If I'm not mistaken, in previous videos Matt's made the comment that "all of my boys are good drivers". I think he added that they're good because he started teaching them when they were little but I could be wrong about that part. Eitherway, no one gets that kind of confidence and ability by just watching.
I'm amazed to realize that I've been watching this channel since before Rhett was old enough to drive. All of a sudden, Rhett has become an awesome off-road driver. Well done, young man!
All in all an awesome video. The Bronco impresses me every time we see it on the trails. Rhett's confidence and skill on the trails is equally impressive.
Hats off to the drivers, Rhett and Jefe, you're both extremely competent! I'm not surprised that the Banana out performed the Bronco in the rough stuff but I am surprised by how well the Bronco did for a mass produced vehicle with bolt on accessories! That was very impressive!
Lets give this young man Rhett a big hand. His driving skills have really come a LONG WAY. Impressed as heck at them for his age. Had a good instructor too, Matt. Both did a great job in this competition. Wanna see that Bronco after the improvements are done on it. 😀

Thanks for a great side by side video. It’s fun to see how the different vehicles take the same challenges. Y’all treat those dogs better than people-and you already set the gold standard for treating people well in all situations.
Very impressed with the Bronco. After all the mods I’ve watched over the years on the Banana, to have it roll as well as it did with the Banana is impressive. And, with IFS being more a Baja vehicle, it still got through some challenging rock crawling.
Matt, it is clear to me that your dogs are not mistreated and are very happy. If all dog owners did for their dogs what you do for yours, this would be a much better world.
Tribute to Matt. Rhett’s confidence in taking the Banana into sketchy situations shows that he knows that he will be supported by his dad, as opposed to being scolded and punished for a miscalculation or well intentioned mistake. And tribute to Rhett for respecting his father’s opinion.

Amazing how well be Bronco does with how much of an OEM machine it still is. Very little of the Banana is what Jeep did to it years ago, very purpose built for these conditions. Both are excellent rigs, glad the MORR team is well rounded with lots of different equipment.
@mikesmith-bt6um Bumpes, rails, tires, and lights only though. I don't seem much change to the suspension other than a beefier tie rods, maybe I missed it.
Rather tall lift. The steering upgrade that a bronco has to have. I believe axles were down...more than once. There was also another major, I think steering, upgraded part a few episodes back
I'll bet a lot of broncos get sold because of this. As an off the shelf vs a custom build it really shined. Rhett's experience exceeds his years by far. Great video!
That’s why I bought one. Getting to the age where I don’t want to wrench and fabricate anymore. Sold my trail rig bought a Sasquatch Bronco 2 inch lift 37’s and a winch gets me anywhere I want to go these days and in comfort. Also it rides and drives way better than a new rubicon hands down

That was fun to watch. Hefe and Rhett both did great. I am surprised Ford hasn't contacted you guys. I bet lots of folks are considering Broncos after watching how it performs. Hefe is going to have to open a driving school for new Bronco owners.
So I drive a Hyundai Sonata that I just put a trailer hitch to tow a enclosed U-haul trailer on for a camping trip. The final hill and steep grade before arriving at the camp site on a gravel road definitely had me worried for when I had to leave today. So I took what I learned from this channel. I turned off traction control, and f-in GUNNED it and I will be damned, I BARELY made it and had to kinda steer left to right at the very end but I made it! So thank you for the knowledge! It save me a ton of embarrassment!
I'm a Bronco owner and I was completely sure that the Banana was going to be the better rock crawler. But I was surprised at how competitive the Bronco was in this matchup and how well it hung in there! The Banana is a custom built rig with a suspension designed for rock crawling. The Bronco suspension is factory stock on a daily driver chassis! I think that this video showed the Bronco at near it's limits rock crawling while the Banana is capable of a lot more! Great video!
I agree with Jefe......Rhett had an unfair disadvantage since it was his Dad's jeep. He most likely would have gotten thru that obsticle without a spotter but Dad wasn't gonna take the chance 😅 Matt, Rhett's driving skills are awesome. Shows that he watches, learns, and applies. Great job Rhett. Awesome job by both vehicles. Jefe.....loved your "Teeter Totter" everytime it went to three wheels. Thank you for sharing the adventure
Matt, I like how much you let your family members do the driving! A tip of the hat to you! Also, it amazes me that people are so concerned about the dogs! They're having a blast and loving every minute!
Solid Axles are hands down superior when it comes to rock crawling. You can only get so far with IFS. But as you said, IFS is better for speeding up hills like with Sand Chute. Or speeding through the dunes as the ride will be more smoother and suspension will handle far better on IFS.
Hands down? Did you watch the video? Was there somewhere the Banana got that the Bronco couldn't? The Bronco only got stuck because of wheelbase, not front suspension.
