    Kingdom Death: Monster is a fully cooperative tabletop hobby game experience. Set in a unique nightmarish world devoid of most natural resources, you control a settlement at the dawn of its existence. Fight monsters, craft weapons and gear, and develop your settlement to ensure your survival from generation to generation.
    Campaign System
    Embark alone or with up to 3 friends (5 with game variant) on a 5-30-lantern-year campaign, with each year consisting of a cycle of hunt, showdown, and settlement phases. The settlement phase is an intricate civilization building game in which you spend very limited resources to build buildings, research new technologies, train your warriors, and set up your strategy for survival. During the hunt, you'll encounter a series of stories in a "choose your own adventure" style journey through various events and encounters. Finally, when you meet the monster you're pursuing, you'll engage it in an a massive arena-style battle where only one party is going to survive. If your party lives, you'll be able to bring the spoils back home to use in expanding your settlement.
    Monster AI System
    Each of the 7 monsters included are controlled by their own pair of decks that scale to 3 levels of difficulty (except for the final encounter, which has only 1 level and it's HARD!). Every encounter, even with the same monster, is highly variable and no two showdowns will resolve the same way. Players will have to plan their gear and keep their minds sharp to prevail.
    Gear System
    In Kingdom Death: Monster, survivors will craft gear from resources earned from defeating monsters or found on their hunt. Each survivor has a 3x3 gear grid. Selection and arrangement of your gear cards is critical, as many provided bonuses and activate special rules when aligned correctly.
    Story Event System
    40+ Story Events plus over 100 hunt encounters will shape and guide your campaign. Story Events detail important evolutions in your civilization, introduce new monsters, and provide rich detail for your campaign. Some will trigger automatically as you progress through the campaign, but most will be entirely based on choices players make.
    Story Events cover everything from setting up and fighting a monster to key events that happen within the overall story. Some are triggered directly from the timeline and others from choices you make in game.

    Great video. There is a significant story event related to Principle Conviction. Could have a very big effect on the settlement phase.

    Well this is an early start, 5 minutes in... 😅
    5:10 For purposes of monster movement, the Overwhelming Darkness (OD) space works like any other, the monster does not hop over it. If you reach the monster while it is on OD, start showdown without resolving OD.
    11:00 Resources should be distributed to the survivors, because you can actually use those resources during hunt/showdown so it matters who has what in their pocket.
    15:35 Technically, every disorder/FA draw should be from a 100% fresh deck. But I get it when shooting a video as it adds unnecessary waiting time if you handled it one by one. But do keep it in mind for when it might have a bigger impact.
    16:55 What!? Jesse! 😠 Not every hunt event involves a straggler roll! But you sure seem to assume it does. Second, even if this was a straggler roll, you never automatically reroll ties, you’re instructed to do so or select multiple survivors as stragglers.
    21:10 Dead Monster: Survivors may go first. Ambush: Survivors skip their first turn.
    They BOTH still apply, neither straight up overwrites the other, but basically they cancel each other out, showdown starts normally with a single monster turn BUT as per Dead Monster survivors can still start anywhere on the board.
    27:35 Forgot to use Axe Specialization.
    30:00 Cumbersome and survival actions. This is not how it works because of how Dash and Surge work. Dash/Surge gives you Movement/Activation which needs to be spent IMMEDIATELY, you can’t store it for later. And one important rule for survival actions is that you cannot perform a survival action before the previous survival action has been fully resolved (applies throughout the party). So, you can’t Dash & Surge to activate a Cumbersome weapon. What you could do is during your act, you could Surge and use your regular Movement to attack once and then Dash and use your regular Activation to attack a second time. Also, general reminder for Jesse, the Claw Head Arrow is not Cumbersome since it does not inherit that feature from the bow. 😉
    36:45 Forgot damage reduction from Leprosy (fixed later).
    43:35 You can Surge all you want Shira but it’s not gonna be enough to activate that Cumbersome club by itself. 😏
    48:10 The Lion can still move and should’ve executed Cunning and moved as usual, even though you don’t actually suffer the Grab.
    (55:00 Not sure if you had any Tinkers, but always check for those when generating endeavors.)
    58:30 What!? Shira! No! Why are you putting the book away!? There’s more to the event, much more! Argh! 😱
    1:04:20 Hoarder needs to archive one of the newly gained resources (you did fix this but just pointing it out for the future).
    And that’s all folks. 🥳 But seriously, get that Conviction event fixed.

      Hey, i have a question for you ! I find the lion movement strange at 32:38. For me "full move away from all threats" means that the lion will end his move on the case which is the furthest from all players. And because it have 7 movements points, it means it is very likely that the lion will be unreachable from the others survivors (unless you use dash). Is it the correct way to move the lion or should we use a kind of "heatmap" like what is done here ?

      @@sliderend8072 It is one of those cases where the monster controller decides, trying to abide by the provided criteria, no strict rules for how to do it. You could certainly math out survivor by survivor the total max spaces between the monster and all survivors or you can streamline it by visualising a type of "heatmap", personally I just determine a sort of "center of mass" for the survivors and get as far away from that as possible. All approaches have pretty much the same end result.

      @@Creepo11 Yes i agree, anyone can decide how he wants to do it. But for me it changes a lot. For exemple with a heatmap, we can actually trap the lion in a corner of the map (same for escaping the center of mass). As by finding the furthest spot, the lion will pass threw a survivor (knocking him down by doing so) and will likely be unreachable by the others (not knowded down and not grabbed).
      I might be like an "harder mode" for the one who wants it x)

    Even though you didn't get to explore the swamp this time, still excited to see Herb Gathering. I always like events that have fun with the die rolls. Super cool that you got dead monster after being ambushed. And then getting rid of grab! So much winning here haha. Your excitement is palpable and infectious. Easy to follow what's happening in these playthroughs, more relaxed (if apprehensive for game reasons of course), good narration. Good years like this make the next bad year feel a lot worse haha.

    Dude! Nice hoodie.. paint me jealous lol - man I wish my partner was into board games, you're so lucky... my girl is a boggle wizard, I've never beaten her at it, she's a literature student though so she has the advantage but she hates large format games, I can't even get her to try spirit island....

      I believe the majority of players who love KDM are not into D&D. KDM creates a story through its gameplay. D&D is all story. Certainly not for everyone (and not for me though I love the stories KDM creates)

      @@Quackalope I don't know if D&d is regarded as a boardgame but for me it is on number 1 spot no questions asked. But I can also see the appeal of KDM, similar experience just little bit of guided story and the game mechanism is the DM.
