Awesome recovery boys!!! Trevor are awesome buddy!! I always loved them longer recovery’s as long as I had everything that was needed for the job and for the hunger!!! Lol! Years ago there was a rescue mission that we had to go on and it was a semi that was getting off at a rest area and the off ramp to get to the fest area was a circle almost!! Well the semi driver didn’t realize how sharp of a turn it was and literally drove Wright off the side and ended up rolling the flatbed trailer that was loaded full of rough cut lumber and of course the straps didn’t hold the load on the trailer!! So we had to pick up every last board by hand and stack on the forks of a skid loader and haul up the bank and put onto another trailer!! It happened around 4:00pm and we had gotten there a little after 5:30!! There was four of us and then across the interstate there was some Amish guys that showed up just out of the blue and asked if they could help!! There was two or three of them witch definitely helped out a bunch but still didn’t get done until 7:00 to 8:00 the next morning!!! It wasn’t to bad just a lot and a lot of stix to pick up and load on another trailer!!! The Amish was taken care of also for helping us out also!!! All I could think about was how much longer it would have taken if the Amish guys that was so nice to stop by and ask if we needed any help!!! Awesome video guys and remember keep up all the hard work!!!!!
Once I realized where you were going I knew how tough the track would be. My wife and I went in there all the way to the Dollhouse (another 5.5 miles further) in 2018. Technical and slow going. So you Matt and crew are officially the most kick ass recovery crew to be able to go in and pull out that Jeep in one day. Most impressive and I now have you in my contact list, which I hope never to have to use.

My Jeep Cherokee XJ broke down in Monticello, UT in San Juan County almost exactly one year ago today. I was stranded there for a whole week before the replacement AC compressor could be delivered via UPS! Fortunately, I was towing an ATV, so I spent the week exploring the area. Some beautiful and extremely remote area down there!
you guys are simply awesome, with a slight amount of crazy thrown in. fun stuff for sure. Well done...beautiful countryside. thanks for taking us with you!
I drove that road 8 months ago, all the way to Doll House. We went in through Hans Flat and back out through Hite. The route they did once you get north of Teapot Rock it gets very technical. It's not overly difficult for one good vehicle but some parts are tight and would be difficult for towing someone. From Hanksville back to Doll House and back out is 200 miles, mostly offroad, without a place to buy gas. Most offroad vehicles will drop below 10mpg on that technical stuff. If you go out through Hite and if the gas station is open that gives you another option for buying gas. Oh and we were in a red JLU that looked a lot like that one. A JLU under its own power, not towing anything, will drive that road without any problems at all.
My oh my! From Hite area, 2 hours E to Teapot Rock, then 2 hours "rock and roll". Then another half hour...looked like dead jeep was near the Wall Camp (in the Maze area). On the exit, another 4.5 hours back to near the Highway. Then 2 hours N & NE to Green River. Then N, NW to Spanish Fork, then N, NE to Heber City (as video showed). And then all the way back to Orem (to I-15) and then a 4 plus hour drive to Hurricane. Who pays the fees & how much to Rory & Matt for the spartan & tortuous recovery? I've been on the Hite road, on the exit from various Maze camps, multiple times. It's a tedious and long drive, pretty, but exhausting, and then N to Hanksville to gas up (eat) then N to I-70. Most vehicles need extra gas for ventures like this (either down the Flint Trail or Hite Road) to Teapot and then on to Wall, Standing Rock, Chimney Rock and three camps at Doll House region. And the route out, like these people did. The recovered vehicle; if the four wheels were rolling, I don't understand why other vehicles 'in there" couldn't have pulled it out, adjacent to the highway at Hite? And then get towed to Hanksville or Green River? Regardless, great job gentleman, 24 hour spartans.
I feel you guys pain! I just drove 975 miles in 14 hours, yesterday, only stopping for gas and bathrooms. Food was at the gas station. No other drivers available to switch with either. Two teenage boys in the back seat and no one riding shotgun. Brutal. Virginia is home. We were coming back from visiting my sister in West Palm Beach Florida. I love your videos!! Thank you for sharing!! You all rock!!
Wow, a job like that let's you know who your friends are because only real friends would come along. You and your crew are nothing short of heroic to take that on to recover someone else's vehicle. Kudos to you all. You do good work (and good rock stacking).

