My Favorite Crockpot Roast
2-4 lb chuck roast
1 can cream mushroom soup
1 cup beef broth or water
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 envelope dry brown gravy mix
I salt and pepper to taste as I’m serving this; those dry packets have a lot of salt
I cook it all day long on high (6-8 hours) You could also cook it on low if you want to, I just think cooking it on high makes it fall apart like I like.

A big 'ol howdy from your Southern neighbor in Oklahoma! It is so lovely to hear another person pronounce cast iron like my Granny! ( arn instead of eye-ern)😊 I was wondering if you thought the Hello Fresh subscription was something my mid-twenties son & daughter-in-love would appreciate. They cook often and are both pretty skilled at it. But once they finished my gift to get the subscription started, I wondered if it would be affordable for them to continue. I know they'd love the new ideas they'd get, and they are always trying new things. I just wondered if you had talked with your kids or anyone else who had any experience with the cost to keep it up for them. They stick to a very kosher diet (they are so much more devout in our faith than even i am!😂 It is pretty awesome that my kiddo is leading our family to a closer walk with God. Must've done somethin right in raising the little critter! Boy we wonder, don't we?😊 We are pretty close in age so I thought you might have a thought about giving the Hellp Fresh as a gift to that age group. Enjoyed the video just like all the others! Made the slow cooker pork chops twice in the last week, the one with a packet of onion soup mix and pork gravy mix, and it’s a cheap, easy and delicious dinner for a couple nights. Always look forward to Sunday when the video comes out 😊

I do my roast basically the same but the golden mushroom soup rather than cream of mushroom and it is amazing!!!

Hi Mel! I can't wait to try that bow tie pasta beef casserole! I make a variation of the pork chop recipe in the crockpot. I don't use ranch seasoning. I also cube yukon gold potatoes and place those under the pork chops. The cream of chicken makes the gravy for the potatoes.

Thanks for the idea about how to cook up the broccoli. I like how you pre-steamed a bag of broccoli and then put it in the oven for crisping up.

@@mississippigirl A trick my Mom taught me for frying an egg is to splash a bit of water in the pan & put a lid on it to trap the steam. It keeps the white from getting too rubbery. We should ask Mel to do a kids breakfast edition! Ur such a good Mom! Hope some cool breezes head ur way soon! God bless! 🙋♀️🌻💞💞

I did not know that you could cook a roast on high all day! I'm gonna have to try this next time so that mine will be more tender because 8 or 9 hours on low is not cutting it. Thank you for all the crockpot ideas. I can never get to many of those! Hope you have a great day!
You maybe using the wrong cut of meat use chuck pot roast
Chuck or eye 8-10 hours on low. But top round and sirloin tend to not get as tender nor does it get as tender in the instant pot slow cooker.
you can cook it on low all day but not high all day

Yum to all of these!!! Can't wait to try the taco potato recipe. I usually substitute enchilada or burrito seasoning in place of taco seasoning in alot of recipes though. Wonder how that's going to turn out in this one? 🤔 Will have to let you'ns know! Also, I always use golden mushroom soup instead of regular mushroom soup in any beef recipe calling for mushroom soup. It already has a beefy taste to it and isn't as thin as the beefy mushroom soup in a can. Try it sometime and maybe use milk or cream instead of the beef broth (& still use your brown gravy mix). That's what my mom always used with her Crock-Pot "swiss steak". And she doubled it all so we had plenty good gravy for our mashed taters! 😋😁
Thanks for sharing this technique. I made the Crockpot Italian Chicken Sandwiches. I didn't have Italian dressing, but I had Garlic Expressions. I'm also on a soft diet, so I used Tomato Sauce instead of the diced tomatoes. I had 4 chicken breasts and followed your recipe on high for 4 hours. It was good enough that my husband even said the chicken wasn't dry and the sauce was good. The chicken breasts were large enough that we now have 2 more dinners in the freezer. I have had crockpots for decades, but I always thought cooking that long made the meat dry. You set me straight! I'll be using it again very soon and with your recipes. Thank you, for the extra effort making this video. I'm anxious to use my venison and elk with no hormones and grass, corn and acorn fed. Their meat is delicious even without seasonings.
I have found that The basil will last for a year if kept in the freezer!❤ thanks for the recipes ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for these recipes! I will say that some of the convenience items you use will have to be substituted with something gluten free so that I can eat them. But that’s not really a problem---where there’s a will, there’s a way….😉

I like to use the crockpot outside on our deck. Especially when cooking a roast. That way the whole house doesn’t smell like roast.
