I think what makes this theme stick out to me is not only just the fact Pikmin has NEVER delved into heavy metal like this before, but just how absolutely frantic and unnerving it is. There’s barely a melody to latch onto, there’s only orchestration in the VERY brief windows you have to attack, it NEVER sounds heroic or triumphant(even when it’s vulnerable, it still sounds crazed). You aren’t fighting just a buffed creature, or a freak of nature, or even a stacked and strapped omega Spider. You are fighting PNF-404’s APEX PREDATOR. A dark reflection of the little rescue pup that’s been helping you the entire game, with the abilities of the even littler army that’s also been helping you the entire game.
Another thing is how it feels like a melody starts to form in the last two phases, or how at the very least more consistent riffs and drum patterns happen
i feel like the reason why the music for p4's final boss is so tonally different is because this is AN ACTIVE MURDER ATTEMPT, the previous final bosses were powerful (or armed for titan dweevil's case) creatures following instincts defending itself against the sudden attack (or attempting to get back something they obsessed over for plasm wraith's case)
Which is really scary for the fact that this creature is still the size of a lapdog. Which raises a scarier question of how much worse other animals on this planet evolved, because if PNF-404 is truly earth, *How bad have creatures that are a genuine threat to humans, such as crocodiles, hippos and lions got?*
@@Murr248 the fact that none of the human buildings or objects have eroded or grown moss on them in the game also suggests that humans haven't gone extinct, or another intelligent life form the size of humans have taken their place. imagine if, in a future pikmin installment, you have to confront a human or a creature it's size.
Really love every “vulnerable” theme is more upbeat than the last in addition to more organic instruments overtaking the guitars, letting the player know they’re getting closer and closer to defeating the boss. There are some great nods like the Ice phase containing hints of the Primordial Thicket leitmotif (Because that's the area you fight the boss in) and the final “Vulnerable” theme being a remix of the one from Pikmin 3’s boss theme. This was also probably the best final boss in the series thus far.
The fast-paced nature of the boss mixed with all the insta kill attacks makes Ancient Sirehound the most insane Pikmin boss yet. Plus nobody expected metal music in a Pikmin game. By far the best in the series.

I lost 95 Pikmin on that bossfight, once I got to the gloom phase he annihilated my original squad of whites purple and ice, I got the glow seed out which thankfully I'd never used up before to refill to 100. Insane stuff.
@sonic176yt7 Pikmin 4 is a weird alternative timeline "what if" scenario for Pikmin 1 where Olimar ACTUALLY uses the Interstellar Radio to call for help (and there's also Moss there, because why not?), which eventually leads to events of Pikmin 2 and 3. I think.

I beat the game with no casualties (There were a few Glow Pikmin casualties, but their deaths dont get registered to the death count, so it doesnt count) 100 Glows entered the final boss but 4 died
Funny thing, i find this thing is more of a pitbull than anything Monster Hunter has ever put out. Well.. scratch that. The odogaron is still pretty much a pitbull.
Haven't seen anyone talk about it but the music that plays when the boss is vulnerable is a remix of the vulnerability music that plays during the Sandbelching Meerslug boss in Pikmin 3 That being said they did a great job with putting more music genres into the game and still make them sound like they belong even if you have no idea what the boss actually is. The vulnerability music and little sillier interludes/transitions where that trumpet comes back is just tell tale pikmin music and it's wonderful
I must say I like this final boss a lot and would have never expected metal music in my Pikmin game even though if you know how to fight him he's relatively easy but that doesn't mean he is not good at killing Pikmin the last phase with his instant death poison and scatter scream cost me more than half of my Pikmin which left me shocked.
@@ScaredSackless4566 I also like the titan dweevil because it scared me as a child and the concept of housing treasures with multiple elements. But it is straightforward to deafet use yellows for electricity and you don't have to worry about the rest. I guess the titan dweevil would be even more easy if electricity wasn't an Insta kill.
The electric phase and part of the final phase are in 5/4 time (or 10/8, i can't really tell) and I think the fact that they put that rhythm time in metal music is fucking insane
What really gets me is the first phase and ice phase, which I think may be in 15/16 and 17/8. There's also alot of meter changes leading into the vulnerable states. I sure do wonder who'll have the guts to cover this song lmbo
it might be a while before any comprehensive soundtrack gets uploaded, it seems like a ton of different enemy types add unique layers to the music which cant be easy to put together

