He was right and I'm not being a blind Elvis supporter, it truly is the best and this song is often massacred in the UK at least, along with "My Way". My mother isn't an Elvis fan, never was and I say "But the Vegas Elvis later years...what a voice!?" She says "Never liked him" Oh well, what might seem beyond doubt in some people's eyes is actually doubted by many... it's life and life only.
His ability to PRONUNCIATION EVERY SYLLABLE with such a unique voice makes him a one of a kind talent. This Irish classic was handled PERFECTLY by Elvis. Its an overwhelming song and Elvis' ability to transfer and enact emotions with his ALWAYS IN KEY and DEEP RICH BARITONE is so powerful here. A CLASSIC. God gifted beyond comprehension. Those of us that can sing, professionally, can only look at this and appreciate the raw ability of Elvis'. And classically untrained? You don't see very many people make it to this level without being classically trained. And quite realistically he was the ONLY ONE to make it as far as he did, the greatest selling musician of all time.
Amen!.He definitely was once in a lifetime entertainer, and person, he had a magnetism about him I don’t know how anyone could not like him there’s no other voice, in my opinion that can touch his.
Danny Boy is not an Irish song. Danny Boy is set to an old Irish aire while the lyrics were written by an Englishman to entice Irishmen to volunteer to joining the British military during the World War One.
@@fredbloggs6080 The original LYRICS were written by an English lawyer, Frederic Weatherly, but the MUSIC is PURE IRISH. A few years after he put pen to paper, Weatherly’s Irish-born sister-in-law sent him the tune ‘Londonderry Air’. The lawyer, captured by the sweeping melody, tweaked his lyrics and set them to the music. In 1851, a woman called Jane Ross heard an unnamed fiddler playing it in Limavady, Ireland. Ross asked if she could transcribe the music for her friend in Dublin, who was trying to preserve the ancient music of Ireland. The fiddler, whose name has sadly been lost in the annals, agreed. Since then its known as an anthem of Ireland. And the Irish are very proud of the song, and it's meaning.
I couldn't help but cry. It's been awhile since hearing Elvis sing Danny Boy. Dani, I have watched your beautiful Elvis reactions the past couple of days. I love seeing new fans of Elvis. I was 18 when we lost Elvis August 16, 1977. I visited Graceland the summer of 1986. The cars were still there too. Minnie was living there. We weren't allowed in the kitchen or upstairs. Brought tears to my eyes too. My father had a friend named Danny who used to ask him to sing this song over his grave. His friend died young. The first time I heard this song I saw that he had tears in his eyes and he told me why. I believe it was the Bing Crosby version, I know it was long before Elvis released this beautiful version.
There is another version where he soars to a higher note on the word "then" in the line "and then my grave shall richer sweeter be." Also on other lines, he does the same thing to heighten the emotion of this song. I think I speak for everybody when I say I appreciate you showing your emotional reaction to Danny Boy. Elvis = 31 Billboard number 1 hits. No one came close. Beatles with 20. That's as close as anyone got in almost a century of people trying. (July 27, 1940 Billboard started tracking best selling hit songs)
If I want to watch reaction videos, I want an honest reaction. Holding back emotions is the opposite of sharing with others. Please don’t be afraid to cry.
This is an old Irish tenor standard. I always like your reactions and you are always beautiful and sweet. Unfortunately, this is not the original recorded version Elvis did of this song. The original version was when he was much younger and was a tenor. You can tell this was done later in his career when his voice was more matured and more of a baritone. The original version was also done in the traditional Irish style. If this choked you up you should hear the original because it is truly a one-of-a-kind version of this song. This version is good, as all Elvis songs are, and I honestly have never heard this version before. Elvis has also done many other ethnic standards including Santa Lucia (Italian), Wooden Heart (German), and Guadalajara (Mexican).
My buddy David Briggs played the piano on this. David played on all of Elvis's recordings from 1966 till the Moody Blue album recorded in January of 1976 and would be Elvis's last record. David didn't play on the American Sound or STAX recordings. David ran all the recordings for RCA that were done at Graceland. Danny Boy may be the very best vocal Elvis ever gave.
Hey Dani, if I might be permitted a suggestion for a reaction video, may I suggest one of ABBA's BRAND NEW releases...yes, that's right, they are back together and just released two new singles in advance of their new album coming out in November and their new concert next May! So anyway, the first single "I Still Have Faith In You" is something of a tribute to each other and has more of a "theatrical" sound to it. The second single "Don't Shut Me Down" has more of the old ABBA disco sound. Thank you for your consideration. Wishing you all the best.
Please listen to these songs by Elvis. ANY DAY NOW, BABY YOUR WEARING THAT LOVED ON LOOK & TRUE LOVE TRAVELS ON A GRAVEL ROAD. I think you will love them as I do. Elvis is the greatest singer of all time. I have adored him for years. Thanks, Carma
An ode to/for his twin Jesse Garon. Andrew Presley, Elvis' ancestor who emigrated to the United States of America, lived at the foot of Eagle Hill, Hacketstown, Co. Carlow, Ireland. The Irish Presley family remained in Hacketstown until the 1920s.
An Irish mom saying goodbye to her Danny Boy...leaving for America during the Great Hunger...Famine. Knowing she will never see him again... Hence the term an "Irish Wake" a party to say farewell forever..

Wow that;s so cool about your friend David. He must have shared some great Elvis stories.
To be honest, I sobbed like a blubbering idiot during this one. Thank you for this!
He recorded this song at the request of his father Vernon
Such a great singer doing a great song .
No1. Buy. Far. Far. Greatest. Biggest icon. Ever. C. Hear. Hear. Much. Longer. Wet. Rag. Drains out. Every. On ce emotion. Nobody.
Beautiful song
Hey Dani, if I might be permitted a suggestion for a reaction video, may I suggest one of ABBA's BRAND NEW releases...yes, that's right, they are back together and just released two new singles in advance of their new album coming out in November and their new concert next May! So anyway, the first single "I Still Have Faith In You" is something of a tribute to each other and has more of a "theatrical" sound to it. The second single "Don't Shut Me Down" has more of the old ABBA disco sound. Thank you for your consideration. Wishing you all the best.
I can just say oh my Lord. Elvis is the Greatest.😪👑🌹💋
That's not what it says in his family tree.

I deal in historical facts.
@@johnjohns6181 Where are you getting these facts from?
I live near Eagle Hill.
@@johnjohns6181 That doesn't mean anything, the 'Presley's' came from Germany, did you know 'Danny boy' is an English song.
An Irish mom saying goodbye to her Danny Boy...leaving for America during the Great Hunger...Famine. Knowing she will never see him again... Hence the term an "Irish Wake" a party to say farewell forever..
Was at Graceland last week