Great job guys! The customer will be pleased to get his baby back, from the "back of beyond" I just spent 24 hours bogged to the axles in 'Outback' Australia, so grateful for Peter who got me out. Onya' Pete.
I'm a truck driver and back in the day we did some creative paperwork and hearing Matt's slurring words at the end of the day reminds me of the lesson's of how your brain degrades from lack of sleep.
It's equivalent to being drunk. I used to drive 24 hours with a 3 hr sleep when using the ferry. After 21 hours of driving I did not trust myself to drive a vehicle until after another sleep....
Too many quotable moments to count. Matt is mostly asleep and Rory gets it done as usual. Thanks for the fun folks. Oh, and Skeeter gets the award for the most amazing armstrong power steering ever.
Hanksville!! Back in 03 spent a week there as home base for a week of motorcycling all around the area. Visited all the parks and towns. Rates as one of the best MC trips ever in my 50, yes 50 years, of 2 wheeled adventures. Very soon I'm planning a repeat trip, but will be adding Hurricane to the list of places to go and get a Matts Off Road Recovery T-Shirt to the massive collection of shirt from all the travels. Got a toyhauler trailer and a Ram 3500 so I can stay at the RV parks this time. No off roading in the 1 ton though. Learned from this channel about what DOESN'T work out there. Hoping Utah 12 is a beautiful a ride as it was back in the day.
Great job , my wife and I would go exploring in or 1966 FJ-40 and it would always be “ just a little further “ and pretty soon it was oh god I hope we can make it back . It always feels better when you have another vehicle along with you in case things go bad . Thanks for the video
I need a nap after watching this! That all was a huge task. Cool to see you working with Rory, his work is always great. Hey, just my 2 cents, but Skeeter is a big plus on this vids. Dude has skills and and is funny.
I drove from Hite to the Doll House by myself back in 1984.Before GPS,cellphones and all of that stuff. Didn't see anyone for 3 days. The exit route took me up the Flint Trail and then to Green River. I was pretty much running on fumes but did make to a gas station. If you think that area is remote now just think about 38 years ago !!
1. Full agreement on the Tapatio. Points for that. 2. Always love the videos with gratuitous flashbacks--not just to previous moments within the current video, but also to classic moments from previous video. "In this company, we swim in our pants" -that comment and subsequent flashback footage sent me chucklin'.
Great recovery. I drive from western Oregon to San Antonio a couple of times a year. I find that a 10 hour day for me is a long one and that is mostly freeway driving. Your day was crazy long and hard.
Great Video...as always...And BTW...I live in MX and do a fair amount of "service work recovery" on the sand dunes and the beaches. Note to self...NEVER let someone else connect your recovery ropes to their vehicle. I helped a guy get a Yukon out of the sand that was buried to the frame. (Yes I trusted him on his connection to his vehicle). On my first attempt to pull him out, it severed my 200.00 kinetic rope immediately because he attached it to a sharp part of the frame. Although pretty disappointed, I own the mistake. Lesson-learned and shared with you. Finally got him out on my second try with a slip knot (on the severed end of the rope). Now I need to figure out if there is a way to mend this rope or retire it and get a new one. Grrrrr.
I got stuck in a sand dune, the middle of the night, on my B-day, in Death Valley, by myself. It was over a hundred even at 2:00 am. The only thing I did right was told my kid where I was going. DUH!
11:39 The way that Matt told Rory that he came up with spelling his name and saying because he can on the spot is why I watch M.O.R.R, Trail Mater, Fabrats and Laytons channels. hilarious warm hearted hardworking good folks. Thanks for the awesome editing and content!
When I watched Rory's version of this recovery, I didn't appreciate how tough it was going to be to steer that jeep over crazy rough terrain for several hours with no power assist. Skeeter's arms must have been literally dropping off by the time they got to the trail head. So respect to him because I didn't hear him complain in Rory's video, even if he did keep letting the rope go slack (a bit of passive aggressive there).
I love the Maze!!! The first time went back there we were way in over our heads. Both leaf springs bust up through the bed, cracked the rear differential, bent the drive shaft, and broke the frame. Then drove it all the way back to Indiana like that. Ahhh to be young and dumb again.
