Keith Smerbeck exactly! I like the more serious tone of that theme rather than the playful tone the other versions have. It gave you a feeling that this was it and that shit was getting real.
It's funny how Red is considered to be one of the best trainers, but the fact that he's in all these games means he's doomed to lose to every other protagonist for the rest of his life.
True, but red's been a trainer longer then all of them, so combine his raw talent with experience and it makes sense why he wouldn't lose to the protags of newer games, even if they are champs themselves.
Isuma demon fox For a Battle Legend, he got swept by my Tapu Koko that had barely an EVs....Part luck since he came in with a Charizard, Lapras, and Blastoise and part unplanned since Tapu Koko basically outsped his team with just his base Speed
Paramedic seeing me dead on ground: how did he die? Other paramedic: What’s this playing through his headphones Paramedic: It’s red’s theme Other paramedic: he overdosed on nostalgia

He's a terror because he didn't have any other responsibilities in life other than grinding that pokemon team into a hand crafted winning squad.

Kat M You're actually guessing his age correctly when you're guessing the age he looks like. Going by the Pokémon timeline, he's actually in his twenties, since Sun and Moon actually take place a little over ten years after the events of Red/Blue.
He does have megas. But they still aren't very well trained. But let's be honest, anybody who played pokemon back in 1996 was a stupid kid who had no idea how to properly train a pokemon team. Nowadays we even have training programs and beans and iv and ev training. Back in the old days it was just vitimens and luck.
I dunno. I think the original just has a sense of urgency and the sense of "Well shit, I fucked up didn't I?" the first time you hear it after traversing the desolate cave to find a trainer that just says '. . .' and challenges you to a fight. It's a feeling that I don't think can ever be matched, and that's why the original is going to be my fave, always.
After analysis, I found that Red frequents regions with their own kinds of battle styles. He uses the regions professional battle institutes to have a better chance at finding trainers who can match him. My reasoning as to why the B2W2 and SM protagonists beat him is because he jumps right into the deep end when battling trainers from other regions and likes to fight the unexpected. Remember that Mew is capable of using any move, meaning there's no accurate way to predict its next attack. This is Red's favourite form of training, to fight the unpredictable and still win. This was Red's ultimate goal, to become powerful and skilled enough to capture Mew. He never left that dream behind, he simply realised he couldn't capture Mey if he didn't become used to battling unpredictable opponents. Hell, maybe he set Gold up to challenge him from the start. It's all about fighting smart with limited knowledge for Red.
It's more of a "Heh, you thought I was gone, bet you didn't expect me to come back, how about a battle, its been a while since I had such exchange of intense feeling with another trainer, brings alot of memories" with a very confident subtle smile, ready to kick start

