Thank you so very much!! The other videos I watched so far were more about preventing the carpenter ants from entering the house, but no info on how to kill the nest!! I appreciate your taking the time to post this, especially with all the details about which products worked!! I discovered a huge nest by accidentally stepping on it and am now covered in bites! I also live in a cedar shingles house, so I want to get rid of them before more damage is done! Thanks again! God Bless! 👏😇🙏🙌
Man did I get lucky today. The first video I saw on this subject was Chad's Pest Control in Florida. A real pro and he shows you where to find their nest in your yard. The next video I saw was this one. You have no doubt saved me a lot of time and money. I feel very fortunate to have found your post next. Thank you so much for the video. I just discovered carpenter ants in the walls and attic (I was reinsulating the attic and knee-walls). Looking at solutions there is a lot of advise. You are one of the few to personally try each of these out for your problem. Very helpful review.
Thank you. Even if it doesn’t work for everyone. Your thoughtfulness and diligence for going through the various products and giving a detailed description on whether they worked and in what areas and why is more than enough. Thank you for your time and effort and for sharing!
Thanks for the info! It helped a lot bc I have had a ton of success with the 2nd to last product you talked about (Terro).. that will take out a colony with the QUICKNESS.. although the larger carpenter ants seem not to care for it (AS MUCH) as the tiny ants…. So once I used it all of the (smaller sized ant) colonies went away and I was left with the large carpenter ants.. I’ll try your two final suggestions as I can tell you genuinely tried IT ALL & finally had success!
Wow, such an earnest report of your journey to help so many others like me! Please thank your family for me too, since a part of your contribution for sure! I’ve tried a few of these products but plan to get the bait granules you mentioned to see if that helps my PNW colony of carpenter ants. They sure are tough little buggers! Thought I squished one in TP and left in the toilet, soon enough it chewed through the tp and was swimming to get out. Just one example of the strength of wild creatures. A love / hate and respect thing for sure…. Been several weeks of trying, I think my wife and fam think I’m nuts! Still need the ones in my home all dead though so I’ll give it a go. Thanks again DIY friend!
This is a fantastic bit of information, thank you for the detail but also keeping it to the point! We just moved and have noticed carpenter ants in our kitchen and i'm going to use you approach to hopefully eradicate them. It's rained and i'm hoping that it's because of that, that we have the ants coming inside the house now. Again, much thanks and awesome job on the video!
I sure appreciate your work at this. Great explanation. I had good luck with the borax, but not done yet. As you said, killing lots of ants is great, but does not solve the problem. Killing the queen is vital. You tried the boric acid, and it wasn’t great. I live in NW Indiana, and my problem with carpenter ants is they make a mess of my flowers as I cut them to bring them in. The caterpillars do not survive them as they kill them as they protect their aphids. We also get a few in the house, but not much of a problem. This year, I put out little cups from the $ store, like 10 for $1.25. Then, 5 parts sugar, 3 parts boiling water, and 1 part 20 mule team Borax. I mixed like 2 cups total, and added the sugar first, then the boiling water and stirred. When all dissolved, I added the borax and mixed thoroughly. The little cups I drilled small holes on each side, just one per side near the top even with the rectangular shape. Then put in the containers and put the lids on. I spread them around my yard where I did not want them. I spilled a little of the mix that was left after filling the containers and then put the bait trap next to the spill. It has been just a few days since I launched my attack. I need to clean out the traps and resupply them, but there are very few ants around where my bait is. My peonies are nearly clean of ‘em. More work to do, but I hope this works for me and others. I am not done, but have a good start here. GOOD LUCK! This is the best video I used, and I only paid attention to the ant part. There is a part I and II: ua-cam.com/video/ehmCSksMEeU/v-deo.html He gave me the best advice. Not that this site here doesn't do a great help, but I did my work on a budget.
I used your suggestion and purchased the advance protein bait, it’s amazing. You do have to be patient by the first day it went from a three inch ribbon of ants going both ways into a crevice into my house to barely any ants the next day. I did place the liquid stakes with the borax and the ants didn’t touch it. There were seriously thousand and thousands of ants on a several trails going into a tree. This formula has finished the ant nest. However I suspect the ants are also nesting in the roof area of my house and I also have a plumbing issues I’m repair now that the ants have lessen. When I opened up the walls were the issues is there were piles of wet sawdust and and still many ants. I’m still in the war path, I highly suggest the advance bait.
