I’ve never seen two versions of the same character at such opposite ends of the spectrum as far as quality goes. V1 is easily one of the best figures in the whole damn line, in my humble opinion of course.
I love this version of Beach head I think he's great , yes the yellow weapons are a let down but the figure is very cool. The mask he wears is very thin material which is obviously see through in leau of face paint
Good review as always. If you can see past the terrible colors the sculpt of Beach-Head is pretty solid. It’s a pretty good representation of what 90’s era SEALs were using on VBSS duties.
that "Grip" was a attachment point for the Battle suit Space force joes. It fit on their Joe terminator armor suits, or whatever you call those. Beachhead's an RI at Benning. He does the Darby Queen for laughs and lives on Ranger Coffee.
I know it's probably not good for your blood pressure, but I have to admit I love watching you review these 93-94 figures. As a kid, I was always torn between being psyched to finally get some core characters into my collection and knowing the new designs were horrendous. Also, good call (IMHO) on not reviewing the Battle Corps era repaints as separate figures. Doesn't seem like a 2nd review is warranted for what were essentially minor repaints.
Man i remember i had this beach-head in my first lot of joes as a kid. I had no idea who he was, and used him as sub-zero from mortal kombat since i had a few street fighter and mortal kombat joes
Hey wait a minute, I've been thinking and I don't recall ever seeing HCC and Timmer in the same room together ..... Maybe it shouldn't be HCC anymore but instead Zartan!!! Anyway on a serious note, what a fantastic and comprehensive review. Always look forward to these Sunday uploads.
What the heck did they do to Beachhead!? The original figure looked like it belonged to an elite commando team! Version 2 there looks like it's part of some bazaar post-apocalyptic, sci-fi spoof! 😝
His gear is actually pretty close to 90’s SEAL VBSS gear. If they would have given him better colors and a less awkward mask sculpt. But the pro-tech style skate helmet and LBV is pretty solid.
You are the only person I have ever heard complain about getting more stuff. Things get lost for kids with active imaginations. Figures that came with extra gear helped replenish supplies for lost gear or stuff you just didn't care for.
I notice on the back of the card where it says new special forces and it includes Battle corps in that so now it makes me wonder whether Battle Corps isn't just the regulat GI Joe at all as we are lead to believe. I actually like the look of this figure.
Let's not forget that during the early '90s, we were going through a recession. That would explain alot of the corner-cuttings Hasbro did with the latter end of the G.I. Joe line [the accessory trees; the funky plastic colors (I imagine Hasbro got those neon-colored plastics at a cheaper price than normal colors, not to mention the brighter colors went along with other neon-colored '90s toys); heavy reuse of existing parts; paper stickers for vehicles; etc.]. Of course, that doesn't give this figure a free pass. This could of been a good figure (perhaps a great figure) if they hadn't molded in the mouth and nose with such a level of detail. 1993 Beachhead along with fellow '93 figures Leatherneck and Bazooka make up a triad of existing Joes revamped in a poorly puzzling manner. Mosquito-Net Beachhead? Safari Leatherneck? Fly-fisherman Bazooka? No, no, and no!
The card art makes it appear that 'kinky cop' Beach-Head is strangling to death on his balaclava mask. Yep, these are the years Hasbro really decided to punish it's fan base!
My son had parts from the 1st version and the full 2nd version. The torso on the 1st version was broken and we could not find his head. It would have been cool to customize and put v2 legs on v1 body making him almost all one color.
I grew out of GI joe a lot earlier but I remember in High school I was walking through a Toys R us in Brooklyn And saw these bright Joes and was so annoyed what they did to my childhood I mean what was their obsession with yellow
my mom used to bring my older bro and i to child world and ann & hope to buy our joes.. then my mom started getting those jc penny catalogs in the mail that sold joes also..
My son had v2 and parts of v1. His v2 had the arms from v1. Out of the parts the only thing missing was his head. The crotch was broken on the waist piece and his torso would need to be glued together. My guess was V1 was well played with and they made v2 more uniform in color. I thought both were cool figures.
His gear is close enough to 90s Navy SEAL VBSS gear. If his mask was better he would be great. Maybe a grey instead of blue shirt. The skate helmet and LBV is pretty accurate
It really seems like you only like a certain couple waves that came out sometimes. As for the re use of parts, that's kind of cool in my book. If they did a line where it was the same figure with different skin tone and head sculpt, it would be a bit more realistic to the actual military, and reminiscent of the OG 13!
Wow, middle tier. Pretty generous. You pulled off a pretty good review of a really bland figure. I really didn't mind reuse of molds. I especially don't mind mixing and matching, the sky patrol was fun sub-team. Rumbler in crossfire was my favorite reuse of molds.
