- With the rise of performance SUVs, one might think that the hot sedan is on its way out. Nothing could be further from the truth as we still have drivers cars like the BMW M340i, Mercedes AMG C43, and Audi RS3 Sedan. We found ourselves at a racetrack with the latter two and decided to see who will reign supreme.

Doesn't make sense. Just saw a video from AutoTopNL and the new C43 is like 2-3 seconds slower on the 100-200 kmh than the M340i, let alone the 0-100kmh.
What's the use of having so many cameras, even a drone and not record the actual drag race??? You guys should watch more Carwow videos and how they take us through the whole drag race, cumon now it's a terrible video

Yeah, though a big part of the price comes from the fact that the rand is extremely weak atm (I'm not defending Merc, I actually quite dislike them)
F1 tech means much more than that to me.

@@schmeesmclaren1570 warranty will run up eventually, drive the car stock until the warranty is done and then download horsepower from your phone.

I ve raced both cars and had a c43 the m340is noticeably quicker in acceleration.3 tenths for sure in quarter mile run.

I currently have a 2019 C43 LCI with AMG PE….love this car. Alas it goes back in October. So what did I order as my next car? 2024 M440i XDrive Gran Coupe. The M440 is even more rapacious than my 2019 C43….the 2023 C43….just not as good as my 2019 or the M440i. Just isn’t.
Merc has just messed up the C class esp c63 and c43 they now 4 pot and electric power, poor build quality, poor dynamics., not pure ICE but hydrids..they better do a recall and replace those 4pots otherwise face the dwindling sales,V6 would have been better or 3liter just like how audi and Bmw sticking to their core...will dearly miss the sounding of the V8 C63 , the previous models are the ones will be in demand...Thanks for the great video, keep them rolling

I’ve heard many complaints about Mercedes cheap interior plastic disease whereas BMW still stick to solidity and real leather
BMW has always had solid interior quality compared to benz, always, both my brother and i own a benz and BMW from 2006 even though we both have the newer models with me owning the obvious 340i, my 2006 325i and my 2007 130i are in pristine condition with only the steering wheel showing acute signs of wear, but the seats and general interior is bang-on, no squeaks, nothing, signs of slight wear on the drivers seat, the benz on the other hand has been redressed with new leather😂

Even as a merc fan boy i dont believe the new c43 would win… they shouldve kept the V6 in the c43 or switched it to the I6 in the E53 i drive a c300 and would not upgrade to the new C43 i am upgrading to the C43 with 6 cylinders
There was no way the new C43 world keep the V6 after it was confirmed that the C63 was dropping the V8.
They'd never let the little guy outgunned the flagship.
I just switched from my c300 to a 2017 c43… very much worth the switch, I love it
Ive got a c300 and im still debating with myself, do i go for the 340 or 43😩.
Its hard justifying the 'upgrade' for another 4cyl, i reaaaallly want that 3.0 sound.
Might have to go BMW, although i did wanna play with the switches on the merc steering wheel😂

The CLE will have the inline 6 for the 450, 53, and 63.

I'm asking myself how did the M340 beat the C43 when at some point the Merc passed the BM on 1 of their drag races. Am I the only one who saw that?
I think it's probably cos the BMW puts power down better and the Beemer driver's reaction times off the line. The merc will probably do better in the correct hands.

BMW massively underrated their engines, the scary thing is this isn’t even the newest generation of the B58, this is only Gen 2. Gen 3 is currently available in the new 5/x5/x6 and 7/x7 cars and it’s made a huge improvement over over the already great Gen1 and Gen 2.

not really a drag race you can watch and get any pleasure from due to how it has been filmed and edited, so camera at end of trace ot see who won, no times - definately not carwwow - bit rubbish when compaired to the standard of other drag racing online.

It’s well established now that the M340i outperforms anything in its class. As a matter of fact it tends to be closer in performance to actual performance models like the RS4

@@justicetheartist6386 indeed I didn’t pay attention to the version but it doesn’t really matter because the new one is slower than the previous one. In general overtuned 4 cylinders don’t fare well compared to 6 cylinders (especially at high speeds) so I’m not surprised. It’s a good setup to pass emission regulations, less so to get actual performance. And their shitty drag race definitely doesn’t prove anything

I was in the market for a new car over the last few months and I went into my test drive of the m340 with really high hopes and it honestly disappointed me so much. All of these journalists keep touting it as the greatest car created and it just felt soul-less as I was driving. Was it extremely precise with fantastic power and a transmission so buttery smooth I couldn't tell whether it was shifting up or down? yes. But it lacked character and that's why despite the smaller 2.0 in the c43, that was my choice. Notable mention for anyone else in the market though: Genesis G70 was absolutely spectacular to drive
100%. The M340 is fast but driving it felt clinical.. I bought a G70.

Hmmm I’m not sure about it , I’ve raced few c43s on highways and they were not even close to closing the gap on the m340 , so I don’t know about their race on this video but it looks like that m340 is not driving to its full potential because it’s a way faster car.
