The most absurd part is that Slash recorded that iconic solo when he was only 21 years old.
It s not absurd, creation time is when you are young.
And that opening bit got him a gig with a garage band, I know I've seen the commercial!
I’m just as impressed with this entire album today as I was when they released it. Probably even more so.
Absolutely stands the test of time.
They're not my favorite band, but I can't think of a better album front to back.
GREATEST ALBUM EVER MADE!!!
@@endocry angra - temple of shadows
B side of Appetite for Destruction is where its at...You're Crazy, Anything Goes, and Rocket Queen
This song is forever in my “soundtrack of life”.
Same! 🤘🏻
Oy ... It's another one of those songs I dread hearing now. Not because it's not good. Quite the opposite. The guitar intro was my dad's ringtone and the song he would dance with me to as a little kid. I miss him deeply. RIP daddy 💜🖤💜🖤
I have a few key songs like this too..bittersweet 💙💙💙
I get it, I lost my only son Daniel 7 years ago and now when I hear Elton John's song 'Daniel' the lyrics really tear my heart out. I always liked that song but now all the lyrics remind me of how much I miss MY Daniel.
didn't see that ending coming...
💜
Sorry for your loss. Bittersweet.
I was in college when this album came out. This was PRE-GRUNGE. THIS is the album that killed "hair metal". I knew it the first time I heard it...ran in and told all of my roommates. Thank GOD GnR came along!
Slash is amazing, I remember watching him work with Brian May of Queen to perfect the song they sang at Freddie’s Tribute Concert.
where did you see that? I'd love to watch that, too.
Have you watched the Freddie tribute concert? George Michael actually did the best of everyone. GNR did a song then Axel Rose did one with Elton John. If you look on UA-cam you can find the entire concert with proceeds going to AIDS RESEARCH. Also, you can look up the rehearsals for the Freddie Tribute concert. Watch David Bowie blown away by George Michael… also Slash and Brian May jamming. There are several videos and interviews by the band members that participated in the event
As a 15 year-old kid in 1997 this blew me away and gave me a genre of music to finally love. I was listening to random MJ and Beach Boys stuff here and there, some New Edition and other pop... but I couldn't really define what I was into. I had no idea what I liked until I heard "Welcome to the Jungle" off this album. I heard that and said, YES! THIS is what I like! The whole album is amazing and I've been a hard rocker / metalhead ever since.
You MUST WATCH their Official Video of November Rain!
Oh man I just watched it again for the hundredth time. Chills nearly brought a tear to my eye best damn song and video ever!
@@Satanisruined I know! The first time I saw it I had a panic attack! 😂 It’s awesome!
@@heatherlynn3438 I mean it's the closest thing to having a whole movie. Plot twists character development everything all in less than 10 minutes not to mention some of the most badass music ever created.
@@Satanisruined I totally agree! I’m listening to your latest video now 😊
Love this Song, It came out around the time my daughter was born and it's still her song from me to her. 🔫🌹🌹❤🎸🎶
1987 and I was 21 years old. I saw Guns N Roses opening for Aerosmith in concert. They were fantastic. I still remember the day on MTV that Welcome to the Jungle premiered. I had to call my mom and ask if she was watching!!!! We were both instant fans!! 1980s. What a time to be alive!!!
Appetite For Destruction was everything I didn't know I needed when it came out! 🤟🎸🔥
HA HA HA HA yeah
My 77 year old Mother has always loved this song (grew up listening to HER Led Zeppelin, Who records). When my youngest brother got married 2 years ago, “Sweet Child O Mine” was their Mother/Son dance song. SO great to watch!! ❤
I want this to be the Mother/Son dance when my son gets married!
This was the song my cousin chose for his Mother/ Son dance at his wedding two years ago too. 😆 I guess it’s a popular choice.
I also danced with my son to this song at his wedding!
@@moidawgmom_9020 That's so awesome!