I think this figure may have worked if either they: A. Made the mask blue like on the arms B. Used a different helmet C. Painted the helmet and goggles different colors. Perhaps I’d the. Lue was a bit darker
Wooooooo whhhooooooooo! The man in the blue balaclava makes an appearance! I think this version of Beachhead would have been better with some camo, and if they got rid of the blue shirt, or made it darker, or a camo pattern. But that head sculpt is just a down right crime, sorry Beachhead, I know man, it'll be alright your 86 gear is in the dryer right now. Yellow guns? Were the Joe's and Cobras using Super soaker s at this point? =/ And Hoodie, I thought you were Timmer in the beginning, I was like what's Timmer doing here lol, love the review Hoodie! May I suggest a Shockwave review part two for next week? lol! Just kidding.. =] Later! Yo! HOODIE CO CO!!
I actually prefer 90 figure reviews as those are the figures I am not too familiar with so seems more fresh. On the back of his card you actually point to the sub team section where battle corps is listed as one of them
I remember having this figure, oh why yellow guns, why not black or grey or green, but still an ok figure, too bad I never had the 86 version, maybe one day I will at the right price he is not cheap, and I can see why
Great review! If you don't like reusing parts, don't start reviewing Transformers. Because of all the engineering that goes into those toys they reuse parts more often than not. There were many characters who were physically identical except for their colors. Lately they would just change the head (on a ball joint to make it easy to switch) or the accessories. It's a cost saving measure so I don't get too worked up over it and just pick the one I like best. Then again, Transformers are robots and not people so maybe individuality should matter more in a GI Joe toyline.
Great review, as always. I like the original 1986 version of Beachhead. This one, like many other 1990's G.I. Joe figures, looked awful! Who thought up the idea for these unrealistic colors for the weapons? Hasbro really lost vision of realism for the line after 1990 following other toy line trends at the time.
I remember this figure---basically all I did was repaint him in olive drab and black and I got the SEAL 6 character from Half-Life Counterstrike. Wish I kept it now, so that I could show it off...basically a different, less neon paint job would have made him look way better. Got him for cheap in the Philippines at the time (seeing that they were desperately trying to sell off all the unsold 90's figs) counterstrike.wikia.com/wiki/Counter-Strike
A great review of a horrible figure. I remember the 1993 lineup with happiness and sadness as several all time favorite figures like the Black hooded Cobra Commander and Desert Storm "Fritz" Duke came out that were amazing to me. As always you can even re-sculpt a boring figure into a fun review.
Uh, wouldn't version 2 Beachhead actually be the Mission Brazil version? Making the Battle Corps ones versions 3 and 4? Anyway, I hear what you're saying about the reuse of existing legs and waists on many of these late 90's figures, but it also really doesn't bother me. I was always more bothered by poor color choices, which I always assumed was a concession to make GI Joe -- and Transformers -- look less like "war toys" and therefore more.acceptable to parents who had an issue with them. But, as always, to each their own. I would have loved to see this Beachhead, like so many other 90s Joes, repainted in better colors in the 2000s... Sigh.
My friend had this figure when we were kids, and the lips BUGGED ME OUT. I knew Beach Head from the cartoon, and could not see v2 as Beach Head. The card art made it even more confusing. Then, later on when YoJoe.com came around, I saw Beach Head v1 and thought the head was even worse. That huge balloon head and the goofy mouth showing through just don't do it for me (the "Night Force" box set repaint somewhat mitigates this). Snake Eyes v2 has the same problem-- the design looks amazing in the comics, cartoons, and packaging art, but the lips ruin it. These days, though, I don't mind this figure but I can't see him as Beach Head still. I'm also easier on Beach Head v1 than I used to be. I still think the head sculpt could be much, much better, though. Like Shockwave, as you said. Hell, they did a great job with Undertow, too. I always wonder how a straight head swap between Undertow v1 and Beach Head v1 would work out.
We've really been mislead by the eat your broccoli to become big and strong lie...I never got taller than 5' 10"... And never made the NFL....And I always ate my broccoli...and hated it! Thanks Mom!
Beachhead v1 still the best figure as for v2 its ok but yellow weapons ruined it.. always liked his attitude in the cartoon especially sometimes his small rivalry with Flint during Season 2
I got Beach Head version 2 as a present for my 11th birthday in 1993. I was flattered that my friend remembered that I liked G.I. Joe. A few years ago since I had misplaced many of his accessories (minus the pistol) I purchased a Funskool Beach Head, and gave the accessories to my version 2 action figure. By taking this step it brings Beach Head closer to the military esthetic in my mind. I also own this figure mint on card, since I like what Hasbro did the figure sculpt wise with the reused Shockwave legs.
