I have various Michael Kors bags and definitely agree that shoes must be comfortable. I only buy leather shoes as they are more durable.
Yes I splurged and found Talbot jeans that actually complemented me in this phase of my life and didn’t look teeny bopper like.
Rare is pay $80-$100 for jeans but I’m pleased
Thanks Kay for you recommendations
Good day kay.stay safe and God bless always.
Thanks so much. We are on our way! And yes, I have several jackets. 😉
I LOVE Julie Vos!
Can you tell me where you got the shimmer sweater you are wearing with the block heels? It is beautiful! Thanks, great video!
Sure. It doesn’t actually have a shimmer. It’s a linen blend. rstyle.me/+_JGOul2hePDaVBaW5--Utw
I admire your taste but I could never justify spending that much money for clothing and shoes.
@@summersojourner Splurges don't have to be things for yourself. I choose to do fun things with our grandkids. I got enough stuff.
I don't splurge on anything. We try very hard to be good stewards of our income. We've tried to teach our kids & grands to do the same.
I agree with you. We need a few very good quality things. Not all our wardrobe but some things like sunglasses, bags and jackets make a very smart look. I buy expensive t-shirts from Rag and bone and James Pearce. That is important to me. Interesting video. Thank you.
What brand/style of jeans are you wearing with the white tennis’s? I like the length and the raw edge at the bottom of the pant leg.😊
I’m not totally sure but I think they’re my Madewell perfect vintage jeans rstyle.me/+PQhgdiBIlydjPjq65IVeRA
Ty for the discount on Boll and Branch. I still had a gift card from Christmas but the waffle blanket king size is still pricey.
That code helped me finally order it.
Great video... I agreed right down the line... even to sunglasses in the rain. 😄
The Veronica Beard blazers are indeed wonderful - but they don't come in petite sizes. If you have any contacts at Veronica Beard, please ask them to offer at least 1 blazer in petite!!
Ahh, no I have absolutely no contacts at VB. I do know very petite women who wear their jackets though.
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms I am 5'2" and I tried one on. It fit pretty well and they said they could alter it! I didn't get it, but I am eyeing them. I did love it. I have other things I want more:)
I love Boll and Branch!! Been using them for years!!
Pretty in pink!
I bought my Australian Quay sunshades and I get loads of compliments on them
yes, on the jewelry. I have been looking at the necklace from the beginning of your post.
I enjoyed watching this! I especially agree with you aboout shoes, underwear, and skin care
Thank you Kay!!
I personally love my Paul Green loafers. I have two pair. So soft inside and really sharp looking. You also might consider Cole Haan.
I LOVE the cap-toe, block heel shoes but that splurge is out of my range. Any similar recommendations closer to $150?
I found a pair of light gray tone on tone at TJ Maxx years ago - made in Italy , very comfortable & still in perfect condition . Believe I paid less than $40 ! The color is a good year 'round neutral for me . Good quality at affordable prices are worth the search , sometimes where 'n when you least expect - happy shopping !
Enjoyed your video. Thank you.
I love Boll & Branch! I will try their blankets.
That’s interesting about the bedding. I think we all do it differently depending on the region of the world we live in. So interesting.
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms So true!

@@texasstardust6010 Also, I read some reviews on the Veronica Beard blazers and the buttons fall off easily. I think many who push the blazer are gifted them. Actually, when I tried the VB blazers on, they also felt boxy and didn't rest well on my silhouette. A name doesn't equate quality. You sound as an excellent shopper:}
Links don't work.
Which one are you trying to access? I don’t have any problems with them and no one else has said anything. I’d be glad to get you a link to a particular item.
I love the beige sweater you are wearing in several of the shots (with black pants and the cap toe block heels). What brand is that?

I have been a Soma fan for years, I only wear their panties and bras.
Love their sticky vintage panties
The sunglasses brand Quai is pronounced key.
Thanks for that. Now I know! 😉 However, it is spelled Quay.
Yes, I learned that in Australia! I was going to point that out but you beat me!
Sorry a mistake...Paul Green shoes are UNBEATABLE in quality and comfort
Why is it so many women fail to make the shift to white gold or sterling silver when they grow grey. Yellow gold still looks good sometimes with white hair, but not with grey. It makes the woman look like she is trying too hard. None of the fashionistas seems to mention this, but if they’d take the time to really do a comparison they’d see what I mean. If you look better in taupe, wear silver. If you look better in caramel, wear gold.
I’m not belittling Kay…..does she sound like Michelle Dugger to anyone but me?
