↓ LYRICS ↓
The one good thing in my life
Has gone away, I don't know why
She's gone away, I don't know where
Somewhere I cannot follow her
The one good thing didn't stay too long
My back was turned and she was gone
Good thing
Where have you gone?
My good thing
You've been gone too long
People say I should forget
There's plenty more, don't get upset
People say she's doing fine
Mutual friends I see sometime
That's not what I want to hear
I want to hear she wants me near
Good thing
Where have you gone?
My good thing
You've been gone too long
Good thing
Then one day, she came back
I was so happy that I didn't ask
Morning came into my room
Caught me dreaming like a fool
Good thing, my good thing
My good thing, where have you gone
My good thing, my good thing
Where have you gone
It's been so long
Good God, girl
Good God, girl
Good God, girl
Good God

Who is listening to this in 2024?
ME!!!!❤❤❤
Me!!!😊
This guy!
Me me me!!! Love this then and now!!!
Austin Texas
I was 15 in 1980 so had my best teenage years during the 80s. Strange thing is that I appreciate eighties music more now that I did back then. Wonder if anyone feels the same...
You’re totally 👍 right. I feel the same!
I do, I found music a bit kitch back then, I was more into alternative stuff.
I can sign what you say.
Absolutely! I am 59 now as well. We are now old enough to appreciate and know how difficult it is to compose music that stands the test of time.
I do. I miss those years...
What a great tune. Quintessentially British, with that 60's soul swing. Love the scooter crew theme in the video too.
Well, the soul swing smacks of the 60's but since the song was released in the 80's that's the decade I personally associate the song with (and a GLORIOUS decade it was to live through, especially as a teenager or twenty-something).
Mods vs Rockers. From film about Profumo scandal
When musicians played instruments, told a story & held a beat. Today we have mud.
.......tiger feet.....
no auto-tune
Agreed. Mud are still going with original members Ray Stiles and Rob Davis as well as guitarist Keith Read and drummer Pete Phipps. RIP Les Gray and Dave Mount.
My name is mud is a song by Primus. ... just an fyi
Well, there is still good music being recorded and released but it certainly seems to be on the scant side.
The piano player is on fire!
I agree and I would add the whole song is top notch .
Jools Holland playing piano on this track.
So much so he had to take a short break!
1:50 piano parts is unreal. Great song. Lived through the best decades of music. Thank you God
Great piano part by Jools Holland :)
Aside from being a great song, this video implanted a love of Vespa scooters in me as a 10 year old kid in the Midwest USA. I don't think I'd ever seen one before. Im still riding my Vespas 36 years later. Thanks to FYC!
Yes! That's cool as heck!
They don't make music like this anymore..glad I grow up in the 80'
This song is a "MASTER PIECE"...💯💯💯
True...timeless music
And just like that, I’m 16 again! Brilliant!
One of the best bands in of the 80s ❤🎉❤

I do. It doesn't sound good
I mean "she got me crazy" is great, but this sounds a little retarded
Is he sick or somthn?
This song has never gotten the recognition it deserves as one of the greatest songs ever made.
Such a fuckin jam. Surprised I haven't gotten into an accident when I'm driving and this comes on the radio.
Damn straight!
Great band ,great tune, superb vid !!!
Scooterboys and FYC !!!

Fine Young Cannibals were underrated. These guys are awesome . Music still holding up strong even now .
Dudley i agree with you ,, i reckon they were the ultimate in being the best band
underrated? they sounded pretty hard in Mexico at their time!
Sure sure sure
@@JSHRXaos_Realm Exactly, they were def not underrated as far as I can remember! :D
AGREED
Who's still listening to this in 2024? This song isn't going anywhere. It transcends time.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
💯
And space, I'm waaaay far from Birmingham...
Great 😊 music 🎼 is forever ♾️
Rhythm of the 60s, sounds of the 80s and the legendary timeless Vespa. A perfect mix. It's a pity that FYC disbanded.
Let's get one thing straight. A good tune is a good tune. Doesn't matter if it was today, yesterday , or 30 years ago.
Yeah but the problem is finding one today that you'll still listen to in the next 20+ years
You got that right!!😍😍🎄🎄✝️⚜️

it's a complete ripp off of TAINTED LOVE....listen to the original. JS

At 72, I still can groove with these guys!! What a great group....keep 'em alive people~

It’s groovin Motown .

That Look ..Them Looks..No Man Comes Close..in Beauty..🦋🌹
Amen!
One of the greatest albums ever made. 10 songs and 35 minutes of flawless music. The creativity on this album is still breathtaking.
Yep!
Has this song been a show theme? Because it sounds like one.
Great thing in that case 😍

