This speaks volumes about the seller. I shudder to think of what kind of environment do they live in.
Sometimes you can live in a pristine environment cleaned by a germaphobe with OCD and still get them. The live underground. The key is keeping them there.
Ive saddly seen way worse
Roaches doesn’t mean dirty bro
@@slaydog5102 Yeah, they do.
@@slaydog5102Yes it does, sounds to me you speak from experience so that's unfortunate you need to cope but yes roaches literally have dirt on them wtf are you takin bout
When I use to work in PC repair for a decade, had someone bring in a desktop that they left inside a house after it was bombed for roaches. Not sure what in their right mind thought we would try and fix it.
Unrelated but the worst desktop brought into our shop was a brand new build where the customer sprayed WD-40 in all sockets before inserting parts. (CPU, GPU, RAM)
Seeing their reaction after telling them everything toast and good luck returning them, comical to say the least.
If this ever happens to you.. with anything (computer, clothes, etc)
1) buy large black trash bags (like "raking leaves" size bags), be sure they're black
2) stuff everything into them, tie them tight so nothing can escape
3) set them out under the sun for like a week to cook.. or if hot in your garage during summer put them there to bake
4) after stuffing the trashbags, go in and wash your clothes and take a shower. If there's roaches, chance are there might be bed bugs, too.
The sun / heat will cook the shit out of everything in the black bag. If it's clothing, etc, then pull it out and immediately wash it, preferably with bleach if possible. (CAnt' bleach everything).
For electronics, pull it apart and clean it out. If you see ANYTHING still moving, shove it back into black trashbags and cook it for another week.
Wife and I use this trick when coming back from vacations just in case bed bugs come back with us. Shove our whole luggage inside black trash bags and just let it bake for a week.
I've done it to PC's before, too... that I picked up near dumpsters that had "questionable" bedding chucked out next to it.
Don't leave that stuff sitting out open near your house. Seal it up and let it cook.
They're just happy that you're outside.
They're asking you questions about the computer. The birds are
Wow. Perhaps the most unique and funny (sorry) tech video I've seen in awhile.
Very real, entertaining, instructive, and terrifying...all at the same time.
Don't think LinusTechTips or JayzTwoCents have come close to this one.
they don't mess with the junk i find lol...
After you got the board out, Idve probably dipped the whole assembly in alcohol (I'm talking completely submerged all the way to the top of the cpu cooler). Let it set for 5 minutes, pull it out, let it air dry for a few days before messing with it.
My buddy used to buy old electronics from yard sales and swap meets and he would always tent and bug bomb before he would bring it in the shop to tear it down.
I'll add another layer to the infestation issue. As a school technologist, I see all sorts of things, but the worst thing I've seen is a Chromebook that was infested with bed bugs! Of course, I didn't know it until I opened the bottom cover. They ran everywhere coming out of that thing. I did my best to put it in a bag and seal it up, but some escaped to who knows where. Needless to say, that unit was never repaired.
Chromebook ... Burn it ... UNCLEAN! 😂😂😂
Lovely. Customer must spend all of their time in their manky bed with the laptop sitting on the bed itself.
Man. Roaches are bad enough. Bed bugs are harder to get rid of and they bite. They bite a LOT. I had them once and now I get anxiety just thinking about it.
🤮Wow! Bro bought a Beard Nest Computer!
Instead of ATI Rage, they sold you ATI Roach.
Rage?? Your age is showing
@@SomeAngryGuy1997 I didn't even know that name existed. They should make another card named rage. People would love that now lol
@@ArtisChronicles Definitely 😁
I've only had system come in that had dead cockroaches, never live. But I did get in a system with a bed bug infestation. I put the damn thing in a bag and notified the client.
🙂 Bed Bugs u say, thats interesting
@@MrSamadolfoyup... Bed bugs are attracted to anything that emanates heat.
@@XWolf0f0dinX they're also attracted to carbon dioxide, why those traps using Alka Seltzer actually work.
Good old brake cleaner does the job. It kills the bugs pretty fast and dries up nicely. Also cleans the parts
Man, they put thermal paste that could been used for at least 15 applications
Better too much than too little. Especially for any direct die application as opposed to a cpu heat spreader.
Haha the birds in the background are prolly waiting for those roaches. To them it’s a excellent source of protein 😅😂
That is one bird making all the racket. You are hearing a Mockingbird.
