Two of my brothers and myself are big Elvis fans. My younger brother (Charlie) passed away, so every time I listen to Elvis, little moments in time flash through my mind of little brother. It's nice to see someone getting familiar with Elvis!
I love your decision to explore more of Elvis's gospel songs. There are so many and, as with all of his songs, you'll hear sad and happy ones, slow and fast ones, soft and loud ones. I feel like Elvis doesn't get enough credit for the emotions he could bring to a song at a young age. Therefore, I'm requesting gospel songs that he recorded at the age of 22: It Is No Secret;Take My Hand, Precious Lord; I Believe; and Peace in the Valley.
No one has ever beat Elvis but once. Listen to Jackie Wilson's version. It's the greatest I've ever heard. Incidently, Elvis and Jackie were close friends. He also paid Wilsons medical bills when he was hospitalized. Please give a listen to Jackie Wilson.
James, you should also listen to two takes Elvis doing private recordings of this song when he was in the Army in 1959. He served in Germany.

Lovely reaction. The pathos and vulnerability in his voice is incredible. I've been listening to Elvis since I was a child and my dad would always play the albums he made in 76/77 towards the end of his life and they got me back then as they still do now. Songs like Love Coming Down, Pieces of my Life....they are almost him reflecting on his life, prophecising his own death. You can hear/feel how tired he is mentally but it all comes out through his voice and it just stirs up all this emotion, some 45 yrs after. I am only 40 so obviously never knew of Elvis while he was alive. X
So ,sad ,what ,a voice , just think of how many ,elvis songs off his albums ,would ,of made many a hit singel ,ie. Let it be me,,there is so many ,this song brings tears to my eyes,as i lost my wife annie dale in agust the 10th 2020 ,she was a nurse for 23 years ,,and just 60years ,old ,her lungs packed in ,so every where in the house ,we had oxegen cylinders ,i am lost ,with out her. I still ,use her email address,but i am charlie dale ,her husband ,replying to this ,at her funerel she ,asked us to ,play ,ill remeber you by elvis ,which ,i can,t play any more as it breaks me up.🕯💦
The thing is with Sir Elvis, it is not about not this song only. it's all the songs and his own interpretations. HE takes you to wherever with each song, And this explains why over 40 years since his passing, we are still listening, and you and other generations are discovering this beautiful human being and his SOUL. Singers come and singers go, but look at this Iconic and phenomenal man, he was given the full package by the man up above. Who else has overtaken him in everything? NONE. I also do respect all other artists, but some artist died and their legacy died with them, but not Sir Elvis. I just wish that he had lived a bit longer and get knighted by the queen but it was not to be. So I will just call him Sir Elvis from 2022. Keep up the journey James 😁

I have been an Elvis fan since I was young, I am 72 now. Elvis had the rare ability to make every song he sung his own.
For me there is only one other artist who has that same ability. She is just 21 now, but at the time this was recorded she was just 10 years old. This recording was of the the FIRST and ONLY time she has ever sung "Danny Boy" she has NEVER sung it since. Elvis IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SINGER, but for me Jackie Evancho's "Danny Boy" is a Masterpiece For The Ages. The recording feature Chris Botti on trumpet.

Have to admit I find the verse where he talks about ‘treading soft above me’ extremely emotional as I always think of the times I’ve been luckily enough to visit his grave at Graceland. I loved your reaction! I have been an ELVIS fan since birth... and I was born in 1957 in NEW ALBANY, MISSISSIPPI. NEW ALBANY is about 20 miles North of TUPELO, ELVIS' birthplace. So it was destiny for me to be drawn to ELVIS! PLEASE play "SOLITAIRE" for me. Even though it was a cover, it is as if it were written about the life of the man, ELVIS PRESLEY! It is one of my favorite songs of his. But, every song of his is one of my favorites. Another older song is "FAME and FORTUNE", play it also if you will! You are rapidly becoming my favorite reactor! I remember watching a bbc documentary about the song Danny Boy (part of a series about famous songs). It covered most of the famous interpretations - towards the end the expert said the best ever interpretation was by Elvis. I think she was referring to the private recording he made whilst in the army. I was so happy! Love your videos, keep them coming.
