I think one particular demon that should've been in the recent SMT 4 and Apocalypse was Doppelganger. It felt really weird in strange journey to see the main character as a random encounter what with his one eye/crazy smile.

Double fact on censorship on the game: Dx2 ever since the Bayonetta re-run delved into more ‘colorful’ words to use and yet still maintain the 12+ rating.
They kinda made him in another form as Messiah from Persona 3. It's both his passion form and pure form at the same time (like with white robes and a golden crucifix on his back)
@@nerobiblios4086 No Puritan has really touched Atlus. @@vr8652 That's cuz SMT/Persona is only followe by it's fans. Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh was popular, on TV, and had merchandise everywhere so it was easily attacked for lesser offenses. You only gonna know about Sataneal or Agony IF you actually play those games or follow SMT. Plus nowadays it's a waste of energy as a Christian to "attack" specific videogame media. Another thing is Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh was marketed to kids. We Christians try to keep our kids pure.
It is outright odd that Leviathan hasn't appeared properly in a Megaten game yet alart from Demi-kids, same said for Posiedon and Hades. And I agree, they should rotate the Fallen and Tyrant race demons around more often cause theirs so many of them, I would kill to have Bael, Arioch, and Dagon back.
It's super neat seeing the huge range of demons the series has, but in the end, you always fall towards the Fiends and Tyrants or specific big names like Metatron, Huang Long/Kohryu, Shiva, etc. Also, saying no Pixie is such a grave sin that you're getting Satan called on you
Ok gonna mythology nerd here gonna nitpick on a few things. First off SMT's version of Baal is based on Hadad, the Semitic storm god, who, generally speaking would be considered the head of his specific pantheon. Though who the head of almost any given pantheon is going to depend on where in the world you are and what time period you're in, which is why in a specific passage of the Bible Dagon is sort of treated as the chief god of the Philistine pantheon, which is largely the same as the Semitic pantheon, as pretty much all of the Mesopotamian pantheons are interrelated, and even the Greek pantheon derives a lot from them. Now Beelzebub, despite popular belief is not based on Hadad(the most common god associated with the title Baal, so it's an easy mistake to make), but rather a different god called Baal Zebul. Baal Zebul isn't the most well documented god, but what we've gathered from the name(Baal Zebul means Lord of the High Place, probably), the region he was worshipped in, and the Bible story he's named in, Baal Zebul is a god of healing/disease worshipped by the Philistines at mountaintop shrines. This does put him in the same pantheon as Hadad(sort of) but it does mean the whole thing about Baal being Beelzebub in SMT4 is kind of off base. Good video though, I liked your picks.
0:25 "Whenever you are playing Persona, mainline or any other spinoff, they have one thing in common, and that's a compendium of monsters in every game" *shows cover art of Digital Devil Saga*
Actually, most of the main personas of P5 are based on either a charatcer from a story, or a real person. Personas like Arsene, Milady, Robin Hood, and Carmen are all from famous works of fiction; and Personas like Goemon and Captain Kidd were real people.
@Cid Redwood If Persona Q2 had the horror labyrinth that was in the drawing board, I think it would be cool seeing the some Shadows based on the movie characters seen in SMT.
Ophanim there is a weird one SInce thats actually a Cherub's appearance in that design, meanwhile an Ophan's more common name is a Throne, which we do see often in the series
He's not exactly forgotten but I would LOVE to see Dagda appear in SMTV, he's only appeared in Demikids, the P2 trilogy and we can't forget his appearance in Apocalypse, the thing is he's not obtainable in Apocalypse so I really wanna see him with his Apocalypse design as an obtainable demon in the next game, maybe they'll even add him to Dx2 TL;DR: I'm a big Dagda stan and I hope he'll appear in the next game or at the very least, Dx2
The demons in persona 2 were what got me into mythology in the first place. I just had to make a contract with every one just to get their compendium info
I'd appreciate that; it would both introduce people who haven't used translated roms of them to the start of smt, and it would be a chance to balance the games (the encounter rates, the dungeon design, etc.)
