    To the untrained eye, you wouldn't even believe that rig is from 1991. It looks so good, and almost 2000's in style. Mack did fantastic with this truck.

      tn18977 they will definitely set you back in your seat but the usable RPM range on those big diesels is relatively short. You have a lot of gears to stir and even just the bobtail truck can still weigh up to 20,000 + lbs. they are torque monsters but certainly not speedy off the line. :)

      @largol33t1 5 років тому +1

      @@SavageBunny1 That would be very risky. The trailer could lose its rear grip and snap around in FRONT of you! If you hear a squealing sound, look in the rearview mirror and see your own damn trailer coming towards you, you're screwed. Truckers call it a "jackknife" and it's their worst nightmare. The trailer will continue to slide until it strikes the back of the semi and cause it to spin out. If you're lucky, it won't roll over. I've seen this happen on the highway between Texas and Oklahoma once and it's SCARY. The semi rolled over. Fortunately, he escaped with only minor injuries.

    41.5 seconds @ 40 mph is pretty damn impressive for a big-ass truck with trailer. That's only 3-4 times slower than a legitimately fast car, but how many thousands of pounds more does the rig weigh? Way more than 3-4 times, that's for sure.

      Michael Gillette there aren't any they all cost good money to repair. What you fail to realize is that parts availability for a Mack triple countershaft and an Eaton RTLO are completely different. EVERY dealer network stocks Eaton parts, I used to work for Mack in Toronto and we didn't even stock Mack trans components but sure as shit had eaton. Downtime costs more than parts and labour. And if you've repaired Eaton and Mack trans you'll know the Eaton is superior. NGL it does look like it's from at least very late 1990s and up until mid 2000s! fantastic design! much sleek! definitely prefer this compared to its predecessor.
    this and ford's aeromax. THE best looking American truck in my opinion.

    I can't believe that this truck that I've seen millions of times was once called a "show truck". Like holy shit, this used to be the FUTURE OF TRUCKING but now it's just an everyday truck.

    Just upgrade the lights and this a better version of a modern truck. No DPF, DEF system and most of all no millions of sensors that just result in down time.

    Mack used that E7 all the way up to 2007 model year. The CH Rawhide and Vision 100th anniversary edition are the coolest Macks ever made IMO.

    It amazes me how the HP and torque numbers of the current model diesel HD pickup trucks come close to what this Mack put out back then. Insane.

    • @Gmtail
      @Gmtail 7 років тому

      Class Act I can't disagree there. Obviously the big rigs are meant for abuse everyday but still the numbers on the current pickup trucks are crazy high. As are the prices. Lol

      not good the company i run for has been running these ch since brand new a lotts things don't work right anymore. but that motor sounds like cat pulling 100,000 lbs and they ditched the mack trans for eaton fullers. and if you break a leaf sprinf good luck finding any in the U.S. My company had to order them from overseas. and this trucks are getting rare in the states due to africa wanting them now.

    3:06 almost car like? Did you ride in the truck? No semi ride almost like a car. This is how much technology has change. I drive a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia (it still don't ride almost like a car) and it make 500 hp 1650 pot but get 7.8 mpg at 65 mph. The tail pipe come out under the frame. I can stand next to the exhaust pipe and I can't smell nothing. Not even diesel fumes.

      @amv12vantage 7 років тому +2

      blackericdenice I work for a major leasing company as a tech. The redesigned 2018 cascadias are super smooth. Maybe not on par with a car just yet but way smoother than a truck has any right to be.

      Any TRUE auto/truck guy knows Freightliners are POS garbage !!!, That's why they're so cheap to buy. You want quality/comfort ?? Get a Kenworth or International