This is very helpful! Thank you. The borax traps have worked against tiny pea ants but the carpenter ants don't care for it. I am going to try your suggestions.
Wow thanks for the most comprehensive array of products tried! Currently using Terro liquid bait and Borax solution in sprayer but will get the ones that worked for you.
This was good, thank you. Wish you could put the 2 products in a link below but I will re-watch the video and write them down. My "little buddies" are chewing a huge tree in my back yard from the inside.
Thank you! I am in Italy and will see if I can get this product here. I am noticing ants living in the rafters. yes frass is on the ground. Will get started.
I have too spent hours watching ants, not a fun experience. Especially when they roam with no intention it seems. My place is full of them right now it's not good. Appreciate the video.
Man I feel ya I have them in my attic as well I just bought the house and trying to move it and started to notice them so I bought some. Ortho home defense stuff started spraying around and sprayed around the vent for the plumbing near the roof and holy shit!! I pissed them off !! They started falling out of the ceiling I was freaking out and kept spraying as they hit the floor it killed them in a few mins so thank god !! But I still have a problem it’s not over yet I know there are more uhh this sucks so bad !!! And last week we had 4 days of rain all day !!! This made it even worse for the bugs. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️😭😭 lol good luck @Johnny
@@chasingwaves11 Same here haha, apparently it's something you overlook in this crazy market haha. Hope you get yours figured out. Find out where they are coming from, don't kill them, follow the and make sure they take that shit back to the nest haha.
Thank you a lot for educated me to deal with these enemies. Would look into how to combat fire ants . You certainly do your home work. Please keep us Guy's up to date on you're information, my man.
I found a nest in some foam insulation in the underside of my roof. So I cleaned everything good and didnt see any more ants since last year. I just had the roof deck sprayed with closed cell foam and then I heard some noise coming from the same location again. Sucks because I can hear them chewing up the new insulation but I cant see anything as they are between the 4” thick foam and the roof.. so I cant see them and I cant get to them. Hope these products help since they should have to come out for food/water
Thanks for sharing, it should help. I get little red ants that go after the cat kibble. He's missing teeth and a make a mess. Maggie farms borax based bait traps took about a week to make them disappear. Had a remote outdoor electric outlet with little reds ants in the box. Some borax powder mixed with peanut butter spread on the inside cover got rid of them. I have carpenter ant frass at the rear garage door and a probable nest at the front where the wood siding is damaged from a bad gutter. Just had a new roof put on. Hopefully that fixes my wet wood issue however i need to get some clapboard replaced. After watching this, i think my best plan is to bait, then dust. After the nest is gone, put a perimeter spray and work on sealing the various gaps in the siding, windows and doors.
heck, is that ALL the ant frass you had? What I have looks like a sawmill! I sprayed up in the ceiling where it looked like it was coming from but didn't solve the problem (in my garage). I'll try the products you recommended as soon as can get to a store
Carpenter ants especially forage at night. If you have an infestation, walk the perimeter of your house at night and find where they are going down to the ground and put your bait in several locations there. In my case they were coming/going from the bottom edge of my gable end siding, across the brick of the house, and down to the ground mostly at the corner of the house. So I put several soda bottle caps of bait out for them. Refresh after a rain as another poster noted below.
That is a good suggestion and I tried it several times but was never able to identify just where they were coming from. I’m sure it works for some though.
Thank you for this great video!! Regarding the bait question, my understanding is that ants go through cycles during which they are more attracted to protein based baits, and cycles in which they are more attracted to sugar-based bait. Both are essential to them but they tend to only go after a specific one for a while, and then be interested in the other for a while (not sure on cycle length but I think it's in the order of days/weeks). The advice I got was to try both, see which they were more interested in at the moment and go from there. Cheers and thanks again for the tips, I'm gonna get some of those products you recommend.
good extra information. thx. good luck to you. the stuff I tried eventually worked but it was a lot of trial and error. so far, no more re-infestation.
