Paul Simon of Simon and Garfunkel, who wrote this song and had a number one hit with it, gave Elvis the biggest compliment ever. He said after hearing Elvis sings this song I don’t ever want to sing it again. !! Which is why he is forever the king !! no one performer will ever affect the world the way Elvis Presley did and still does

Elvis can and did sing every type of music. He sang Rock and Roll, R & B, Country, and, of course, Gospel. Listen to him sing How Great Thou Art and if I Can Dream, In The Ghetto and Green Green Grass of Home and American Trilogy. He did it all, sang it all and is the best singers and entertainer that ever or will ever live. Add to that, he was humble, generous, and spiritual. Welcome to the world of the King, Elvis Presley.

Now that you’ve listened to this you may start to understand why people from across the generations loved Elvis. He was a once in a lifetime talent, and we will never see it again. Elvis was none of the things these impersonators made him out to be. He was born dirt poor in Mississippi, and moved to Memphis, Tennessee as a young child. He grew up in the projects and honed his craft in the black churches of Memphis. He was very religious and kind to everyone. He was the first superstar to insist his black backup singers be allowed to stay and eat in the same hotel as him. Do yourself a favor, and listen to more of Elvis music. One in particular he did on his 68 Comeback Special, was done with his good friend Dr. Martin Luther King in mind. Dr. King had been killed recently, and with lines from his I Have A Dream speech, Elvis chose to sing this song against his managers wishes. It is called, If I Can Dream. Then My Way, American Trilogy to name a couple more.

Elvis was one of the finest singers and musicians in the world with a unique and recognizable voice.
He was beautiful, inventive, extremely talented, empathetic, and one of the most beautiful souls in the world. He gave to those in need like no other.
He changed an entire generation and had an enormous influence on music and the way it was performed. He influenced fashion, hairstyles, and much more.
Nobody is called "The King" for nothing!
It`s a shame that people are so ignorant about the world in general but also where Elvis is concerned.
I`m glad you discovered Elvis and liked his performance :)
Thank you for a beautiful reaction.