A mountain that goes on for what seems like an eternity and at its summit, he waits. He waits for those worthy enough merely to face him. He waits for those who dare believe they are flawless, only to be taught how mistaken they have been. He humbles those who believe that just because they have bested the gyms, they are untouchable. He shows those who have attained the title of champion how empty that title is. His name is Red. And he does not lose." - Blue
I absolutely *love* how they made S/M Red look genuinely older, like he's gotten some age on him, but he still hasn't given up on battling strong trainers across the world, That's cool.
Has anyone ever thought about how Red being mute might attribute to him being one of the strongest trainers? Him and his pokemon don't communicate verbally so they'd have to be perfectly in sync mentally and physically. His pokemon are trained so well and so differently from other pokemon that they're almost autonomous. They're so well taught and experienced that they essentially fight on their own, meaning each pokemon is fighting for their own morals or their own terms. It's like that one monster fighting episode from Love Death and Robots on Netflix, where the pokemon aren't being told what to do from an outside source so their survival instincts kick in harder and they're almost "unhinged"
I think that red saying "..." Means that he means you can put there whatever you have said to the challenging trainer at that situation Like I will say Oh. Having that ho-oh (lv70) doesn't mean that you will win
@@tantejunko Red : ... Link : ...! Red : ... >:) Link : ...? Blue : Zelda do you experience link talking like that if so I have the same problem Zelda : Wow thats so annoying Blue : Yeah I know right
Red himself traveled all the regions. Watch Pokemon Generations Episode 1 for reference. I'm sure he took out Gyms and Leagues of all the regions and ended up in the battle tree becoming the final boss to beat in it. Yes, Red and Blue are both Battle Tree Legends. We get to see all regional champions under them including Cynthia which clears that Red and even Blue beat Cynthia. Red is the champion and might just be the best trainer in the world at this moment considering his experience in training and pokemons he caught from various regions he traveled.
@@Just_normal_youtube_channel well he technically cant since becoming the Champion of every regions would be... impossible lol, and hes technically still the Champion of Kanto/Johto, he just left which meant someone had to take over but he wasnt officially bested while champion and the 1 fight he may have lost aside from the randomness of the tournament is the one fight on top of a mountain whee you have nothing to show for your win
G/S/C: ... PS2: ... Anime: HG/SS: ... B2/W2: ... GEN: Heya howza goin? Im going to be the pokemon champion! S/M: ... Me: Red talked so much in generations that he lost his voice again
Origins is based on pokemon red/blue but with mega evolution. We don't know if he talked in red/blue, no main antagonist talks in the games they star in, so what if red just stopped wanting to speak, or he done lost the ability to after being on that moutain for 2-3 years.
you're trolling right? He looks ugly in sun and moon. he looked great in the earlier games. Thankfully its not even the REAL red. The real red is in the universe without mega evolutions. oras stated the older games are in a different universe.
For the longest time, I forgot Red's G/S/C theme was also Lance's theme. Probably because it didn't seem to stick as much to Lance as Red. When you hear those first notes of Red's theme when he just says '. . .' it just gave me a feeling of 'Oh shit I fucked up didn't i?" Therefore, the theme just is Red's to me, despite being Lance's, too.
bw2 introduced the best post game battling facility, the Pokemon World Tournament, where you could fight every gym leader and champion, with rental, mix, doubles, triples and type masters too. I still miss it, but now that gamefreak went to 3d is harder to imagine them animating all those models.
that world tournament was the main reason I bought b/w 2. I just wanted to end the game to get to the tournament. I wish they bring back that or at least something similar with some champions or the rent battle
It's nice seeing red and blue grew up. Honestly, it'd be really awesome if pokemon let us play as veteran trainer / previous playable trainers. I don't mind the idea of new trainers being introduced but having old ones being playable, let you get more plot development perhaps regarding the character. Especially if you feel attached to them.
Bravi'M It's mainly because Blue gets his theme as the World Champion theme, which is a pretty special thing. Red hasn't gotten as much attention as Blue has in the games now. Besides, it's a callback to Gen 1, in which it was all about Red, not Blue
There's an unsurmountable wave of dread and nostalgia that hits me at 00:00 Something akin to being dropped into the deep end of a pool and there being a shark right there, kind of feeling. Being a kid, fresh off a victory against the Elite Four, and the Kanto gyms, marching up a mountain for larvitaur and bam, my first blackout months... thanks for the video! 💚
Dude, do you know you are Gold, and also Red? Also you are all main characters. The point in that battle is to defeat the old you. Anyway, it does not matter if we are all of them. The important part is which one "you" is the best. That would be Rosa/Nate. They defeated everything all the other protagonists defeated, Red included.
Okay but why doesn't anyone point out how long his theme in PS2 is? And it's also something I never got to hear! It's amazing honestly! And his art there, he just looks soo cute hhghh
i think i know why ash doesn't age remember the anime where ash looked at Ho-Oh's Wings? well those wings represent the colors of the rainbow (some of them) and when ash saw the wings of Ho-Oh, ash didn't age but he only does, in a year, that makes ash have more time to become a pokemon master.