Beach head v2 is an awful bland figure with the color choices in my opinion..there is actually not very many from that year ,93 , that is a great idea. The creative crew was cheapening everything at this time with the tree accessories and repeat molds that really helped kill the toy. At that time they were just barely holding on. If they would've went back to more of a military version of figures I think they would've been able to continue. But everything was Ninja, or Space, or dinosaurs. Why they started copying what was popular at the box office or cartoon toys like Turtles or Star Wars was what left me scratching my head. We wanted military figures to fight against Cobra. New figures would've been nice instead of trying to reboot the old into something they weren't. This Beach head figure is an example of what was wrong and why kids just didn't go for them. It was the end of military realism in toys. But a few years later was when big WW2 movies became hits like Saving Pvt Ryan etc. That sent a surge of new figures and a demand for realism in military toys again. GI Joe just needed to wake up . They're still asleep. We'll never get a new original military design from Hasbro again. I hope they wake up from thier long sleep . The toy aisles are screaming for GI Joe! It's time Hasbro!
I don't mind this version of beachhead. The guns are completely disgusting. I think Hasbro came up with a pretty good sculpt. Just the color scheme sucks. If I got this figure I would repaint it
I’ve never seen two versions of the same character at such opposite ends of the spectrum as far as quality goes. V1 is easily one of the best figures in the whole damn line, in my humble opinion of course.
Love your Timmer impression and Timmer's cameo. And then there was the Fishnet mask. Hilarious! Bravo sir, Bravo!
I think his mask was a camouflage net. The art at the beginning of the video. The "Property of Shockwave" label on the pistol was a nice touch.
The turquoise/teal colour scheme of this VERSION 2 BEACH HEAD fits perfectly with the MUDBUSTER vehicle.
I love this version of Beach head I think he's great , yes the yellow weapons are a let down but the figure is very cool. The mask he wears is very thin material which is obviously see through in leau of face paint
Whaaa?! that wasn't Timmer? I haven't been that shocked by a reveal since The Crying Game lol
Now that was fucking funny
Good review as always. If you can see past the terrible colors the sculpt of Beach-Head is pretty solid. It’s a pretty good representation of what 90’s era SEALs were using on VBSS duties.
that "Grip" was a attachment point for the Battle suit Space force joes. It fit on their Joe terminator armor suits, or whatever you call those. Beachhead's an RI at Benning. He does the Darby Queen for laughs and lives on Ranger Coffee.
2 years later we all sound like that. Great video as always.
I know it's probably not good for your blood pressure, but I have to admit I love watching you review these 93-94 figures. As a kid, I was always torn between being psyched to finally get some core characters into my collection and knowing the new designs were horrendous.

Yeah, HCC pulled a Zartan on Timmer alright! : )
Beachhead what have they done to you ?!?!?!
It was a dark time for G.I. Joe.
They made him wear a hairnet for a mask.
Beach-Head wears a fishnet stocking on his head and a corset? Don't want to know what's underneath.
the fishnet and corset was a carry over from a scraped idea at Hasbro, The Fetish Corps, but it didn't test well with focus groups
Those LBVs from the 90s did kinda look like corsets though.
You are the only person I have ever heard complain about getting more stuff. Things get lost for kids with active imaginations. Figures that came with extra gear helped replenish supplies for lost gear or stuff you just didn't care for.
Glad things are straightened out. I enjoy your channel. I'd have missed you and the family.
Beachhead and Shockwave are 2 of my favorites
I thought it was a collaboration with Timmer to start with.
oh Beachhead, what happened?? Loved the Timmer bit at the beginning, brilliant!
I notice on the back of the card where it says new special forces and it includes Battle corps in that so now it makes me wonder whether Battle Corps isn't just the regulat GI Joe at all as we are lead to believe. I actually like the look of this figure.

Mosquito-Net Beachhead? Safari Leatherneck? Fly-fisherman Bazooka? No, no, and no!
You bring up a good point about the early 90s and cost cutting measures.
Glad you're doing better.
You didn't mention how in Brazil this is a cobra figure...named Armadilha
The card art makes it appear that 'kinky cop' Beach-Head is strangling to death on his balaclava mask. Yep, these are the years Hasbro really decided to punish it's fan base!
My son had parts from the 1st version and the full 2nd version. The torso on the 1st version was broken and we could not find his head. It would have been cool to customize and put v2 legs on v1 body making him almost all one color.
I’m writing this looking at the figure and his bright yellow accessories. All I have to say is: GOOD LAWD, WHY?!? Now on to the review.
I grew out of GI joe a lot earlier but I remember in High school I was walking through a Toys R us in Brooklyn And saw these bright Joes and was so annoyed what they did to my childhood I mean what was their obsession with yellow
Sure I had this figure. But I never used him as Beach Head. He was a generic driver for the Mudbuster 4WD.