¡Good Morning, ADogg! This was one of my Dearly Departed Wife's favorite songs! (She only has 1× "child" = he is NOW, a RETIRED Chief Engineer of the U.S.Navy!!!)
💜
This is wild you never heard this song!! Love that you finally got it hear it!! Do yourself a favor and listen to this whole album! Every song is amazing, and that is a very rare thing to say!! You definitely have to react to some more Guns N' Roses!!
This track has aged like fine wine. Really well conceived song. Perfect execution. Tons of style from a band in their absolute prime.... Time to review some King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard my man! Lets bring it to modern day!
I saw Slash and The Conspirators with Myles Kennedy last March in Durham, NC. Best rock and roll show I've seen in a very long time.
The craziest thing is I saw this band at a roller skating rink in Ontario Canada. They opened for The Cult. Not many people knew who G&R were including me. They were booed when they played and the Cult's singer Ian Astburry came onto the stage to chastise the crowd! Unbelievable, they were nobody's and the next day were mega stars. When the Cult came on they started with Bad Fun, the power went out 3 songs in. After maybe 15mins the power was fixed and they started the set from the beginning! At the end during the encore Astburry was on top of the speaker tower ripping down the ceiling tiles saying they'll never play in a venue like this again. That's roughly 40 years ago. Crazy. I certainly wish I had payed closer attention to that opening band called Gun's and Roses...a few people were wearing G&R Tshirts. Those people knew something, not that the Cult weren't awesome they were. I had no idea I was walking into a place where a diamond was forming. And it makes for a great rock and roll story. ✌️
can't miss them at the ritz in 88 doing rocket queen
I was 13 when this came out. I got speakers for my walkman, strapped them to my bike, and rode around Lynn, MA for weeks "blasting" it for all to enjoy.
When I listen to GUNS-N-ROSES everybody listens to GUNS-N-ROSES!!!!🤘🤘
I love it!
Gotta hear Welcome to the Jungle and November Rain 🎸🤘
Damn. The memories are not lost on me.
In the late 80's - early 90's, Guns -n- Rose's was probably the most popular band on the face of the planet. They were so big that it's kinda hard to explain. I'm not a superfan but they are way up there from my teenage years. Check out some stuff from the "Use Your Illusions" double cd set.
remember how people always argued over GnR and Metallica?! -It was like you had to choose one over the other and there was no common ground! :D
@@JokerInk-CustomBuilds I loved both. I would say in that era Metallica was #1 popular, but G&R was a close second. And I thoroughly enjoyed both - at least from studio recorded albums.
The biggest difference between the two was their live performances. No contest Metallica was best live performance - G&R couldn't hold a candle to them. In fact they were usually quite amateurish with their live shows.
@@Frostrazor Gollom,in which world do you life?😅😅
Gnr still big, i mean, they have 25mi listeners on spotify
They were even in terminator 2
That opening guitar riff is absolutely criminal. Iconic. Hall of fame riff. Damn!
Dope..G and R are iconic..Slash the guitarist is a God of Thunder..😁🔥
Fun fact about Axl Rose: The Guns N' Roses vocalist has sung notes that span nearly six octaves, from F1 (in There Was a Time), in the second-lowest octave in scientific pitch notation, to B flat 6 (Ain't it Fun), five octaves above it. Rose has a lower baritone than Barry White, and can reach higher notes than Tina Turner and Beyoncé.
All the cigarette smoking and drug use over the years destroyed that vocal range pretty rapidly. Axl's voice is beyond shot when he's performing nowadays.
@@michaeldye8281 and he's also getting older, dork
Noone has beaten Father Time
@@jeffreyglenellen1188 Ok 'dork'....but that still doesnt take away from the fact that years of smoking and drug abuse destroyed his once powerful voice. You can still be a very good professional singer with great range well into your older years if you take care of yourself.
Scott Bradley on the keys, and Morgan James covers, "Sweet Child-O-Mine" live Paste Studio's NYC. One of her many covers she can sang with the best, to good to pass up!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love the new commercial with Slash auditioning for the kids garage band. Lmmfao
The guy with the top hat is slash who is usually considered one of the best guitar players ever in rock music.