46 years after his death, people are still calling Elvis the King of Rock'n'Roll, but he didn't like that title, he believed that the only King was God and he actually told this to his fans several times, he said: I believe that God is the only true king.
I think that Elvis is and only the king of Rock'n roll, he is the king of music because he can sing very well in any genre, but what do you think, is he good enough to be called a music king?
Elvis was really in my mind, the King of GOSPEL and other music, no one does it better then him, he is best known for making Rockn roll famous, so he was called The King of Rockn roll, but he never liked that people called him that.
He repeatedly stopped fans who said that he was the king of rock'n roll, telling them:
I'm just an entertainer and singer, God is the only true King (sometimes he adde and that it Christ)!!
Elvis was born in the poor parts of Tupelo Missisippi and it was mainly Afroamericans living there, at the place where Elvis family lived there only lived 3 more white familys, the rest was colored people, his family was dirtpoor until he became an artist after singing in a mainly colored peoples church during his childhood.
Did you know that he had several friends that where Afroamericans, one of his friends where James Brown, yes THAT James Brown (The King of Soul), another artist was B.B King, yes that B.B King...
He also was a good friend with Mohamed Ali, yes the GREATEST boxer of all time, he even had a Robe made for him, but it was to much bling on it so Ali wouldn't where it more then one time to a fight.
He really admired Martin Luther King very much, Elvis felt that all people are equal, unfortually he never got to meet him, that would have created to much problems for both of them at that time.
He had several medical problems, Glaucoma, (Insomnia) sleeping problems, irritable bowel syndrome and that will make you constipated, these are things that affected his real life and made him need medication to function.
Yes, he took medicines that today are considered to be called drugs, but at that time doctors prescribed it to him and to ordinary people, they did not know of the problems it could give people (side effects).
He never took any so-called street drugs, but unfortunately he did not realize that those medications would be a problem for him, he thought that they where ordinary medicine because his doctor prescribed them to him and to everyone else that needed it.
Many of his relativs died at a relatively young age, so even if he wouldn't have the medication, he might have died at about the same age.
He could never be alone and thus himself, at that time the word superstar did not exist, so nothing could prepare him for that kind of life.
Did you know that a big group of white people actually smashed his records and wanted to ban his music, just because they called the music he did so called N... music, that is so painfun to think that some people actually can think like that, skincolor is just color and nothing more, when will people realise that?
There are some videos of when Elvis joking and messing up, he loved to joke around and pretend that he did not have control, but he had total control, he acctually conducted his musicans and back up choirs all the time !
He is the only person to have 2 records gone to sell Gold and 2 to to sell Platinum since he died.
Elvis is also in almost every genre of Music Hall of Fame (5 that I'm sure of Rock 'n' Roll, Country, Gospel, Rockabilly and Rhythm and Blues), if Gospel is a genre in Music Hall of fame, then he should be in there to, but no one else is in more then perhaps 2 genres.
Not bad for someone who never took a single singing lesson, yes he sang in church so perhaps he learned a little there, right?
Something else that people tend to overlook:
He always conducts his musicans and backup singers, he never gets credit for being able to do that.
Imagen you are a singer, you have great musicans, you have great backup singers, no Guest Artists, no Autotune, no Lipsinging and no Fireworks, now all is about your skill, could you handle that pressure?
At the time when Elvis started, then Autotune did not exist yet and when it became availible, then he still did not use it, he did not need to, he always sang so that you could hear every word that he sang, the Fans always felt that he sang to just you !
That is what Elvis did in over 1600 concerts (during his 20 years as an artist), despite having problems with his health, like his Glaucoma, the headlights must have hurt his eyes like crazy.
He sang over 800 songs, I wonder how he could remember them all, he never vrote a song himself, so he had to remember other peoples lyrics, well that is amazing in it self.
By the way he had Glucomea and that must have been difficult being in the headlights all the time, that could be why he sometimes closes his eyes, but also sometimes squinting !
This unfortually made him temporary blind after the shows, that is why they led him of the stage and into his car, that is something that not many people knew about Elvis.
Elvis suits was made of 100% Polyester, or 100 cotton (I'm not sure witch one), it was originally a karate suit, it was very light, but it was hot, so it made him sweat a lot, he got some bad press about that, but if you give it all then you will sweat, it should be positive, right?
About the deep basevoice JD Sumner (a member of The Stamps Quartet) he is the Basso Profundo, I think it's called that, it is the deepest base singer there is.
A video about him helping others, look at this: ua-cam.com/video/CrJ1c9tm-C0/v-deo.html
Elvis made a show where all the money went to build the Memorial after Pearl Harbour, he talked to the nations about taking the Poliovaccin, Elvis took the first injection himself, he helped by donating a big amount of money to St Jude hospital, they fight against cancer (especially children with), he also gave away juwelery, gave away cars, he even gave away some houses to total strangers.
Elvis started an organization that helps people to get out of Homelessness (Presley Charitable Foundation), this organization helps people even now close to 50 years after he passed away.
A thing that you perhaps did not know: Elvis ALMOST NEVER did a show OUTSIDE OF USA, yes he did sing a few in Canada: 4 concerts, 2 in Toronto, 1 in Ottowa and 1 time in Vancouver (during the 50:s).
When the Aloha From Hawaii (Live in Honolulu 1973) was showed it had close to 1.5 Billion viewers from around the whole world and 3.7 billion people lived on earth at this time, so it was close to 1/3 of all of the population on earth that wiewed the show, it was the first time a single artist was shown LIVE around the globe.
Video of Mohammad Ali speech after Elvis died:
    ua-cam.com/video/PO8Kq_3KTyI/v-deo.html
I have to say that I loved being at Graceland and seeing his home, first we were at the house in Tupelo where he lived in his early years, he was born there !
You don't have a guide taking you on a tour, you can go all over yourself, but stay outside of the ropes and do not attempt to go upstairs, the outside is huge, so is the house, but you don't realise that from the front of the house.
I don't regret for a second that I was there, or that I stood at his grave site and said out loud that this is for the humanitarian Elvis/the person/the man and then I gave him a military salute, the others there just looked at me and asked if I didn't like his music.
So I told them that he was clearly one of the best singers and artists ever, but I loved his big heart more, he helped so many people without getting credit for it, he didn't want the credit of helping others, he did it out of love and respect and to me that is what true charity is all about.
This PLACE (GRACELAND) should be a protected part of music history and also American history forever, I think that people will keep coming for years and years and years to come !
Elvis did lots of things for America to, he helped in a big way to avoid getting Polio (he took the vaccin in a tv show and that made the intrest for taking the vaccin to go up from 0,6 % all the way up to 80 % in 6 months), so in 6 months he got 79.4 % more of the American people take the Polio vaccin and shortly after it was eradicated from USA, he also helped in the figth to defeat Cancer by helping to build up St Judes children cancer treatment clinic by donating a huge amount of money to them, he also helped to build the Memorial over Pearl Harbour and many other things!