I've had this same crap happen. Bought a system, got it home, and as soon as I open it I start seeing roaches. Thankfully I got it out of the house and didn't have any issues. I definitely pop open every system for a check after that scare.
With this luck, I'd make a plexiglass crate for picking up computer parts and use that to get rid of any surprises. This channel already inspired me to pick up a dusty rx5700 for twenty dollars, and I ordered a hot air station and an LCR meter among other soldering tools to find its issue. Who knows what I can run into down the line!
I am glad to see you took the hazard advice of blowing the PC outside before carrying it inside the garage. Imaging if you had to go thru this inside the garage... I could have been much worst is what I am trying to say. And buy something nice for the wife 😁
"The PC's infected with Killer Cockroaches! RUN!" 😸
🤣🤣🤣
Loved the birds in the background.
As soon as you said roach I thought... well its time to burn the house down. Same reaction I have when I see a spider. :)
Had roaches infested computers few times, or just simply crazy dirty ones (cobwebs and dirt inside) never really cared to much, just had to kill or get rid of roaches to prevent home infestation. Although I grew up at times when roaches were almost everywhere.
I grew up in an old building, where my mother still lives, and that building has roach infestation.
"It's been a couple hours later and the entire computer is in the dump." That was funny. It might not have been worth saving but it was worth recording it on video. Fun watch. Break from the usual. Thank you and keep up the good content.
You can try to flash the UEFI/BIOS using a CH341A adapter. I saved a few motherboards by flashing the memory chip on the motherboard.
As far a I can see, your one and only mistake was telling your wife at all.
FACTS 😏
Telling "her" he was scared of roaches and acting like a little girl.
You get quite a lot of roach infested pc's on this channel and I love it. Keep up the hard work :).
If they were swapping CPUs, they knew about the roaches. Could have been worse though, bedbugs. I had one, bought at a flea market, that had BBs in it. I didn't know until I got it home. Bad move. 3 months later and a lot of money we finally got rid of them. That happened about 3 years ago. Now, nothing goes in the truck or car, until I check it as much as possible. I took a pretty big loss on that system.
That's horrible.
@@exzld yes it was
Yeah bed bugs are nasty 🤢. I'd rather have roaches.
If they were swapping CPUs, they also knew the system was non-functional.
Still worth it...Just don't bring that stuff in your house. I can see an opportunity.. PC flipping and bug cleaning services as a business. 🤣
hope all gets better man
I've had this issue with used and Ewaste PCs before. After the first time, I pick up my truck which is normally used for camping and fishing and leave it in the drive way with the truck covered and a few roach motels inside. One in the case itself and another 3 in the cabin. Never had a roach move inside the home since.
only way to really deal with this sort of thing is toss it, or dump some borax powder in a bag or air tight bin large enough to hold whatever, put the thing in there, and seal it for 2-3 months.
you can use bug bombs for clothes and such, and just seal it for a month, but that stuff will damage plastics in electronics.
I use a large cardboard box to disassemble suspect machines, AFTER having said machine kept overnight in a sealed plastic bag outside. After all that a leafblower ensures no critters before contained disassembly, PS4's seem extra likely to house vermin as opposed to most P.C.'s for whatever reason in my experiences.
😊 yes i mentioned that also to be careful picking up consoles and appliances including Microwaves Stoves Fridges
Id definitely say the motherboard, cpu, ram, and gpu were salvageable as you can easily clean those parts well after out the case. If this was a Core 2 Duo era system or something I would have definitely walked away, but these parts were still worth their time to clean them.
This happened to me once. Honestly I knew what I was getting into from the trashy photos, but it was worth a lot in parts. I double bagged it. Then I wasn't sure wtf to do to kill the roaches. I've ruined plastics with bug spray before, so I didn't want to do that. The answer hit me on the way home in my hot car while waiting for the AC to cool it down. I just left it in the car and let the heat kill them. When I opened it up, they were all dead. So, I guess thats one way to do it, if this happens again.
I used to find ones in winter too where I would let the freezing cold kill them outside overnight too. Frozen roachsicles! 🤢🤮😆 Both methods in both seasons works pretty well. 👍👍
@@arthurmann578 i guess we're f'ed in fall and spring lol. It was pretty gross cleaning it up, but overall easy money. Would do it again but not for cheap parts. Gotta be at least a few hundo in it.
@@ItIsNot1984 Definitely! The absolute grossness has to be worth it. 👍👍
Sounds like something a gigolo would say about some of his female "clients." 😂😂😂😅
Spray heatsink fan combo with raid.
