Silverback Gorilla Shows Strength When Throwing Female

- Experience intense gorilla drama as Oumbi, the powerful silverback, intervenes in a family dispute. Watch as alliances shift and conflicts unfold, leaving Shufai caught in the middle. Who's to blame? Share your thoughts! 🦍🔥 Oumbi charges • Silverback Charges, Ho...
With the gorillas, when they disagree, it looks worse than it actually is, especially when Oumbi with his huge body mass comes charging and showing his teeth. It is quite terrifying to see how powerful he is and to hear all the screams from the two female gorillas. I only realized at home, watching in slow motion what really happened. Lope is being his usual self and has a go at Biddy his grandma. Grandma is having none of it this time and pushes Lope away. Ozala who sits beside her sees this and has a go at her mother for having a go at Lope. The watchful eye of the Silverback gorilla Oumbi reacts in an instant, the way a Silverback should and launches himself towards the females, trying to break up the fight between Ozala and Biddy. Little Shufai ran towards the two females at the same time Oumbi was moving. He first clung on to Biddy and then when mum emerged he clung on to her back and was holding on right through the middle of it all. Biddy then got pushed out of the door by Oumbi, and then Oumbi has a go at Ozala. Lope did not get involved at first, he just looked at them, seemingly in shock that he might have caused the fight, but then he did get involved and he went for Dad, grabbing his backside. When Oumbi let go and ran away, Lope still had a hold of his back. A very noisy Ozala had a go at Oumbi, while Oumbi did a few more laps running around until he went into the back to calm down. Biddy came back in from the back entrance. When Oumbi came out from the back again, he went into the corner, still quite agitated looking. Asante comes down from her top bunk, obviously witnessing it all from above. A little later when Oumbi comes out from the back, Lope makes way and you can see Ozala in the back with Shufai. She’s giving Oumbi the evil eye and everybody is staying well clear of the silverback. The sorriest I felt for little Shufai, putting himself in the middle of it all. I believe Oumbi just did what he was supposed to. I think Ozala might have just overreacted in this instant. What do you think?

The fact that these animals can break up a fight immediately but we just stand there and cheer when one breaks out speaks a lot
Plenty of people break up fights and not everyone cheers either. The reality of these occurances is not that black/white or clear cut. It doesn't say as much as you think it does. @@LucidDream probably a teen.
Animals know that if there is infighting the pack is likely to fall apart and survival will be much harder. So for them its best to stop the fighting and drama as soon as it starts. It IS the silverback's job to stop it when a fight breaks out. However, when the silverback gets involved it is never pretty and he ends up looking like the bad guy. But it would not make everyone think twice before they fight if he was not at least a bit scary. The phrase "wait till dad gets home" comes to mind. Thank you for sharing.
NO...it is not wait till dad gets home as if you were implying threats to make a child shiver...sorry if you grew up with such a mom.....here the silverback is keeping order because that is his job and that is what he wants...there is nothing implied by his actions beyond that
@@jadezee6316 I did not say anything about my mother saying anything. Please leave her out of it. I also did not say that anyone should shiver in fear of Oumbie. The power of the Silverbacks always amazes me. Oumbie tossed Ozala at 0.12 and she landed on her back on the wood rail. I hope her back is okay! But, that is his job. Oumbie keeps the peace in the Troop by whatever actions necessary. I always thought Female Gorilla's fighting and their "screams" is the worse sound in the world. Makes my blood run cold. This one wasn't that bad. But when the females are fighting and really screaming, it is terrifying to hear. Everyone seems fine. " Big Momma", Ozala was very angry to chase after Oumbie, after, But he handled it well and just let her cool down. Seems in other fights when mom's defend their kids and the Silverback discipline's them, they really get angry. The other main job of the silverback is to protect his family from outside threats. Otherwise, they are very docile and tolerant. In most every way, they are perfect fathers.

