I like this method of comparison because it's quick, and you know every pedal is getting the exact same input (so the guitarist isn't accidentally strumming harder or softer on one pedal versus the others. .)
Jesus man, I'm following you for a long while now. The fact that your channel did not blow up yet is BEYOND me. Such an informative and clever revies and demos. You present the gear to the PEOPLE, not to the brands, that is so cool and refreshing. Keep up the good work, you helped me a lot in my gear shopping! :)
Worth noting: The OCDs can take higher volts than standard 9V for increased headroom. The Glove has an internal switch for a power charge which makes higher volts out of your standard 9 volts - but don't plug anything higher in it! For a pedal in this price range it is incredible.
Different unity volume between V1.4 and V2 is caused by impedance issues. If you put the V1.4 first in the chain, it’ll be much louder. The V2 fixed this issue with the new buffer so it doesn’t matter where you put it anywhere in the chain.
The Pedal Bored I have the V1.3 and have to crank the volume to 3 o clock to get unity. I use free the tone switching system, once I put in the chain the volume drop drastically.
I genuinely never comment on YT videos, but your in depth comparisons have enabled me to make some very satisfying purchase decisions. Where all other videos just demo pedals (with the hope of either selling them or being sent more free stuff to ‘review’), your videos offer the proper insight and balanced opinion guitarist want. Plus, excellent music; I find myself humming your riffs days after watching. I honestly look forward to seeing, and hearing, whatever comes next. Keep up the amazing work!
I like the od glove the most of these 4 pedals. And I think I can explain why it sounds like the the 2.0 while coming out 2 years earlier. To my ears the 1.0 or 1.1 whatever the first one was called had more mids with the 1.2-1.4 they scooped the mids, which is why the bottom and the highs are so huge! Then they based the 2.0 on the 1.0 and that is why it has differences from the 1.4 and yet sounds like the od glove. The Oh Sea Demon was based on the 1.4 and so that is why it sounds like that pedal. Cheers.
You do the best comparison on the planet. Seriously, you provide more information in minutes than people talking for an hour but never getting to the point.
0:44 “cork sniffing tone monsters.” 😆😂. That just made my day. PB, I love that you demo both pedals that cost more and are considered top shelf and other ones that are more folks like me who don’t have a lot of disposable income. And you’re not afraid to call it down the middle. Thank you. And I’m totally getting the Glove. I’ve got a couple OD’s I’m not using at home and the glove is 67.50 at guitar center.
Thanks for the comparison! Excellent, as always. I'm blown away by how well the Glove by EHX stands up to the OCDs. Gotta go hit Reverb before the used ones are all gone!
This was a great video, and ultimately did a lot of the work selling me on the Glove (I did watch a bunch of other comparison videos, too). Thanks. Looking forward to its arrival!
Went in for strings and saw The Glove sitting on the shelf for 40 bucks. Didn't google it, didn't try it, didn't think twice. The pedal needed a loving home and I needed an overdrive. It hasn't been off my board since. Was just thinking about getting an OCD before this video showed me I already have the best version
"a boomy mess" i was laughing out loud. EHX Glove sounds great! I have a OCD Fulltone V2 and finally i have no more headache if the V1.4 would be any better, from Fulltone the V2 is the right one for me, thank you! i still wish i had compared it to a Friedman BE-OD before buying.
I have to say that I came across your channel few days ago. Wish I had known about it sooner. That being said, I really like you comparisons and I think the provide so many information one might require when considering "similar" pedals and how they match against each other. I think your reviews are BY FAR best I've seen. Greetings from Croatia
From what I could find out the OD Glove was based on or closer to version 2.0 of the OCD. For me the Glove sounded better in my set up until I ran the OCD V2.0 at 18v, then it gained a slight advantage. Personally I found the Glove better at higher distortion, but at lower gain the OCD was more musically useful, nicer harmonic overtones.
@@thejamnasium6447 yes, did know, ran it in 18volt mode...but there is a difference between genuine 18volt and rails, I no longer use the OCD but it did sound better...very close but not the same.

Great video!!! IMHO, the OCD v1.4 is not the best, it was the biggest production, so the one people own the most. The v2.0 is not the same pedal, has more grit and less clarity. The Glove is very underrated.
I have a OCD v. 1.3 (or 4?), and people should note that it sounds completely different on my setup. It's my favorite pedal I own and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I have to say your method of demoing pedals is second to none 1st class mate. Always fancied a fulltone but price put me off, I managed to get a second hand Glove and blown away with it. Cheers Mery Christmas.
Yeah! I tried several dirt pedals. Big muff was too much, tube screamer and klone were too little, the glove was just right... For my bass playing songs I use it as a distortion, which is funny because on guitar I only use a light OD or fuzz
should I get the demon or the blues driver? I'm going for a shoegaze tone but also something that I can be versatile with! trying to stack it with a rat type pedal
I actually like the V2 OCD the best. They might sound very similar because although the circuit might have some slight differences, I bet they are getting the some of the same parts, if not identical, due to scarcity and Chinese distributors.
Mmmm great comparison. But generally nobody ever claimed 1.4 as the best. Most “aficionados” as you say, said 1.2 or 1.3 was the best. Loads of online reviews back this up too.

jaychen Electro-Harmonix’s East River Driver is a Tube Screamer - a much-lower gain, mids-focused overdrive. It sounds very different to the OCD and isn’t really comparable at all.
Just used one real quick a couple days ago. Didn't hear a huge difference but maybe it's more noticeable when not going into the front of a high gain amp?
jaychen Yeah, that’ll make a lot of overdrives sound kind of similar, as all the gain is really coming from the amp and you’re just using the overdrive to shape it. Tube Screamers get a lot of use in high gain (not my world at all) to focus and ‘tighten’ the gain of the amp. (But you may already know all this.)
I've owned a V1 OCD and a EHX The Glove. They are practically identical in terms of live use, generally I preferred the Original OCD but the Glove like I saw was so close. I'm just gonna go ahead and say it. GLOVE ALL DAY LONG. The rest are muddy, and fuzzrocious is fine until you hit too much gain. Yes, it's a real extra little treat at the bottom end of the Gain control.
Also Glove has a 9V - 18V switch at the back which changes it's characteristics and tightens the sound

Out of interest how do you set up the clean on the Katana for these demos?
12 o'clock on the EQ knobs, Gain at zero, Volume at max, Master and Power Control at what's not too loud in my house.
The glove with tone behind 12 o'clock sounds very fuzzy ... love it ... they're all great tho .
The glove is such a fun pedal didn't know it was based on the OCD even when I try to avoid clone pedals I still end up with one 🤷
I'm the exact opposite, if I can find clones, I really pursue them.
Try to put The Glove last in chain and it sounds more like OCD v1 - buffered bypass in v2 gives them an extra treble
But the Glove sounds more trebly to me, and it's before the v2...
