Really looking forward to your next installments. I have just purchased a 350z and I am using it as a track car but in an unmodified class, so really restricted in what I can do. Mods so far are brake pads, hi temp fluid and tyres (can do either sway bar OR exhaust and 1inch wider wheels, that it for mods). Really want to do something with seats but got stuck on how to keep legally compliant for street use because of seat airbags. Keep up the good work
Really enjoyed this video! Lots do to, but all nicely prioritised and shouldn't be too difficult for you. I wonder if you'll be having a go at drifting in this? That would make an excellent series off the back of this one. Can't wait for the next video! Loved your Clio brake testing and looking forward to seeing Gary's return. Thank you!
Thanks David. Would love to go drifting but I'm just worried about cost as i'd need to find a venue and afford to replace the tyres. Maybe though. Gary will be pleased to hear that!
OMP TRS is a nice seat that is budget friendly. The only seats I have heard of having difficulties fitting in a Z are wide seats for us larger drivers, especially if they are a containment seat. Unless multiple people are going to be driving the car don’t bother with seat rails.
Look into cobra nogaro seats from demontweeks- you can use the bride side mount rails. I had the bride zeta 3 bucket and the shoulder sections rubbed on the door card- annoying getting in and out too
Can you please tell me which flare tool and which type flare you made? I can't seem to find any info on what flare I need to make for this car. Thanks!
I say spray the whole thing with Por 15. And powdercoat the small stuff. Sway bars and stuff I would go with aftermarket of course. SS brake lines ASAP tho.
The transmission tunnel has a bulge on the drivers side at the front left seat mounting point - that's what makes swapping the seat a problem if you don't use the factory seat rails.
Did you consider renewing the brake lines right back to the master cylinder ? pretty impressive tool to flare the steel brake lines though . Cars coming together nicely now !
my god with all that old dirt deposited around those brake lines as well as the rest of the undercarriage its no wonder the rust damage is so severe. What did the previous owner do with it? Race it in the Baja 1000 and never wash it afterwards?
Class video Neil, looking forward to seeing how this one develops. Considered a 350z before going for the 986 boxster s. Will be interesting to see how you find the comparison.
Nice progress! Brake lines are a PITA for sure, really tricky to get the double flare right the first time if you haven't practiced. Those rear cross members were pretty bad. I think my '70s era 280 Z had less rust on the rear suspension. Probably good you replaced them.
Personally I've never had much luck with rust treatments. In your shoes I'd be tempted to scrape/brush off loose rust then use Dinitrol ML followed by Dinitrol 4941 either with spray cans or using a compressor. Just my thoughts 😀
Bought 350z myself a week ago. It has Bottom end engine problem, so i`ll dive under around Christmas :) Where about from UK u get the parts for the Z if i may ask ? Lovely channel, really enjoying watching it !!
Do UK new car dealers sell undercoating pkg as an option at the time of purchase? This stuff gets pushed all the time in the states and is a "profit generater". It seems UK dealers could push this and help cars live longer and make money at the same time. Take a wire wheel to everything under there and use 4 cans of rust converter.
I'm sure you have a full time job but please try and make more video's! Your great! Actually sit down and put them on the tv like i'm watching a car show! Where's your mate gone btw? Ps: I used to live in Abingdon for years - never saw you around though!
Thanks for your vids. I'm in the states and like seeing all of the many differences in cars, attitudes, problems and their solutions. One big difference highlighted in this video is the use of copper brake line. There may be parts of the US that this is still done (I don't know of any), but I haven't seen copper used in years. It's not as structurally sound for high pressure as other materials and it has its own problem with oxidizing. Most common now is stainless, but it isn't cheap and it's difficult to flare properly. Are aluminized and other coated options readily available in the UK? Why did you choose copper?
It was because of your 350z videos I am now buying one this coming Saturday. It also has some advisories on rusty hard lines. I would like to get the new sub frame mounts. Do you have a link? Also would you be interested in helping? I could be a subscriber special car haha. Great work mate. Keep it up.
Again a great video and you definitely did good to hire that lift, it is a torture to do that without one. I am still a bit surprised how rusty (crusty 😆 ) your Z is... I am not sure how it is in UK, but maybe you can get used Recaros from Renault Megane 2 or 3 , you can sometimes get them cheap and they are great seats for sporty driving. And they are very usable still. Already looking forward to the upcoming videos and greetings from Bavaria
See some good seat makes being posted, but I'm going to say Corbeau as they sometimes get over looked. There racing seats start from £350 and meet FIA regs. There down in East Sussex with Luke racing so you could always get some harness at the same time. My EBC discs and pads are waiting to go on my Z. i got the same discs but I went for yellow stuff as it's my road car. I thought blue stuff wasn't road legal here? Or you planning on only tracking the car?
Road and Race I didn't know they passed now, But yellow is good enough for my needs. Something with just a little more bite over the stock setup. Cheers 👍
Would it be worth buying an 08 g35x 135k miles will a Rusty subframe for 3500 as a 17 yo? I’m thinking if it’s dangerous n how much to fix n other problems it could cause? Anyone have any helpful insights?
That's how my 3 year old Whiteline rear ARB will look....by next year! A good ARB and adjustable, just a shit coating finish and looking nasty already. 2007 Hawk STi Spec D.
Be careful with how aggressive you go with a rear anti-roll bar. To stiff of a bar will make the car very tail happy. Most road racers leave the stock bar or disconnect it all together.
My brake lines all good just finished putting Stoptech pads and ATE blue brake fluid. How much ware them subframe mounts ?? mine are no better but i think it will be wire brush and hammerite underbody seal like on dc2... Whole bottom.
Makes 3 of us. Paint on my ebc pads went on FIRE after few laps of donington :S Threw em out and had some cheap Mintex that survived whole trackday at donington and have not went in flames
WoW. Did they borrow these lovely hand tools for the job, or they are your own? Good job however, i wish i could be this good and not clumsy with my shovel sized hands..
This is better than Top Gear. Really likeable guy. Keep up the good work 😁
Many thanks Florian. Glad to hear you like it!
Lol sit down mate!
This channel deserves a tonne more sub. You seem like a really likeable guy and it's just so calming just seeing you work on your car. Keep it up!
Thanks mate for you kind comment.
I swear i got a rust chip in the eye just by watching the video... Scary stuff
I GOT IT IN BOTH EYES