I would love to have more reps from the Lovecraft mythos! However I think the biggest hurdle is the copyright that's held on his works and their use in other media, especially now since Lovecraft is very popular. I don't think the current holders would demand a ton of royalties (although I could be wrong) but it might not be worth it to Atlus. I do think they'd listen if there was enough demand for that mythos from the fans
I’d like to see them bring Bug back from the original Megami Tensei. It was a funny joke demon based on a glitchs in video games and appears, intentionally, as a glitched placeholder sprite. Otherwise I’d be down for more Native American, Hawaiian, or urban legend demons/personas. Also, it’d be neat to see character personas in mainline SMT as demons. Persona 5 has me wishing for more fictional story characters to be featured as demons like Snow White, Petter Pan or Humpty Dumpty. I’d definitely love to see the Mad Hatter or Cheshire Cat in addition to Alice.
I do want to say this was a very cool video I learned a lot I feel! Also Alice's adventures in wonderland the original book is in public domain so that's one reason she can be recurring, Disney only own *their* version of Alice. Alice herself can be used by anyone in any media they like :3 I do think Frankenstein's monster should come back too...I mean he's in public domain as well. Also Audrey would make the musical buff in my very happy.
Some of my choices for demons that should be in future games. Haokah, Ictinike, Sindura, Mammon's if design, Es, and Lugh's soul hackers design. surprised Lugh hasn't appeared in more game seeing as Cu Chulainn is a very prevalent demon.
Another demon that could fit into that "human invention" category would be Chemtrails. I know he appeared recently, so he doesn't really fit into this video, but he was a unique idea for a demon and has such a weird, unsettling design.
I'd love to see Suijin, the Shinto god of water, appear as a demon in SMT. This can go for other elemental gods, like Fujin & Raijin, but I think it would be very unique to have Suijin, as he doesn't get very many depictions in pop-culture. Water is my favourite element, and ice magic could easily suit him as the SMT equivalent. It'd be interesting to see what sort of design they could do with him, because while I'm fine with most water-gods being donned in gold, sporting fish-like features like scales or gills, I'd love to see something akin to Odin's redesign, but with a blue and black colour scheme, and obviously attire more befitting that of an ancient Japanese god. I picture him as this stoic king who fights using hydromancy, and can bend water to crash down on his foes like a dragon. One of his special moves could be shape-shifting part of his body into a water-dragon in a flurry of attacks (e.g. gliding across the water like a slithering dragon, then clawing and tail-slamming the enemy, before finishing them off with a high-pressure beam of water). Given his affiliation with Shinto Mythology, I think he would be best suited as a Neutral demon, or a dark demon, given that water and the seas have many secrets within their depths.
Fun fact about Chris the Car: He drops a cursed weapon. There's a bug in the SNES version where if you equip and unequip a cursed weapon enough (by cursebreaking it obv) it gets stuck on you permanently. I beat SMT2 the first time with a cursed weapon from the first dungeon stuck to me.
One design that I haven't seen but I desperately want to see realized is a design that I heard Kaneko thought of for Lucifer. I remember having heard him say that in all the SMT games we haven't seen what Lucifer REALLY looks like. A design that kaneko described as a combination of his angelic and demonic forms with 12 wings to boot. To address something real quick, no, I am not counting the ugly ass design from SMT IV with those freaking light rays meant to be his "wings". I love the two SMT IV games but fuck that design. Merkabah's design was far better anyway in comparison. I only ever got to FIGHT against Lucifer in Nocturne and in DS1: Overclocked, but I want to have the full on SMT2/MT2 Experience with him since we never got to have that in any official capacity here in the west. I want him to come back in a big way with the design Kaneko mentioned, I doubt it would happen but a guy can dream. Btw I also want Ophanim to come back, grew to really like the design when I used him in Persona Q2.
Fun fact Rahab was consider a primordial entity god slew before creation. so he could easily have a major story role perhaps even as the main antagonist.
Well there is Loa which is from Voudon ,Voudou, or Voodoo that is only represented as Skull with a snake through it. It is also written as Iwa and there prominent one such as Baron Samedi, Papa Legba, and Erzulie Freda. There also Ogou who might be related to Ogun who appeared as a Persona of one of the main characters from the first Persona game.
They're not used in past games (at least to my knowledge), but I think it would be awesome if SMT included some deities from the *expansive* selection available from the Mayan and Aztec religions. Xōchipilli is one of my personal favorites.
11:14 Objection, your Honor. The theme from Shin Megami Tensei IV was of the Samurai, and their discovery of what knowledge the church was holding from them. Why NOT add this guy as either a recruitable demon, and have the story reason be that he defected from the Samurai after learning the truth?
1:20 Something that I freaking adore about the games as well. I like story, the characters, and the demons. I did not know about Remiel before Devil Survivor.