Its dads job to break up a fight but a mom never stops being a mom no matter how old lope will be...
So true.
The Silverback was breaking up a fight between two female gorillas, to keep the peace. Great Job, as the head of his family!
I watched this several times and agree 100%. The male did exactly what he was supposed to, adult females can easily get injured fighting like this with the babies hanging on, and he is the only one there strong enough to break that up. I'm shocked he did this so well and so quickly. I've seen males who attempt this and end up getting too caught up and end up fighting instead. I'm glad they have such a great male. It's a bit scary that Lope is brave enough to attack dad though. That is dangerous for the future.
Wow! Oumbi did a good job, it's part of his role as silverback. Protector and referee. Having a harem has to be rough. Looks like he's in the doghouse with Ozala for abit. I love Lope, but if he pushes Dad too much he'll be separated. I've seen blackbacks as young as 5yo removed for their safety because they challenge the silverbacks authority. As always great vid SV!
Thank you!
Joelene C. he has only one wife.... Bindi is his mom in law..
Silverback gorillas are the very definition of the word 'chad' lol. So strong and getting in the middle of fights while being able to keep a calm head. Theyre also so majestic with how nimble they are while being absolute beasts.
Dam big daddy ain’t playing!
Beautiful Creature
Shawna Graham Isn't he tho??
WOW the power n speed of they animals is magnificent. You'd never think they'd move like that when you watch them chilling in the jungle.
Gorillas especially the silverback they amazed me gorillas are very smart and intelligent animals always learning something new each day from the gorillas thanks love and appreciate you guys thanks you guys rock they have feelings also ! Joe
Love that Silverback roaring and growling. And love how he separated its people.
Omg, that's so distressing to watch, your so right I felt so bad for little Shufai getting in the middle and they do seem to do that, and sometimes wind up getting hurt. Thank god no one was hurt and everyone calmed down. Poor Oumbi though, he was just trying to do his job. Yes she may have over reacted but that's what moms do. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤
🇨🇦 it really is his job to keep everyone in line. Doesn't look like he was wanting to hurt anyone. He just wanted to break up the fight. He's a Great leader and father. He's absolutely beautiful and seriously if he wanted to cause anyone harm he could have in a snap!
I too love this family! The dynamics that are present are just amazing, I had my daughter watch a bit of OumbI and his family and she was fascinated by how "people-like" they are! I have spent quite a bit of time watching them and I have really grown to love this family! I wish I could see them up close in person.
WELL AS LONG AS YOU AND YOUR SPOILED BRAT DAUGHTER ARE ENTERTAINED, I GUESS CONFINING THESE ANIMALS TO A CAGE IS WORTH IT. i WOULD AGREE TO THEM BEING CAGED ONLY IF I COULD WATCH THEM EAT YOUR BRAT AND THEN SET FREE.
Good man!! They settle things very quickly. Now everything is back to normal. Great vlog!!
New found respect for Mum Ozala for defending her eldest son Lope against Biddy. Respect for Lope for standing up against his Dad for throwing his Mum over the wooden barrier. I think both Ozala and Lope know how Oumbie feels about Biddy and just accepts as there are no other equivalent males. I think everyone in that family notices how Oumbie always protects Biddy, he even helped Biddy to roll out of the room in this quarrel. So far I've not seen Oumbie protect or take Ozala and Lope side against Biddy. I think Biddy knows this too. Only Ozala, Biddy and Lope know what was the real reason for triggering Lope to pester Biddy and for Biddy to finally snap. 🤷🏻♀️
Wow! What a scene, SV! I like this video.
I had to lower the speed to watch it several times to see how it all played out.
This is the way it is in the wild also.
Silverbacks stop fights. The other gorillas get to express their feelings. The Silverback distances himself so that he can bring calm back to his troop.
Lope's maturity is evident when he pushed Biddy on out the door and then followed his dad and kept touch with Oumbi's back to demonstrate his support. Lope showed support of Grandma Biddy by directing her out.
Shuffai joined his mother.
Biddy re-entered through the back door.
I love this family.
Considering the fact that Oumbi was born in a zoo, I think he instinctively does his job very well.
SV, I watch many videos on gorillas every day. You are the best videographer who uploads videos of zoo gorillas' interactions that best reflect wild gorillas. Big Kudos to you, dear.
Thank you very much, that means a lot. :-)

It's my pleasure, SV. I'm a big fan of your work, and try to watch all of your uploads.
Enjoy a great weekend. God bless you.
Big hugs,

Talk about a great definition of the peace keeper. 😀
so fast and strong, can you imagine if they played linebacker
That ape oumbi is very wise to tell his family to stop fighting!
He knows lawyers are like spiders and that they could be liable for damages.
+Alexander Walle True Alex True! :-)
Barack Oumbi
@@BLM_Big_Lipped_Marxist the real barack would have spied on his troop and sold out his cou try to the highest bidder
Such a good dad. Once the fight is broken up he allows the child to run him off while showing no aggression. Great show of restraint
That was nice how the kid was defending the mom
What amazing footage - Oumbi is a mighty patriarch who commands respect.
When you weigh in at 600+ lbs. and moves like a fly weight and strong af......ur a force to be reckoned with😳🤯
The gorilla looked like he was telling us his side of the story in the thumbnail
1:17 Silverback: "Gosh dang it, I broke a nail." 💅 🤣