Cool to hear you are tracking your Z. I’d be keen to hear what bucket seat you get as I’m after one too.
Awesome, no point going forward if you can’t stop, nice work, thanks for sharing.
Yeeees another epic video😎 . Keep up the work guys

Your getting there. Looking forward to the next episodes.

Coming on very nicely mate.Look forward to the next one.Need some of those pads myself mate.🏁🍻
Can you please tell me which flare tool and which type flare you made?

Great video as always look forward to seeing how the car progress
My next project - in process of measuring my lines (tomorrow 🙏) then chose Goodridge UK - any suggestions?
If may, why copper lines in between…
The transmission tunnel has a bulge on the drivers side at the front left seat mounting point - that's what makes swapping the seat a problem if you don't use the factory seat rails.
Ah-ha! Thanks for the top tip!
You can rent lifts like that in the UK? Thats awesome. Good vid man!
Did you consider renewing the brake lines right back to the master cylinder ? pretty impressive tool to flare the steel brake lines though . Cars coming together nicely now !
We inspected the lines and they all had a plastic coating on them so they were fine.
please explain what youre doing when doing the montage, really engages the audience more i think
Haha, nice Final Space pun!
Good content as always, can´t wait to see the Z on a track.
Thanks Andre! The next episode is now up!
Sabelt GT3 I've been looking at for my 350Z, FIA approved and not insane money
my god with all that old dirt deposited around those brake lines as well as the rest of the undercarriage its no wonder the rust damage is so severe. What did the previous owner do with it? Race it in the Baja 1000 and never wash it afterwards?

love how he hit the rusty clip towards the new open end of the brake pipe....I'm sure no rust went in there - its only the brakes...
Does that flaring tool come in one (various size) i have a flaring tool as i do air conditioning, would that be suitable?
loving the GOA part

look good
Very interesting video!!
Where can I buy parts for my 350z in UK? Any shop suggestions? Where do you buy yours ?
Clark Motorsport
Dose the 350z rust ass much as the Mazda mx5 ?
Personally I've never had much luck with rust treatments. In your shoes I'd be tempted to scrape/brush off loose rust then use Dinitrol ML followed by Dinitrol 4941 either with spray cans or using a compressor. Just my thoughts 😀
Great work Neil 👍
Cheers Simon.
Great video man ,keep it up , where did you get your ramps?!
Thanks!. They are by Race Ramps
Cool video
What’s happening with the Clio?
Good job, your 350Z will be super nice once done!
"Crusty" that definitely was the right word, like an add for safety glasses.
I'd suggest looking at Bimarco seats. They seem great value for money!
Bought 350z myself a week ago. It has Bottom end engine problem, so i`ll dive under around Christmas :)
Where about from UK u get the parts for the Z if i may ask ?
Lovely channel, really enjoying watching it !!
Thanks mate. I get my parts from Euro Car Parts, Opie Oils, Torquen, Tarmac Sportz, and Clark Motorsport
IS the 350Z a drive by wire car? Hydraulic steering or electric? Seems like a fun DD/project!
Throttle is drive by wire. Steering is hydraulic. It's a great, fun car to drive.