Great job guys! I am impressed with the way the Bronco handled the rocks. Solid axle is best for rocks, as you guys demonstrated, but for 99% of us the Bronco would be great because it does better on road and high speed off road. Hats off to Rhett for recognizing his dad's "suggestion" for a spotter meant you really need one for the line he had chosen. Matt was calm and Rhett was accepting of the "suggestion". A camera is a plus. Experience is a plus. Rhett had neither compared to his competition but the Banana and Rhett's confidence in it made up the differences.
I don’t think the sand is too hot for the dogs but it’s kinda funny that Matt who welds without gloves is like “ let me touch this rock to show you it’s not hot. “ This man clearly feels no pain when it comes to temperatures lol
What's even more amazing is that the Bronco came really capable from the factory already. The changes made were made to make it better at the kinds of obstacles it encounters in Hurricane. But it was already pretty good from the factory and that's really a unicorn when it comes to factory cars. The Banana is custom built EXACTLY for these kinds of obstacles and there's nothing factory about it as far as the suspension, drive line and everything that matters for its progression on a trail goes. A factory XJ vs a factory Bronco would see the Bronco win everything every time. And that's what's scaring Matt the most, not that Hefe is going to make the Bronco compete with the Banana, but the fact with only a hand few modifications the Bronco is already where it's at and there's still plenty of room for improvement. What scares Matt is that he might have to make his next recovery vehicle based off a Bronco.
I agree with everything you wrote. The main difference is the cost, you need to be making a good living to afford a Bronco, but most anyone with mechanical skills can build a banana little by little. There also aren't many people that are going to spend 70 grand on a vehicle and then take it rock crawling.
1.) Rhett 👏 dudes impressive 2.) The banana amazes me 3.) I almost bought a bronco in 2021 but got a trd off-road Tacoma, Jefes bronco is impressing me more and more! every time it out preforms what I think it’s capable of and I think Jefe has its dimensions and capabilities dialed!
Los Ford Bronco son unos todoterrenos increíbles, unas piezas de la ingeniería preciosas, mi todoterreno moderno favorito sin duda. E hizo un trabajo espectacular a pesar de estar casi de serie. 🚙🚙🚙
Matt! Great explanation on IFS vs solid front axle. Superior articulation of solid axle makes it a better rock-crawler and IFS is superior with control and handling on high-speed off-roading (Baja style). I believe the Banana also has 40s to the Bronco's 37" which is a decent advantage with rock-crawling.
Matt brought up the IFS comfort in the previous video (so he gives balanced data). I don't notice any discomfort in my solid axle and love that it reduces worries on uneven terrain. Use what works for you. 😊
Rhett's driving skill 😲 .. The Bronco's capabilities 😲 .. A very good explanation of why a solid axle works better at articulation ... what a great video ❤
Matt don't worry about the Dogs 🐕🐕🐕 so much 😉. Your dogs are smarter than 3/4 of the people in the World !!!!!!!!! I have enjoyed your off road adventures 👏👏👏. Take Care ✌️🤠
The Bronco also has the advantage of a flat torque plateau from the turbo engine, so its power "peak" is wider, combined with all those gears to stay in the power peak, and most importantly, those 10 speeds lock the converter almost immediately, there's no power loss through the converter. Real world the Bronco probably has about 30% better power to weight at the wheels, which explains the time difference on the chute.
I love this video, because Matt did a great job of explaining the pros and cons of solid axle versus IFS. I have to say, I am impressed with the Bronco. Obviously, if my livelihood depended on rescuing people from the sand and rocks, I would take the Banana because it’s more capable. But if I had to pick up a rig in Phoenix, or Las Vegas, or Salt Lake City, and drive it to Sand Hollow and go wheeling, I will take the bronco every day. It will go 90% of the place of the Banana will, and it’s basically a daily driver. It’s a production vehicle with bolt-on upgrades that any enthusiast can do.
As someone with no significant off road experience, I am completely amazed that any vehicle can get through some of those obstacles !! Great job guys, both trucks are extremely impressive!
Rhett has come a long way in crawling skills...I'm impressed by the Bronco...can't wait to see improvements...Banana is pretty awsome in all conditions...great side by side comparison...great eduting.
A better test of *just* the vehicle would be to put the same driver in both vehicles, on the same trail. Get Tom Tom to drive the Banana, and then the Bronco… Or vice versa… And see which one does better. That being said, I am not complaining about the video. I believe it was pretty fair.
I gave the new bronco such a hard time when I first saw them out on the roads. I have an entirely different perspective about the new bronco now after watching this challenge. Awesome content guys! I'm loving everything you guys put up.