As I sat here in my home, another one was crawling on me! Ugh! Thank you for your time and research! Never dealt with anything besides sugar ants. Those are east to kill with Terro. Again, thank you! Ive got some bait shopping to do 😊
So happy to see your video during my searching for the solution to kill the carpenter ant . It cost me$ 400 to do the spray by a company. But the ant come right back after 10 days. I see ant at my front yard . May be the nest is out there. Yet now come into my house . I will try the product that you recommended. Hope it helps.
If they're not eating the wood, what are they eating? I put glue traps down, then review them in a week to see if I have visitors, I find tiny bugs on them.
could you post the names or links to the two products that worked for you? I would be very appreciative Advance Granular Carpenter Ant Bait, Bayer Drione Insecticide, Bait Traps, and puffer thing...please
375a advance granular can be found on amazon . i recommend you check out a video from a professional pest control channel like solutions pest and lawn for a comprehensive guide.
@@weekendwarriordiytv8220 No problem. You gave me hope and I ended up using TERRO2 lb. Outdoor Multi-Purpose Insect Killer Granules and bam, the carpenter ants were gone! Well, it worked for my neighbors and me too. Thanks
I would have happily clicked an purchased from an affiliate link for these products in your description. At very least listing names and links in description would be helpful.
FINALLY A GREAT VIDEO for my problem. I have carpenter ants in my shed. It is only in one place and not bad. I noticed white dust that looks to be insulation. Do I need both the Bayer and Advance or can I use just one?
I'm a little confused as you're saying two products solved the problem but how do you know which one did it? The Bayer Drione they're wanting way more for, $75-$100 a bottle.
@@weekendwarriordiytv8220 I wonder about the Bayer Delta Dust, they seem to say it works just as well as their Drione, but its also waterproof? I guess you never tried that one
You should have read the ingredients of that powder stuff. I believe it is Diatomaceous Earth. You didn't mention how much your brand name product was but if you just buy the straight Diatomaceous Earth it probably would be much cheaper.. As for some baits working or not working, I believe you're mixing up ants that go for sugar and these carpenter ants which only go for proteins.
Good vid, but the camera person... did they ingest some of that stuff ? Kinda rolling around on the high sea there LOL... but good advice and thanks again !
I’m so sorry you had to deal with that! I have a sudden SWARM of black ants. I think they may be bull ants. I need back surgery and can’t walk very well. Looks like I’ll need an exterminator ASAP. Thanks!
So what I'm thinking is that carpenter ants go for protein rather than sugar like the smaller ants. I had two kinds of ants, smaller ones and the carpenter ones. The Terro ant bait got rid of the smaller ones but the carpenter ants ignored it (except for the few that tried to walk through it and drowned!). Now I'll try the ones that worked for you on my carpenter ants.
I will ask the same question so many others have asked you, where did you get the green ant bait feeders that you stuck in the ground???? PLEASE answer this question.
Thank you for making this video! I have carpenters ants pretty bad and will try your recommendations! Have you ever seen tge winged ants? I make sure to kill those immediately. Does that mean they are starting another colony in my house? Thank you!
I’m in Canada, impossible to find the “Advance carpenter ant bait”..if anyone has a link I’d appreciate (or the bayer drione). I have carpenter ants but it seems like most products sold in stores are for small ants
THANKS MAN / YOU WERE TO THE POINT AND NO UNNECESSARY B/S / JUST GOOD OLD ALL AMERICAN GOD FEARING TRUTH , TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY / A HARD THING TO FIND NOW-A-DAYS / THANKS AGAIN
A lot of the stuff professional pest control stuff you just can't get unlessed you are licensed in some way. Dont get me wrong im sure it's different for each state but mine at least you need a license.
You can purchase tempo. Most pest control companies use it as a first resort. It don’t kill your lawn and you can use inside and outside. There are other products that work well at any hardware store garden sections That won’t harm plants as well. Pest control companies are a last resort they over charge and bs 98% of the time they just want that money no joke
When it comes applying any pest control liquids always read the directions. Because it will leave a residue on surface of you don’t add the appropriate amount of water.