Eli please play it, it's really good! I picked up the game for one reason, I had been getting pokemon games since I was 8. I didn't think the game was going to be good. After playing the game, it is an experience I didn't know I wanted but I'm so happy I did. It has me torn on my fav pokemon game, either moon or heart gold (my first game was heart gold)
The trainer who destroyed everyone on a battle in one day and became the champion in the same day, and finalized the regional pokedex in one week, that's red
Came into the Battle Tree expecting a challenge..... What I got was Tapu Koko sweeping Red's team in a flawless victory....Dammit Red, you were a god in HGSS.
Red's team on paper wasn't meant to be difficult, just a reference to the events of the game. Throw in that half of his team is weak to Electric, and he becomes easy pickings for an uber like Tapu Koko
I couldn't come up with an original name D: I doubt Tapu Koko is considered uber. He does sport a base 130 Speed and decent offense but he lacks criteria to meet Uber standards. Tapu Koko's base total = 570. It isn't on the same level as Garchomp or Solgaleo. Just a really good sweeper. It qualifies for OU however.
@@stevenphang2505 Yeah, it's possible, but I doubt it for someone playing against him for the first time, without any sort of knowledge or preparation against his team. Especially if the player's team composition is inadequate.
I say they should do Red and the fans justice and make him literally over-powered. He should have all lvl 100 Pokemon with the best move-sets, EVs, IVs, hyper training, held items, mega evolutions and playing mechanism. He should be given an AI system that allows him to choose move-sets, EV training, mega evolution and held items that are optimized to combat the opponent's Pokemon and their moves. Nonetheless, they should stay true to the original Red and not change his team. More importantly, they should incorporate machine learning into Red's AI so that he learns more from anyone who battles him (throughout the world. i.e. online) such that he eventually becomes THE strongest trainer of all time. Even stronger than any human trainer. And once Red literally becomes unbeatable with, say 1,000,000 win streaks, Nintendo should announce 1,000,000 Yen prize for anyone who's able to take the legend down! When a brave (and, of course, poor) soul dares to finally challenge him, it should be aired on TV for the whole world to watch! That would be just epic!
That would be so cool, but sadly the games these days are just becoming more and more easy to beat. They can barely make a NPC have Pokemon over level 50 let alone level 100
How do you define "best move sets" though? You can run almost any pokémon with tons of different sets. You could have a bulky staller, or you could have a bulky sweeper, for example. Shuckle, for example. You can run Shell Smash, with or without contrary. Very few mons only have one viable set.
Like you correctly said, certain Pokemon have certain movements that have different purposes, like the Shuckle example you mentioned. So this already limits the choice variability, because there are really only 4 or 5 viable movesets for a given Pokemon and that's it (at least based on Somogon's strategy). So the choice is limited to just 4 options, and I am suggesting that the choice be made by an AI with machine learning. From battling with many different humans, the AI would know that if the opponent has team X then moveset Y is the optimal solution, and so on.
@@lightnoir6914 Ik it's late but it's mostly cuz I played SS and I love the motif like the piano in the background. Also it's not as over the top as the rest and remains menacing and reserved, like Red.
especially since you just spent a long time going through a dark cave fighting pokémon and solving puzzles so when you exit to a single trainer that only says “. . .” you get that “oh shit” feeling where you know shit is about to hit the fan
Lance and Red share a theme in GSC, in HGSS they had separate remixes. However it was like the differences in Reshiram's to Zekrom's Theme, with it very small....
Victory Master the fact you are using that as an argument shows how ignorant you are. first, the theme has no difference at all. Both have the same tunes, instruments and paces. There is no difference. Even on the official OST release, the theme is the same, while Zekrom and Reshiram's them are separated and second, I write horrendous on mobile, so if you are gonna complain or use that as an excuse to sound superior, I'm really sorry for your attempt for attention
Y'know what the weird thing is when you think about it? Red never, not *once* has ever gotten a theme of his own. Gen 2-5 along with the ones in the anime and origins are ALL the Johto champion theme, on all accounts it is *LANCES* theme that has been more so associated with Red because the battle on Mt. Silver is so memorable to those who've played gold and silver. The _closest_ Red gets to his own theme is in sun and moon AND STILL it is shared with Blue, so even that one isn't fully his. I guess Red is a firm believer on "Sharing is caring" ADDENDUM: He had one in Pokemon Stadium 2 that was relatively unique, being a remix of Mt. Moon and Dark Cave. Timestamp: 4:05
@@williamshuffles Given PS2's notorious difficulty I highly doubt that simply "playing stadium in their life" would automatically give them the knowledge that this theme was even in the game as Red is the final boss. It's like that one monster fighting episode from Love Death and Robots on Netflix, where the pokemon aren't being told what to do from an outside source so their survival instincts kick in harder and they're almost "unhinged"
So you're saying red and its Pokemon mastered Ultra Instinct? :o
In masters red actually says that talking isn't necessary because of his connection to his pokemon.
Sonnie’s Edge is goated
I think that red saying "..."
Means that he means you can put there whatever you have said to the challenging trainer at that situation

