Kramnik backing Niemann in this is the weirdest twist ever. But I guess Kramnik and Carlsen don't like each other.
In his interview with Gotham chess, Kramnick explained that he got to meet Niemann IRL, they've talked quite a bit and Kramnick became sympathetic to Niemann.

Kramnik once refused to play against him online because of the cheating rumors, Hans then convinced Kramnik to play some training games with him in person and I guess that convinced Kramnik that he wasn't cheating and actually is really good.

Hans thinks he's a superstar. However, he has the mental maturity and the manners of a juvenile.
Are you criticizing a teenager (who is now 21) for having bad manners after being dragged through the mud for several years? All because the best chess player to ever exist decided to throw a tantrum after losing a match to you otb? How would you act in that situation at his age? Would you smile and take all of the bead jokes and false cheating otb accusations every single time you play a game? How about after hundreds of thousands of people from the community you grew up in also join in on the bullying curtesy of super GM UA-cam channels laughing and also making jokes at your expense? What about if several mainstream media sites smear your name and write absurd hit pieces based on redacted “evidence” by a chessCom website that runs most of the highest level tournaments in the community. Would you still be good mannered and smile in public when placed in front of that community?
Even if you have decided because he cheated online a couple times at 12 and 16, that Hans should never play chess again (which is childish and flawed), to criticize his manners and “ego” is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. If anything it’s impressive that he has fought through all of that stuff he was forced to endure and is now in the top 20 of chess players in the world. How many people do you think would manage to do that? And all because the superstar of chess decided to throw a tantrum after losing an otb match.
People like you who criticize his behavior and “ego” are total hypocrites or are so blind to reality that you cannot even consider the reality of what happened.

+1. Technically, agreeing to play a prearranged game to a draw is cheating according to the new Fide. A while ago Dubov and Nepo got busted on just this ground. Though according to chess tradition a pre-arranged draw is not a big deal, and I've heard the card game "Magic a Gathering" also allows pre-arranged 'draws' of sorts without penalty.
hans niemann, over the course of the past several years, has demonstrated that he is unable to interact with other people in a decent way. one might have hoped that he would become more mature. evidently not.

what a lame game. as a french defense player I've seen this too often. if white doesn't collapse due to emotional incompetence the position has to be drawn. I don't understand how people play that sort of chess and say it was more complex than checkers. this game was shit.
