It wasn't really mimicking it was trying to meet nasa requirements, it's like if you look at early dive watch they all look the same because they wanted a navy contract

Cool watch, not fan of quartz watch, but this one is an exception, will go hunt for a used one.

Yeh, quartz is not everyone's cup of tea, but I"m definitely warming up to it recently, specially how it is I can just grab these watches and go without setting the time or date. Having said that, a mechanical watch will always have a "soul" for me, if that makes sense.

@@TheChirpyPanda Yeah, I am more into mechanical, automatic watches mostly. I picked up this hobby more than 20 years ago, stopped it a few years later but now picking it up again.

I'm a little like you, I picked this hobby up about 10 years ago but bought alot of quartz watches not knowing much about mechnical watches. Have picked up the hobby again recently and am loving the diversity of the watches as well as the community.

Good review. I wear mine on the NASA NATO as well. It's one of the most comfortable in my collection. The supplied leather feels cheap in comparison. I think the best feature of the watch is the raised sapphire glass, which you worry about initially but so far, no issues with chipping. I think they're fairly available on the second hand market because a lot of people buy them and then don't feel comfortable with the size, so sell it on. I've also got a 1969 Omega Speedmaster Professional which was built about two months after the Apollo 11 mission. Right now it's on the period correct Forstner mesh strap. If you're looking to buy used as far as the Speedy Pro goes, you might want to check out watches from around the 80's and 90's. Though there might be a number coming on the market as people move their current Speedys out of their collections for the new version.

    I. Eleven thy were not copying Omega. They were following NASA guidelines for a space mission watch......

Nice review, and lovely watch, shame the if you purchase the strap version you can't flip it for a bracelet.

Yeh I really wanted a metal bracelet, but unfortunately it only came in the nato and the nylon looking straps. The metal bracelet version of this watch has a polished case which doesn't look as good.

You and me both! However, I think its still worth having in the collection, being the other moon watch after all.
