I used to tow cars off the MA turnpike and it was amazing how many cars died because the quickie oil change places including Jiffy Lube never re-tightened the oil pan plug and they made it to the highway before they blew the engine, I never saw any one of these places own up and pay for a new engine, not once, 'the fine print' that noone ever reads !!!
In 2004, Jiffy Lube in Mukilteo, Wa., for an oil change and they told me I needed to change the differential fluid on my 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. I said no, I would rather take it to the dealer (Jiffy Lube was next door to my work and the dealership was way out of the way). They told me their computer program would tell them exactly which fluid I needed, and they showed me the screen. I gave in and…they put the wrong fluid in my differential because I had a severe whine and when I did take it to the dealership that’s what they told me. So I went back to that Jiffy Lube and told them they needed to pay for my repair, and the manager said, “That’s what the computer told us.”, and that was that.
My last time at Jiffy Lube, for an oil change, involved the service tech telling me that a girl/helper? had been playing with my vibrator seat cushion (a serious professional violation). Then at one point he yelled at her to turn off the engine. When I got home I noticed oil dripping and evidence that the engine was running with the oil filter out. There had also been other times when I felt there was suspicious/sketchy behavior at a different location; so this was the last straw.
@@scotts4125 Whatever you wish. But I bought my last car/caravan in 2012 from a top rated dealer in Metro D.C. and have had it serviced only at that dealer with 1st class results. The jiffy lube was/is on the same highway just a few blocks from the dodge dealer. Both accounts are true.
@@jgreg9706 I was just messing with you about the vibrator thing. They actually messed something up on an ex wifes car. Took it there for an oil change and they drained the transmission and over filled the oil. Drove it about a mile and had it towed to the dealer. Believe it or not no damage was done but they paid to have the tranny and oil serviced at the dealer. They mailed me a check for the dealers fee. I assume they realized they got off pretty easy.
Every time I go to grease monkey oil change I have to crawl under my car and make sure the oil drain plug is tight. So I just started changing my oil myself.
Well, as far as employees go.. getting paid less or =/= to a fast food worker are you surprised? They aren't mechanics they are walmart lube techs basically.

Jiffy Leak is not to place to have an inspection performed, let alone any fluid service other than an oil change. They even manage bungling a simple oil change.
I haven't been to Jiffy since the 80s when they changed my oil on the 1976 Trans Am. I got about 3 miles away when the rods started knocking and I shut the car off right away. They didn't put the oil filter on tight enough and oil was leaking like crazy. Of course they denied wrong doing !
I too believe in living dangerously. Goodness, the few times I had to go to such a place I let them know I am a DIY and I will be following up with my own inspection.
I went there one time in a pinch for an oil change. I wasn't impressed with them. I'll never go back to a quick lube place even in a pinch ever again. Thx for the video's Boss!
I had Jiffy Lube rotate my tires. That’s literally all they had to do. I do my own maintenance but at the time I didn’t have a jack or jack stands to do rotations. I pulled out about 10 feet and stopped. They didn’t tighten the lugs. 🤦♂️
Dealer only service transmission on 4rnr. I do all undercarriage fluids. Oil service shop overtightened oil drain plug cause they did not use gasket! Last time they got my business.
I feel so bad for people who unknowingly purchased these cruze’s, easily one of the biggest piles of junk on the road, and owners don’t know it until the repairs start stacking up
Its only a piece of junk to those who dont know how to turn a wrench. The parts are cheap to buy and easily replaceable. Mines has 150k on it and runs like a champ.
@@mikebradford7780 for sure, my point is for people who need to pay to have their car serviced. Most of the parts aren’t super expensive, but if you’re paying someone else to do it it adds up. You’re guaranteed an intake, valve cover, turbo, coolant parts, and have seen several overheated and blow head gaskets, etc. Just like most other cars if you do the work yourself and stay on top of it then I’m sure it’ll give you tons of fun mileage. I’m not trashing you for enjoying the car, just saying it sucks for people who don’t know any better, just like people who buy German cars with loads of miles on them and don’t know what they’re getting into
The big weakness in the cruze, especially the first gen is the pcv system. People keep dumping a valve cover on them and blow it out again because they didn't actually replace the pcv valve.
I have heard horror stories about Jiffy Lube. I brought my Toyota into the dealer to get the transmission fluid replenished (not changed). I change my own oil, I know I won't over tighten the cartridge filter and i know I have put the correct oil and proper amount in the car. Your customer was smart to come to you to have the car double checked.
Not Jiffy lube but another shop had to put a new Engine in my dad’s girlfriend daughter car because they forgot to fill it with oil . it was a real fight to get them to pay for it too
This cheap car is almost 10yrs old = a good time to get things fixed and fluid and filters changed. -Pretty good shape actually and not the most reliable car either. Need some PB blaster Surface shield touch ups in areas, but otherwise in excellent shape for a Chicago salt car.
Honestly, I feel bad that people think jiffy lube will do a good job… the only good job they are doing is helping (along with the other customers of course) keep small businesses like yours in business.
What is the process for a 2020 escape coolant flush. It had 30k miles should I just do a drain and fill or flush. With the flush I’m worried that using a 50/50 coolant will be watered down by the water left in the engine block after flush
So that is the fill to spill procedure, to remove level port bolt until it stops pouring out? This or an actual replace what you removed? I know you're coming in behind somebody so, how would you have done it from the start?
When you found the transmission fill plug and stated that no one touched the fill plug because it had fluid on it how can you say that they overfilled the transmission fluid?
I recently did a transmission fluid change on a toyota sienna 2012 and a dodge dart 2013 not just the transmission fluid but also an oil change. Its not just JiffyLube, Its also the dealers that make these mistakes too. It all depends on the tech working on your vehicle
Just say any shop at that point
Ahhh bs, the chances are way less at an actual shop

These cruzs have zero tolerance motors that the dealer tells the consumer nothing about which in my opinion as a mechanic is predatory.

Drain and fill it
