I am blown away about some of the comments here. People are insanely rude. I'm a new follower and loved it. I'm tired of boring, lifeless, 'to the point' videos where the content actually stinks. You were funny and knowledgeable. How can anyone say anything negative to that? 😱
A lot of rude know it all men who think it’s their god given right to tell a woman how to do a “mans job.”
I agree, Christina. She did everything but actually paint your cabinets for you.
Good video I like her personality and knowledge
Welcome to the internet!
Agreed. Notably the one aptly named Karen😂!
One thing I like about your video is that you make it simple. I’ve watched a few cabinet painting videos and they are like 500 steps sanding doors, take doors off, spray guns, pour fillers, more sanding, taping, coat after coat, on and on. I’m thinking after all that work it would be better to just go buy new cabinets. But you made it pretty simple so thanks!
After I watched you video, the next day I went to buy the paint and today I started my paint journey. Thank you 😊
How did it go?
It turned out great!! And love my new cabinet.
Rrrr
Yesss!!! Finally a video with dancing and painting : ) Just kidding I appreciate the fact that you painted the cabinets without removing them. I'm all for painting but the entire process of removing, painting , and reinstalling is just to much work for me. My life is to busy for all that, so thank you for sharing this amazing hack!
You had me at dance party!
I'm subbing, anybody brave enough to do that show's me you are divested of all ego entanglement. You are an emotionally healthy person.
Just want to say thank. I painted my cabinets and didn’t take any doors off ;thx to your vid.) it took me 3 days, and it’s PERFECT. Kinda mad I waited so long.
Finally someone who is doing it without the hassle no need work to take down the cabinet. I was saying to myself" they need to be another way" now u very proven me right. Will try this on cabinet
Thank you my love! My husband and I built a house two years ago here in southern Illinois. Nothing but cornfields. When we got our kitchen cabinets, I didn’t want to paint them at that time, because we’ve been building for 3 years and I painted the entire two story house, and well, we were tired. I wanted to wait and now is the time. I’m doing a light gray for the main cabinets and I am painting my island a calming blue. I am excited! Thank you for all these tips. We have the same cabinetry. So beautiful. Great video!!
I love that u didn't take the doors off!! thank u🥰I just bought a house I needed this!
Just a couple suggestions. Use naphtha to clean off any grease/oils, useing a (red) scotch brite pad and paper towel. Then sand with 320 sandpaper. If you're going over existing paint/finish use BIN PRIMER (shellac primer) let dry for about a day then sand/vaccum before painting.
Now you can use paint, and it can look great. However even paint that claims its durable isnt going to hold up in the long run. Cabinets are high use/touch spots. Chips and scratches will start showing up sooner or later.
Not to mention if you dont do a good job cleaning and sand/vacuum between coats you risk and uneven and dirty finish risking the paint failing.
The alternative to paint is not the most diy friendly but its infinitely better than paint. The alternative is tinted conversion varnish, you can get it at places like Sherman Williams and in any color you want.
Now this method requires a little investment, as although it's not "meant" to be brushed its can be brushed on panels and face frames Using a mini roller and 2in brush on the panels (ROLL FIRST THEN USE THE BRUSH TO REMOVE THE TEXTURE FROM THE PANEL) Then use the 2in brush to paint the face frames. It has an incredibly short working time (less than 5 min once applied). This might make it a little harder to apply but so much easier to work around imo.
For the doors I would definitely remove them and spray them with the conversion varnish.
Now okay I know this is a lot. Probably more than you feel comfortable with, I wont lie and say its super easy but having seen the results of both systems I encourage people to put in the extra time/investment/research and go with conversion varnish. This way your kitchen will look incredible until well after the color you chose has gone out of fashion.
Source; its what I do for a living.
I appreciate you adding to the convo.
I appreciate this comment as I am stuck with the 80s mauve red in my whole house.
I've been back and forth on whether or not to take the leap and paint the cabinets. I've read so many Pinterest boards and watched so many videos and they always scared me off. Yours finally convinced me to take the plunge!
Catherine Antos it’s a chore for sure, but makes such a difference!
I've followed her tutorial, used that paint, and that roller cover, with FANTASTIC RESULTS! I have now painted 3 large pieces of furniture with the Benjamin Moore Advance Waterborne Alkyd Paint, 2-3 coats on each piece and I STILL have 1/3 of a gallon left! This is the BEST PAINT.
I have also painted another dresser with it, colored "Raspberry Sorbet" with beautiful results. (it did take 3 coats) I have recommended This paint to everyone wanting to paint furniture or cabinets. We will be using it on our Kitchen and bathroom Cabinets very soon. THANK YOU SO MUCH For sharing your time and knowledge!