Red’s the kind of guy to beat a champion, and simply choose not to log in to the hall of fame.

Everyone asks for Red’s theme
No one asks for Lance’s theme
For the longest time, I forgot Red's G/S/C theme was also Lance's theme. Probably because it didn't seem to stick as much to Lance as Red. When you hear those first notes of Red's theme when he just says '. . .' it just gave me a feeling of 'Oh shit I fucked up didn't i?" Therefore, the theme just is Red's to me, despite being Lance's, too.
It's the Champion Theme, and both of them are Champions. It makes sense.

*How did I go this long without knowing he was in B2/W2?!*
bw2 introduced the best post game battling facility, the Pokemon World Tournament, where you could fight every gym leader and champion, with rental, mix, doubles, triples and type masters too.
I still miss it, but now that gamefreak went to 3d is harder to imagine them animating all those models.
Thank you, wise sage.
that world tournament was the main reason I bought b/w 2. I just wanted to end the game to get to the tournament. I wish they bring back that or at least something similar with some champions or the rent battle
but it would be cool if they at least they add some of the gym leaders/champions to the arcade

In my opinion HG and SS is the best one.
I agree.
Zysto I agree
Zysto agreed i personally thinks its the most feeling and polished one
Zysto yep
So overrated.....
I still don't know why anyone dislikes the SM Red/Blue mashup. It's really an awesome piece.
Leave them it doesn't matter as long as lot of people likes the video ;)
I'm upset by the fact that SM theme has almost no Blue champion theme parts in it. If you find them, then show them !
Bravi'M It's mainly because Blue gets his theme as the World Champion theme, which is a pretty special thing. Red hasn't gotten as much attention as Blue has in the games now. Besides, it's a callback to Gen 1, in which it was all about Red, not Blue
Kelyx614
Yeah, I know that, but as the SM theme is also his then parts of HIS theme should also be included.

That's like saying Red didn't beat the Kanto gyms, league, and Blue, we did
@Lorenzo Gabriel Zacal XD
Red is really good, but Cynthia is superior!
You don't beat Red you survive Red

remember the anime where ash looked at Ho-Oh's Wings? well those wings represent the colors of the rainbow (some of them) and when ash saw the wings of Ho-Oh, ash didn't age but he only does, in a year, that makes ash have more time to become a pokemon master.

That lgpe red theme sucka
What's lgpe
Came into the Battle Tree expecting a challenge.....
What I got was Tapu Koko sweeping Red's team in a flawless victory....Dammit Red, you were a god in HGSS.
To be fair, he wasn't using a Legendary
Hydreigon530 Red didn't use legendaries in HGSS either.
Michael Bongiorno Tapu Koko is a Legendary though
Red's team on paper wasn't meant to be difficult, just a reference to the events of the game. Throw in that half of his team is weak to Electric, and he becomes easy pickings for an uber like Tapu Koko
I couldn't come up with an original name D: I doubt Tapu Koko is considered uber. He does sport a base 130 Speed and decent offense but he lacks criteria to meet Uber standards. Tapu Koko's base total = 570. It isn't on the same level as Garchomp or Solgaleo. Just a really good sweeper. It qualifies for OU however.
Even if that makes you cry, Red actually lost to almost all other protagonists. Anyway, this themes are so epic.
I mean red was the only one of the protagonist to meet to others so uh there’s that
No one protagonist defeated red... We... Defeated red
@@notfrosty620 then red did bothing
Well Not Canonically
It wasn’t even fair tho I borrowed a team of legendaries from my copy of Pokémon diamond because my heartgold team was still in 60s
You can already tell he's a *legend* when he bypasses the rule of *never ageing in pokemon.*
Maturing is realizing that: *Ash never grew up because his internal battery ran dry.*
when I battled red in HG I didn't realize it was him until that music began then I was like "well.......shit."
You would get obliterated, unless your team is composed of Level 80s+.
@@Toru_01 you can beat him with level 50s...
@@stevenphang2505 Yeah, it's possible, but I doubt it for someone playing against him for the first time, without any sort of knowledge or preparation against his team. Especially if the player's team composition is inadequate.
@@Toru_01 it's just like vsing lance with low lvls. You just spam full restores. If someone can do that then they wont have too much trouble with red
Beshr Al Khateeb 15th that's crazy I like it.
I didn't understand half of v that but lets do it
Like you correctly said, certain Pokemon have certain movements that have different purposes, like the Shuckle example you mentioned.
HG/SS remains as my favorite tbh
What makes it the best
@@lightnoir6914
Ik it's late but it's mostly cuz I played SS and I love the motif like the piano in the background. Also it's not as over the top as the rest and remains menacing and reserved, like Red.

wait one fucking sec.... they USED RED HIS THEME IN THE ANIME? WTF How did i never knew that?
actually, it is more the champion theme, but yeah
Lance and Red share a theme in GSC, in HGSS they had separate remixes. However it was like the differences in Reshiram's to Zekrom's Theme, with it very small....
Victory Master you ar wrong. The theme is the same for both. There is no difference between the 2
PortalDark The fact that you cannot spell the word "are", proves to me that you cannot tell the difference between anything.
Victory Master
the fact you are using that as an argument shows how ignorant you are.
first, the theme has no difference at all. Both have the same tunes, instruments and paces. There is no difference. Even on the official OST release, the theme is the same, while Zekrom and Reshiram's them are separated
and second, I write horrendous on mobile, so if you are gonna complain or use that as an excuse to sound superior, I'm really sorry for your attempt for attention

I guess Red is a firm believer on "Sharing is caring"
