    My oil pressure idles 35-45 between 170-182 degrees on my peterbilt. I get 65-70 psi at optimum temps and rpm’s 1500-1750rpm. If you got a bad oil pump you’ll know because it will show a warning light on the dash and low oil pressure. Fyi

    Hensley not good if too high shouldn't go to 50 psi better replace it than cost more money

    My truck was warm and it just started giving me a check engine light and noticed my oil PSI isn't going above 55 while driving.

    hey sir, GM and Ford loves oil pressure gauge in their pickup truck, I am more familiar with BMW and Mopar which they use oil temp quite often. which gauge is better if I tow a lot?
    To be honest, I don't see the benefit of oil pressure gauge, it will only act abnormal when my engine is going down. Oil temp gauge can prevent potential overheat which i think it's a better gauge.

      He’s talking about semis not pickups, completely different engines we need oil pressure guages

      The only code or light that will come on is if it's too low. My Daytona has 100 psi till it warms up

      That's the oppe site way, either bad oil pump or maybe a clocked oil pump screen, bad head gasket. So on

    I also noticed when switching to 15w 40 from 10w 30 oil that my pressure shot up both idling and cruising.

    • @timmay2k
      @timmay2k 2 роки тому +1

      Be careful with that 10w30. Not all diesels are compatible.

    • @maxenra
      @maxenra 2 роки тому

      @@timmay2k I stopped using the 10W 30. Its what was in the truck to begin with, though the newer volvo engines are coming from the factory that way. Also, my uptick in oil pressure was from a faulty oil pressure sensor. Imagine that.

    • @yeahno1016
      @yeahno1016 2 роки тому

      @@maxenra I’m thinking I have a faulty gauge as well. I’ve had this truck 2.5 years and oil pressure oddly high 70 is normal for me. Haven’t blown and seals or gaskets so thinking more like hoping just faulty

    What about normal oil pressure when cold but at operating temp it goes higher than normal. Then, as RPM's go up, oil pressure goes down?

    What should oil pressure be when I first turn it on?

  • @briantmartin83
    @briantmartin83 4 роки тому +4

    You did not cover the issue.. The oil pump relief valve could be stuck.

    • @tips4truckers252
      @tips4truckers252  4 роки тому +2

      The point is there is no issue. If you have high oil pressure when the engine is cold you have nothing to worry about its normal.

    • @jasondeguire6322
      @jasondeguire6322 3 роки тому +4

      @@the_car_guy5915 Yeah... when you run too high on oil pressure you blow out oil seals and then you don't have any oil pressure because you don't have any oil.

    My oil temperature is always at 180 the same as the coolant temperature but when I drive the oil temperature always at 210 or 220 is that normal

    • @tips4truckers252
      @tips4truckers252  3 місяці тому

      Perfectly normal. Under a load the oil should get hotter than the coolant and the coolant cools faster.
