The real life Cleveland Brown.
😂
LOLOLOL 100%
Damn, that comment nailed it
😂😂😂😂😂
I was thinking the same thing. 😅 Excellent video good sir!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks he sounds like Cleveland brown
great video! gonna consider a ioniq! btw anyone tell you that you sound like Cleveland from family guy? lol
Thanks! Lol you are the 3rd person now to say so.
You are 100% correct lolol.
Nice review. It's good to see a POV one year later because I'm looking forward to getting a 2020 PHEV and they have similar drivetrains.
Thank you! I have really enjoyed the car especially the amazing fuel economy. If you haven't already please consider subscribing. Also check out my Nee Years Cash Giveaway video. I'm giving away money all weekend.
This is an excellent real world test, thank you. I've just bought a late 22 Ioniq this week, and am really pleased with it, so it's good to know what sort of long-term service it is likely to give.
Excellent, much appreciate your review!
I have no intention of buying another compact car, I watched this just out of curiosity. But I think you did a great job! It's a neat car.
Thanks! It's been a good car to me so far!
Thanks for the honest and great review.. I’m looking to purchase the plug-in hybrid version in the next year or so and really appreciate the feedback. 👍🏻
You're welcome! I think you will enjoy the car. I have 26,000 miles now. What color are you going to get?
I’m thinking white? Cooler in the summer. After 26,000 miles any issues?
No issues yet.
That’s great to hear thanks again for the feedback, much appreciated..
You're welcome
Balanced and objective - the best traits in a review you want to see. If I can ask, when using the adaptive cruise control, if a vehicle passes you and then goes back into your lane and leaves your "radar cone", does the car "beep" at you to tell you it's going to accelerate? I had a Mitsubishi Outlander that did that and it was so annoying, I didn't use it.
Nice review. I’m seriously considering this car.
Good review!
Im thinking about getting this car during or after college. It looks great and gets great fuel economy, and has enough room for friends or skis/snowboards. I also love how it has the dual clutch transmission rather than those garbage CVTs. I wish Hyundai made this car but with near Tesla power numbers.
I think you will be pleased with it. Adequate acceleration. Great cargo space! And of course the mpg is amazing.
had my ionic now for around a week and i totally agree.. the seats are terrible.. i have the high spec, with heated seats and cooling seats... but you are correct its the firmness.. its terrible. I will add also that at motorway speeds, the tyre noise is also terrible.. having said all that though.. i am extremely happy with my purchase.. Thanks for your review, i will imagine i will be saying similar things after a year also.
Comprehensive video sir, thank you
But what about the cabin/road noise on both wet and dry road commute?
Thanks for the compliment! I havent noticed anything significant with wind noise. All in all it's a pretty well put together car with amazing fuel economy!
I already put 55,000 miles on my 2020 corolla hybrid , this car just flies down the road , it’s a 1.8 like the Prius
That's a lot of miles in a year.
It sounds great, essentially a small car with a hatchback and it is available at a decent price for a Hybrid
Nice video 👍. Subscribed
Thanks! Welcome aboard!
This is a very interesting video
I bought a 2018 base model for my daily work commute and I personally think for what you get and the gas mileage for the price is unbeatable. I have put on 100k miles and haven't had any issues at all since I've bought it. I drive an hour straight on the highway I'm getting 60 miles a gillion going 65-70mph going to grove this into the ground until the wheels fall off.
ANY UPDATE?
Last Prius drove it to 250k miles before the hybrid battery gave out.
Wondering if you can get just as many miles out of the Ioniq Blue hybrid battery?
@@m.c8038Wish I could give my input. I had one as well until it got in wreck. Nearly 170k miles on it.
Thanks for the 1 yr review... I have had mine for 1.5 years and placed 40k miles on it, I have also had no mech problems.. but i do disagree about the comfort, driving 60 miles one way to work and i find the seats quite good except for the headrest, which I wish was rotated back slightly. I do have a different model though, I have the SEL, which has heated seat, so they would be a little different than yours.
+Mark Brown thanks for the comment. Yes perhaps your seats are different than my base model. Do you plan to keep your car awhile? I will probably keep mine until at least 100,000 miles or more.
