Why do you insist on treating the Pyramids as burial sites for Egyptians? There has NEVER been found a SINGLE FUNERARY OR BURIAL ITEM IN ONE OF THE GREAT PYRAMIDS MUCH LESS AN ACTUAL COFFIN, OR MUMMY OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT! I find it disturbing that because of a bunch of graffiti left by the usurpers of these amazing structures that science still insists on sticking to a failed narrative!

It must be said that your cogitations are more rational, being based on the real world, and with real world science and engineering behind them. Simple. It is a ground anchor used during the construction of the pyramid. When you haul material up along the most distant side of the pyramid, you can use this as an anchor for a pulley connected to the bedrock. The pulley can be a simple wooden log or other round pole jammed into the slightly larger and wider depression at the end of the downward sloping hallway. Purely functional for engineering. Obviously the now cut structure can be repurposed after its engineering use.
@@salty82ndveteran Really? That sounds depressing if true. Surely some (experimental) desert archaeologist should know this. Their vehicles get stuck in the sand all the time and in middle of desert dune fields they will have/could have used ground anchors to free their car. Plenty of occasions for serendipity. Ground anchors have been around for millennia, they consist of a simple rope partially buried in loose sand (friction anchor) and leave no trace. Only in the case of a pyramid would it be sensible to create a bedrock structure as loose-ground-anchors do shift position after repeated use or too heavy of a load (exceeding total friction-resistance). Here is another thing I noticed. The Queen's chamber has a single large image of a Phoenix spread over two of its walls opposite the niche. This is connected to the lore surrounding the pyramid (I.e. also included in bennu bird lore sensu latu). Apparently it does have "pur-a-mid-dos", fire within the middle of its back(bones), dorsus. Just as the folk stories relate. Visible on tourist images when they use unidirectional light from their camera's (the installed TL light in the chamber must be down as diffuse light makes the image less visible, it must be directional light (i.e. torch or single camera-light, or side-light). It is probably slightly embossed or raised, or left behind by a stain (etching acid such as dipping the wall with vinegar on a rag comes to mind). It is really depressing such information is not made public. It is obvious. The opposite wall has a small dragon above the niche, near the tip of the V-shaped roof. Lots of imagery in the pyramid, and it is not (ancient) graffiti but specific to the culture and lore.
This video makes me think back to the exploration of the shaft videos. I remember that there was a particular section that showed possible signs of being the outside of the original pyramid for a brief moment. Which in my humble opinion that would make a lot of sense related to this topic. If those dug out holes are part of the original smaller structures plans, and were filled in with the new design.
And this is why it will take lifetimes to find out why and how, tiny bits of information come out over time about substructures and hidden portals within the complex, long gone are some of the superstructures through looting, bad "preservation", "repairs", and modifications, they have all destroyed evidence over time along with items relating to the origins. Matt, I appreciate your painstaking research and thorough dedication to bring these little tidbits together with the hope that one day we will find out the truth.
Hi Matt thanks for another great video. I noticed on several of the diagrams you showed such as the one at @3:03 there is a word "Begonnene" which means started/commenced. Maybe this is to indicate it was believed they started the Pyramid but never completed it.
YOU DEFINITELY HAVE THAT NAILED. The great pyramid was definitely smaller at one point in time and a few layers added later. The doorway l think must have been the original outer layer of the pyramid? Then built over in later years, it makes sense or why build a doorway with chevron lintels just to build over it??

Actually both is correct. "Nebenpyramide" means "secondary pyramid" but could also translate to "next to pyramid". In this context, "secondary pyramid" is actually a better translation. For example, a "Nebenfrau" would be a secondary wife, not a wife sitting dirctly next to your (main) wife.

I’ve been watching your videos for years but it’s been awhile since I watched. I’ve just been busy working and learning about my craft. I think I remember you saying the great pyramid has no hieroglyphs but I saw a video of a paraglider almost landing on top and the tops floor was covered.
Kind of random idea, but the way those structures are lined up they look like they could be anchor points for some sort of large winching or block and tackle system
It reminds me of a feature seen in graveyards in Louisiana. They place a body in a mosouleum and allow it to rot away to bones. The bones are then pushed into a chamber on the back end of it and they collect there as a pile of bones, making room for the next body to be placed in the chamber to rot.
I think I came across this while reading the minor pyramids book you mentioned, but never gave it a second thought. Awesome video, I love weird little mysteries like this. One thing though: where you position the pyramid may not be right. You said yourself part of it is under the mastaba corner. Sometimes minor pyramids also had their structure tucked under a corner and not directly under them. For example G3B’s burial chamber is barely under its corner and both ancient robbers and Howard Vyse dug towards the center expecting another room.
It has been proposed that this detail allows the walls of the pyramids to be more resistant to earthquakes. The casing stones would nest more deeply in the middle of the sides creating a more stabile masonry. I'd enjoy it if Matt or his peer on the Granite YT channel would investigate this further.
Good research on the KhafRa wooden structure for his Ka statue effigy. It makes us ponder what precious materials it was made of for the looters to remove it and leave the wood behind. Thanks to the arid climate, the wood has survived for thousands of years.

So what you propose as the explanation for the bedrock excavation makes perfect sense.

