    The hardest is choosing between two very different careers that each requires its own qualification. I don't mind going back to college but I want to make sure that I choose the right one. There's simply no intersections between them. It's either A or B, which is really hard!

    Thank you for compiling this great list! In my case, I am trying to choose between two (very different) positions within my company and staying in my current role. Based on my thinking about #1, it's very clear now that one is a "once in a lifetime opportunity"; for #2, that I can go back and do the other roles in the future if things don't work out; and #4, I'd regret more not taking this unique opportunity.

    Ah finally. A video that considers that maybe I like 2 different things that pay about the same
    I work as a graphic designer. It's fine but it's not what I wanted and a job I got to have a job. The two careers I'm considering for my next steps are motion design (like video advertising stuff. Graphic design that moves.) Or storyboard art (it's a job in animation). They both pay in the 60-100k range depending on experience and the studio you're at. Both work remote or in LA. Are both jobs I love but require different creative skills. I need to work on those skills and build a portfolio (visual resume) but it's a question of which one should I buckle down and try to get better at? My solution right now is both because I can't decide, but I worry that if I work on being okay at both, I won't get a chance to get good at either. But if I pick one and save the other for later, I'll have to take a pay cut at some point in my life and start ALL OVER with trying to learn a new set of skills (it's very discouraging. I only have the strength to do this while I'm young and fresh).
    Still haven't decided but I've watched your video twice. I'll give it a third view and really give my situation some thought.

    I just graduated from Civil engineering and I am to take the board exam next year due to some circumstances. But I was suddenly intrigued at Data Science and started self-studying for it, and I am quite liking it.
    This lead me to this video to help me decide which should I focus on now. If I go for Data science and pay for some courses for better mastery and credibility, I would feel like I'm wasting my years of study at Civil Eng. And if I focus on Civil engineering, I might regret in the future that I did not go for an I.T job/subject which is I think is in-demand now.

      Could you do both, maybe not at once, but staggered. Start one first for a few years to get settled, then start a second career. Also, is there an intersection between the two?

    Hey everyone, I'm 18 years old and I'm in my first year of university, studying Culture and Communication. My goal was to finish my studies and go on to be a photojournalist, because I love photography and I'm passionate about various world problems. The problem is that I've always loved illustration and drawing. Since I was a kid until now one of the things that makes me happier is drawing! I never took it in consideration as a career because I've always been told the typical saying "There's no jobs in art'. So now I'm thinking maybe I should have gone and studied graphic design. But I can decide if I want to be a photojournalist or a designer and illustrator because I love both, even though I think I would enjoy a lot more studying design.
    If someone can give me any advice I would really appreciate it !!

    • @MultipleCareers

      There are jobs in art. The dilemma faced by artists however, is that when they work on artistic things for a company or for a client, they are seldom able to express their full creativity, as the first priority is to satisfy the client. If they are willing to do that, then there are certainly many jobs for artists, graphic designers, etc. But artists who want to fully pursue their own creativity and not be limited, have a much steeper path. They will need to create their own job instead of looking for an existing job. That can be a very fulfilling and rewarding , but it comes with much more challenges and risk, and you'll need a lot of patience and perseverance.
      There are several ways to do this, here are 2 possibilities, and these can also be combined.
      If you are still very young, you can go all in and pursue what you really want and take the risk, e.g. work freelance in the gig economy (financial risk, opportunity costs). If it doesn't work, take this as a learning experience. As plan B, you can always go back to work for a company in which case you need to work yourself up again (the risk) or start at a relatively more junior place than you would've been had you worked for a company from the beginning.
      The other path that few people consider is, to hustle at a well-paying job for 5 years or so until you reach partial financial freedom (enough money/assets to generate income that covers 1/3 or 1/2 of your expenses). Then use geo-arbitrage (live in a country with low living costs while still making some income from a high-wage country) and pursue what you want.
      In summary, you can do it all in the end, just not at the same time. Strategize carefully, plan well and review your steps carefully so you can make the best out of it.

    Before i start your video: I started a business that did well until I made a mistake and someone took advantage of me. Then I got scared and let it fizzle, and by now (4 years later) I don't really want it back. Now I'm deciding whether to rejoin a previous career industry (fashion) or to follow what I love studying - astrology. I've been afraid to be seen/myself for so long. Using Astrology to help people (and maybe even become an astro-therapist someday) sounds very rewarding. Fashion sounds safer. I'm off to watch your thoughts. 👍

    I have 2 online business ideas and I'm so unable to decide between the 2. The first is postnatal fitness and nutrition coaching: I have 3 children, passion for eating healthy and working out for about 10 years now and a lot of certification. However I never had clients before, only my personal experience and im 37 so i feel like i might be to late (?). i just had my 3rd baby 4 months ago. Option B is influencer marketing coach: I have marketing background (BA degree and some experience but not with influencers), and I'm working with an influencer as a beta client. But I have to learn about this specific field. I'm passionate about everything business and marketing but also nutrition so it seems like an impossible decision to me.i tried to write a list with pro and cons, but I'm going back and forth between these 2 for years now (I should've just pick one and go with it but I'm overthinking it obviously)

    • @MultipleCareers
      @MultipleCareers  2 роки тому +1

      About feeling it's too late for 1., I think that your age and personal experience has the opposite effect, it makes you more trustworthy. I personally would have more faith in someone who is more mature and had kids herself, rather than an early 20-ish year old. One first client will turn into 10, and into 100, and before you know you'll have a running business!
      How about not committing to either yet, but instead doing a 'test run' for each. Oftentimes when we get into the details and practice, you'll find the answer.
      Whatever you decide to do, I'm wish you fulfillment and success!

Idk how to choose and find what I should do exactly and there's one more option which my dad wish for me to do which is joining air force of my country and that is a nice career to and I surely would be very happy to serve my country (my father ain't forcing me). Should we have multiple (2) accounts on a social Media platform like Twitter or LinkedIn if a person has to engage with specific different audiences for leads and growth?

    • @MultipleCareers
      @MultipleCareers  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for asking this question, this is question that I've tinkered with for a long time myself. It really depends on the type of business/goals one has.
      In general, yes, using separate accounts is a good approach if the two audiences don't overlap much. This is how I see it: If these 2 things are businesses where the main product is not you, but there is a product or service that you can detach from yourself (e.g.gardening advice and interior design), I would definitely separate the social media accounts for these, the same way as P&G would have a separate account for 'Tide' and 'Pantene'. But if the main product is you as a personality (e.g. Gary Vee), I would use one account in the beginning (and branch off later if needed). Gary Vee talks about a multitude of things, he talks about social media, wine, pokemon cards, NFT, personal development advice. He doesn't have separate accounts for all of these, because the main product is Gary Vee who is helping people change their life.
      Hope this helps!
