    Very fine video. However, you do not have to remove the small camera to remove the motherboard, unplugging it is enough. It is also held in place by some sticky which was not the case in your video. Also, yes. Use alcohol to remove the pink dried thermal paste and replace it with a small drop of some new before reassembling. As another poster mentioned, it may speed up your phone!

    When the speaker is on, no sound is transmitted to the other party. What's the reason?

    • @PBKreviews

      Might be a bad headphone jack that is thinking something is plugged in when its not, or a bad secondary mic.

    i have a microphone problem on my V20 F800S which to be exact, when i do video calling via whatsapp or normal call with loudspeaker mode on.. the other party only hear a dead silence from me, even if i shouting out loud at the phone.. should i replace the secondary mic which is obviously near the earpiece or the third mic which is soldered at the motherboard?
    please don't be a third mic, i'll be doomed if the third mic broken because i can't back to micro-soldering anymore..

    • @PBKreviews

      I'm not too sure which mic would be having the issue or if the mic is the problem. Have you cleaned out the holes for the mics on the phone first to make sure they are not clogged? Second check the headphone jack, maybe something is wrong with the headphone jack and it thinks a headphone is plugged in when it is not.

    I just replaced my screen and painstakingly moved every small component over to the new assembly. Was that necessary or did I only have to move the headphone jack, ear speaker, and camera?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  8 років тому

      Well everything is there for a reason so you would actually need to move everything over. The gaskets/contacts/covers etc. Gaskets if any would prevent extra light hitting the light sensor to turn screen off n on when its to your cheek, or prevent excess noise coming to mic. Those contact points and everything else would be needed to make whatever they are going for work and receive power. Unless your replacement comes with all those, best bet is to move them over to the new one :)

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  6 років тому +1

      Hi, just follow this video to take it apart, and you can just take off the old thermal pad (circle pink looking thing) and replace it. I don't think these used thermal paste from what I can remember. So you would need a thermal pad instead.

    • @athrunskye

    • @partyman6666
      @partyman6666 5 років тому

      @@athrunskye There is thermal paste on the pink part. Some people replace it with either a .3 or .5 mm thermal pad but most use paste. Thermal paste is better at heat transfer than a pad, but some people like to use the pad in this situation to fill a supposed minor gap between the two surfaces that paste does not generally fill.

    Any body know the function of the two small contacts that are located on the top left (can see @ 4:09 on video)? There is gray tape attached to it that runs through the top on the frame. It has P4 and VZW labeled on it. My new assembly did not have one pre-installed and I teared the old one when moving it.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  6 років тому

      are you referring to the gold contacts? It would probably be the antenna lines for reception/service. The one that says VZW would be the Verizon antenna line. I would believe if your missing that, your reception would be poor or not give you reception at all.

    some of the v20's are having issues with the audio on the loudspeaker /lower speaker.(ie,sounds distorted or blown)
    could you look and see where the amp is located and where connection routings are for that speaker?

    thanks for any help you could give.

      Hi we don't have any v20's at the moment for me to look at but have you tried downloading third party equalizers to mess around with settings see if it might be a software issue they might fix in future?

    • @sambou812
      @sambou812 8 років тому

      yes i had tried aftermarket eq app's but they didn't make the slightest difference.
      i first suspected there were problems with the amp when i noticed static noise coming from the phone you could actually here the amp switch on and off almost sounded like a cold solder joint or bad connection.
      i'm looking for an v20 with a bad esn or broken lcd for testing ,i was hoping someone had already started looking into this problem.

    Whenever I'm in a call and I activate speakerphone my microphone becomes muted. However the microphone picks up my voice when I'm speaking into the phone regularly (ear to the phone) and even when I'm recording audio. I've done plenty of factory resets to know its not a software issue. What part would I need to replace to possibly fix the issue?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 років тому

      There are different mics around the phone which activate for different times. Check and make sure the small holes around the phone are not clogged causing sound not to enter. The speaker mics usually are located on back or top rim of the phone. Should be a small dot/hole.

    Awesome video. Thank you! I subscribed! ;) I hope you know the answer. My v20 has that screen flicker / jitter when watching any video or photo, locally or on UA-cam. Even Google play is doing it now. With older models people have reported exactly the same issue, and people say to remove the back cover, then to loosen the camera and screen ribbon cable from the motherboard (like you did) and reconnect then, to fix. Ever heard of this issue / solution? Cheers! ;)

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 років тому +1

      Hi, this is the first I'm hearing of this myself, but I wouldn't jump to a hardware issue right away. First try restarting the phone in safe mode and see if it still does that. It kind of sounds like a software firmware issue to me. It might also be some apps you have on your phone causing issues. If safe mode doesn't fix it, try backing up your stuff and do a factory reset on the phone and see if that fixes it. If it does then you will know some apps or firmware issue was causing that. If that still doesn't then look into taking it apart and putting it back together. I'm thinking some apps might be causing ram to run low or processor to overheat causing some issues. Let me know what happens.

    now why can't everybody else make phones like this? wish this phone had wireless charging and water resistance though, and i would have been just fine with a plastic peel off back like the old samsungs. kyocera seems the only company that still makes no-nonsense phones designed for function rather than fashion ... unfortunately the specs on those Kyocera phones are from 3 years ago, so you might a well just buy a used Note 4 instead.