Appetite for Destruction will always be an all time favorite album of mine. GnR have a catalog that is full of depth & range in some surprising ways, I suspect you'd find some personal favorites within no time.
Gotta’ hear “November Rain”.
My daddy sang this song to me playing his acustic guitar when I was home sick from school when I was 7, a few months later he died from drinking and driving. This song always brings a tear to my eye.
❤😢
Slash is a goat on the guitar
Paradise City. Must be next.
Axl Rose is the most dynamic singer I’ve ever seen live (I saw him several times in the early 1990’s at the height of his powers). Although I saw a 78 y/o Mick Jagger came pretty close.
Anyway this band live was something to behold.
This was huge back in the day. Axel Rose suffered from major stage fright! There were times they practically had to drag him on stage!
So many great hits. Paradise city, welcome to the jungle, 2 fantastic songs
I was driving my granddaughter to the hospital when this came on. That baby is going to be sooo cool when she grows up.
Some great song of GNR: Don't Cry - Civil war - Patience - Welcome to the jungle - Estranged - You Could Be Mine - Since I Don't Have You.
@ Moldred 👍 Suggestions. I suggested "November Rain" 🌧️. But I hope POLO saves that reaction for awhile.
Guns N Roses = 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I still remember when this album dropped. #AppetiteForDestruction
"Welcome to the Jungle" by them is one to check out. When I heard it on the radio for the first time, it stopped me in my tracks. I loved how dangerous the sounded.
And Daniel, now 35, is a musician. He moved to Nashville, toured 4 years ago. I miss him so.
Great tune. Miss the 70's so much.
Slash, "Top Hat", has done a commercial recently where he's trying out for a garage band. The opening riff gets him the gig. "Gee, thanks!"
I read somewhere that Axel forgot the words at the last verse and sang ‘where do we go now’ and liked it so much it stayed in the video,
Iconic Look, Iconic Guitar Player...
My mom and dad loved this song, said it reminded thrm of me growing up. Miss them😢
They got the name because this group was formed by various members of two other bands at that time. The bands were L.A. Guns and the Stone Roses. Lead singer is Axl Rose and the Lead guitarist is Slash.
Alright classic GNR! It's amazing you never heard this before! If you like it also check out November rain 😁
I play this on my bose every morning, 67 and love it. My kitties sit and listen to it, it's hilarious.
One of humanity's great works.
My childhood was riddled with GNR. MTV and my older sister, memories.
welcome to the GNR fan base!! glad to have you and I really enjoyed your reaction video - I'm sure I'm not the only one to recommend welcome to the jungle and Paradise city but really take a bit and just let the whole appetite for destruction album roll
Entire album is fire. Biggest selling debut album ever (US).
They guy in the top hat is Slash. Definitely one of the top tier metal guitarists around, still to this day. This whole album is fire. Great review!
Big talent. My fave by them is “ Welcome to the Jungle” about the scene on the LA Strip. Great video and it bangs !
Great reaction!!! Please react to more Guns N Roses!!🙏🏻😊 Their whole Appetite for Destruction album is pure 🔥 so you can't go wrong🎶😁🎶 Here's some of my favorites; Welcome to the Jungle, Mr Brownstone, Paradise city, Patience, It's so easy, Anything goes,Night train, Knocking on heavens door, Live and let die, Rocket queen, November rain, Don't cry, You're crazy, & sooo many more 🎶😁🎶
Axl Rose AMAZING pianist!!!
I can't believe if the first time somebody hear to this classic! 😲
Favorite band ever! 🔥🔥🔥 A must is Paradise City! And Welcome to the Jungle! 🔥
Slash (mr. Top hat) is lead guitarist 😂, and Axl Rose is the lead singer and frontman!!!! My fav duo
My favorite song. It was the first song played during my radiation therapy for breast cancer. Danced to this song with my son at his wedding. I tear up every time I hear sweet child of mine.
