- This 1974 Chevrolet promotional film, titled " Selling Interiors and Options ", was sent to the Chevrolet car dealerships to be used as an in-house Sales and customer training film. The film highlights technical aspects and features of the new model year. Models shown include Caprice, Impala, Monte Carlo, Chevelle, Malibu , Laguna S3, LT Camaro, Nova, and Vega. Accessories and Options Highlighted include Air Conditioning, Power Brakes, Power door locks, Vinal Roofs, Automatic Transmissions, Sterio Systems with 8 track players, Positraction, Sky Roofs, Rally Wheels, and Roof Racks. If you look up a different film I posted, titled "1974 Chevy Selling Monte Carlo ", you can see a rare glimpse of the film cartridge viewer that was used at the dealership where the customers and personnel were to view these films. The machine was made by Technicolor and called the " Chevrolet Mini Theater System "
This film came from my personal collection. This film was not downloaded from any website and is not reused content. This restoration is my work. The restoration process started with removing the super8 film from the Technicolor Cartridge. After removal the film was cleaned, repaired, and spooled onto a standard film reel. Next the scanning to digital process was performed on the Lasergraphics Scanstation motion picture film scanner in 2k resolution. Excess film grain noise was removed and the images upscaled to 4k resolution utilizing Topaz AI software. Then extensive color correction was performed in Davinci Resolve. Finally, the film was downscaled back to 2k for uploading to UA-cam.
The era of the comfortable automobile. Sure miss them.
I surely remember those great cloth/velour seats on our 73 Caprice coupe. The interior was really done nicely, looked great without being gaudy/tacky. Sometimes, simpler is better. The money spent on the seat material and design along with the nice door panels made all the difference.
The Medium Red paint on the 1974 Caprice Classic is gorgeous. As a 10 year old at the time, that year had an elegant front design.
paint was important
@@theemulsionalchemist5688 Why are silver and gray so popular now?
@@SpockvsMcCoy I live in Stockton California. Silver and Black is the Rader's colors. I live 7 minutes from the airport and every Sunday during football season Alegent airlines has the Rader planes flying everyone to Vegas for the games
@@theemulsionalchemist5688 Not a 49ers fan? LOL
American cars from this era are so gorgeous to look at!! Real effort was made in the design, they were totally unique in the world. Nowadays its all European inspired, boring, small, and a tight sporty ride. Bring this level of luxury back please!!!!
Mom had a '74 Monte Carlo Landau, purchased at Burnham Chevrolet in Liberty Tx.
nice, I bet you wish you still had it. not many of these are left
Remember this actor from old Dragnet episodes....
let me know his name. thanks
@@theemulsionalchemist5688 name is Anthony Eisley. Was in several, but remember him in Dragnet 1969, season 3 episode 17. Played a crooked vice cop.
Guess he went to selling cars after he got canned from the LAPD. It would be awkward if Joe Friday showed up on the lot to buy a car
@@stealthfighter2923 lol...well said!
The lapels on his suit are huge but typical for the era. He would have been considered a good-looking, well-dressed gentleman.
8:40 He talking about radial tires, but the tire in frame looks like a bias ply. The radial tire would have likely been the Firestone 500, well known for failure in summer time. The 721 was the tire to replace it. 7 strands around, 2 strand, wrapped by 1.
If you're paying attention, that Caprice had stereo radio speakers in the front of the dash, but no speakers in the back, but it had an AM radio
So not sure where you see the Caprice with no rear speakers. The only way to get dual front speakers was the optional
4 speaker radio, which was an AM/FM stereo, then would step up to a tape player option.
Great video
In Canada, the Biscayne was still avalabile.
Looooooooove this!!!!!
glad to hear you enjoyed the film. I have over 100 more GM films still to scan
I’m sold, where do I buy?
This is supposed to be an interior promotional film.
Notice the crooked power doorlock and window buttons! 🥺

These were the first vehicles off the assembly line. With the system that Chevy used to show these, most people would not have noticed. The "Selling Series" was not meant to be viewed by customers. Sales training film.
@@theemulsionalchemist5688 👍
Beat me to it! I saw that too!
AND THE NOISE THE WINDOWS AND LOCKS WOULD HAVE MADE. CHA-CHUNKKKK. BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZGRINDDDDD.
Vegas still had Power Glide.
😍
From a time when Chevrolet was in their heyday and GM sold more cars than any other automaker.
glad you enjoyed the film
In 1974 full size and mid size had fade prone brakes, when hot pedal pressure rising sharply, (CONUMER GUIDE).
Was the Corvette a separate film? Wouldn't the salesperson watching this also be selling a Corvette? I didn't catch him mentioning the Nova.
Yes, they made more films. Selling corvette and selling sport lines that included nova. You will find these on my channel
In 2025, all cars and trucks have power windows and power door locks.
And to start your 1974 Chevrolet...you will need to buckle your seatbelt first.
They were nice cars, the only drag is they had so many air pollution devices to clean up a carburated engine. The sad part was they cut into power, the added weight of bumper standards ,not to mention the smallest V-8 available was a 350,most owners of fullsise cars were lucky to average 12 miles to the gallon, and the Arab fuel crisis was just around the corner, adversely affecting people's opinion of eight cylinder fullsize cars.
A red Caprice with optional AC, vinyl roof, stereo tape radio, power locks, windows, driver's seat and a tacky manually adjustable driver side mirror.🤣
almost everything was an option
yes back then you could likely find your car on the lot or order it, built to spec. Likely a 4 to 6 week wait. Shame it is so hard to "order" a car today.
1:42. Show your prospect how poorly the interior is put together.. note the horrible pannel mismatching switchings and glove box that crooked..
the 1970's was not known for interior quality
DOOR CARPET ALREADY PEELING OFF THE CORNER TOO
😢😮😢
All those "options" are now standards on cars. Even the cheap cars
I will take a 1974 Midnight Blue Metallic with Black Cloth Interior Impala Sport Coupe with a 454 Big Block V8 with a 4 Barrel Carburetor, dual exhausts, F41 Sport Suspension, and the AM/FM/8-Track Tape Stereo System to play My Montrose & Sammy Hagar 8-Tracks On It, Please & Thank You Very Much! 😁😍
Rubber plug for oil sucked, it came out all right, try putting it back in.
After about 3 years in the sun these interiors were dried out and really ugly.
Every time I watch one of these vids I have just boofed something wtf brah
spread the wealth
Boof some Xanax or coke for me homie
NO DONK EDITIONS YET... OR SWANGAS/ELBOWS