I want Chemtrails to come back, and bring in more cryptids, Jersey Devil, Flatwoods Monster, and Loch Ness could join Mothman as midlevel demons people love.
Interesting way of saying Rahab, giving the "Ra" part more of a "Ray" pronunciation. In the Legacy of Kain series, which also featured its share of names from various religious mythos, the vampire turned merman had the first part of his name spoken with a sort of "Ruh" sound.
There are a lot of historical based demons in the demikids series that I'd love to see added in future SMT with new revamped designs like King Arthur who appeared in both DemiKids and in Persona 2 having wildly different designs in both (but oddly keeping a winged helmet and a shield with a face). Also a few demons got designs in those games that could be revamped by Kaneko and Masayuki to fit the mainline aesthetic that would be interesting addition to the roster. One example that would be good is Airgetlam who has been featured in P1 and P2 and Demikids but not in mainline not even SMT 4 FINAL even though that game features Irish myth so prominently.
A recruitable Law-Neutral alignment demon you could recruit in Nine that I wish would come back is Jeanne De Arc basically she's actually a good demon to utilize as she learns decent physical attack skills, potent healing spells, potent offensive Almighty attribute spells including most versions of Hama, decent buff spells, decent debuff spells. All around she's a decent Megaten Demon who I wish didn't have Nine as her only appearance.
@@derrickhaggard Ah, i only just now noticed you wrote "Recruitable." Yeah you can only get her through fusion in SMT IV/Apocalypse. Maybe in SMT V she'll be a normal encounter.
Would be nice if the next Persona game had the team's theme revolving around Lovecraftian or Zoroastrian mythology, seeing as how each team from P2 onward had a specific theme (at least in their initial Personas).
Oh, you'll be at AWA, I'm a volunteer at the oon, so i'll check out your panel and ask a few questions of Persona and SMT related related to greek myths basically Persona 3 questions if Erebus' childern might get involved.
Kinda surprised that, given the mention of Soul Hackers' Shadow there's no mention in the vid of the whole Rumor Race from that game. Most of them are only in SH from what I know and are both interesting and rather terrifying...except Turbo Granny, she's just hilarious and I like that.
NINE's Adam is the biblical Adam, not Adam Kadmon. It's an incredibly common mistake thanks to the wiki's article, which has erroneous information that no one's ever bothered to correct. The design alone makes it obvious if you compare it to Eve's, and you can easily check it in gameplay videos, official guide scans and Japanese wikis.
I think another figure that I hope to see come back is Anahita from Strange Journey. As my favorite figure from Zoroastrianism, alongside having parallels to Ishtar and Sarasvati, I think she'd be another awesome addition to the roster.
I love the monsters in this series! It's absolutely one of my favorite things to see all the new and interesting monsters it's one of my favorite parts of progressing, getting to see what I'll encounter next. I haven't seen basically any of the older cut ones because I'm a relative newbie to the series. I got into Persona from the P4 Anime when I happened to come across on Hulu ages ago, I think I was still in Middle School at the time, then eventually I got the game, but I never beat it because I got stuck on Kanji's palace, but then I got Persona 5 and *really* fell in love with the series, like I considered myself a casual fan before, but ever since I played P5 I'm a way bigger fan now, I just got Royal and am playing through it now and I'm so hyped all over again, god I love this series I need to go back and play some of the older games sometime.
I think one that is REALLY cool is Sedna from Inuit mythology. I don't believe Inuit mythology is in SMT or Persona much at all, so Sedna would be cool to add to more games. I also think she should be stronger, if she is in the game.
At least she's being somewhat recurring in recent memory. It would be cool to get more Native American demons in general aside from maybe Aztec and Mayan since they're the most represented.

Well Adam kadmon got his Time to shine in P5R. Which is pretty cool Honestly.
This dude predicted Adam Kadmon in Royal
Or he simply had the info about the game before it was released in Japan.
"Persona 5 Royal has been released for the PlayStation 4 in Japan on October 31, 2019."
So actually, some people played it already before the release date and finished it, especially the press.
@@Kyoukichi can you just let me believe? :( plus he doesn't mention it so I doubt he knew about it
Oh man these demons in SMT 5 would be sick.
YeAh LiKe PiXiE
Glad to see some of them return either in P5R and/or SMT5.
I think one particular demon that should've been in the recent SMT 4 and Apocalypse was Doppelganger.
It felt really weird in strange journey to see the main character as a random encounter what with his one eye/crazy smile.