Big thanks Andy. That's the highest compliment you could give.
Did you watch until the end...?
Road and Race - Ha ha was commenting half way through but then yes I did!!
Did someone take off the bitumen paint?
Don't thinK it was ever on it!
Thanks for your vids. I'm in the states and like seeing all of the many differences in cars, attitudes, problems and their solutions.

Correct. I think copper-nickel is legal now, though.

Why screw a new piece on a rusty chassis or whatever without cleaning it up and treating it against corrosion?
you could have done the dust guards behind the discs to make it look even better!
Yeah, good point. Will do in the future.
Again a great video and you definitely did good to hire that lift, it is a torture to do that without one.

Thanks for the suggestion Nick. Bluestuff have just passed R90 approval so are legal now. Yellow will be fine if you're not tracking it though.
Road and Race I didn't know they passed now, But yellow is good enough for my needs. Something with just a little more bite over the stock setup.
Cheers 👍
This is your Garage is getting a fair bit of coverage lately. The "Car Throttle" guys use the Oxford one as well.
Yeah. It's the only one if it's type I know of.
Looks like an easy job where handled by professionals
I had a friend who became addicted to brake fluid 😮 So as a friend we had a heart to heart but he eventually convinced me he can stop at anytime.😁
J B jesus lol
Vintage Tech Repairs 😂
It's shocking how rusty more modern cars seem get. I've got a 2003 Seat Leon and it looks almost brand new underneath.
Would it be worth buying an 08 g35x 135k miles will a Rusty subframe for 3500 as a 17 yo? I’m thinking if it’s dangerous n how much to fix n other problems it could cause? Anyone have any helpful insights?
Great feature 👍
was this zed a marine zed?!....Has it been under water in the pacific?! Never seen a car like this at this age.....ever!!
I enjoyed that, even though it was a little distracting watching you struggled to read from the cue cards. Did Gary write them or something?
I wish the budget would stretch to cue cards!
Good job!

Cool. Thanks for the top tip.
Next mode should be longtube intake ...headers and plenum upgrade ... Lot of 350z making 340whp with these mods
Thanks for the suggestion. It’s now on my list!
Rust? Glad we live in Oz. Mine is still like new underneath!
My brake lines all good just finished putting Stoptech pads and ATE blue brake fluid. How much ware them subframe mounts ?? mine are no better but i think it will be wire brush and hammerite underbody seal like on dc2... Whole bottom.
EBC are the worst breaks I’ve ever fitted and I’ve used almost the full range ..
me too, i advice carbone lorraine
Makes 3 of us. Paint on my ebc pads went on FIRE after few laps of donington :S Threw em out and had some cheap Mintex that survived whole trackday at donington and have not went in flames
Have you tried the Bluestuff? Work really well for me.

Teng tools come with the lift rental. Some were Adam's tools though.
It really doesn't look that bad. I must be mad lol
Vintage Tech Repairs Jesus we don't need another tax
We're lucky in Australia where such bad corrosion on cars simply doesn't exist thanks our climate
Advan AD08R for the tires and Recaro Pole Position for the bucket seats
I own a 2004 350z and man mine doesn’t even have that much rust like wtf
Has the BMW gone yet??
No, not yet. Still for sale. Interested?
Bride seat!
Also, keep up the good work. Really interesting to watch and well edited!
I'm surprised copper brake lines are legal in the U.K. They're illegal in the U.S.
Not the rust! Perks of living in CA for myself... not to rub in or anything ;)
my god these 350z are so rust friendly !!! aluminium thanks
Came here for the repair, stayed for the music.
Thanks mate!
Buy tyres and i can fit them at protyre mate
That's a very kind offer. Are you local to Peterborough?
Road and Race near slough or burnham or maidenehad
This guy clearly hasn’t had an mx5 😂 mine is undergoing major surgery as we speak 👍
i want to buy a 350z but this series so far has me scared about buying one as rsuted as yours lol
Lol you know it's time to worry about rust when you realize you are filling the holes in the floor with bondo.
awsome music in this video. sadly you don't have your 986 anymore, which was the reason i subbed to your channel. still interesting content though.
Thanks mate. Good to hear you like the music as I write it myself.
Same. I was hoping he would get Cayman or upgrade to a newer Boxster. Although I enjoyed the M3 too.
I need a tetanus shot after this video.
Like your vids but better more cheerful music would make a huge difference
Has this car been driven on Venus? 😫 Your Government needs to enact a rust tax. 😉
I love seeing my car on your channel again. 👍🏻
Looks nasty should of flipped it rust bucket! Must of been a coast car saying that my buddy’s 350 nismo was full of rust also
5k for a bucket of rust what a rip sould of kept the boxster bro and spent the 5 k on it..oh well each to their own I geuss cheers
Daniel Thomas , I geuss so.
"Dangerously" rusty?
How did you come to that conclusion.....thats all just light surface rust my man.