My sad little kitchenette needs some cheering up. Wish my budget covered more than paint but this house is mine and paid for! Thanks for your instruction and especially what paint to use. You do a thorough job without turning your home into a three ring circus.
This was a HUGE help to me. Picked up new dance moves and painted my cupboards with all your tips. I just finished my cupboards. I love them so much.
That paint is KEY!! We did our kitchen in that exact paint and it came out flawless. Not only that but after 3 years, they still look like they were done yesterday. They wipe off and they don’t chip. It’s expensive but well worth it.
@Tonya Vanderbilt Meer
Did you paint cabinets in your kitchen? I was wondering if you chose a satin finish and if you sealed them. Thanks for your help 😊
Tonya Westmoreland yes we painted our entire kitchen...wish I could attach pictures here to show you. We used satin finish in our kitchen and master bath. Turned out perfect! We did not seal them.

I am painting my cabinets right now! When I am done you should come over and dance with me! Great video! Beautiful work❤️. I am seriously in shock over what people say to someone having a good time! Shameful. Keep doing what you do😘
Hi Amy, are you using the same paint. I will hvae to have mine delivered, and I don't want to wait. ughhh!
Stumbled upon your channel in my first attempt at painting my cupboard doors and everyone wants to take the doors off……you’ve made what what going to be a huge task to tackle a little easier and less daunting …….love the little dance at the beginning …. I’m going to give that a go to hype myself up 😂
Nice tips. I removed my doors and drawers instead of worrying about taping so much and painting over the hardware. Used a bonding primer and used a clear poly semigloss finish for a slight shine, easier to clean and more durable.
I love that paint! I've used it on furniture, a bedroom set I did is still perfect after 10 years. I used a McGuire's polishing kit on it, designed for polishing cars, to bring it up to an almost glossy finish.
Just want to let you know, I used the tips and the paint you suggested in this video for my own (bathroom) cabinets and also for the hallway doors, and they turned out AWESOME!! Thank you for the great suggestions and for this video!!
Tess M So glad to hear that!
Preparation is 🔑 n love the fact, that ur breaking it down in full details to help anyone who's interested!#helpingothers
I subscribed when I saw her dancing. I certainly love her energy 💕
Was looking all over for a video that showed how cabinets can be painted without removing the doors. THANK YOU!!
ABSOLUTE PLUS!!!!
what an amazing job! LOVE the new color as it gives it a modern look and excellent job painting without removing the doors
Thank you! My sister in law loved how it changed her kitchen!
Looks great and like that you saved so much labour keeping the doors on. I have honey oak cabinets and want to change a modern look
Do it right and take the doors OFF!!
I LOVE Green Frog tape!! I buy the 1.8 in width. I have taped every trim around windows, doors front and back, base trim near floors. That's a lot of tape, but well worth it. I'm finally down to last trim in kitchen. House is 2300 sf. I first painted ALL walls inside then worked on trim. Fortunately we were removing carpet upstairs and had wood floors downstairs which I removed all 1/4 round and replaced with new. New vinyl plank flooring upstairs in 2 baths and laundry and new base trim and 1/4 rounds in those rooms. I'll be repainting cabinets in those rooms and replacing countertops, all this I'm doing as a stay at home mom, so ladies, know that it can be done. I've saved thousands of $$ in labor costs. Started in october, most done by Feb. Took a break, now finishing up. Take your time with the frog tape and you will get great results. I really like Benjamin Moore paint, and can't wait to try the new alkoid for cabinets.
Karen H Great job! Paint makes such a huge difference! I love Frog Tape too!
I love this video! Thinking of painting my own kitchen cabinets to save money. My kitchen is small and doesn’t have a lot of cabinets. I like that you left them on, it seems time consuming to take all the cabinets down and put them back up. I will try this method.
Thank you for this video. It made me feel so comfortable and confident doing my cabinets on my own. thank you!
We are in the middle of painting wood cabinets, we decided to clean, sand, primer, paint. One tip for primer make sure you get enough or do a second coat if needed, its much easier to work with versus the paint. We are also using the Benjamin Moore Advanced primer and satin paint as you did. It's working well so far, about 3-4 days left of doing ours. We are going from a medium darkness wood to white so the primer is very important.
we are doing the same, are you using a spray painter or all by hand? We have ALOT of cabinets so I am thinking of purchasing a sprayer
I absolutely love the idea of painting the cabinets without removing the panels.
I needed this . I don’t want to take off my cabinets
came for the painting. stayed for the dance party :)
You're welcome!
Lol, same!
Aka Patience g
This was the best Video about Painting Kitchen cabinets, I am just about to paint but thought I should watch another video weather if I should take doors off or not. Thank you for the information
I painted my kitchen cabinets and love how they turned out! Thanks for the tutorial!
Did you follow her steps exactly? No sanding?
