Please listen more closely to the sermons of John Macarthur. He talks very, very little about himself. What he talks about sermon after sermon, is the greatness of Christ. He exults Christ, never himself. Please be fair in your criticisms.
You are totally wrong with your hatred against those who hold the doctrine of reformers , the good part about reformers is that they don't compromise when it comes to sinning they will act immediately and remove you from your responsibility unlike the charismatic pentecostal church who hide and compromise about there sins that said we are not happy what happened to Steve if he had literally sinned of course his Christianity must be questioned, the fact of the matter is that all those who call them self true Christian will be tempted but they will not literally sinned
I first met Steve Lawson for 25+ years and have shared the same platforms with him in the past. I know him to be a Godly man who, like us all, even our own Lord, is tested and tempted in ever way. Many persons are implying their own definition of "Inappropriate Relationship" to mean a physical relationship which would be defined as Adultery. We do not know the nature of this Inappropriate Relationship so I would encourage us all to wait patiently before we pick up a stone. I am certain that in his own timing, Dr. Lawson will make a public statement but he is not required to do this as this would merely be done as a courtesy if he chooses to do so. I have known many of the Reformed Pastor of yesterday and I can agree with much of your summations. They give the air of superiority which can be and is disturbing. In pray for Pastor Steve, his wife Anne and the Family.
Thanks for your take on this news. I look at it as how the old saying is “ how the mighty have falling”. The issue is mainly so many people look at church leaders more then looking at Christ alone. They are just men, they’re just messengers that all they are tools to be used of God. I believe it may be a pit fall to put anyone on a pedestal all men are sinners wither a pastor or laity.

I intended to share my thoughts in the comments, but after reading yours, I realized you captured everything. My heart aches for Steve Lawson. It’s disheartening to see the video creator involving Pastor MacArthur in this matter. It feels like a desperate attempt for attention. It’s upsetting to see MacArthur’s image used while reformed pastors were being baselessly criticized. I sincerely hope he takes the time to listen to the complete sermons instead of just picking snippets that misrepresent the context. I’m praying for him to grasp the profound need for complete reliance on Jesus for righteousness himself.

Based on quite a few dialogues/debates, my best guess is that many people so strongly oppose Calvinism because they hate the idea that they are not in control. They despise the idea that their faith was predestined. They loathe the concept that God choosing them had anything to do with them coming to Christ for salvation. Simply put, they want to think that they are fully in control of their own eternal destiny. They chose to receive Christ as Savior. And for many, they adamantly hold onto the idea that they can also choose to reject Christ as Savior after previously trusting in Him for salvation. What Calvinism haters do not understand, or refuse to accept, is that God's absolute sovereignty does not negate the fact that we are still absolutely responsible for our actions. Yes, God elects people to salvation (Romans 8:29-30). At the same time, we must believe in Christ to be saved (John 3:16). The two are not mutually exclusive. Both are true. Everyone whom God has chosen will believe, and everyone who believes is chosen by God. Admitting that you cannot perfectly understand the mind of God is the only way to come to a biblical balance on this issue (Romans 11:33-34). Calvinists do not have a perfect understanding of how things work, but there is no denying, biblically speaking, that God is absolutely sovereign in salvation.
You should see what Calvinist say about Independent Baptist when they fall. People that know the Bible know that a Christian is capable of any sin than an unsaved person is. Unfortunately I think you are barking up the wrong tree. John MacArthur you have taken out of context. Steve Lawson is a great teacher. He took his sin to the elders. He was not exposed by others. These great men, are great, because of their expository preaching. Some of what you say may be true, but your view on blessed reformed ministers is very low.
There was/is/is-to-come one great man: Jesus Christ Himself. We are all deplorable sinners in need of His righteousness. Being devastated by this news means that people put their faith and trust in the wrong man. We forgive and move on in Jesus name or else we will not be forgiven. You venerating 'blessed reformed ministers' is near idolatry.
When a “Pastor” or a “Bible teacher” continues to stand in the pulpit for an extended period of time or perhaps even years teaching God’s word and saying “thus saith the Lord” while you are raping women and telling them that if they expose his behaviour they will be responsible for people going to hell … like one well known apologist did! Or if you preach Sunday after Sunday after Sunday, etc, etc while you are having sex with someone other than your wife … is not a “one time” incident or a Pastor making “one mistake”! @@susiedyck4914 I am reluctant (at this moment) to go that far with this specific situation, simply because we don’t know a whole lot yet. Perhaps it was a one time short lived incident. But that’s highly unlikely! Sexual sin at this level does not just “appear”. It virtually always starts as a flirt here & flirt there and then it becomes a sin of the mind before it finally becomes the actual physical act. So, it highly likely that he has been standing in the pulpit for weeks, or possibly longer while this has been going on. But, we don’t know for sure! Yes, it’s true Pastors are men! Mortal and sinful! But, it’s on them to guard themselves … When a Pastor gets tempted with sexual sin, if he cannot stop it dead in its tracks in virtually the first instance … then he MUST take serious evasive actions. Tell his elders about it (perhaps even his wife) immediately and get himself out and away from that situation! Like the Joseph principle. He “ran” away … immediately!
I can tell you that many a professing Christian leader has fallen into sexual sin for at least one of two reason that I can surmise. 1. They have no fear of God and so they failed to depart from evil or 2. Satan is loosed and his demons are working overtime to discredit the Christian faith and those working on behalf of it. David was a man after God's own heart and he fell for Bathsheba and then had her husband murdered. But perhaps even worse was numbering the children of Israel. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41