This video and Rory’s video make a great collaboration! Individually they make a good watch. More video perspectives are a blessing on these recoveries. I was hoping to see the “jump” when you talked about it on Rory’s video. Montage slow motion required. Edit: almost thought you left out the part where the camera wolf howl’s at the squirrel.
It would be potentially more accurate to call this the SECOND longest recovery. The Golden Nugget recovery blows this out of the water. But great job as always!
Another episode of folks being real smart and competent, and then you show us how to navigate off-road and avoid mistakes. Good stuff and much appreciated.

I swear I wrote that last comment before Matt talked about how great it was having Rory there, Matt is such a humble guy, mad-props to you Matt, you guys should've had the owner buy a new starter, and you could've fixed it on the spot, then drove it out of there with AC, and power-steering-n-brakes.
Yikes, that was a long day! What's a recovery quote for a job like that? Your videos always make me think about having to be recovered in some of the way out places I've gone. The desert is a rough place to break down. Awesome job as always 💯🌞👍
That's what I love about living in Utah, all of the places to get lost, from one end of the state to the other. I can drive from the Idaho border to St. George in about 5 hours, but you guys also drove 200 miles and it took you 6 hours!
I was thinking $100 per hour per person. 24x4x100= $9,600. Plus equipment costs. Easily $13,000 +. UA-cam can help with income but that is an expensive recovery.
This Team-up performed an awesome job! I can't help but to wonder though … what is the drivetrain setup Rory has in Trail mater? That effortless pull at 17:33 was quite astonishing with no engine rev's using a clutch! I'm sure it has a big block producing oodles of torque, but what is the gearing??
Trail Mater has lots of gearing combinations. It has a 454 power with a dual transfer case doubler system. Rory can run front wheel drive with lockers, rear wheel drive with lockers or 4 wheel drive with lockers.
Ok Rory I was wrong on the doubler. I was listening to other people's comments about you you were able to run all of the different combinations pulling up and around corners with loads on.
@@trailmater that is purely _awesome_ if that is a stock big block. I knew they were torquey, but I had no idea they were *_THAT_* stout! Awesome rig! You ever thought about running it on a dyno?
Wow, that was some marathon recovery. People like you guys & us in Australia can sure understand & appreciate just how long it can take to get around to some places. Great team effort as always. Rory is such a top bloke. Just gets in & gets things done.
We (and I mean I) need a video with the costs of those recovery! Always wondering what’s the bill like to do something like this, or even pulling a razor from around the corner.
Love your videos. 🙂 Sounds like the starter just shorted itself out. If you run into that issue again (starter staying engaged), it'll be a lot easier to just bring a starter and throw it in. Save yourself a lot of towing time. 🙂
reminds me offroading Namibia. 2 days out in the outback. Singlehand with my two kids driving Skeleton Coast. Sand, desert, rock gardens and dry riverbeds, elephants, rhinos, desert lions, leopards, ostriches..and vultures. Looks like your neck of the woods has been emptied by hunting.

I grew up down in Hurricane, and I know what you mean!
@@ruks345 im in Va beach area so its all flatland and tourist traps. No night life for it being a big city. Its boring here
I grew up in Cedar City UT, Page AZ and Cortez CO. Following my work, I have not lived in the four corners states area since 1989. wore out a few Willy's and Chevy 4Wd's out there. Been in Virginia since 1991. I go back out every year for my southern Utah Fix, and between Rory's site, Matt's site, Paul's site and Casey's site..... they help to carry me through until the next year fix back out there in the back of beyond.
So much has changed? Like the dirt and rocks are a different color? Utah is such a gloriously beautiful place. Just curious.
I sure miss trevor.... Life is like a book... it comes in chapters... It was good seeing him involved with Matts recovery.... He had a desire to move forward and he did what was right for him :) I wish you the best of luck Trevor.... May your days be bright and you future rich in every way....
Trevor deserves a raise! He's earned it.
you guys are simply awesome, with a slight amount of crazy thrown in. fun stuff for sure. Well done...beautiful countryside. thanks for taking us with you!
Trevor needs to make a work out video 👍
Whoever is doing the editing now has really upped their game - this was awesome and all the special effects !!! That’s for sharing - can’t wait for next video !!
The gearing is probably awesome in Trail Mater, but Rory has awesome clutch control. Props to him.