This is not a DIY. This is a review of a bunch of products and their effect on carpenter ants. You're advise should be, don't be like me and buy any products at home depot or any big box store as their a waste of money!! The only professional grade product you used to control carpenter ants in this video was the 375a which is bait. You're supposed to put a minimal amount in a spot where you see ant activity and make sure that bait is COMPLETELY GONE before putting out more this stuff its expensive and you really don't need much and it should attract the ant RIGHT AWAY. In addition to bait, you should have something that doesn't require digestion 1) Insecticide with Bifenthrin such as BIFEN IT , 2) Insect growth regulator like TEKKO PRO to prevent them from reproducing and 3) Wood damage prevention product like BORA CARE which makes the wood toxic so they don't chew up anymore of your home. You should also try to figure out how they got into your house in the first place, is there a tree branch that touches the house or are their carpenter ants on the power line. Look at near by trees and how theyre growing if their growing sideways that is probably another satellite colony. Carpenter ant activity happens late at night so inspect at night. Carpenter ants are territorial , and will kill other ants including termites for territory . Centipedes and Spiders are predators so if you see them let them be so they can fight the carpenter ants. Last tip, don't make your own bait, that sweet and protein based stuff could attract a squirrel or another small mammal and kill it.
Most of the ant products they sell at the big box stores have worked fine for me. The poison drops work great for the smaller ants. The sprays work good for the carpenter ants.
I am new to your channel and I have the same problem you have but I will subscribe to your channel I didn't get the name of the stuff you're using it would help me so much if you can give me the name again because my problem is pretty bad here I have tried everything you are using but somehow some way they keep coming back so if you can help me I would really appreciate it thanks so much a new member to your channel

FINALLY A GREAT VIDEO for my problem. I have carpenter ants in my shed. It is only in one place and not bad. I noticed white dust that looks to be insulation. Do I need both the Bayer and Advance or can I use just one?
I've been impressed with taurus sc for our carpenter ants.
Enjoy the video but was really hoping for some links to products
Thanks. Just placed my order on Amazon
I'm a little confused as you're saying two products solved the problem but how do you know which one did it?
The Bayer Drione they're wanting way more for, $75-$100 a bottle.
I would use both. One was used in the walls and one for traps outside
Where did you buy your poison
did you try the terro products?
I’m so sorry you had to deal with that!
I have a sudden SWARM of black ants. I think they may be bull ants.
I need back surgery and can’t walk very well. Looks like I’ll need an exterminator ASAP.
Thanks!
Thank You so Much!!! I hope this works for us too!
Thank you so much for this information.
the boric powder and the sugar never works for me...tried different strenghts but no, the ants do not like it.
Where did you buy the advance products? Online only?
all purchased on line. I hope your ant issue is gone
Antscanada when he sees this: im about to end this mans whole career
Wondering where you got the powder sprayer.
pretty sure I just bought one off amazon.
Excellent video thanks!
Thanks 🙏🏻 to
Can you send me the names of your ant killers please I have the same going you did nothing works yet.
Thanks man well noted
I will ask the same question so many others have asked you, where did you get the green ant bait feeders that you stuck in the ground???? PLEASE answer this question.
I found them! You have to order the bait and traps online. Search "Ant no more bait station" for the green holders.
so sorry for the late response. everything I purchased was on line. hope your ant problem is long gone
Hi thanks for the info!
Wish me luck!!
I am feeling defeated with the carpenter ants. Now I’m very excited to try the products suggested in this video. After reading all the comments.
Thank you
Thank you for making this video!
Are the carpenter ants gone - gone outside??
Be careful with Drione - it is very bad to breathe.
There are other products that work well at any hardware store garden sections
That won’t harm plants as well. Pest control companies are a last resort they over charge and bs 98% of the time they just want that money no joke
When it comes applying any pest control liquids always read the directions. Because it will leave a residue on surface of you don’t add the appropriate amount of water.
Thank you thank you thank you
thanks I am at a loss dealing with these invaders
I've heard good things about that bait.
We're trying to do it organically, not with chemicals.
Thanks for the excellent video!!!...
