Homeowner Carpenter Ant Infestation

Piles of wood and insulation falling from ceiling from a carpenter ant infestation. Ants originated from a planter box 50 feet away and up two stories of the house into the attic.

Recently built our house on top of an old wooden shed the floors had pinholes in them and before we moved in we had an exterminator check it out. Said that there was no termites but we didn't even think or ask about carpenter ants. Few months living here we are seeing black ant flys (about 5 a day they are atracted to the light, windows and white furniture. ) but no ant trails. Going to try borax and sugar mix on our counter tops because I'm not sure where to look for them (only saw a few stray regular ants around our apples.,) .