I LOVE that they included odd time signatures into this, it really gives us insight into Louie’s mind. He’s a complete and utter lunatic, sure, but he’s also an absolute idiot. Yes, he did try to kill people who were trying to rescue him, (on two separate occasions,) but he’s so dumb he doesn’t even know WHAT he’s even doing half of the time. As the track goes on and you beat common sense back into him, the track slowly becomes more stable and regular, like he’s starting to realise what’s REALLY happening. But, eh, this whole thing’s a power trip and a half so he’s going to enjoy this at least for a LITTLE while longer.
I think one of my most favorite parts about this song is not only does it legit defy pikmin music, but the various rythm changes, and the fact that every single time the sirehound is vulnerable, you can here a similar leitmotif in each phase's vulnerable state
The fact this is so different to any other kind of music in Pikmin (in addition to what you're actually fighting) makes it pop all the more. Just watch out for those gloom puddles in the final phase :')
Unironically the best pikmin boss in all of the pikmin games, and pikmin 2 was my favorite. Only time i genuinely had trouble was the electric phase, didn't learn fast enough when he was open and took a couple of tries to realize I'm supposed to get rid of the thunder fuzzballs. Didn't help i didn't bring any yellow pikmin with me either.
This so out of place for a pikmin game, and I love it. Just looking at the thumbnail and hearing this kind of music play over it is amazing to say the least.

Pro tip: during the Fire phase, trick Louie into shooting fireballs at the burning hairballs by standing in front of one and dodging. They’ll explode and make a shockwave, but if you jump over it and detonate all of them, it’ll be much more manageable when he starts making the Sirehound do shockwave sumo stomps.
i love how pikmin can just have a complete tonal shift from the rest of the game and have it work so well a disco spider that plays party music and uses airhorns and dances around? sure thing. a giant menacing dog with heavy metal controled by louie that is like bowser with a 5 stage boss fight using an insta kill hazard in the final phase? why not. a cave you can only use blues in with varies hazard types and creepy ambiance that leads to being chased by an extradimensional steamroller? yeah that works they really seem to know how to make something weird for the series and do it like; perfectly i do know some people arent a big fan of this boss cause of the heavy metal and how different it is but i think it comes together really well. space dogs are a big focus of the game and are sort of what the game focuses around really (pikmin 1 it was the shipwreck; 2 it was the debt; 3 it was the food supply and now its castaways and space dogs) so having the final boss be the ultimate castaway (louie) on the spaciest dog in all of space checks out really well also i dont think the element thing needs any explanation; its sort of out of nowhere but cmon man; rule of cool
This music caught me so off guard when I reached this boss. Honestly, this and the Groovy Long Legs were probably my favorite boss fights in the game. I was kind of disappointed that there weren't as many original bosses in this game compared to some of the previous Pikmin games. You can only fight Emperor Bulblax so many times...

@@looney1023But this boss is piss easy with 2 purples, which you will always have due to the Water Wraith floor, and a bunch of Glow Pikmin, removing a lot of the testing of using different Pikmin types. In 3, all the Pikmin were useful, and just using rocks would not be the optimal strategy due to how slow that can be and the fact you are still on the clock for the fight and don’t want to waste time for mere safety.
Most of this Boss was surprisingly easy, but without destroying the Fire or Electro Furballs and keeping distance in his final phase when he yells, you can lose a ton of Pikmin. Plus, if you don't buy any immunities or upgrades whatsoever, this fight is still quite a challenge, especially that electro phase!
Groovy Long Legs music is more a beat with some slight synth added. Ancient Sirehound meanwhile sounds like a full on Kirby boss theme. Both are really good pieces though.@@krubbington
When you take the adaptive music Pikmin is known for, and replace all the pianos and brass with guitar and drums, this is what you get and it sounds amazing. Admittedly, its not the most dynamic track in Pikmin, but its metal, so who cares, its incredible either way.
Such an awesome game. The story was simple but effective, great gameplay, awesome soundtrack, and was just overall insanely charming. Sure it was a little easy, but there was enough challenge in certain areas to keep things fresh. Really felt like a complete game packed with content, which unfortunately I guess the standard has been lowered from many modern games. Hoping Pikmin 5 will eventually exist, ideally within the reasonable future.