What motherboard is this?
I recall watching a video of someone who had some kind of bug infestation in a vehicle. What they did was get a fairly high output Ozone Generator in the vehicle, roll up the windows and turn it on--basically they killed the bugs & sanitized the inside of the vehicle with gaseous bleach (O3) in one fell swoop!!! This method could be used for gassing a PC by placing it in a large plastic bag and piping the Ozone gas into it to kill & sanitize... also neutralizes all smells & scents. Ozone also neutralizes skunkweed--I had to use it on a rental car...took about 45 minutes or so to do the job.
One very eye-catching title on this video! 💀
I used to flip game consoles and this was something that was always a risk. I had a couple close calls, but thankfully nothing ever happened. The profit margin was good part time. I’d gather about 30 or more through the year, fix them, and sell them all on Christmas. Sold them all in two weeks and made a profit average of $60 per hour and a total of over $3,000. It paid a good amount of our Disney vacation every year. However, after years of doing it, I realized the risk is not worth it! All it takes is one time and the infestation will ruin the entire house for a long time. They just don’t ever completely go away from what I’ve heard. It takes several treatments and it’s disgusting as hell! Not worth it every one!
i used a dell case similar to that for my VR PC build. has a erying motherboard with a i9 11980hk. tbf i like the style of the case and the fact that dell didnt use proprietary plugs
Prebuilt she really only support the generation cpu it came with. Sometimes you can get lucky and flash a custom bios that will allow you to maybe go up a generation but definitely not. Off the parts you should be able to make your money back!
Brake Cleaner or Electrical Cleaner kills bugs DEAD!
With a PC like this I put it in a plastic bag, take some bug spray and spray it in and close the bag up and leave it for a bit. When the big ones are all clear you need to disassemble the machine and clean it part by part, clearing out the bugs as you go, this is very common place as PC's are a hot dark place to multiply. But you did it right where you took it outside to the trash cans and did your cleaning there.
Title worked. I'm here. I can help you feel better about your situation. A few years ago (during curbside only pickup) my wife and I decided to save some money by buying a used coffee maker/grinder. No big deal we figured, I'm pretty meticulous about cleaning anyway.
Picked up the coffee maker, cleaned it all out, poured the beans attempted to make a pot. Way too much steam after the brew. Coffee didn't taste bad though.
Opened it to inspect and it was full of roaches. Thankfully all dead. But they were also in water and boiler channels. We realized we had drank roach coffee, and worse we thought it was ok.
We had never even thought about the possibility of roaches. So as much as we like deals,. anything that makes food or drink regardless of how thorough I believe I am at cleaning.. it's never second hand..
I hope this made you feel better about your PC deal.
I have a coffee maker and I can't figure out how roaches would be inside the machine
@@LPgmxDan it was a grinder/brewer so there were some electronics/mechanical space. Which is where they were.
@@Eric79-f7i oh yeah grinder would be a place for them to hide if it wasn't in a regularly cleaned place might of been sitting for awhile
@@LPgmxDan Yeah we try not to mention roach coffee around the house. It's our taboo subject lol.
@@Eric79-f7i understandable subject to not mention daily :)
I worry about eggs the most. 120 F degrees of heat will kill the eggs. I once used a metal box in the middle of my backyard on a used PC left it there in the middle of August for three day then I cleaned it.
Note that motherboard, has a different pinout for the 24 pin... its not standard
Nothing will test the patience and tolerance of the missus quite like bringing a roach-infested PC into the house and working on it. 😆 They love the warmth, so it can happen with game consoles as well. I've also had PCs infested with ants.
We need a roach channel pic. New mascot in the making.
I’m fortunate enough to live in the Inland Northwest, on the Wa/Id border. I’ve never seen a cockroach in the wild in my 40 years.
I have worked on a few dell's over the years and have had those issues, I found taking out the mem and cmos battery and leave it overnight, that gives the bios time to be wiped
When i pulled my old inspiron 5676 with the same specs apart to re-case i had to use the whole original power button section as it has some sort of security on it and wouldn’t boot without it, i wired the new case button to the original and it worked after this. This is likely your issue and since you have thrown out the case im assuming you no longer have the button which sucks. If you somehow can get the power button section back to test i reckon it will work
OEMs aren't repair friendly
Theres nothing like scoring a good deal on some used parts, its like a sore dihk, you cant beat it.