Why is everyone acting like his work was in vain. He sinned. Let's look at ourselves. What do we do when we are by ourselves. Not when we are dressed up on Sunday. But when you are by yourself and no one is around. That is who we really are. Everyone is speaking on a situation where all the facts have not been given. This is very dangerous. Because he sinned does not make his ministry works dead. Before he started his ministry, he was a sinner. After he started, he was a sinner, and today, he is a sinner just as we are. Who are we to start to examine another mans sin. Lets examine ourselves. I'm sure we all have plenty to look at. This isn't a surprise because these preachers are believers who aren't eligible to preach the word of God in light of Acts 1:8. In this regard even John MacArthur is ineligible because he too a believer, therefore these preachers are serving two masters both God & Satan, so how to wear discern? John MacArthur or Paul Washer or Steve Lawson etc., all of these men preach that nobody is born without sin except JESUS but at the same time they preach that sexual relationships between husband and wife inside marriage isn't a sin, if it's not a sin then how do they say all are born with sin except JESUS? Only JESUS is born without sin, the rest of all are born with sin, that clearly proves even sex between husband and wife inside marriage is also sin. Because of these double standards, preachers like Steve Lawson are failing. So, western theology is absolutely wrong.
There are extreme pious people in all denominations, not just in the Reformed circles. I was raised Pentecostal and I love exegesis teaching, those in the pentecostal realm say I am not truly saved because I don't speak in tongues and roll around in a hysterical fit on the floor. I have also attended Freewill Baptist churches who think it's up to us to earn our salvstion. Then there’s the Southern Baptist that are ready to split up at any time, need I say more? Same in the Presbyterian churches you have the liberal and the conservative. Every denomination has its' bad eggs but to down an entire group of people based on those that fall is unfair. I am a bible believing Christian not a denomination and I love to listen to sound doctrine. Even though I am saddened by this latest news, I'm never surprised. Even Judas mixed in well with all the other disciples because when Jesus stated "one of you will betray me" every one of the disciples ask is it me. Pray for him and his family. This is no time to gloat and pick people apart, we are all fighting real battles everyday against the adversary of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I don’t believe that the men you named have ever thought or preached of themselves better than anyone else. They know that they are just mortal men called by God. They also know they are not prefect. Let us pray for the body of Christ and stop dividing the church. True believers walk and pray together. When one falls we hold the others up until the falling one is restored, but that’s between them and God. God did not just find out about Steve Lawson and the action and reaction of others in and outside of the church. God is Omnipresent, Omnipotent. God knows who is His and who is not. Every part of our lives has been planned by God. True believers should read Psalm 139 and Psalm 51 Daily We need each other.