I remember getting the ice snake for Christmas
Wow I never knew he had shockwaves legs . Cool
Without those obnoxious yellow weapons, it's a nice enough action figure.
The aqua green and blue of his outfit work very well together.
Great video Bryan.
your audio sounds great here to me, you got great pipes!
my mom used to bring my older bro and i to child world and ann & hope to buy our joes.. then my mom started getting those jc penny catalogs in the mail that sold joes also..
Property of shockwave on the title art gun haha
I believe that the 1986 Beach Head has facial hair, which does create that look in a balaclava. 1993 Beach-Head is just into kinky stuff.
Beachhead cosplay 👍🤣
His gear is close enough to 90s Navy SEAL VBSS gear. If his mask was better he would be great. Maybe a grey instead of blue shirt.
The skate helmet and LBV is pretty accurate
I'm here from comictropes to check you out.
It really seems like you only like a certain couple waves that came out sometimes. As for the re use of parts, that's kind of cool in my book. Perhaps I’d the. Lue was a bit darker
‘93 Beachhead. The S&M Joe. Lol
I had this figure as a kid and really liked it! But, you make a good point about the mask. You really shouldn't see his mouth like that.
Wooooooo whhhooooooooo! The man in the blue balaclava makes an appearance! I think this version of Beachhead would have been better with some camo, and if they got rid of the blue shirt, or made it darker, or a camo pattern. I was thinking the blue shirt would be better a dark gray myself. That's always a good color!
I actually prefer 90 figure reviews as those are the figures I am not too familiar with so seems more fresh. On the back of his card you actually point to the sub team section where battle corps is listed as one of them
I thought he looks like scrap iron without the missile pod
I remember having this figure, oh why yellow guns, why not black or grey or green, but still an ok figure, too bad I never had the 86 version, maybe one day I will at the right price he is not cheap, and I can see why
Too bad all that yellow messes up the figure
I think Timmer mics up his voice-box for his reviews. Yeah this Beach-Head is kinda weird, I think you've hit all the necessary points.
Lmao, almost thought I clicked on the wrong video.
Damn.....
That's a rough looking figure. How the mighty have fallen.
Beach Head v1 is my favorite Joe... but the V2 and V3 just aren't great.
I actually like the design of the figure.. just bad color choices..
Great review!

I had version one good channel
A Blue Laser background. I assume they will be blowing up the ocean eventually….
I think the “mask” on ver 2 is supposed to represent mosquito netting
Love ur channel! Keep on goin brotheer
Beachhead and Firefly? Hope they didn't do Shockwave with fishnets
Ugh..,.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂...nice work man
grievously wounded mindbender begs for a merciful death, denied by hoodie coco
I remember this figure---basically all I did was repaint him in olive drab and black and I got the SEAL 6 character from Half-Life Counterstrike. counterstrike.wikia.com/wiki/Counter-Strike
The yellow accessories looks like Kraft mac & cheese.
Can you update us on how your doing?
Zartan assumes Timmer's identity.
this one should have been a Cobra trooper or a V2 copperhead
Why does the card art show the figure with a green mouth? Could you do a video that has your list of what figures are in your top tier?
What if you swapped version 1s arms and head out with version 2.might be an improvement

What was the point for v3..
Nice cosplay
We've really been mislead by the eat your broccoli to become big and strong lie...I never got taller than 5' 10"... And never made the NFL....And I always ate my broccoli...and hated it! Thanks Mom!
I thought the lower half looked unusually better than the rest...
HCC I thought you were Timmer NOT?
Is he screaming even though he got a mask on???..😂😂😂
I think he's trying to breathe. xD
Beachhead v1 still the best figure as for v2 its ok but yellow weapons ruined it.. always liked his attitude in the cartoon especially sometimes his small rivalry with Flint during Season 2

Dear God! The horror!
Fishnet mask 😂
How relevant is that mask gag now lol
I like the sculpt, but the blue arms put it in the bottom tier for me....
Beach head v2 is an awful bland figure with the color choices in my opinion..there is actually not very many from that year ,93 , that is a great idea. Hasbro needs people who really get it! We got too much crap from folks who were not with it.
Feelin' sexy with your wife's fish nets on, are ya?! LOL
I don't mind this version of beachhead. The guns are completely disgusting. I think Hasbro came up with a pretty good sculpt. Just the color scheme sucks. If I got this figure I would repaint it
good review for crappy figure
90's GI Joe makes me cringe soo bad! lol
I knew something was wrong with Gi Joe by 92' this figure was a disappointment and didn't live up too the original
Brightly colored weapons are legit my favorite thing about this era. Lol
He looks like a mutated zombie.
This thing is hideous.
This is like a new actor coming and and taking over a role for a fan favorite. This figure sucks!
Man,this Beach Head is terrible.
Good lord those are ugly figures
Horrible!
