This was one of my favorite songs when i was really young, like 8-10 years old. I remember listening to it on the radio while my dad was driving. When i was 12 i lost my dad to cancer and after that i completely forgot about this song. One day, around a year ago, i randomly heard it on a sidemen video and i almost freaked out. I managed to find the name, since i never actually knew how it was called, and i burst into tears because i instantly remembered those times when my dad was driving and this song was playing on the radio. Back when my life was pretty much perfect and my dad was still here with me. Now i'm 21, it's been almost 9 god damn years since i lost him, but songs like this help bring back many good memories.

@@candieland4276 brother great effort to shut down the English explanation of Greek mythology like music is poetry rythem spoken word similar words that have no meaning in the context that is being used. It's fucking brilliant however really he has penned a hit . Who cares about the fact he owns a thesaurus in Greek. Eminem is a lyrical genius. Look at . Stan . Congratulations Edwyn Collins, you sir have made one of the greatest songs ever, a song that will transcend time itself. We will hear this song in movies for the rest of eternity.
Was this his only super hit? Is he still active?
@@whojanson6751 I seem to recall he had a really bad stroke. Until this song he was best known for being in the band Orange Juice and their singke 'Rip It Up' which is another doozie.
@@mj-gb6tr Oh, I see. Thanks for info!
@@mj-gb6tr whats a singke? Oh single... yeah... .. ...
Ted Lasso..Season 2
This was a hit on alternative radio formats in the US as well as top 40. I Remember hearing it a lot in 1995. To me it's one of the best singles of the 90s
🩶
This song needed to be in a Tarantino's movie
Please no. Leave these songs alone😂
@@Leo-qe3gltotally agree! It's definitely got Tarantino unsettling Vibes in a sexy weird way LOL hard core go-go dancing as well! The lead guitarist is phenomenal
Let’s all dream that dark dream. Barnabas Collins anyone?😂
Totally !!!
That and the video is perfect super perfect that was an awesome comment because it makes so much sense and you are f****** right
I love that psychedelic mysterious aura of the song. And his voice has that ELECTRIC Billy Idol/David Bowie tone to it! 💙💚💛🧡❤️
Man i love guitar riff of this song. Edwyn Collins is a genius.
He is so underrated! I mean, who can hook words in a song like he can? I've been mesmerized by this song since a teen, now 41. If I need a theme song, this is it!
He survived two cerebal haemorrhages.
in the old days as a child the only way i could listen to this was a small 30 second snippet they had on charlies angels movie
thank fuck for illegal downloading and youtube
I just wonder, why it hasn't been on Quentin Tarrantino movies, but probably because Charlie Angels had "taken" it first..
the song samples the 1965 song "1-2-3".
For years the memory of this song has been in my head. I remembered the guitar and silhouettes in the video but nothing else which meant I could never find it on UA-cam.
Today I heard it in the supermarket and rediscovered it at last!
Have you ever forgotten a great old song like this one ☝️ and then by a pure coincidence hear it again.
It’s like rediscovering a precious, and lost treasure. Such an incredible and timeless song!!! 🎸 🎶 🎙️ 2024
Yes! Hearing it in Decameron rekindled my love for it full force!
Omg, I freaking love this song. It's eternally funky and awesome!
60s vibe
This is my husband's song when we met.. now 35 years strong and it's still his favorite song
Probably the best song ever - awesome distorted guitar, haunting vocals, ghostly drum beat and great timeless psychedellic 60s vibe.
I love the 60s vibe of this song
Spot on mate with your views of it immense piece
Drum sample from Len Barry's "1-2-3" - song
Not just 60's, pure Northern Soul backing to Edwyn's phase guitar
Good description
This song is just criminally good
Absolutely love this classic. Love the heavy hit of the drums and that distorted dirty guitar sound make it an awesome song. Edwyns vocals are just brilliant. One of my all time faves
This song is timeless, even after almost 30 years.
omg for me that's seriously yesterday, lol
Why can't I stop listening to this song?
I was listening to radio when I was 10 years old and this song came up, I searched everywhere but I couldn't know the name, now YEARS AFTER I was in a bar and they put this song, and finally thanks to the new technology I could know it's name, I'm so happy ❤
Since i have heard this on The Crown, i have fallen in love with this song.
Just heard this on a re-run of Lucifer. Love it as much today as the first day I heard heard it.
I also heard from the Crown and had completely forgotten about this song. I always thought it was David Bowie. Great song!
@@drumboogie2555 Likewise, on all counts - 1) heard it on the Crown credits tonight, 2) had forgotten all about it and 3) thought it might be Bowie - has that "China Girl" woof to it. Oh, yeah, and 4) GREAT SONG!
Hell if you liked it on the crown you’ll love it on the movie Empire Records
WHO remembers back in the day of MTV, when if you wanted to hear a song and see the video, you had to sit there ALL day watching MTV just to see it
i still have this video on VHS from MTV's european top 20!
Exactly. And you won't get tired of waiting since all the videos and songs back then were all masterpieces and hits.
Or if u didn't hav cable and had to front like you'd seen it?!
Or tape it off the radio.
So much Bowie.
If she doesn't make your soul feel like this then she ain't the one ❤️
That is an excellent point.
Absolutely love your comment!!! 😍😍😍
AMEN!!!!
This song channels the best of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
bro this song is 90's xD
@@LP00151987That’s true, but it (meaning the song) sounds nothing like a song from the 1990s!
Edwyn you deserve more hits
More hits?
They don’t make music like this anymore. This song is awesome 🔥
They do
This was the best of the late 90s
Mid 90s.. my bad.
I found a female version of the song- by Dave Cameron- Girl like me today, still prefer the funky side by Collins
They've never made music like this. This is a rare one of a kind.
This song will never get old.
It got old
@@unicornunicorn3249 It came out almost 30 years ago and people are still listening to it on all the streaming platforms, and not only that, artists all over the world are still covering it. What an accomplishment, to be able to write such an iconic song that so many people love.
Right on! Because it's reminiscent of the sexy sixties, norty nineties :)
Yes it will get old...But like fine wine it improves with age...😉
I thought it was way older actually it says 1994 i thought it was from the 60s or 70s
could come out today and it would still sound as fresh as the day it was released. i love this
This song, performance is just just off the chain, it s always been beyond awesome!!! NEEDS a LOVE button 💘
Love the sound of his guitar 🎸 😍 ❤ and voice
The most James Bond song that has never been in a James Bond movie.
Yes Yes yes😍
Bonjour merci beaucoup je suis ravie de pouvoir écouter ce succès desannees 80.musiquegeniale. merci beaucoup très bon moment et souvenir. Bonne journée.
It was in Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle
Nope. it is on second place 007 Inside by Lara George takes the top spot.