So, actually he predicted Maria and Adam Kadmon
Or he simply had the info about the game before it was released in Japan.

Not to mention, some of those demons also appear in Shin Megami Tensei Liberation D×2, which is also rated Teen.
Double fact on censorship on the game: Dx2 ever since the Bayonetta re-run delved into more ‘colorful’ words to use and yet still maintain the 12+ rating.
one i think that should return is "Agony", he is literally jesus christ, and he only appeared in the first Devil Summoner...
They kinda made him in another form as Messiah from Persona 3. It's both his passion form and pure form at the same time (like with white robes and a golden crucifix on his back)
That's only if they bring back the Undead race which Agony was a part of.
He could, but unfortunately if said game ever comes to the west it's going to censor him to an extent. Puritans would call it satanic or some shit.
@@nerobiblios4086 No Puritan has really touched Atlus.
Even with all the nagging of Kasumi's Phantom Suit in P5R, (despite her being a ballerina wearing the traditional ballerina dress) she's still dressed as shown at release.
They haven't censored Joker's ultimate persona (being Satanael) or other Satanic-esque demons in SMT for western audiences, including Satan himself.
Oh, adam kadmon came back alright

Honestly i cannot think of crappier fallen, the competition is that stiff...
I would choose Decarabia but people seem to like it a lot
The funny thing is, my intense interest in mythology was started by Persona 2
It is outright odd that Leviathan hasn't appeared properly in a Megaten game yet alart from Demi-kids, same said for Posiedon and Hades.
And I agree, they should rotate the Fallen and Tyrant race demons around more often cause theirs so many of them, I would kill to have Bael, Arioch, and Dagon back.
Why is that odd? We all know Demi Kids is THE GAME to be represented in I mean like if you ain’t in it you aren’t a cool demon.
@@tatsuyasuou3368 agreed
Hades got to be Eikichi's Persona (which is a pretty sick rendition), but he needs more.
Honestly it's weird how two of the big three have only one time apart from Demi-kids
It's sprites are used in Soul Hackers as a Zedd form :o
Terminator should be the "Dante" from SMT V
Beetlejuice was in a Shin Megami game? Holy shit that’s awesome.
He must be happy that Adam Kadmon is back
0:25 "Whenever you are playing Persona, mainline or any other spinoff, they have one thing in common, and that's a compendium of monsters in every game"
*shows cover art of Digital Devil Saga*
I don't see why Atlus wouldn't bring back the movie characters, being how the literal second persona found in the entirety in P5 is *ZORRO*
Actually, most of the main personas of P5 are based on either a charatcer from a story, or a real person. Personas like Arsene, Milady, Robin Hood, and Carmen are all from famous works of fiction; and Personas like Goemon and Captain Kidd were real people.
@Cid Redwood
If Persona Q2 had the horror labyrinth that was in the drawing board, I think it would be cool seeing the some Shadows based on the movie characters seen in SMT.
@@numebernode That was the original Persona Q. Q2 didn't have a horror labyrinth.
@William Sloan They said "on the drawing board". It didn't have one in the final game but they thought about it.
I mean, Adam kadmon technically made a comeback lol
Ophanim there is a weird one
SInce thats actually a Cherub's appearance in that design, meanwhile an Ophan's more common name is a Throne, which we do see often in the series
When is H.P Lovecraft's pet cat gonna be in an SMT game?
Maybe he'd transport the enemy to Paris by using his strongest skill.

Ouch.
Thank you

No.
He's not exactly forgotten but I would LOVE to see Dagda appear in SMTV, he's only appeared in Demikids, the P2 trilogy and we can't forget his appearance in Apocalypse, the thing is he's not obtainable in Apocalypse so I really wanna see him with his Apocalypse design as an obtainable demon in the next game, maybe they'll even add him to Dx2
TL;DR: I'm a big Dagda stan and I hope he'll appear in the next game or at the very least, Dx2
Heck yes! And Danu! I really wanted both of them on my first playthrough till i realized i can't have them.
Sorry to disappoint atleast danus in it
I really hope to see Nyarlathotep return
The entire comments section be like ‘BUT ADAM KADMON-‘
Nyarly: please return Camael
Atlus (SMT V): ok 👍
The demons in persona 2 were what got me into mythology in the first place. I just had to make a contract with every one just to get their compendium info
They're adding cherub in smt vengence with a slightly tweaked design so hopefully we might see the other angels too
Cthulhu: exists
Isabeau: I’ve read enough manga to know where *this* is going
I'm really hoping for a remake of SMT I & II now that the west is more invested in the franchise.