@@melodycooper8151 no I didn’t sand. I used a paint plus primer. It’s been a couple years since I painted them and I’m still happy with how they turned out.
I haven't even watched the entire video, but that dance sold me. I love it!
Lucky you for being in mid-life , I'm at end-of-life and just happen to have this same project upcoming. Thanks for the tips !
I absolutely LOVED your dance intro!!!! You go girl! 👏😊
You’re just showing your personality and I LOVE IT ♥️ I’m also loving your DIY’S. Keep being you because people like me will absolutely subscribe.
So encouraging. I feel like I can do it!! Maybe...
Same. Definitely. Maybe.
😆 right in that maybe part
A few men can fathom how you can do something without pulling out a drill ,screw driver and a sander 🤣🤣🤣🤣thank you for this video I been wanting to paint my cabinets but was scared off because for the men saying remove cabinets blah blah blah thanks lady you rock ! Will send you pics when I get it done so exited!!
Why make it harder than it has to be
Love how u didn’t remove the doors.
This is great information. CLosing on a house that has lawn green cabinets and I want the Riverway color. Excited to do this as soon as I close!
Beautiful!! I love the color you've chosen! I've been wanting to do my kitchen cabinets for so long. Thanks so much for your encouragement. I think I can do your methods. I hated to take them down, but you showed me how to easily NOT take them down to paint and get excellent results. Thanks so much!! I'm going to do this!
I never thought of leaving the doors on! Thanks for that tio
If i can get away with leaving them on, I do! Less work!
Best Video I Have watched For painting Cabinets (& believe me, I have watched A LOT) I am finally confident enough to Tackle the Project 😊
Wish me luck, this is my 1st semi big project DIY.
Thanks so much for videos, you are a God send, Doll💜
I feel more comfortable about painting my kitchen cabinets. Thank you.
Me too, and will definitely start today.
Please let us know how it went? Would you do anything different? What worked and what didn’t ? I want to do this myself but super scared 😳. Thank you 😊
@@Kindlyone777 Hi Grace! I actually started it, but it seemed still too much work and I did feel overwhelmed so I decided to hired a contractor. He did a great job. It’s beautiful 😍 Thank you fir asking!
@@Trueloveneverends oh I’m they turned out beautiful! I’m not even going to try. Lol.
The dance party was everything!!!!!
Love it!! Cabinets came out great. Thanks for sharing ❤
Our cabinets are the same color as these before, and I hate them. They were brand new when we moved into our house 4 years ago and I can't see getting rid of them but I've been planning to paint them someday so they will be more my style. I just gotta convince the husband! This is the best tutorial I've seen on painting cabinets and DH is almost convinced after watching it. 😉
Your dance party = my happy dance corner lol. Also I LOVE that color. I painted my bathroom cabinets and completely botched the job. I think I’ll give some of these hacks a try. Great info!
thank you for this video. i wanted to redo my cabinets cause they are way to dark for my liking and it makes my kitchen feel so small. should be fun with my 2 young kids around lol
This is the first vid from you I `ve watched and I actually got what I came here for! Learned a lot about cabinet painting AND some new dance moves!
Then I read some of the comments! What is wrong with people? One has no time for dancing? That comment was posted a few days ago.....all we have now is TIME!!!
Hey Midlife Girl - if I were you ...I would make a whole new video just dancing - say...about 15 minutes long with the title :" How to paint counter tops !" Hehehe ;))
Flusenmonster ✌︎︎✌︎︎✌︎︎
🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I liked you already when you started dancing 😂
Me too!! More people should do that!! 😊❤
Thanks for sharing!!! I absolutely LOVE your dance intro! You’re my kind of person!😊😆 I am in the process of painting our kitchen so will definitely use your method when painting the cabinets! Loved the after look but the wood was soo pretty. 😢Anyways, Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic tutorial. Very clear and easy to understand. Thank you!
You’re hilarious, love your dance party!
I've been wanting to paint my tiny kitchen's cabinets for many years now but have always been put off by the amount of work involved, including the notion that you absolutely must take off the doors to do a proper job, which now I know is not necessary after seeing this video. I love how accessible you've made this task! I can't wait to tackle this in my own home. Great job, thank you.
Came here for the tips, stayed for the dance party LOL.
Love this video. Your kitchen looks just like mine. I was planning on paying someone to paint my cabinets but now I might just do it myself and save a few thousand dollars. Thank you !
Tbh I loved the color of the cabinets before. The blue color is very pretty too though. Loved your dancing!
Thank you for the awesome tips. I had never heard of velour rollers, but will definitely try them on my bathroom cabinet project.