@2:04 THATS HOW THE TABS BREAK ON GPU'S... PC BUILDERS TAKE NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This dude literally just yanked the GPU / ripped the GPU out of there like it was nothing 😂😂😂 I can do this with mine only cuz my motherboard lock tab broke on the actual PCI Express slot itself which is no big deal... Random edit a month later I know I am crazy don't tell me. Forgot add to this, unless you plan on shaking your PC with it on then I think you're good without the locking tab! Lool
BRO....what did i just watch...And it wasnt even as if it was like a easy pull....Dude was literally yanking on that bitch... Like the locking tab was just a second thought.... Hey guys...here we have a Radeon yadda yadda yadda.... Errrr.... actually guys we did have a Radeon Gpu... But i just sheared half the PCB and gold pins off by yanking on that bitch at an angle..... 🤣🤣🤣🤣... Fair do's if its an outdated old redundant card but in my eyes that dont matter, it is still a working GPU that someone may be able to use for a testbench, old reliable gpus man, sometimes worth there weight in gold, not literally tho guys, Just for a picture tester... A back up card if you like..... And his last words were i'll try to save the video card and motherboard.... Errrmmmm Guys...does anybody know why this Gpu may not be working....🤣🤣.
Comes with anything used really. I always leave it in a hefty bag for 2 weeks with a bug treatment. That gives the eggs if any time to hatch, and use Diatomaceous earth if it isn't electronics. Don't use the d-earth on electronics though, learned that the hard way.
the birds are a nice touch :) its beautiful
you could find or build a sealable box. buy pc and it goes immediately in the box with a bug bomb , seal it up and wait a couple days.
I think someone used a whole year's production of thermal paste on that CPU. I've seen some bad ones over nearly 25 years, but nothing like that. I'm actually surprised it didn't over heat due to a gap with that amount.
Those dells top out at the r7 2700x. The ryzen 5 4500 wont work on that board. I know mine came with a r5 1400 quadcore.
I’ve had a similar experience to this, I was given a xbox one s with bed bugs in it. I was not too happy to see that
Dell motherboards can be picky about CPUs, even to the matter of whether it's the X variant of Ryzen or not. I heard this may be due to the special microcode firmware flashed in these boards, it differs from the similar retail motherboards.
Man, the things you do for youtube to get a good video 😆😁
Check the motherboard's cpu list and bios, it could have a bios installed that doesn't support the 1700 or 4500 cpu's. There was a bios that killed off support for older cpu's on AM4 motherboards and it could have been released before the 4500 was released..
I had one of those type of computer I took everything apart and cleaned it up really good I still use the case today yet I just took apart the entire case down to its metal frame
OMG, I had the same thing happen to me but my house got infested. Had a client who I sold a computer to tell me it stopped working so I asked him to drop it off at my home. He handed it to me and I left it in the garage over night. I knew I had a problem when I went to open it and saw it also had roach poo inside. Little shits were crawling out the power supply. Shortly after i started to notice them in my kitchen and bathroom. GERMAN ROACHES! It took 3 weeks and $150 worth of roach killer to finally get rid of them. Also had to clean everything in my kitchen. Let's just say I told the client I would never work on his computers again.
That's the most literal computer debug I've ever seen 🤔
Dude it's roaches, quit being a baby. Take the shit out of the case, clean it, get over it. Act like a roach in your garage is gunna get you a divorce.
A great spray is cv-80D it will kill any bug!!!!
I would figure the PSU would be the nest
clean the video card incorrectly, because if the fan rotates, static electricity is formed, which can permanently damage the video card
Should have made a little tent and fumigate it for a couple of days
My buddy used to buy old and scrap electrics for parts and he did that everytime he got a big haul.
i'm sorry that happened man, hope things work out man
Ill always buy used for just extra parts etc. But for my personal rig, i buy new. The used market is a great spot to get some bad ass deals. A buddy of mine got a kingpin edition 3090 for 450 last weekon FB marketplace... I was jealous i aint gonna lie..
I enjoy your videos, keep on keepin on bro, do you, eff the haters. Later brother.
Great content for homeoffice. Tell the roach I said hello!
That whole thing is salvageable. Tight plastic bag and 8 hours on the dash of your car windows up. Black bags work best. After 6-8 hours, as long as the temp exceeded 120 degrees F for at least 6 hours, they will die and eggs will cook.