Authorities are seeing Gobekli Tepe as a tourist driver, and they have now found 12 sides (a lot more unofficially), so they want to excavate more sites, to create more of a tourist trail. Karahan Tepe excavation area continues to expand, and there are more excavations at Gurcutepe, Sayburc, Harbetsuvan, Kurt Tepe etc. Once upon a time, they only had 1 site to excavate. Now they have 12. So resources are spread out.
I like the ground anchor suggestions. My own thought was maybe an 'apprentice piece" - something to test designs or train masons on but I like ground anchor better.

You made a video explaining how the Pyramid was expanded/ made bigger. I think this relates to that. There was probable somthing there and had to be removed because it was too close to the new larger Pyramid.

First some kind of mastaba for the small underbedrock chamber , second one for the qeen chamber . Clearly they used the grand gallery and the big void to pull the stone more easy and quickly . Considering the new discovery whit the nile passing close to the piramid.
I still am curious about the vertical dimples in the center of each side of the pyramid. It looks almost like additional weight was moved over each face to the top of the pyramid... the weight pressing in the dimple. I have no idea what it indicates but it must be important as all 4 sides have this feature.

Isn’t there a debris field to the north west of the great pyramid? Could there have been tombs and homes that predate the great pyramid which were cleared away to make room for this new plan for the plateau? This permanent modification of the bedrock is the only thing that survived because the builders who came after could only fill the passage way and level whatever original buildings set above the bedrock layer.
In the past the atmosphere and the environment generally looked to be a lot more electrically charged than today. With the electrical field we suspect, being used by the people's of the past. With pointy structures concentrating the negative earth return current through them (my new appendix to Electric Weather Mechanics deals with this in more detail). The earth's present electrical field's differential between the negatively charged earth and the positively charged ionosphere rises by about 100 volts per metre up through the atmosphere, to about 100,000 volts. So the smaller pyramids could even be medical rooms. I built a negative earth current bath into part of my lawn at home, due the land being above a rise point for the old Hackney Brook that used to run through this part of North London in Roman Times. With my and surrounding buildings built on the site of an old Roman Camp.
As an aside: have you looked into the Kiara- hora shaft in Russia? Is it a natural structure? Seems that way to me but a lot is being made about it being an ancient megalithic site.

You’re making the assumption the walls of the pyramid’s interior were not once plastered (lots of evidence says multiple chambers were plastered - now gone), or that thick salt growth on the walls hasn’t destroyed any potential painting (thick salt recorded in the 19th century) or that there are no eyewitnesses of hieroglyphs (Al-Idrisi noted hieroglyphs in the 9th century). These pyramids have been open for centuries and centuries, entered into by probably every single dynasty and ruling people since they were built. The Great Pyramid was the world’s grandest structures for such a long time. What we see today is, I’m sure, not how it looked 4,500 years ago.

Khufus pyramid was a restoration project. The core structure was already in place and in ruin when work started. That's why it only took 20 years. The sphinx enclosure was also originally created during this earlier period
The German word 'neben' means: by, beside(s), next to, alongside. Calling it 'side pyramid' would probably fit best, comparable to 'side-tracked' or 'side chick'.
"nebenpyramide" is a german NOUN, translating to 'secondary pyramid'. "neben" is also the name of rameses' 2nd son. out of context "neben-pyramid" could be interpreted as the name of neben-kharru's pyramid. but history and time suggest otherwise

Isn’t there a debris field to the north west of the great pyramid? Could there have been tombs and homes that predate the great pyramid which were cleared away to make room for this new plan for the plateau? This permanent modification of the bedrock is the only thing that survived because the builders who came after could only fill the passage way and level whatever original buildings set above the bedrock layer.
In the past the atmosphere and the environment generally looked to be a lot more electrically charged than today. With the electrical field we suspect, being used by the people's of the past. With pointy structures concentrating the negative earth return current through them (my new appendix to Electric Weather Mechanics deals with this in more detail). The earth's present electrical field's differential between the negatively charged earth and the positively charged ionosphere rises by about 100 volts per metre up through the atmosphere, to about 100,000 volts. So the smaller pyramids could even be medical rooms. I built a negative earth current bath into part of my lawn at home, due the land being above a rise point for the old Hackney Brook that used to run through this part of North London in Roman Times. With my and surrounding buildings built on the site of an old Roman Camp.

As an aside: have you looked into the Kiara- hora shaft in Russia? Is it a natural structure? Seems that way to me but a lot is being made about it being an ancient megalithic site.
It's odd how archeologists only have 2 building types in their lexicon which are Tomb or Temple. They never used any other building types.

You’re making the assumption the walls of the pyramid’s interior were not once plastered (lots of evidence says multiple chambers were plastered - now gone), or that thick salt growth on the walls hasn’t destroyed any potential painting (thick salt recorded in the 19th century) or that there are no eyewitnesses of hieroglyphs (Al-Idrisi noted hieroglyphs in the 9th century). These pyramids have been open for centuries and centuries, entered into by probably every single dynasty and ruling people since they were built. The Great Pyramid was the world’s grandest structures for such a long time. What we see today is, I’m sure, not how it looked 4,500 years ago.

Khufus pyramid was a restoration project. The core structure was already in place and in ruin when work started. That's why it only took 20 years. The sphinx enclosure was also originally created during this earlier period

"neben" is also the name of rameses' 2nd son. out of context "neben-pyramid" could be interpreted as the name of neben-kharru's pyramid. but history and time suggest otherwise