Great job guys! The customer will be pleased to get his baby back, from the "back of beyond" I just spent 24 hours bogged to the axles in 'Outback' Australia, so grateful for Peter who got me out. Onya' Pete.
You aussies are hard-core man !

Every state, and every county in every state, needs a Matt’s off road Recovery!🤠
Blakesoffroad recovery in Kentucky!
After 21 hours of driving I did not trust myself to drive a vehicle until after another sleep....
i love the way you treat the distances involved as just around the corner. for us thats one end of the UK to the other. top job.
Too many quotable moments to count. Matt is mostly asleep and Rory gets it done as usual. Thanks for the fun folks. Oh, and Skeeter gets the award for the most amazing armstrong power steering ever.
I agree, this was a great quotable episode.
Hoping Utah 12 is a beautiful a ride as it was back in the day.
pro tip - velcro tie around the handle part of those tool boxes. keeps them together until you need to open them.
Trevor: "The day is getting longer and longer, because that's how time works". I love your humor, Trevor. 😂
Words if wisdom!
Thank bud 💪🏻🦟
Man, Rory's got himself quite the rig there. Me loves the sound of that engine.
I CANNOT WAIT for the big wrecker to be done. Seeing it and trailmater together is gonna break the internet
This is my brothers Jeep. What a story. Thanks for getting it out!
What is the story?
Just for future knowledge in case this was to happen to me on the trail. What was the cause of the no start?
what a tease you are. 😆
Grrrrr.
That community is so lucky to have Matt and Rory.
The only time I've ever been in real trouble wheeling is when I was by myself. Even a much worse problem is much better if you've got backup.
I got stuck in a sand dune, the middle of the night, on my B-day, in Death Valley, by myself. It was over a hundred even at 2:00 am.
The only thing I did right was told my kid where I was going. DUH!
So did I! Amazing we didn't bump into each other out there. 🤣
11:39 The way that Matt told Rory that he came up with spelling his name and saying because he can on the spot is why I watch M.O.R.R, Trail Mater, Fabrats and Laytons channels. hilarious warm hearted hardworking good folks. Thanks for the awesome editing and content!
I agree. I watch all you’ve listed except Robby Layton. They seem way more rehearsed than the rest, and to much 12 year old boy humor for my taste.
@@markgagner1607
I suggest Vice Grip Garage if you don't already watch him. And if you do, well I'll be dipped.
Whoever edits these videos needs a raise, good stuff.
I love the Maze!!! The first time went back there we were way in over our heads. Both leaf springs bust up through the bed, cracked the rear differential, bent the drive shaft, and broke the frame. Then drove it all the way back to Indiana like that. Ahhh to be young and dumb again.
Driving across- country in something that sounds like a death trap
This video and Rory’s video make a great collaboration! Individually they make a good watch. More video perspectives are a blessing on these recoveries. I was hoping to see the “jump” when you talked about it on Rory’s video. Montage slow motion required.
Edit: almost thought you left out the part where the camera wolf howl’s at the squirrel.

It would be potentially more accurate to call this the SECOND longest recovery. The Golden Nugget recovery blows this out of the water. But great job as always!
I think Matt would ever lie to me or the fans and subscribers my sentiments exactly the Golden nugget was the longest recovery he's ever done ♥️🍻🍻
@@jeffprice3464 the Golden nugget is a saga or a series but we're not talking about that we're talking about the recovery aspect of it
Don't be so worried that no one will come to get you Matt. You and I both know Paul would come get you out. Glad you guys made it in and out safely.
You have to be hardcore to go for 24+ hours on a recovery. Good job, guys.
Thats loving your job!
Enjoyed seeing Rory's and your video on this recovery. Maybe you will have a nice quite weekend and get to enjoy some wheeling with your friends.
Marathon recovery guys. Well done. Thanks for bringing us along.
Watching this from Ohio it amazes me how much open lands out west…both the guy that broke down and the MORR crew had a hell of a adventure.
Another episode of folks being real smart and competent, and then you show us how to navigate off-road and avoid mistakes. Good stuff and much appreciated.
The Tapatío Hot Sauce company was started in 1971 by Jose-Luis Saavedra, Sr., in a 750-square-foot warehouse in Maywood, California. Down the street from where I live Now.
Like your stuff MUCHO !!!
