Great video Rob! As someone who just turned 31 & is starting over, I really appreciated you sharing your personal story... Thank you :-) If I can add my two sense as well... I would suggest, that if you're torn between disciplines, & one of them has an option to do a shorter 6mth/1yr course in that field (or a traineeship/apprenticeship)... Personally I'd recommend trying out the shorter option first... As doing it that way means if you change your mind & want to take the other path, you've still got something to show for the journey you've been on, without forcing yourself to complete a 3/4yr degree that you feel compelled to follow through... I'd also recommend that if you've narrowed it down to 2 options, that you list the reasons *why* you think thats a good choice (or why you're hesitant to lock it in)... Sometimes doing that can illuminate things we didn't really realise, that show us it may not actually be the best path afterall... For example, if you're picking a certain uni because its in a city, so closer to clubs/nightlife etc, & that is what interests you at this particular point in time, than maybe that helps you see that maybe its best to let yourself focus on that at the moment, & maybe study at a later date instead... Like you were saying Rob, whatever path you choose, giving it your all is key :-) Wow, sorry this was a bit long... Thanks again for a great video... Have to remind myself its not too late to start again... After covid like you said a lot of people are in this boat 🌹 All the best man - Emma.
What a trip! I visited Coober Peedy 5 years ago before I left Aus to live abroad. I absolutely loved the place. Thanks for the reminder of this beautiful place.
Alex, you're here, and that shows something about your thinking process. You need to know that you will not figure it out now and that it will always change. Your interests will change, and that's fine, because nothing is static. By all means don't think anyone else has it figured out and fall into the comparison trap (because the grass is always greener over the septic tank!) You do have time to succeed, fail., learn, forget, and grow. You're smart enough to look for answers and ask questions and that makes you a success already.
“Don’t listen to anybody” is a very true statement Parents all want us to become doctors and for me, going into medicine would be SO easy (personally) but I am a bit of a germaphobe and don’t want to be the reason anyone (especially my family) dies (inevitable but is so much guilt on one conscience) And working in the airport and medicine are two places that are the most vulnerable to disease and pandemics (especially obvious after COVID) So now I’m working towards an office job I’ll have for a while before I am experienced enough to just do it from home Everyone has something that works out for them, and if you’re reading this you’re likely much older than me but the statement stands Stuff happens, life keeps moving, there’s always going to be SOMETHING out there for you Even if you haven’t found it yet, and it may take a while to do so, and sometimes you don’t even have to actively search because sometimes the opportunity will come to you So good luck, do your best at whatever it is you do and because of doing your best you don’t need to have anymore regrets
I don't know how old/young you are but you are surely very wise and also compassionate. It sounds like you've listened to your inner dialogue and not gotten caught up in the day to day noise. I wish I'd not listened to anyone early on but life progressed and I've finally realized I'm not up for that! I hope you write because I do and you've got a great way of expressing yourself. Best to you!
@@goesfarfliesnear1447 thank you so much, and I do understand what you mean I do face many struggles and even after communicating to my parents, they do not want me to go the University I want to (I will work on this as I will need to apply next year but) I’m thankful for what they’ve provided me and caring for me but, to have a job that is as good as they hope, I need the right education So despite having to commute, I know what my responsibilities are and what I want to do for now, it does not have to be a big change for you but just know that you are who your are, your flaws and your hobbies shape you Don’t let others push them aside and drag them, my dad tells me whenever I’m stressed “whatever you’re going through, remember there’s a light on the other side of the tunnel”
Thank you, Rob! All good advice in a beautiful setting. I've chosen a school but my situation is different: I'm 60 and getting my master's. I can get an MBA with a minor in my interest area or an M.S. in my interest area. I don't want to pigeonhole myself or be too broad...I've been out of the workforce for quite awhile caring for an elderly parent and employability is a concern. I'm also a first generation college student who didn't always follow the traditional path. Your advice about not listening to others is spot on. I'm from the "learn to type" for girls generation but didn't until my mid twenties. I've been a lot manager at a car lot, a paralegal, and a massage therapist. I was told what I should do but didn't always listen! My best advice is to do that thing that brings you joy and you'll never work a day in your life. And yes, enjoy the ride! What other people think of you is none of your business. :)

It is certainly a unique place!
I’m 21 years old and have been putting a lot of pressure on myself to figure my life out. This was just the video I needed right now, thank you!
Glad to hear it!

@@goesfarfliesnear1447 Thank you for the reassuring words :)
“Don’t listen to anybody” is a very true statement
Parents all want us to become doctors and for me, going into medicine would be SO easy (personally) but
I am a bit of a germaphobe and don’t want to be the reason anyone (especially my family) dies (inevitable but is so much guilt on one conscience)
And working in the airport and medicine are two places that are the most vulnerable to disease and pandemics (especially obvious after COVID)
So now I’m working towards an office job I’ll have for a while before I am experienced enough to just do it from home
Everyone has something that works out for them, and if you’re reading this you’re likely much older than me but the statement stands
Stuff happens, life keeps moving, there’s always going to be SOMETHING out there for you
Even if you haven’t found it yet, and it may take a while to do so, and sometimes you don’t even have to actively search because sometimes the opportunity will come to you
So good luck, do your best at whatever it is you do and because of doing your best you don’t need to have anymore regrets
Brilliant thoughts Zuzuwu - thanks so much for taking the time to share them with everyone. That really helps people out to hear these words!

Thank you.
You're welcome!
It's so true other people's opinion shouldn't detect our future .
I think it’s always good to listen to advice but only take it as that: advice. It’s up to each of us to decide what is the right direction to go.
Thanks a lot
Hope it helped 👍