Where's the comment I just left? Gushing all about Roland Gift's voice and moves. Anyone else listening in 2024?🥰😍🥰😍
ME!!!
You made my day! 😀 @@Ztereoboy
Here !!
Obvious star power, alas.
yoooooooooooooooooooooooo
My mum was going shopping in the 90s with my little sister in her pushchair and she was sat opposite roland gift on the train to hull. And later on in the 90s he went into a pub in the village where I lived and I had a drink with him amongst locals and he signed a bunch of records for the dj in the pub in north ferriby in the duke of Cumberland 😊
The unique voice of Roland Gift you love it or hate it, I love it.
Hello Angela how are you doing?
His voice is a gift after all.
Used to hate it - but it has grown on me by a good margin. Love this song.
These guys are timeless. I wish they'd done more.
Fine Young Cannibals definitely did a Good Thing with this....
John 15:4-11
"4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full."
*slow clapping*
One of the most underrated bands of all time
👍
@@martinleavitt6094 Nope, I was there and they were HUGE!
You need a flogging
What is overrated is people making "underrated" comments just for clicks.
This band sold millions of records and were very popular in the 80's
All you haters out there... Nope! I said what I said!
I will be listening to them until I can't ! Burned up many dance floors, dancing to their music💙🎶🎵🎶🎵
And I, for one, am very glad to hear it!
Absolutely classic for all ages..Roland extremely underrated singer of his times
Satianath Parayath He is a great actor too. I loved him when he was on highlander.😁

Me twoooooooo
God I miss the 80s
Dang me too I am gonna turn 66😿
This probably didn't really hit until 90 but point taken
A 44-year-old oldie loving this now just as much as when it first came out. When pop was simple and inventive. If you've got musical training you'd know this is also a very tricky time signature too. Absolute gem.
A Good Thing! 😎✌❤🎶
Hello Mia how are you doing
This is such a great song! It’s 2024 and it’s on my playlist!
Can't believe I thought this was INXS
It's 2023 so I exclusively listen to music made in the year 2023. And next year I shall only listen to music made in 2024. That's how music works right?
Who needs therapy? Just listen to this

I saw the band live in 1985, MusicHall, Frankfurt/Germany. Unmatched stage presence, for sure!

ME, SO GOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!
I ❤ this song and I surprised that as great as this gentleman's voice was and with his talented band backing him. That the Fine Young Cannibals were/aren't more successful then they were/are.
Wish they made more music. The two albums were absolute bangers
One of the most unique voices I've ever heard! Love Fine Young Cannibals! ❤
It's been my favorite band since I was a teen now 46 and still is
Nice stolen comment bundle of sticks!
Roland Gift is awesome good!
its absolutely essential that young minds of today understand that you don't need obscenity and vulgar lyrics to have great music that makes you want to dance and have a great time
This is music the best music had ever produced comes out of that era
This tune is SO motown. I like every hit this band had.
I love how the instrumentation is simple on this but sounds so amazing. The bass line with the piano along with some great vocals make this song perfect
I agree☆
Agreed, have played this song in a band many times. However, as a piano player I just love the piano solo licks. So cool.
The unique voice really sits in the mix so well. His voice is so original and he sings his notes with great passion . It seems like it wouldn't be a good fit but frankly its
perfect.
Jools Holland happened into the recording studio and have the piano solo
There are certain 80’s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them.
Agreed.
Same:(
CLAP CLAP SNAP
Damned right...we never knew how good we had it.
I just got that from watching “She drives me crazy”
This song is 35 years old. It is timeless. Sounds like Northern soul but also modern. Great band
The start is basically Tainted Love by Gloria Jones so very Northern Soul indeed.
@@drdavecolly-- Gloria Jones' Tainted Love is from 1964. This first appeared in a movie that was set around that time (Tin Men)...hence the retro sound.
People forget it was originally recorded in late 1986 for Tin Men, where FYC is the house band for the movie.
Best band of 1989
The piano in this song 😍 Still here in 2020!! The 80’s were the best!!

This is their best song. The other overplayed mainstream song ain't close.
Johnny Come Home closely followed by Suspicious minds are their best 2.

Timeless music is what the 80's produced and it was the best music of our lives. Who's behind me?
nobody because you're not gay and you're lonely.
Dustin Geard It's not true no matter what you are told.
@@lolwtnick4362 fuck you bitch
Yeah 80's mainstream music far better than what is popular now.
Could have bet my house this song was from the early 2000s. Was shocked to find out its from the 80s. Sounds so modern.
Listen to "Johnny Come Home." It was the first FYC song I heard. It is outrageously good!
This song is so great, it will be listened to 1000 years later still 🥰

Right on Frenchie!
Il faudrait qu'elle apparaisse dans une série . Elle ressemble beaucoup à la chanson everybody need somebody
This video is definitely a 'Good Thing' and not just the song!.
In about 1990, was out on the softball field with my buddies. Two vehicles backed into parking spots with trunks open and the radios blasting our favorite local FM. Good Thing came on and everyone dropped their bats and gloves, and the Groove Dance was on!! I'm sure that we looked like idiots out there, but no one quit dancing till the song had played. (Good O' Days)
This is 4 ever...🎉
I know this song through my Grandad, he's 80 and said it's one of his favourite songs. I'm 24 and I love it too, music was so much better back then!

Me, I’m still listening it, ‘ cause good music NEVER, goes away and this is an example 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏, thanks 🙏 for pointing this Masterpiece ❤️🗽🇨🇺🇺🇸
When I was younger I would never listen to this kind of music but due to the lack of good music I would say without a doubt compared to today's music this is a genuine masterpiece
I am nearly 60. I am gladly listening to the tunes of the 1980,'s when I was a teenager, as you rightly say, there is a lack of good music, but the 1980's lives forever, just like the 1960's.
