4:29 Right when you think the view from the top of Sherwin Grade looking down into Owens Valley was stunning enough, you come across the viewpoint near the top of Conway Summit, and the view of the Mono Lake Basin gets even better. It's why eastern Sierra is my favorite place in all of CA. That + it's relatively unpopulated most of the way; but the geography, geology, and climate is like nothing you'll experience in the lowlands. As much as I enjoy the CA coastline, the rugged eastern Sierra is even better in my estimation.
13:00 My wife (now "ex") and I stopped at the Jolly Kone for lunch, back in the late 90's. I don't know if it had the same name then. We even ate at one of the picnic tables shown in your video. We also got hit with the most expensive gas prices in the state ($2.09 at the time). I shudder to think what they are now.
Moved away from CA long ago and miss my yearly fishing trips up 395 from the Bishop area (Lake Sabrina) all the way up to Bridgeport (Twin Lakes). Appreciate being able to see it again - well done, Kyle!
Great video, Kyle! Looks like there's a LOT more water in Mono Lake than when I was there in 2020 doing Census work. The view from Conway Summit is very impressive, and it's worth taking a few minutes to stop and have a look out over Mono Lake and beyond. Your videos from Hwy. 14 up to Bridgeport have brought back some memories of that trip, all of them good.
I haven't been this way in *years* , not since I lived in SLT. One of the best parts of this drive is that it's basically the back way to Yosemite coming from Tahoe (if you're driving it southbound); I loved driving Tioga Pass in the summer.. Did you ever film Woodfords to US395 (89 thru Markleeville over Monitor Pass)? That's another nice drive. (Popular with motorcycles and sports cars in the summer so keep your eyes open.)

It's here that US 395 narrows to a 2-lane road & remains so ti lit nears Carson City. Loving the do-over of this series.

Always thought it was weird for a town that's nowhere near the ocean or any navigable waterways to be called Bridgeport
Thanks Kyle,