@@autodreams114 I actually plan on keeping mine until she's in the ground, I'm hoping for 250k at least
+Mark Brown I dont blame you! As long as the reliability remains, might as well enjoy the fuel savings!
I definitely agree with you, it's a pretty amazing car, I have the 2019 Preferred model and I think the seats are amazing but you are right about the headrest (which isn't a rest it's to protect you from whiplash) but I just thought of something, maybe we can purchase an aftermarket one??
ANY UPDATE?

Outstanding Production Value from a SMALL Channel.

Thank you kindly! That was a DJI Mavic Pro Platinum.
ps, Very Nice Sound Effects(Cheers and Clapping) during the "Thumbs Ups".....
Thanks man
I think I just got sold on this vehicle for my new weekly commutes from south tx to San Antonio 👍🏻
Glad I could help 👌
Funny you mentioned the seat comfort of the NSX. I remember when the original one came out & I sat in it and still to this day remember how comfy the seat was.. I guess they kept that up for the new version too. So far I've not found a seat that's topped my 2015 Chrysler 200S for overall comfort.
Finally someone who can relate lol. I had a 200S as well . They weren't bad either. Do you have an Ioniq now or thinking about getting one?
@@autodreams114lol I guess it made an impression on me!
I had a 2015 200S & a 2016 200S. They changed the seating between those years & the 16 was noticeably harder so I ended up getting rid of the 16. The 15 I already gave back as it was a lease. Ah well..
Don't have an Ionic but it's in consideration for a friend. Going to check it out along with Accord, Camry and maybe Niro. She has a '16 Lexus ES350 hybrid right now so we'll see what she ends up with.
Nice to have other people's real world experiences to hear about & be able to consider so thanks for putting the videos out there!
You're more than welcome! Obviously the most amazing thing about the Ioniq to me are it's fuel economy and price.
So, if you raise the heat to 78 degrees it helps to charge battery?
Nice to know, trunk size is bigger than I expected for the size of the car and it is a town/trip car family needs. I wonder if we can somehow change the seat inside foam in the aftermarket.
thanks for the video. I'm considering an Ioniq to replace my 2006 Mercury Marquis. I hate to give my couch-like seats though. It would be good to find an Ioniq with a 100,000 miles report, but I probably won't find that.
Yeah probably not yet. Mine has 30,000 miles on it. No mechanical issues.
@@autodreams114 After posting here, I remembered an acquaintance who had bought an Ioniq and makes regular trips from Mich to Calif to visit grandkids. I just traded email with him and he said he has 55k miles on his with no problems. That's the highest number of miles I can find on an Ioniq. He's wanting to make another trip as a soon as cov19 restrictions allow, I expect.

Do you know if has a hybrid filter?
I got 130 mpg in a volt. But it was more of an extended range electric than a hybrid as it would drive 100% in electric until the battery was depleted. Now I am moving to a full electric ioniq.
Currently driving a Dodge Charger RT that does 15mpg city. Been thinking of getting an ioniq. I agree it looks way better than a prius.
I agree with you there!
58 mpg is fantastic and I've gotten as high as 69 mpg, bona-fide mpg
How's the car now? Any reliability issues or problems?
Hyundais are the best! My last one had close to 70,000mi without any mechanical problems. The only thing I had to do was put on new tires and a new battery. Unbelievable!
what happened to your nxs? I sold my 19 nxs and bought 21 sti but now im looking into ioniq or Elantra hybrid
We went from a 2005 Prius to a 2022 ioniq blue. Seats feel great lol. But the Prius seats were definitely tired with 210k on the odometer.
How do you like the car still? Really what pushed us to buying was two factors. Finding a dealer right now that wasn't charging over msrp was damn near impossible. Getting the car for $1500 under was like a dream come true lol. We also needed a reliable vehicle as my wife's commute moved from 3 mines to 45. The Prius was no longer a reliable car without dropping a few thousand dollars to get it there, so we opted to sell it and buying something new.
Not sure I expect it to last 17 years, but if we get 100-150k miles out of it, which shouldn't take much more than 6-7 years at the mikes my wife is driving, I think I'll be pretty happy.
How'd you manage to get a discontinued car?
Also, the warranty of the Ioniq is 3x better than the Prius. Plus a lifetime hybrid battery warranty! Also, the only car to do a jump start by itself, amazing.
I think I’m sold now.
