  • Just got one of my 355 SBCs running on a dolly. Built it 5 yrs ago as a back up engine for my C-10. It's pretty rowdy.

I do have to say, your small garage is very well organized! Also one of the first things I noticed was how you routed the plug wires under the exhaust, looks so much cleaner! 👍

Garage messy right now, I usually keep it pretty clean. Been busy on this unit.

Plug wires under the headers always looks cleaner. I like to see the whole valvecover.

Never enough room, time or money. You might want to think about getting a piece of property to build a pole barn to be able to have all your toys in one spot? That would drive me crazy as well trying to remember what is stashed where and if it's still there.
    Anyway, another good looking build.😎👍

Yeah it sucks having shit stashed in 5 places. Hopefully one day I can get another big building.

Wish I could find an old school with a big gymnasium to buy. I know a guy that lives in one and it's full of old drag cars. Perfect place to store hotrods. He bought it cheap about 30yrs ago too. Seems like he only paid about $50,000 for the whole building and a couple acres of land. Nice big parking lot too.

Thanks for sharing always like your content,I build engines everyday, 454 is on the engine stand ready to install the pan ,then comes the top end! Racing is boring today compared to old days i got a 550 car and enclosed trailer just sitting in the yard!!

That ol 355 will dog walk any Ls n/a. Fuck that fuel injection bullshit. Love seeing a real SBC! I have a 85 z28 Camaro everyone said why don’t you ls swap it. Listening to that 355 fire up gives living proof to why I believe in true n/a form the original sbc reins supreme! You definitely don’t hear no ls sound like that.

I have a pretty rowdy NA SBC in my 84 Z-28. It'll run mid 10s like it ain't shit and could drive it everyday. 357 cubes with Promaxx heads. I've done alot to the car tho. It's set up and light as hell too. Building a monster 496 bigblock to drop into it in the near future. Want to run 8s NA with it. Single 1150 Dominator. Huge solid roller, over 13-1 compression. Rowdy motherfucker.

I've built numerous LS engines for customers that all had the same sheep mentality. I wasent impressed with the cost to power ratio. 580hp NA 6.0 costed $10,000 bucks. Can do the same thing with a 350 for half the money. Some folks just like being trendy. I'm all about the power per dollar ratio and I prefer NA builds. Junkyard turbo LS engines are bullshit. I've seen them come apart on the first pass. Hard to beat an engine with 70yrs of research and development. That's why SBCs are so good. And the bigblock was designed from day one to smoke everybody on a NASCAR track. So it was a racing engine first, passenger car and truck engine later. Shit, one of my 454s came out of a 18.000lb vehicle and it would do 90mph. I have a 427 that came out of a tandem axle dump truck that hauled massive loads of stone. Tough ass old engines. I'm building them for big power tho. The 427 is gonna turn 8000rpm and make over 750hp NA. The 454 gonna be 700+hp and the 496 gonna be 800+hp. All NA with Dominator carbs. Probably going with a tunnelram on the 496 with twin custom 1050s built on a 4150 base. Weiand Pro Ram intake thats ported. Vintage Pro Stock unit.

@@thereluctantgearhead4544 Can't wait to see more of your builds. I've also learned a few different things from your videos. I'm building a 383 right now for the Camaro but nothing super crazy just 500hp 500ft is the goal. That's pretty easy to reach these days. I'm just glad to see real people still making videos on information about SBC. A lot of people like to follow trends but have to spend thousands on electronics that they have to have someone else tune or set up. When you can slap a carb on and go. Also the fuel cools the intake air charge temp that increases power. Plus sounds way better than any ls could even dream of. Can't wait to see you piss the neighbors off with the big blocks. Wish you were my neighbor! Can't wait for the future videos!

You can man, just throw one together. Cheapest parts ya can buy. Compared to other shit anyway. Those Pontiacs and Oldsmobile engines cost a fortune these days. Just seen a stock 68 455 Olds pulled straight out of a junk tornado, $2500 bucks and $500 shipping, for a fuckin core. I used to buy them for $50 to $300 bucks. Shits gotten crazy.

KMJ "Assault" 205cc heads. Same cores as the AFR Enforcer heads. Stepped up with 2.05/1.60 Ferrea valves, 5 angle valve job & bowl ported, milled .024 off deck, 60cc chambers. ARP 7/16 studs, Comp ultra gold rockers, Comp stud girdles, Manley guide plates, Lunati roller 1.55 dia valvesprings & retainers, 10 degree locks, etc. Bought bare and loaded them up with what I needed. Pretty decent pair of budget heads although I have over 2 grand in them. Could have bought cheaper shit tho. But I wanted certain parts for the build. Heads are port matched to a vintage Holley Strip Dominator intake also. Piston .010 in the hole with a .026 thick head gasket. Block decked to 9.00 in. Scat crank & rods, ICON pistons. Crower solid roller cam. 274/278@.050, 627/627 lift, 107 lobe sep., Lunati lifters, Trend pushrods. Just a basic 4-bolt 350 out of a boat. 2000 model Mercruiser.
