Later, I went to events and filmed the companies for free. Then they started contacting me. I offered them free design feedback and ideas. I had worked in rotomolding and plastics so I had experience with the build process. All those things just kinda fell in place. Definitely blessed to have loyal viewers that help make this life possible. It is hard work though. Filming and editing isn’t easy. Ever since 2013 I edited my own videos in between full time jobs. I am really digging the inflatable pedal kayak. I started with a Sun Dolphin 10' SOT and then moved up to a Vibe Sea Ghost 130 and absolutely loved it. I sold it to upgrade to a pedal kayak and now fish out of a Solo Skiff. There are so many times I miss the simplicity of the kayak and I have an iSUP but it doesn't have a pedal system. The ability to take the inflatable fishing in all of my travels (as well as around here locally in the Panhandle of FL) to TN, NY, CO, and TX would be awesome and I think it's something I am going to have to consider real soon. These are places I don't want to take the Solo and the iSUP would work but being able to pedal and be that stable is ideal. The pedal system is the game changer and what sets this apart in my opinion. I was looking hard at the Hobie Lynx but it's still a hard structure that you are not traveling easily with (or if you are, you are worrying about it being stolen). Still not sure I would be shark fishing out of the inflatable though. LOL!! Nicely done!!

    Wow. 💪💪💪😎💥🎉🍻 Super awesome video!! So I'm actually a fanatic when it comes to inflatable boats, kayaks, you name it.. I started with an Intex Excursion 5, then a Mariner 4, then graduated to 11' Mercury Quicksilver 340 Airdeck. Have sold or traded up/down out of those. Have owned several IKs as well like the Intex challengers K1 & K2, and just recently bought an Excursion Pro K1 for a friend. I've also briefly owned a Bote Zeppelin as well as a Sea Eagle 330, and an Explorer 380x. Currently my lineup consists of 4 inflatable kayaks and 2 inflatable boats: 2 Sevylor Sk100ds self bailing IKs which I love, a tandem Sundrift Rover 220 IK, a tandem Hobie Mirage i14t IK that needs repaired and finally a 10' Bris boat with aluminum floor and a 11' Saturn Azzuro Mare 330 airdeck boat.
    After all that, I think I'm ready to downsize it all and just fix/keep the Hobie i14t, the 2 sevylors, the Azzuro Mare, and I would love to own either the iTrek 9 or iTrek 11 (but they're too pricey).
    Now seeing the Intown LT and the Air 9 by lightning kayaks, I'm becoming more and more convinced that one of those 2 will be my ultimate DREAM KAYAK SETUP due to form factor, portability and the ability to check it in with an airline and take on vacation with me (which I've done with the Sevylors before, thanks to their small footprint, weight and size). I've taken my Sevylor to Hawaii, Cancun, Cabo San Lucas and Rocky Point, MX. I can't imagine how much more fun those trips would've been with a small pedal IK like this or or the others I mentioned above (iTrek/Air 9)!!!

      I can get you $700 off the Lightning Kayaks Air9. I know the owners and negotiated a good promo code deal for my viewers. Use promo code: Kayak DIY
      I don’t get much of a discount from Vibe. The Uptown is great, but I think the Air9 is going to be cool too. They are sending me the Air9 soon. Air9 will do well in deep water or shallow water. Uptown won’t go as shallow as Air9 due to propeller drive, but it has instant reverse for pedal drive. The Air9 could be upgraded to Hobie 180 fins (sold separately) which would then have reverse. Just comes down to personal preference. I think both are great, but the Air9 costs a lot less with promo code.

      @@KayakDIYHey that's awesome, thank you!! I'm actually getting ready to pull the trigger on 2 Air 9 packages. My wife reached out to them and is in the negotiating stages with Stuart and Tricia from accounting to see about getting them without the pedal drive since we already own 2 hobie drives. What is your first name, so I can ensure we get to use your promo code? My wife's name is Karen- and she'd been emailing Stuart regarding the drive. Stuart agreed to sell us the kayaks without the drive, and set us up with Tricia, who sent us an invoice. My wife then emailed Tricia back yesterday, asking if we can apply the code but bless her soul, she failed to mention how she got the code lol, nor the fact that I am one of your viewers and subscribers 😅

      True, I ran over the Cubera about 8 times, threw it off the roof, and dragged it a city block.
      The Vibe Uptown and Vibe Cubera are made the same with dropstiched material. I just couldn’t get myself to do all those things to the Uptown (especially the dragging which I knew would result in some damage). I plan to keep and use it a long time. Although the Cubera that I torture tested is totally usable and holds air for days without losing any PSI. Both can have fishfinder easily….i would use the track mounts either on the seat or just ahead of the seat. Inflatables I really think are taking off. Much easier to load and unload than my Hobie PA. *In 15 minutes my other Vibe video will be online to watch. It shows both kayaks in more detail* So good to hear from you. I’ve heard your name mentioned amongst kayaking friends quite often. 😊
      In regards to boarding the shark on inflatable boat. It becomes easy if you first put the shark into tonic immobility by flipping shark upside down. This makes them calm. You can’t put them in tonic immobility for longer than 15 minutes because they can suffocate and die actually…even if in water. I just use that technique to get them docile enough to take a pic and remove hook.

    I've owned a few kayaks and I always found them to be either too heavy, to load on a high roof rack, and when I could load them, they were not portable enough to get to the spots I want to fish. My dream kayak would be something very stable, very portable, and easy to fish from. Really liking the portability and durability on this Vibe. Durability was impressive. This is making me more and more interested. The Vibe almost looks like an inflatable SUP, just with a seat.

      Definitely was a fatty blacktip. Only way I got him onboard was putting him into tonic immobility first. I do that with all sharks before I dehook or get quick pic. Technically if you do it in the water for 15mins or longer the shark can actually suffocate and die. However we never mess around that long and get quick releases. Sometime I might do a catch and cook, but that one was too big for my immediate needs. I hate freezing fillets and prefer to eat it right away.

    It's more durable than I expected. I'm glad I got to see you torture the poor thing. My favorite set up is the Blue Sky 360 Pro with a Minn Kota Terrova up front linked to a Helix 9 and a Newport NK 180 on the rear. Unfortunately it got a bit unwieldy and I had to get a trailer for it so now I'm looking for something lite and compact that I can toss in the truck. One of the Vibe inflatables may be it.

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  2 місяці тому +1

      It definitely is durable. I deflate mine partially if I’m transporting them inflated. Truck bed gets hot. I live in hot florida so if they are full psi and left in heat on land they could blow out a seam over time due to air expansion. Other than that they are arguably more durable than traditional hard kayaks and paddleboards. Basically if you follow the rule of not leaving them on land inflated long term in sun….you will get a lot of life out of them.

So I inflated the boat and cleaned it up and prepped all the areas to be glued, as well as the parts that were getting glued. I went in for dinner, got tired started watching a movie and simply never went out. Long story short, I forgot about the boat until the following day (left it overnight). At around 11am or so hear a long pop, almost like a pellet gun went off and a "whoosh", went outside to find it had blown a 3 foot hole in the seam. Completely trashed the boat lol

      Black Tip shark. Didn’t have prominent black tips on fins, but they were there. Also other indicators such as fin shape, snout, and more confirmed it. This one was THICK. Took all my strength to try to lift it aboard. Key to getting them docile is to flip them over boat-side and put them into tonic immobility. You don’t want to do it for too long though because they can die due to suffocation…even if in water. Just makes hook removal easier.