I love how each Final Boss theme gives you a different sense of dread. Pikmin 1 : _Extremely ominous, extremely foreboding. That creature is massive and needs so many bombs to take out!_ Pikmin 2 : _Beyond frightening. A creature is using man made objects to wipe out your whole squad. High Stress while trying to methodically take out weapon by weapon._ Pikmin 3 : _An almost whimsical cosmic theme which you can't get a grasp on as if you literally cant grab hold onto it. Extremely Mysterious sounding._ Hey Pikmin! : _Literally a Kirby final boss theme. It keeps on getting even more high stakes as the boss keeps refusing to die. Goes way too hard for a simple spinoff_ Pikmin 4 : *_THE AIR IS PURE ENERGY, THOSE GNARLY RIFTS JUST STRIKE HOME HOW IMPOSING THIS BEAST IS. Honestly its a blend of each theme before it._*

Ok, this is good😂 When I fought the boss I used up all 70 of my glow seeds trying to keep up. Too relatable!
I lost 95 Pikmin on that bossfight, once I got to the gloom phase he annihilated my original squad of whites purple and ice, I got the glow seed out which thankfully I'd never used up before to refill to 100. Insane stuff.

I beat it deathless, then went back to test Glow, but it didn't respawn

Not the kind of music I expected from a Pikmin final boss, but considering the utter danger this one poses, it's pretty appropriate.
Seriously, that electric phase is really hard to survive without Pikmin getting killed! if you don't use Glow Pikmin
the smoky phase makes it almost impossible to not lose pikmin at least electricity doesn't insta kill like pikmin 2
I beat the game with no casualties (There were a few Glow Pikmin casualties, but their deaths dont get registered to the death count, so it doesnt count)
100 Glows entered the final boss but 4 died
I actually didn't use glow pikmin in the final battle...unless you count me throwing about 5 into a candypop bud.

Haven't seen anyone talk about it but the music that plays when the boss is vulnerable is a remix of the vulnerability music that plays during the Sandbelching Meerslug boss in Pikmin 3
That being said they did a great job with putting more music genres into the game and still make them sound like they belong even if you have no idea what the boss actually is. The vulnerability music and little sillier interludes/transitions where that trumpet comes back is just tell tale pikmin music and it's wonderful
I must say I like this final boss a lot and would have never expected metal music in my Pikmin game even though if you know how to fight him he's relatively easy but that doesn't mean he is not good at killing Pikmin the last phase with his instant death poison and scatter scream cost me more than half of my Pikmin which left me shocked.

@@ScaredSackless4566 I also like the titan dweevil because it scared me as a child and the concept of housing treasures with multiple elements. But it is straightforward to deafet use yellows for electricity and you don't have to worry about the rest. I guess the titan dweevil would be even more easy if electricity wasn't an Insta kill.

The electric phase and part of the final phase are in 5/4 time (or 10/8, i can't really tell) and I think the fact that they put that rhythm time in metal music is fucking insane

What really gets me is the first phase and ice phase, which I think may be in 15/16 and 17/8. There's also alot of meter changes leading into the vulnerable states. I sure do wonder who'll have the guts to cover this song lmbo

I LOVE that they included odd time signatures into this, it really gives us insight into Louie’s mind. He’s a complete and utter lunatic, sure, but he’s also an absolute idiot. Yes, he did try to kill people who were trying to rescue him, (on two separate occasions,) but he’s so dumb he doesn’t even know WHAT he’s even doing half of the time. As the track goes on and you beat common sense back into him, the track slowly becomes more stable and regular, like he’s starting to realise what’s REALLY happening. But, eh, this whole thing’s a power trip and a half so he’s going to enjoy this at least for a LITTLE while longer.
I think one of my most favorite parts about this song is not only does it legit defy pikmin music, but the various rythm changes, and the fact that every single time the sirehound is vulnerable, you can here a similar leitmotif in each phase's vulnerable state

