There's sadly still a lot of bi erasure and invalidation within the queer community, but I also try to keep in mind that a lot of those lesbian women have probably had their own negative experiences with bi women and we all have our personal traumas and biases. 🤷♀
I don’t think it’s so much bad experience with bi women. In my personal experience and from talking to other queer women there’s a huge issue of straight women pretending to be bi. I’m not talking about women confused about there sexuality but straight men that send straight women to pray on specifically lesbian women. I was talking to this one women a couple years ago, and initially she identified as bisexual but during the conversation said “I don’t like women I’m just doing this for my boyfriend.” I don’t have issues with straight couples wanting to experiment but a lot target queer people in really insidious ways when they could look for other straight people that want to experiment. Lesbians who had previously been with also face similar discrimination by both lesbians and bisexual women. I’ve some lesbian women called and that they’re just self hating bisexuals simply because they’ve been with mean in the past. There is a toxic ideology within the lgbt community about being queer enough. I grew up around a lot of homophobia and biphobia and lesbophobia which has a big factor in my journey as a queer person, now I don’t like using labels but I was younger I would often switch between bi and lesbian simply because while I knew I loved women I wasn’t sure where I stood with men. In many cases lesbian and bisexual partners kept demanding that I proved my queerness. There’s been multiple times throughout my life where I just felt pretending to be straight was the better option. There’s a lot of issues within the lgbt+ that rarely if ever get addressed.
I think it’s an insecurity thing honestly. Some girls I know get insecure because they think they’ll get five years into a relationship and then they’ll get left for a man, which is kind of a stereotype surrounding bisexual women unfortunately. :( it sucks, but it is a prevalent thing.