What you mean jUMP START BY ITSELF?
ANY UPDATE?
Last Prius drove it to 250k miles before the hybrid battery gave out.
Wondering if you can get just as many miles out of the Ioniq Blue hybrid battery?
I'm posting this in September of 2022. How do you like your ionic now because I might want to buy one and I want to know what the long term reputation of this car is
I actually had a 2017 Prius then a 2019 Ioniq SEL it does have great features but the ride quality isn't good the road noise is also very noticeable coming from a prius I had the car for about 1 year 6 months and could never manage the EPA numbers best i could do is 51 mpg overall I live in Los Angeles CA and 14k miles on the car its a great car for those who are budget conscious but the Prius is better as far as quality goes and the prius gets better gas mileage from my experience.....great review BTW 👏
Prius reviews .....seats are worse. Buy a full seat cushion ? ❤️
is 20k miles in a year considered to be a lot of driving or low?
where's the air filter located in the ioniq? how often have you been to clean it out in the past year?
20k a year in a big city like Houston is average. It's located behind the glove box. I just changed it out today. Takes all of 3 minutes. I did a video on it last year.
@@autodreams114 cool. thanks
Cabin air filter is behind the glove box, remove the glove box, which is simple to do. For the engine air filter there's a large square piece of plastic with four rocker clips, remove that and the air filter is sitting right there on top.
@@57Carlibra thanks for the tip!
The materials used in the, Ioniq's interior, are better for us too.
Good point! I'm enjoying the car. 26,000 miles on it now.
Your voice sounds exactly like "The Lady's Man" character that Tim Meadows used to do on SNL. LMAO.
Consumer Reports dinged the 2020 Ioniq for poor braking. How do you feel about braking distance/responsiveness and pedal feel?
All in all works and feels normal. But every now and then when braking at low speeds ( like stopping at a stop sign) the braking will be real jerky. That occurs maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks. I wouldnt let the braking deter you from choosing the Ioniq.
@@autodreams114 I plan to buy a 2020 Ioniq Hybrid Limited in late summer or early fall. I would consider the plug-in hybrid, but they are not available in my state.
Okay what color are you going to get?
@@autodreams114 Intense blue with the dark grey interior. My area just got in the lower trims, but no Limiteds yet. Expected in April.
Nice 👍🏽 I have 26,000 miles on my 2018 now.
Have you seen or noticed any downsides during the winter? Ive heard that mpg decreases compared to the summer time. Does this take a huge effect and make it a deal breaker?
Yes I notice mpg drops to maybe 47 - 50 mpg during the winter. Not a problem for me as. Houston winters are very mild.
Electric heated seats and engine running for heat. I use the seat and steering wheel heaters but keep the climate control on low.
Well, I was about to buy one from an online store when I watched this video. I may have changed my mind because that is some serious road noise! I've seen noise complaints in other videos but thought they were just being picky...until now. This rivals a Jeep for Noise.
Noise primarily comes from the trunk area, what I did was buy some mass loaded vinyl (extra thick vinyl) it really cut down the noise, later did more sound dampening too. Watch UA-cam videos on this topic.
We came from a 05 Prius to a 22 ioniq. I'd say the road noise is about the same, fwiw. I wouldn't say it's a noisy car, but it's definitely not like a luxury vehicle, for sure.
I'd test drive it if you're at all interested. When we bought I really didn't want another hybrid and REALLY didn't want a Hyundai, but we've been overall very impressed. Granted, if you're used to driving something extremely nice, this may feel like a big downgrade. For us, this vehicle has been a leap forward.
Yes the seats are a bit too firm, also the road noise is somewhat annoying, but you can add sound dampening. I've loved my Ioniq Blue, I bought if for doing Uber but Uber is way too greedy! So, I'm about to sell my Ioniq after 61K miles. Great car, IMHO. Btw, Hyundai replaced the transmission, under warranty at 35K
Wow surprised to hear about a transmission issue at that low of miles.
Not a great endorsement. Engine replacement at 35K?!
@@EMVelez-qb1zu it was a minor transmission issue actually but they stood behind their warranty
So, do you still have it? If so, how are things going?
I have 2017 ioniq base model bought since it is 16 miles on odometer. 80k now and it is still going strong. Just like other have mentioned, I will drive this car until the wheels fall off.