This Advanced paint by Benjamin Moore is the key. It self levels and that means it doesn't show brush marks. I have nowhere to lay down cabinets or even hang them. I hate poly. Used it in Montana to go over oak cabinets and it dripped so much if I did not take off the doors and lay them down I had to sand and sand the drips out. Hey, Girl dance in the kitchen! We need to have some fun! I am painting the brown floors too with Home floor paint. That is a couple of videos too!
how did the floors turn out? I'm experimenting with rustoleum floor coating (a short hall and small bath) but want some kind of visual texture for the very large kitchen/dining area...maybe something like a rag roller of 2 similar colors over the base...otherwise every drip and crumb will show!
You did a fabulous job!! This is the best cabinet painting video I have seen!!! Love the dance party as well!!!
Came here for the cabinets. Stayed for the dancing. Lol
lol same
Wow. Beautiful job Sarah. FYI. Keep dancing 💃
Thanks for sharing. I loved the wood before.... but to each their own 😉
You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by!
Great tips! I wanted to paint my cabinets but was intimidated. My bathroom cabinets are kinda rough but I but the BM Advance really does cover well(3 coats where I gouged the wood with my sander) and doesn’t show roller marks. I sanded, primed and painted. Big improvement!
I am so impressed with how you respond to crappy negative comments. You have such a kind heart ❤I wouldn't be able to be so kind lol 😹
I just bought unfinished cabinets. After watching your video, I am more confident about painting them now
Love the original color
It's awesome that we live in a world where everyone gets to make their homes appeal to their own style. Thanks for participating!
Thank you, I'm in the UK and your video is still relevant. Be happy
This is excellent. Thank you for taking the time to make this. I'm totally buying this paint brand tomorrow!
Hooray! Such great paint! Thanks for taking time to watch!
@@ACottageGirl I followed your tips exactly and my cabinets are gorgeous! Thank you again!
Mary Pinheiro Oh I’m SO happy to hear it! ❤️❤️❤️
Ace hardware has the velour mini rollers or around $6 YAY I love this video!!!
Love the dance intro 😄
Thanks for the video and tips 👍
Just found this and am painting my RV cabinets. Thank you for saying you don’t have to take off the doors to paint!! I do need to paint the hinges and taped off and will spray paint black. Replacing the handles.
I subbed! Thank you for taking the time to create this video and explain everything in detail. And also thank you for just being YOU in your videos, that part is also so important and I subbed instantly.
Thank you so much for all your advice and ideas. I've been thinking about doing my kitchen cabinets for a long time now, but after watching you I'm ready to go for it. I have subscribed to your channel too now. Have a great weekend
I suggest sanding between each coat. That will help with brush marks and stippling (it won't eliminate them, but it will help).
Thanks. I was wondering about that. I suppose 220 or finer.
Great job. I need courage to do mine. Actually, I love to paint! Thank you for this tutorial.
lol you had me at dance party!! love it
Wow great love the dancing lol keep up the great work
Instantly like once the dance party started!!! Love it!,
Same
thanks for your tips and experiences with painting cabinets, not for the fainthearted.... and love those dance moves girl! Did not expect to be entertained too! LOL
I subbed because of the dance party and the fact that you didn’t remove the doors.
Thank you! Just got a house and want to start with small things and learn. Appreciate you!
You're adorable and so much fun to listen to. Thanks for the great video.
So glad you enjoyed!
Nice! I love the way your kitchen came out. Also, I like the way took you time ri explain everything and the demonstrations. Gave me hope I can paint my kitchen cabinets.
Loved the dance, you Go Gurl!!! God blessings.
Wow -- excellent tutorial. You are a very good teacher. So glad I watched this before starting our project. Many thanks!
The dance got me lmbo 😂😂😂
That is an absolutely beautiful completed project. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and tips.
Thank you so much ! One question - with that paint I don’t need a top coat ? Wow you make me feel like I can do this ! Thanks again
Your kitchen cabinets look stunning! Thanks for the awesome DIY hack! 🎨👏
Since kitchens are high traffic area, do you ever seal the paint? Use a polyacrylic or something on top?
Advance paint needs no top coat.
Great video on what to do , and not do. However, I can't believe she didn't sand the wood cabinets before painting, after cleaning them. Lot of good helpful tips!
Your dancing is adorable
I love it! I can't wait to try this in my kitchen! Thank you so much for sharing this!
One of my 😄 “mid-life Sistars” showed me her kitchen cabinets that she did following your post! 😍Beautiful! Sub’d and looking forward to doing old cabinets here. Thank you for the details in how to do this👍🏼
Great tutorial! I am thinking about painting the oak cabinets in my new home as we don't plan to remodel for at least 4-5 years
Spotless white shirt ☑️
Gorgeous kitchen ☑️
Refer to brand new towels from Ikea as "old rags"☑️
I'm fairly certain that kitchen cost more than my whole house!
No hate! Just cracking up that I found this while searching for budget friendly ways to update my ancient kitchen.