Elvis had one of the most incredible gifts of all time. His amazing voice, his understanding of so many genres of music, his arranging. He could sing in 3 perfect octaves, play piano and guitar by ear and had perfect pitch. His reputation for showmanship is what many remember never knowing what a true and once in a lifetime talent/treasure he was. Please go down the Elvis rabbit hole and discover so much more. Check out "What Now My Love", the rehearsal version from the "Aloha From Hawaii Concert" in 1972. Will blow you away. Also checkout any/every performance he does in the 68 Comback Special.

He sang everything from gospel to opera, he had a 23 year career and he tried every avenue of music, he was also executive producer of his sound. He hand selected his band and backup singings. that is why he is the single best selling artist of all time. Diverse and having grown up in a black ghetto in Mississippi went to a black church and ended up in Memphis hanging out in the home of the blues, made 31 movies, and recorded over 700 songs. His gospel also is know all over the world, I hope you will react to "If I Can Dream", "In the Ghetto", and "Trying to get to You", I am 80 years old and have been a fan since 1956, this man was one of the most generous humanitarians that ever lived. thanks for your wonderful reaction. Elvis Presley wasn't 'just' an early pioneer of Rock & Roll nor 'just' a fantastic entertainer. He is widely appreciated as one of if not the best male vocalists of not only his own time but to this day. He sparked a cultural revolution. Even in his early career when Elvis 'exploded' onto the scene as a Rock & Roll singer, he was also performing and recording ballads, country and gospel music. Elvis recorded more than 700 songs. Elvis was influenced by a variety of singers - R&B, Blues, white gospel music, Black gospel music and country meshing them all into one unique sound. He bridged the gap between the then segregated music of Black and white singers. Elvis was also an early pioneer of Rockabilly music. The fact that he was charismatic, charming, very good looking & 'cool' besides his enormous talent, provided young people of the time with music that was clearly identifiable as their music and not that up until that time was mainly the music of their parents.

BRO, It's not just showmanship, but rather nearly every move or gesture ELVIS would make, was because not only was he the singer; but the band and orchestra director, and whatever else happened on stage he was in control of. ELVIS was a Southern gentleman through and through. There is a treasure trove of his rehearsals on video, each of them with ELVIS gently reworking a song until he was satisfied, every nuance of it to perfection.
Notice his beautiful lady background singers. Preparing to leave for a sold-out show in Dallas, Texas, ELVIS was told, "Well, you can leave the Black girls home"; to which he responded, "If they can't come along, I won't be there." Racial segregation still had it's hold in America yet in 1972.
ELVIS, to his much deserved credit, played a significant role in changing the "climate" of society; bringing together the races as one, we're all simply Americans.

No one sings like this man. Especially these days. Almost all singers today have 20 people behind them dancing and lights flashing everywhere because they can't capture the audience as Elvis did. Who else do you know who can stand there with nothing but his looks and voice and captivate you? Only Elvis.

Elvis was one that no matter how loud or intense his voice he never sounded like he was screaming.
In one rehearsal he started yodeling and it was awesome. The girls chimed in, and he was loving it.
He could whistle better than any I’ve heard also.

He had about 800 songs before he died in August 16, 1977. The day the world stood still. He’s still an icon 46 yrs after his death. They still have a gigantic candlelight vigil for him and a week of celebration of his life by thousands of people who gather at Graceland from around the world. He’s known anywhere in the world by his first name. One of his talents was that he could sing Rock, rhythm and blues, country and Gospel. Boy could he sing Gospel. Won 3 Grammys for it and he’s in 4 or 5 Halls of Fame. His range and power and passion when he sang is unbeatable today. It’s so unique. His voice is one of a kind and I love all kinds of singers. But Elvis can pick me up, make me dance or bring me to tears. He’s so emotive when he sings. On top of it despite nasty rumors that aren’t true. He was a kind, gentle, humble and extremely generous man who’d take a ring off and hand it to a poor person. Gave anonymously to individuals who didn’t tell the stories till after his death. Read in the paper one day while eating his breakfast that a black woman had been using a scooter all her life to get around. He and his wife and friends bought her an electric wheelchair and took it to her house. Showed her how to use it and left. Told by his friend who was with him” she didn’t even know who you were”, he said “ that’s not what is important “. An extremely spiritual man who believed strongly in God and read the Bible every day and jotted notes in the margins which can be seen in his archives. You are absolutely correct. A good lesson for all of us to not judge a book by it’s cover. It’d be a far greater world if we didn’t. Thank you Sir, that was beautiful. ❤❤🙏🏼🙏🏼🌹🌹🎸🕺🏻🎤

Elvis had four distinct periods in his career. His young rock period where he “jiggled ” his legs as people do when they are young, then his movie career period, a gospel career, then what you are hearing. He chose and directed his music. Elvis will make you cry with his voice. So beautiful. Play “Crying in the Chapel”, beautiful song