Can anyone help me about the gas because my gas was less than half but when i tried to put some gas, it won’t let me and the cashier came and said it means that my gas was full but on monitor its almost low. Can anyone help me bcoz im confused asf. Gracias
It’s happens once also in my 2020 corolla hybrid , only happened once but tank was full and bar was around half way
I’m seriously considering an ioniq but I’m wondering if it will go 300k miles like a prius will.
I guess ls the jury is still out on that since the model is so new. I am at 31,000 miles and no issues so far.
Yeah kind of seems like a gamble. I have a Hyundai accent right now and I hear you on the seats. It looks like the upgraded limited trim has the more comfortable adjustable seats though.
Asking the same here.
Last 2007 Prius went 250k miles and could've gone longer had the hatch not leaked water into the 12V battery in the back. It's all Lithium Ion Batteries in these hybrids, so they're all the same, don't see why the Ioniq wouldn't get you over 250k miles like the Prius.
You can get padded seat covers.
It's actually not horrible. Just not as comfy as most other cars I've driven.
Good review. You sound like one of the guys from family guy
Thanks! I dont know if I should take that as a compliment lol. I definitely have a Cajun accent though.
More like Cloverfield cartoon
@@TonyLeee86 i don't watch either one so I dont know your reference
Cleveland Brown hehe
How hard is it to take seats out?
Back seats need to go so I can try placing a comfy napping situation back there. Too many windows to cover.
Nope no one would say you are crazy, 10-15 years ago prius was getting those numbers.
Its 20k miles, even least reliable vehicles will do 20k miles with zero problems.
My 300k miles review of my prius is 👍
only thing replaced was a inverter water pump.
This car sounds like a lot of road noise?
Road noise is not too bad.
How’s the cabin noise?
No issues with cabin noise. It's really a good car!
@@autodreams114 Great! Thanks for the response.

@@autodreams114 yes please

It's not horrible but on trips longer than 30 minutes it's noticeable to me.
@@autodreams114 I'm an Uber/Lyft Driver who does long trips to the airport almost every day! They are usually an hour to two hour drive.
I usually stay in my car for about 4 hours at a time so yeah, if you're noticing it after 30 minutes of driving especially where we have horrible roads here in California, it would be horrible for me!

OK, now 2 years in...update us.
Sure thing! Stay tuned.
Sport mode is just more noiser, no difference in performance. Seats are uncomfortable. But for the price I do agree on value.
Ok the seat criticism crosses it off my list. I'll have to keep my gas guzzling Camaro after all, which has awesome seats.
You should test drive one. It's really a good car!
I wish I could buy one. None available to buy.
There is used available
How are you not able to buy one? Want to buy my Ioniq?
I don't like the plastic back bumper.
That’s against the law
You could have got a used Chevy Volt.
Not sure if this is the right place for this. So if it is not PLEASE direct me to correct spot. I currently have a 2012 Toyota Prius C. I had it since new. I have 136,000 mi on her. Mechanically she is great. But slowly non mechanical are going. The Prius C was not much cheaper then the Prius by the time you put options on. I went with the Prius C because it didn't have that goofy 2 tear rear deck. I also dislike the Prius joystick shifter, floating counsel, and general interior. The Prius C was more traditional car.
The Hyundai Ioniq seems to be more traditional car on the interior. The Hyundai has the gages to the front instead of the side. On paper the Hyundai gets better mpg then Prius. However in real world I bet they are the same. The Hyundai has a rare for hybrids dual clutch automatic transmission not a CVT. The Prius and Ioniq seem to cost about the same and have similar deals. The Hyundai has a better warranty.
What are your thoughts on what car to get? Ioniq or Prius? Thanks.
Also is Ioniq HEV Blue the highest non plug in MPG vehicle currently on sale in the USA?
www.edmunds.com/car-comparisons/?veh1=401849780&veh2=401887674&veh3=101425345&fbclid=IwAR04RtrwUeoNLiTOJG2sZwAy6Hy-UG4b7wLZk4oggKrIHEbfjImYgqOTfB0
As you said it’s a different type of hybrid. We had a Prius before. The Ionic will do EV at 110kph, regenerates well and more, but can be a bit clunky as the engine cuts in and out.