Oh and good save at the End .. we like seeing you fall but not getting hurt. Be safe y’all and thanks for the ride😎
I know Matt doesnt like sharing price figures, but If this is really a 24 hour recovery, I wonder how expensive it was
I wonder if insurance even will pay?
I think he probably makes enough money on these videos he's probably cutting them a break.
A minimum of $350 I think.
$1 a hour ... $24 Bucks and $40K UA-cam money ;-)
@@HDvids101 ad rev wouldn’t pay 40k for a videoIIRC, it’s 3k per 1 mil views. There are multiple vehicles, multiple people involved in this.
This was another fantastic video. I can imagine how exhausted you all were when you finally got back home. Great job!
No they drove 90 offroad miles and it took them 9.5 hours.
Can't imagine what a recovery like that must cost!!!
I was thinking the same thing, probably close to $500 just in fuel.
I was thinking $100 per hour per person. 24x4x100= $9,600. Plus equipment costs. Easily $13,000 +. UA-cam can help with income but that is an expensive recovery.
I'd hire a mechanic for 2 days and rent a jeep to take him to the broken down jeep.

Melted wire/computer/starter...
I was wondering why the customer wouldn't call Rory in the first place he's alot closer? 🤷♂️
How many tow companies would say "Yes" to this recovery? --- Nicely done, gentleman. ---
How many tow companies would have to get rescued if they did say yes?
just an awesome relentless effort on this recovery!! love it!
I'm glad Skeeter wasn't lolly gagging. I hate to be accused of lolly gagging when I am obviously dilly dallying.😊
I DO NOT run a doubler. That is a stock 4 speed with a stock 205 transfer case with 4:10 gears. And of course a big block...
Ok Rory I was wrong on the doubler. I was listening to other people's comments about you you were able to run all of the different combinations pulling up and around corners with loads on.
@@delbutler885 I can do the front digs with 1 transfer case. Modified the shift rails in the factory 205 for that reason.
@@trailmater that is purely _awesome_ if that is a stock big block. I knew they were torquey, but I had no idea they were *_THAT_* stout! Awesome rig! You ever thought about running it on a dyno?
Kudos to Trevor’s great camera shots & whoever edits does a heck of a job. Really fun one 😁
Good MORRning everyone!
"Holy Toledo" - No, Hanksville LOL That one got me
Wow, that was some marathon recovery. People like you guys & us in Australia can sure understand & appreciate just how long it can take to get around to some places. Great team effort as always. Rory is such a top bloke. Just gets in & gets things done.
Absolutely outstanding! What a great recovery. That was soooo far. You guys rock. So glad Rory came to help. Safety in numbers!
We (and I mean I) need a video with the costs of those recovery! Always wondering what’s the bill like to do something like this, or even pulling a razor from around the corner.
Rory’s rig looks like it was taken out off the mad max movies.
Good lord a 9 hour rescue. Bless your heart.
"I guess I'll quit being lazy and lock my hubs in" OMG dude, that Trail Mater of yours is one awesome machine Rory
I don’t know what you”re planning for the “Tow truck Olympics “ but I think you might need a cape as the top award !
Skeeter was a great addition to the team. I still miss Randy's constant laughter, but the team seems dialed in.
Man this was crazy for a far away job glad you got there safe and back ..
Love your videos. 🙂 Sounds like the starter just shorted itself out. If you run into that issue again (starter staying engaged), it'll be a lot easier to just bring a starter and throw it in. Save yourself a lot of towing time. 🙂
Melted wiring, melted computer, fritzed starter....
reminds me offroading Namibia.
An awesome recovery! Even though it wasn't technically difficult, it was way way out there and your video sure shows that.
Well , I gave up 2 addictions decades ago ( alcohol and promiscuity ) now I'm addicted to Casey's , Heavy D's , Matt's , Paul's , Rory's , and more " OFF ROAD RECOVERY VIDEOS " , you guys are all my newer addiction ! AND no hangover AND no S.T.D.'s
This must have cost the owner of that Jeep and arm and a leg. Some Tapatío Sauce on that arm and leg please.
When Jamie said "Holy Toledo," and then Matt said "No Hanksville," I expected her to tell him shut up.
An employee asks MORR during an interview, "What is unique and great about working for MORR"?... Matt: "We swim in our pants". Love your videos!
