- In this video I discuss approaches you can take in order to try and build up the sound and accuracy in your keytaps which will help out with timing. Once again this video took up way more man hours than it should have to complete and I hope that you enjoy watching!

halfing bpm+keyhitting 16ths vs 8ths is something that ive been trying to convey to people but havent been able to fully elaborate as well as this video does. thanks for this.
My master has been trying to explain the importance of harder key taps since i hit the 9 wall. The only reason I got over it was because I was chasing him since I started at 3s and 4s and he was right there at 10s. But ever since I hit the 10 wall and hes started to gear up for 11s I've been terrified of getting left behind. Took your advice and practiced with slow songs at home. Went to his house earlier and did soooo much better. Now I see why he got so good so fast. Consider me subbed. Thanks for the help DARQs.
Even though my technique sucks, for some reason I find that the harder I tap the seemingly better I time. I think its because I can hear the key and can feel the feedback.
I don't personally use a lot of randoms, but I understand their value to players. It's a nice way to learn more patterns and become comfortable with them.
The reason I'm hesistant to use randoms is that I'm not a sure if at the level I'm at (clearing mid level 10s) if I need to be concerned about either fishing for randoms or just randoming 7s 8s and 9s are worth it for me. The only songs I random right now are scale heavy songs (Kakumei 7k) or songs that I absolutely hate playing the non-random chart for (Pharoh 7k).
random is very fun to play!!
i personally only use random on charts i can clear on non-ran or mirror. i feel like while the majority of randoms are harder, there's still the potential to get an easier random and i consider someone unable to clear a song on non-ran/mirror but able to clear it after grinding for a good random not as skilled as someone able to play the chart on nonran/mirror. now with that being said random is an almost essential tool for progression, as it helps you recognize and play different patterns and everyone should use it.
Do you still feel this "hitting the keys super hard" is as valid now that many arcades use lighter switches?
Given how things have shifted, i.e., the change in key weights, the increase in density etc it's partially true. PHN!X has spoken about this concept of "snapping" your fingers as opposed to smashing the keys. This apparently is the optimal approach to timing. I might potentially do a followup to discuss this further.
Thanks for the videos. I would recommend any music you include in the video should be kept at a lower volume. I found it difficult to focus on your voice over the vocals and the volume of the tracks that were playing.
yeah that was my bad for using a song with vocals this time around. I'll stick to non vocal tracks from now on

TAQ - Bounce Connected?
I have a feeling that random is cheating when it's easier than the basic chart and that it's your nightmare when the patterns are idiotic like double scales or slaps which I hate. However, it would be prudent to admit that playing random at least 20 mins a day, even on lower difficulties than you can, might help you to improve pattern recognition but! it works with patterns that require simultaneous button presses like 1-3-5-7 or 2-4-6 ( and in case of randon it would be something like 1-2-3, 1-2-4, 1-2-5 etc) . Playing random also helped me to improve those ''piano patterns'' as I used to call them which are repeatedly pressed 6-7 or 1-2. So, random is a good thing to help you improve your skills, yet I don't play it seriously because I'm that "default" kind of guy - if the devs created it this way to enjoy - then I should do it this way.