The fact this is so different to any other kind of music in Pikmin (in addition to what you're actually fighting) makes it pop all the more. Just watch out for those gloom puddles in the final phase :')

Unironically the best pikmin boss in all of the pikmin games, and pikmin 2 was my favorite.
Only time i genuinely had trouble was the electric phase, didn't learn fast enough when he was open and took a couple of tries to realize I'm supposed to get rid of the thunder fuzzballs. Didn't help i didn't bring any yellow pikmin with me either.
basically had the same thing happen to me but I actually had yellows.
If you don't have yellow you can easily use your Glow Pikmin seeds since they're immune to all elements. That's what I did.
Same thing with me, but i just took everyone back to the beginning and broke them with Oatchi and it wasn't too bad

Pro tip: during the Fire phase, trick Louie into shooting fireballs at the burning hairballs by standing in front of one and dodging. They’ll explode and make a shockwave, but if you jump over it and detonate all of them, it’ll be much more manageable when he starts making the Sirehound do shockwave sumo stomps.
I love that you are referring to trick Louie and not the Sirehound itself, knowing well its not the sirehound making these actions thats for sure.

i love how pikmin can just have a complete tonal shift from the rest of the game and have it work so well
a disco spider that plays party music and uses airhorns and dances around? sure thing. a giant menacing dog with heavy metal controled by louie that is like bowser with a 5 stage boss fight using an insta kill hazard in the final phase? why not. a cave you can only use blues in with varies hazard types and creepy ambiance that leads to being chased by an extradimensional steamroller? yeah that works
they really seem to know how to make something weird for the series and do it like; perfectly
i do know some people arent a big fan of this boss cause of the heavy metal and how different it is but i think it comes together really well. space dogs are a big focus of the game and are sort of what the game focuses around really (pikmin 1 it was the shipwreck; 2 it was the debt; 3 it was the food supply and now its castaways and space dogs) so having the final boss be the ultimate castaway (louie) on the spaciest dog in all of space checks out really well
also i dont think the element thing needs any explanation; its sort of out of nowhere but cmon man; rule of cool

This music caught me so off guard when I reached this boss. Honestly, this and the Groovy Long Legs were probably my favorite boss fights in the game. I was kind of disappointed that there weren't as many original bosses in this game compared to some of the previous Pikmin games. You can only fight Emperor Bulblax so many times...
I was NOT expecting this for a Pikmin boss theme and yet it fits perfectly. Best final boss in the series!

@@looney1023But this boss is piss easy with 2 purples, which you will always have due to the Water Wraith floor, and a bunch of Glow Pikmin, removing a lot of the testing of using different Pikmin types. In 3, all the Pikmin were useful, and just using rocks would not be the optimal strategy due to how slow that can be and the fact you are still on the clock for the fight and don’t want to waste time for mere safety.
I adore this boss theme. It’s so high energy and action packed.
The flying variation of the music is lucky it’s my favorite cuz I was stuck on that phase for a while lol
Most of this Boss was surprisingly easy, but without destroying the Fire or Electro Furballs and keeping distance in his final phase when he yells, you can lose a ton of Pikmin. Plus, if you don't buy any immunities or upgrades whatsoever, this fight is still quite a challenge, especially that electro phase!
This OST reminds me of Paper Mario Sticker Star/Origami King. Metal works surprisingly well in both Paper Mario and Pikmin.

When you take the adaptive music Pikmin is known for, and replace all the pianos and brass with guitar and drums, this is what you get and it sounds amazing.
Admittedly, its not the most dynamic track in Pikmin, but its metal, so who cares, its incredible either way.

Such an awesome game. The story was simple but effective, great gameplay, awesome soundtrack, and was just overall insanely charming. Sure it was a little easy, but there was enough challenge in certain areas to keep things fresh. Really felt like a complete game packed with content, which unfortunately I guess the standard has been lowered from many modern games. Hoping Pikmin 5 will eventually exist, ideally within the reasonable future.

Pikmin 2 : _Beyond frightening. A creature is using man made objects to wipe out your whole squad. High Stress while trying to methodically take out weapon by weapon._
Pikmin 3 : _An almost whimsical cosmic theme which you can't get a grasp on as if you literally cant grab hold onto it. Extremely Mysterious sounding._