Judy Tenuda used to tell the story that every morning when she woke up she would go to the kitchen and take a multivitamin. Once in a while she would drop one and it would roll behind the refrigerator. She said she fully expected to get up one morning and find a 6-foot 2-inch cockroach wearing three pairs of Adidas and saying I feel good!
Repairing a PC on the top of a rubbish bin. Used to have to do that as a on-site warranty tech for major brands. 🤣
I'd be glad I wasn't an cable TV installer having to wire up their house, the sort on raised stilts and they have 6 little dogs that shit & pee everywhere you need to run the cable.
Trust me bro, the seller knew. Probably a house full of smokers and people who don't throw away their food wrappers/cans/etc.
Some people are too lazy so they just live sad lives
technician here i ashure you you dont need to live nasty to get germans iv treated many multimillion dollar homes that had them and were absolutely spotless they are hitchhiker bugs they can come from your grocery store off boxes from a friend who stays the night its crazy how a person can get them even while doing everything right. now that out the way the level of infestation i would say they at least knew they had an issue
I bought one like this before and it probably had 75 or more inside...It was awful, it took forever to kill all those bugs and clean things up.
I bought a roach infested 5675 as well for my girlfriend a couple christmas ago. That outer shell is no fun to clean
I've seen worse 😅 , but still you wonder what the persons house must be like ...
honestly i would toss it cause the cost to get rid of roaches vs what you would make on the pc just wouldn't justify the risk so personally i would toss it and go to the next find
always look inside a used pc before taking it in your house
If it’s from Manhattan then buy a fogger bug spray and keep it in a closed container then go to a botanica and get a witch doctor to bless you a good luck
I had the most disgusting computer i bought. It was in a room with multiple smokers, and it had bug running around. Blasted that thing with bug killer and 2 cans of cleaner and spent about 8 hours cleaning everything. Was worth it in the end i doubled my money.
Supposedly, the blower version of this card is better than the subsequent third-party versions.
Nothing like a roach motel! You need to sing Born Free when releasing roaches into the wild!
The roach poop gives out smell mostly when it's in contact with moisture-sensitive materials... That's why it's rather obvious when they're in wooden panel doors, cardboard boxes and furniture made of MDF/plywood. If you ever smell that on a PC you know there must be a complete ecosystem inside 😂
Ah man the way you snatched that gpu
The birds calm me down while watching
Don't feel bad it can happen, be careful
Diatomaceous Earth could be used as a barrier around your home on the outside. But you could also store the pc inside a plastic container and create a line/barrier of Diatomaceous Earth around the container. Any roaches that get out will die within days of this happening. It is a very cheap natural remedy for insect infestation. Diatomaceous Earth is also very cheap like 10$ for 5 pounds of it from walmart.
You need to get an ultrasonic cleaner, it would be so much easier to clean those parts!
Roches + PSU = Bang.....
Had a Horabble place we moved into seen a few Roches.. we had it fumigated. and the Roches where outside and we ended up moveing.
We had someone who transported Chemicals use his big truck to move our Gear and the Fumes from the Gas's actualy killed all the Roces in our stuff lol. did't see any more after that. only see a few Wood Roches now nothing bad there not like German Roaces. Thank God.
Had a similar pickup from Roseboro, NC about 2 years ago. Don't know how people live like that.
Killer channel. I dig your style.
If you do this long enough you're going to run into the roach situation once or twice. I keep a Glad trash bag and a can of bug spray for these ones. I pop off the side panel spray everything inside of the bag and let it sit for a day or two in the heat. Clean everything with alcohol the next day and hit it with the blow dryer. The seller did scam you but if you had been able to salvage the case and PSU you could have made the most out of the deal. I would have taken apart the PSU, cleaned and painted the case if needed, added a cheap SSD, and found a cheap CPU on eBay. Sometimes you have to make the best out of a bad deal.
Ohhh god pfui when i Realize something Like this man this think will fly out on the streets
Yeah, no still too close to your house. I keep my trash cans on the outer perimeter of my fence line just in case roaches become attracted. It’s wild that they sheltered in place even with disassembling the PC until you sprayed it.
This mobo may suport only 3xxx series ryzen only (I have similar OEM). Try r5 3600.
Someone should create a brand of bug spray meant specificaly for cleaning used electronics and call it "The Debugger". BTW. For a first round of cleaning pure IPA is not always the best. Some stuff, comes off better if there is some water mixed in. I like to use 70%. Then only at the end rinse well with pure alcohol.
Roaches are gross but that's the gamble as you said. Love the channel and content!