The ROAR of the engine! Always makes me happy!
I have always loved and will always love this song. It doesn’t get old and I can play it over and over again, it’s just brilliant.
When this song comes on my car radio, I can’t turn it up loud enough. I’m 76 years old and the woman I live with thinks I’m crazy. I love her but she has absolutely no taste in music. Makes me feel like I’m 35 again. Awesome song and instrumentals. I edited my post to say I just got done re-playing this song about 10 times in a row. Maybe I am crazy.
No man, You are a evergreen man with very good taste in music.
@@alihasan6812 Thank you my friend.
Im turning 23 this year love the fact despite out age difference we both enjoy good music 🙌
@@Ghost-ec8wi I agree my friend. Stay safe.
Nope - you’re alive! Dance!
Heard this at the mall. Had to shazam it instantly. What a fkn masterpiece.
If you've been rocking this one for decades raise your hands 🖐️👍✌️
This song is still out. First heard in the 90s and it's still brilliant. Loved it then I love it now. Never ages
Absolute perfection...a brilliant, crazy cool vibe that works in any decade!
Im 21 too. Also, life be like that sometimes.
I'm 21 too. I heard this from a Charlie's Angles movie.
Thanks for sharing that memory!
Respect

I remember this song playing at a party when I was in college at a party in KSU. Some dude and I were convinced it was Bowie.
Awesome tune. Those were awesome times.
The Crown: Season 5 will bring more people here.
Just watch.
One of the best songs of the 90s. Can't change my mind.
Nice 90 's Song.
I always thought this was a Bowie jam. Glad I was able to finally find actual artist. Now I can play it whenever I like. Great song. Fun vid.
everyone thinks he sounds like david bowie ahah it's funny :)
@QuietLittleTwo I'm surprised he wasn't more popular with a voice like that. Guess life is a wee bit of luck too. 🙃
I thought the very same thing. Maybe not quite the right luck, connections, look, or who-knows-what. Great voice tho. Shame really he didn't have more success.
What a song... absolute masterpiece 🎵 ❤️👌🎶
This is literally the only song that i know of that keeps getting better the older it gets. Put this on the radio in any decade from the 60s to 2023 and it is top 10 guaranteed ❤

Will always remember this song as the set up to the big showdown in Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle, and the finish on the final note with the metal door slamming shut 🔥
Same!!
Demi Moore never looked hotter than that 😍
Yeah bro
The way this song does not physically describe the girl but just alludes to a raw feeling really makes it stand out. It just leaves the listener to the imagination of their dream girl/wife while emotion just takes over them, since everybody’s dream girl is different.