I am just amazed that Jefe puts his shiny new Bronco through these torture tests... 🙂 shows real confidence in the car and his own skill set... Rhett has become soooo much more than just the kid... he has become a great welder and in this video he really shows his incredible driving skills too... 🙂
@@coyoteden3773I would say it was a gift, not free. He works really hard and not sure what his compensation structure is but often time UA-camrs live on feast or famine for $$
Okay 👍🏻 Got it! Callab Video with Diesel Brothers. Ask Dave to bring a piece of equipment to flush some of that sand, and wipe out the ruts, to make that area more accessible/safe
I don't think anyone has perfected the art of calling out comment trolls, light-heartedly educating them about why/how they're wrong, and doing so in a concise way that doesn't interfere with the flow of the video. I really want to work with MORR!
Another advantage of the live axle front is its much higher roll center, matching that of the rear. The vehicle rolls about its roll axis (the line between the front and rear roll centers); the higher the roll axis, the less the vehicle's center of mass can cause the vehicle to roll over (shorter moment arm). With IFS, the roll axis dips low in the front, just where the center of mass is highest due to the heavy, high engine--extra long roll over moment arm. Anecdotally, desert racers and Razers with their front and rear independents seem to spend most of their lives on their sides and roofs.
Great job everyone on this vehicle comparison test. Had me going "oh no!" a couple times.😮 The dogs were the spotters and knew how to take care of themselves. Thank you for sharing ❤
I have to say Jeffie’s Bronco is quite impressive. If he upgrades the suspension and bumpers it will help tremendously. Don’t get me wrong that Banana is fantastic as we all know. Awesome comparison video!
Fun Fact, the reason Ford went with IFS on the Bronco, is on-road handling. Yes solid axels do better rock crawling, but 99% of people will never need what the difference is. After the trail, you re-engage the sway bar and now you have great handling and ride.
FYI, there's nothing wrong with the way my Cherokee handles, on-road. And for a fraction of the money, I get very similar capabilities to a factory stock Bronco. I was very surprised how well the XJ rides on the highway, especially with a 4" lift and no rear sway bar (went into the scrap bin during the installation of the lift.)
I’m really surprised and impressed at the prowess of the Bronco. Aside from some intended design differences it held its own very well against the Banana. I could be wrong here but I’m thinking the Banana has also had many more modifications from stock than the Bronco as well. Fun video. Your content is second to none.
@@harshmoor2280I think around 55-60k. But if you think about it, it would still cost a lot of money to have someone build jeep for you the way the banana is. Probably more than what the bronco costs.
@@layton9950 you can buy fully built XJ's for $10-15k. Building from scratch only makes sense if you're like Matt and do it all on your own with used/bargain parts.
Yall really are the best comercial for bronco out there I swear. It really holds it weight for a dealer purchase vehicle vs a completely custom built unit.
That was super impressive, for both drivers. Especially Jefe and especially Rhett. I can see why Matt is happy with them using any of the fleet when he is away. I knew they could both drive, but this was an awesome demonstration. Jefe was working overtime getting that modern vehicle through all that stuff. If they switched seats, there would be no keeping up with Jefe, most likely. But there is no way I was that good at wheel placement, at Rhett's age. Rhett stayed smooth throughout, and showed no fatigue in the video. Wow!
I have to say that jefe is a much much better driver than he was a few months ago, I was impressed. I like the bronco and I’ve been studying it, but there’s one thing I hate about it. In front and collision. The crumple zone is the front of the cab where the driver sits. First thing I would do is get a good roll cage in there, internal or external but when these things hit And a front end collision. It just rolls the engine compartment right into the driver and front seat compartment. So a good roll cage secured well in the front and back is a really good idea in these. The banana did great as always.
Jefe has definitely improved so much since having his beautiful Bronco. Rhett does exactly what would be expected considering who his Dad is, lol 🤣 I still feel the Banana seems to go up everything with ease. The Banana is a beast 👍🌞
Good vid. Huge difference in rigs; Current 2023 bronco with IFS, Six more automatic gears, and, a more powerful engine....vs A 90's jeep with some mods, fewer gears, less power.... I know my choice ❤
The dogs live their best lives with you guys, Rhett is remarkable, and the Bronco is growing on me. Best Sunday morning entertainment ever - thank you! And Happy Thanksgiving from Canada!

It will go 90% of the place of the Banana will, and it’s basically a daily driver. It’s a production vehicle with bolt-on upgrades that any enthusiast can do.
Very cool love to see people actually use their off road cars off road !
Rematch!!! No cameras for Jeffe. Rhett's skills behind the wheel are awesome. Outstanding Dude!!!
I know I have been critical of even the new Bronco but I see it has its fine points Just as the banana does. Great job of selecting that rig Matt.
"Yeah, when it has gas in it..."
Actually laughing out loud at the Rory gas edit. Well done!
Extremely impressed, that the "relatively" stock Bronco performed almost as well as the very custom built Jeep. Both extremely capable rigs.