Gonna be front row in September to see them when they come to San Antonio… can’t wait!
I think Don’t Cry will always be my fav guns and roses song! Slash is my favorite guitarist, and these days he tours with our home town boy, Myles Kennedy. You need to listen to Starlight from the Slash and friends album. I love love love Axl, but Myles kills it still!
man its been a minute since ive heard slash doin this facemelter....legend.
This is my favorite Slash solo! ✌❤
You’ve gotta listen to “November Rain” from them next. LOVE IT!
Gotta do Civil War by them still relevant to this day such a great song.
Slash the guitarist (top hat) has his own band and was the founder of Velvet Revolver with Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots. Slash is an awesome guitarist.
"Top Hat" / Slash is a legend!
One of the great guitar solos
I remember when this album dropped. It blew the doors off everyone, very much a game changer from the hair metal scene at the time. Definitely one of the bands that starting turning music down the grunge path in the 90's.
I always said... Grunge didn't kill hair metal... GUNS-N-ROSES did! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Probably my favorite band of all time. ♥️♥️♥️
Great song, even better album. Still in rotation at home and in the car. A real heater. 🔥🔥
Ps you’ve seen Slash in a Capital One commercial on TV probably.
Thank you! I couldn’t remember which company it was …. Which means that was ad money wasted! 😂
Yea those last few minutes always give me goosebumps
one of the great guitar solos
It is literally impossible that one hasn't heard at least some part of this song somewhere.
Yes at least on vhi or radio
This song reminds me of my teenage years ❤🎉
He's singing about Erin Everly before he married her. Her father was one of the 2 Everly brothers who had a few big hits in the 1950s. Wake up little Suzy was one of their hit songs.
One of the greatest rock songs ever for sure and the way slash plays solos is just crazy
Rolling on the floor after you called Slash “Top Hat”. 😂😂
I love this song! The November rain video came out when I was in the middle of a divorce. I loved that song also
First time I heard the first GnR album was like an epiphany- one of the top 5 debut albums of all time...
Need to hear Paradise City! Even better!
Estranged is a great recommendation for you to react too or yesterday's both truly brilliant in their own right ❤
Polo, watching you watch/hear these great tracks for the first time takes me back to the first time I heard them and how they made me feel. Thank you Polo. I’m in my fourth hour of your reaction vids, thank you!
November Rain has a great guitar solo 🙂
Brilliant song, brilliant album.
Paradise City is awesome!!
Best guitar pron ever created. You need to do more. Just check out "Paradise City". It is one crazy good song from the same initial album from Guns.
About Sweet Child of Mine, the initial riff you hear was just something the guitarist Slash used to warmup before they played and practiced. Axl, the singer, heard enough of it to turn it into a song. Slash wasn't all that happy about it, but the way the crowd responds to it has won him over. He has to hit like note 3 on that thing and the crowd goes wild... It is weird how these things come together sometimes...
Love this channel..
Great job Polo
Paradise city pleeeeease..you will love it 😁😁😁😁😁
That riff… that opening riff… iconic!
I'm glad you said you heard it before, when I saw the title I was wondering how that was possible!
If I may, I would suggest John Prine - Sam Stone
Smoked Hash when this come out, what a good party album. Great time with fam haha
OMG, how have you never heard this song? G n R have been around for forever. Great album from start to finish. You should dive into the whole thing.
The solo guitarist is Slash. My daughter was lucky enough to win his guitar on a radio show. She also met with him and he signed it for her! Great band!
Not my genre--but I recently 'discovered' this song. Excellent comments BTW.
So glad you checked out GnR, I always loved Axl's nasal singing voice. I hope you check out their big single and video for November Rain
November Rain (the official video olease)will blow your mind.
Slash is in the top hat, one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
Oh and Axl Rose is the singer his name is an anagram for Oral, you can fill in the rest. 😄😁
This is the type of sound and look that attracts the most beautiful women.