Seeing a video from Nyarl in the sub box is a thrill
Im glad your channel is here. I enjoy your review on all of these demons. Keep up the good work.
Hey, at least you got ONE of your wishes, with Adam Cadmon in P5R!!!

Sorry I'm a grammer nazi
@@ultimatedeath316 For a grammar nazi, you seem to make uncharacteristic typos. GrammEr? Seriously?
"Light rays"?? wasnt that supposed to be part of the chair he is sitting on?
@@fervcorsica3358 I believe you are right, those were meant to represent his "wings" in the design, or so I have heard.
Well, I hope you've played SMT V, my dude
Fun fact Rahab was consider a primordial entity god slew before creation. so he could easily have a major story role perhaps even as the main antagonist.
Well there is Loa which is from Voudon ,Voudou, or Voodoo that is only represented as Skull with a snake through it. It is also written as Iwa and there prominent one such as Baron Samedi, Papa Legba, and Erzulie Freda. There also Ogou who might be related to Ogun who appeared as a Persona of one of the main characters from the first Persona game.
Camael, Dagon and Vivian just got their first 3d models in SMTDx2, the gacha game

I did not know about Remiel before Devil Survivor.
i hope SMTV brings back the gaian/messaian conflict, it'd be interesting to see how they'd do it this time
15:00 I mean, Cthulhu only appeared in one of HPL's works. It's fitting he only appeared in two(?) games
I love Alice, favorite death demon. But yeah, she's quite a staple in most of the games.
8:19 Well this aged amazingly well
I mean, the first Fallen Race demon you listed did appear in Persona 5, so hey one is good!
Clearly what I got from this is that I need to play smt 2.
Isn't she in SMT IV?
@@totaldestruction152 She is but you can only get her as a hard to get special fusion.
@@derrickhaggard Ah, i only just now noticed you wrote "Recruitable." Yeah you can only get her through fusion in SMT IV/Apocalypse. Maybe in SMT V she'll be a normal encounter.
I want to see them add more demons based on the grigori, to my knowledge the only ones we’ve seen are samyaza, azazel, and ramiel in devil survivor
Would be nice if the next Persona game had the team's theme revolving around Lovecraftian or Zoroastrian mythology, seeing as how each team from P2 onward had a specific theme (at least in their initial Personas).
Or maybe some more obscure cryptids? They already have Mothman in the series.
@@Cure_Hana I would love to see something like the wendigo into the games
Oh, you'll be at AWA, I'm a volunteer at the oon, so i'll check out your panel and ask a few questions of Persona and SMT related related to greek myths
basically Persona 3 questions if Erebus' childern might get involved.
Kinda surprised that, given the mention of Soul Hackers' Shadow there's no mention in the vid of the whole Rumor Race from that game. Most of them are only in SH from what I know and are both interesting and rather terrifying...except Turbo Granny, she's just hilarious and I like that.
>no Turbo-Granny
For shame. A nice idea for a video, though. Good job.
Couldn't believe they brought back Arioch for SMTV and gave him such importance.
“Adam kadmon could be used in some story way”
*THROW AWAY YOUR MASK PLAYS*
That was epic
I too, enjoy the Demons when it comes to this franchise.
I may be obsessed with Onmyoji style games (pokémon got me started)!
Atlus's recent designs have been getting more and more tame. These older SMT designs are *FIRE* and way better than most Persona designs.
Fun Fact, one of these demons come back in Persona 5 Royal.
Make that two, with Adam Kadmon and Mariah/Virgin Mary
Adam Kadmon is back, except now he's fucking huge and looks like the Anti-Monitor from Crisis on Infinite Earths.
I think Shadow would make an excellent god boss for Persona. Like the controller of all Shadows.
9:21 HE’S BACK IN VENGEANCE
I think one that is REALLY cool is Sedna from Inuit mythology. I don't believe Inuit mythology is in SMT or Persona much at all, so Sedna would be cool to add to more games. I also think she should be stronger, if she is in the game.
At least she's being somewhat recurring in recent memory. It would be cool to get more Native American demons in general aside from maybe Aztec and Mayan since they're the most represented.
Camael is back for SMT V, you've succeeded!
Persona 5 Royal watching this video: "Write that down! write that down!"
I hope smtv's time in development when into the demons and their designs. I can't wait to see them return in HD!