I'm more impressed with the XJ compared to a 90k plus new off roader that's been upgraded as well.
As someone with no significant off road experience, I am completely amazed that any vehicle can get through some of those obstacles !!
Great job guys, both trucks are extremely impressive!
Loved the quick Rory clip "Yeah, when it has gas in it"
The Bronco really impresses me on the Sand Climb.
Rhett has come a long way in crawling skills...I'm impressed by the Bronco...can't wait to see improvements...Banana is pretty awsome in all conditions...great side by side comparison...great eduting.
Love this! Both rigs were so so close in their abilities, and both jefe and rhett were in touch with their rigs. Very impressive!
A better test of *just* the vehicle would be to put the same driver in both vehicles, on the same trail. Get Tom Tom to drive the Banana, and then the Bronco… Or vice versa… And see which one does better. That being said, I am not complaining about the video. I believe it was pretty fair.
Very impressed with Rhett! He also had an amazing teacher! Love you guys!
You guys make that trail look easy!
Thank you for the inspiration.
A couple more years with this crew, Rhett will be a real pro. Altogether a wonderful and enjoyable video.
I gave the new bronco such a hard time when I first saw them out on the roads. I have an entirely different perspective about the new bronco now after watching this challenge. Awesome content guys! I'm loving everything you guys put up.
Never judge anything until you feel it for yourself.
Love Rhett's confidence in how well the Banana would do and then his confidence while driving it are awesome! Good job to both guys and both vehicles.
Thank you Matt for being the voice of logic on the IFS vs straight axle debate lol.
I agree 100% with the solid front axel. Damn impressed with the Bronco.
I am just amazed that Jefe puts his shiny new Bronco through these torture tests... 🙂 shows real confidence in the car and his own skill set... Rhett has become soooo much more than just the kid... he has become a great welder and in this video he really shows his incredible driving skills too... 🙂
It doesn't hurt when you get a bronco for free either..takes the sting out of wheeling it when it's free
@@coyoteden3773I would say it was a gift, not free. He works really hard and not sure what his compensation structure is but often time UA-camrs live on feast or famine for $$
@@coyoteden3773Jefe did give up a side by side. He by far got the better deal, but it wasn't "free".
The way jefe took that obstacle at 21:04 was textbook for the Bronco and showed that he's quite the Pro rock crawler. Great video!!!
I love the Banana! I'd take an old Cherokee over a new Bronco any day. It was great to see Paige yesterday!
Okay 👍🏻 Got it! Callab Video with Diesel Brothers. Ask Dave to bring a piece of equipment to flush some of that sand, and wipe out the ruts, to make that area more accessible/safe
You all are awesome! I love waking up to something fun to watch!
I don't think anyone has perfected the art of calling out comment trolls, light-heartedly educating them about why/how they're wrong, and doing so in a concise way that doesn't interfere with the flow of the video. I really want to work with MORR!
That Bronco is sweet!
Rory hit that nail on the head.
I have to say Jeffie’s Bronco is quite impressive. If he upgrades the suspension and bumpers it will help tremendously. Don’t get me wrong that Banana is fantastic as we all know. Awesome comparison video!
He already did..
30:38 changes coming!
I loved that part with Rory. 😂😂😂😂
it's incredible what these cars can do
Already cracking up in the first seconds of the vid😂😂 Rory is legendary 😂
@@frogdude21XXXhave them doing high speed emergency lane changes and youll start to see the differences
Totally agree with 4 low, even in my sxs or quad 4 low is where you want to be, unless you want to burn out belts
I’m really surprised and impressed at the prowess of the Bronco. Aside from some intended design differences it held its own very well against the Banana. I could be wrong here but I’m thinking the Banana has also had many more modifications from stock than the Bronco as well. Fun video. Your content is second to none.
IsnT that bronco like 80,000 MSRP
@@harshmoor2280I think around 55-60k. But if you think about it, it would still cost a lot of money to have someone build jeep for you the way the banana is. Probably more than what the bronco costs.
@@layton9950 you can buy fully built XJ's for $10-15k. Building from scratch only makes sense if you're like Matt and do it all on your own with used/bargain parts.
I'm impressed by both....I wouldn't have thought the Bronco would do as well as it does....really great!
Good morning MORR!!!
Good vid. Huge difference in rigs;
Current 2023 bronco with IFS, Six more automatic gears, and, a more powerful engine....vs
A 90's jeep with some mods, fewer gears, less power....
I know my choice ❤
The dogs live their best lives with you guys, Rhett is remarkable, and the Bronco is growing on me. Best Sunday morning entertainment ever - thank you! And Happy Thanksgiving from Canada!
Wow that was a lot closer than I thought. “Great DRIVING on BOTH DRIVERS “. You ALL ROCK !!. THANKS
LMAO @ Rory "When it has gas in it".
That Rory cameo is hilarious
