I've never worked on any part of a car and just replaced my stock stage 1 intake yesterday. It was surprisingly easy so if you're like me and aren't very literate when it comes to engines and stuff it's a great way to sort of get in there and gain some confidence.
Dude I got a job as a claims adjuster without knowing much about cars and these videos have caught me up to speed fast. If anyone needs to learn anything about cars. This channel is definitely where they need to be.

As a sales rep at a garage I chuckle and wince at the thought of the kinds questions people ask Fixed hotline about a check light. My patience goes out to you guys and autoparts stores. Last thing anyone needs in retail automotive is some yee yee trying to do it their self with no understanding but pay and plug.
Airflow is important to a combustion engine, so why wouldn't it add more power if all the relevant variables coalesce and produce a beneficial and tangible result? I'm sure people have ran tests (dyno & driving experience) to see, hear and feel the differences in their vehicle. I recently changed my air filter to a K&N stock replacement filter, and there is definitely an improvement to throttle response and power, but it's a small gain. It was worth the money I paid, though.
Thank you! cold air intakes make a difference, but you need a tune to get that performance. Thanks for telling people too many people think you just stick it on and go. You can but won't get the performance.

Ok, so I have a 1996 Audi A4 Quattro, with the 2.8L 12V V6(AFC engine code if that helps). I know, go with the 1.8T, never lose. However, when I got the car, it had a 2.5" "hot air intake", no block off paneling whatsoever, so the engine was sucking in all that hot air from right over the exhaust manifold. I fabricated a block off panel, swapped out the 2.5" piping for a 3" one instead, it fits snugly and matches the MAF housing better. The blockoff panel I made also uses a trunk seal from my parts car around either side and the top to better separate the intake from the rest of the compartment(like you mentioned in the video). Now, the exhaust that came with the car was probably one of the worst straight pipes I've ever seen. They basically 45d the passenger bank slam into the driver side bank, almost making it a T junction. They then flex piped the end of that(with no cats, or downstream O2s in the system whatsoever) into the stock A4 muffler🤦. I removed all the ghettofied boosheet they left for me.. The whole system from the bottom of the 2" downpipes back is now 2.5". I ran a pair of high flow Amazon cats with downstream O2s, then into an X-pipe, then into a 2-in-2-out Cherry Bomb Extreme "muffler", then out the back through a pair of downturn tips I made from pie cuts as well. Basically I turned what would ordinarily be a 2into1 system, into a dual crossover, dual exhaust. I'm wondering if I'm going to lose some power, making the whole system more free flowing? That stupid straight pipe was awful, I have some pics and it's featured in one of my videos on my yt channel. I'm hopeful to at least be slightly above stock numbers of 174hp. I'm hopeful to be at worst, back to stock numbers, given the 💩 that was there before was really terrible. My work may not be the greatest, I'm legit a hobbyist working on my own vehicle, not a professional welder/fabricator. I apologize for the long read, and I appreciate any and all input. Thanks in advance😁
Some backpressure helps with scavenging, effective scavenging allows the cylinders to clear exhaust gasses out better, well designed intake and exhaust are tuned like a musical instrument
Yeah, for a naturally aspirated (NA) engine this is true, but for a turbo charged application, no scavenging is needed after the turbo, and only a small amount before the turbo.