I kindly disagree with a lot of your statements. Your sentiment I agree with. However the pastors are to call out sin. Righteous judgment as a speaker of the local church or the size of your circle it’s to be addressed from a biblical perspective. Yes we all sin. MacArthur admits that almost weekly. But to say no one is ever supposed to say anything is the other extreme. It’s not easy to confess a sin this tough after 30 years of ministry, I think your minimizing the struggle. We don’t yet know when this incident or incidents happened. I am an ex heroin user but I will absolutely call someone out who is risking death daily. We establish the Law. To uphold the law you must speak about it. Sometimes harshly and above your ability but speaking Christs words, not our own. The reformers have courage to call out errors in the church. You can disagree but to say it’s wrong is incorrect.

Calvinist theology if you actually study it accounts for both Gods Sovereignty and man’s free will, I would point you to Isaiah chapters 8 through 10 to see an example of Gods decree, judgment, reward and justice while none were doing anything against the desires of their hearts. Perhaps you misunderstand Free Will. Romans 1. In the womb we are sinners. Rebels against God unless Grace opens the eyes to choose Him. John 6, John 10. I would encourage you to do more research and study Gods character and then see how he gives us commands that we must choose.

Thank you for your commentary of this incident, boasting and treating other denomination as lower in faith is not acceptable However, it is unfair to compare Steve with what Ravi did, the latter hid and manipulate things to cover his shameful acts, while Steve himself admitted his fault. The reformed are hard on themselves, and this is true which i think they have to show more grace with discipline, since as you said we are all sinners, we have our flesh issues we all miss and slip away at some point. There was/is/is-to-come one great man: Jesus Christ Himself. We are all deplorable sinners in need of His righteousness. Being devastated by this news means that people put their faith and trust in the wrong man. We forgive and move on in Jesus name or else we will not be forgiven. You venerating 'blessed reformed ministers' is near idolatry.
When a “Pastor” or a “Bible teacher” continues to stand in the pulpit for an extended period of time or perhaps even years teaching God’s word and saying “thus saith the Lord” while you are raping women and telling them that if they expose his behaviour they will be responsible for people going to hell … like one well known apologist did! Or if you preach Sunday after Sunday after Sunday, etc, etc while you are having sex with someone other than your wife … is not a “one time” incident or a Pastor making “one mistake”!

@@susiedyck4914 I am reluctant (at this moment) to go that far with this specific situation, simply because we don’t know a whole lot yet. Perhaps it was a one time short lived incident. But that’s highly unlikely! Sexual sin at this level does not just “appear”. It virtually always starts as a flirt here & flirt there and then it becomes a sin of the mind before it finally becomes the actual physical act. So, it highly likely that he has been standing in the pulpit for weeks, or possibly longer while this has been going on. But, we don’t know for sure!
Yes, it’s true Pastors are men! Mortal and sinful! But, it’s on them to guard themselves … When a Pastor gets tempted with sexual sin, if he cannot stop it dead in its tracks in virtually the first instance … then he MUST take serious evasive actions. Tell his elders about it (perhaps even his wife) immediately and get himself out and away from that situation! Like the Joseph principle. He “ran” away … immediately!

I can tell you that many a professing Christian leader has fallen into sexual sin for at least one of two reason that I can surmise. 1. They have no fear of God and so they failed to depart from evil or 2. Satan is loosed and his demons are working overtime to discredit the Christian faith and those working on behalf of it. David was a man after God's own heart and he fell for Bathsheba and then had her husband murdered. But perhaps even worse was numbering the children of Israel. Why is everyone acting like his work was in vain. He sinned. Let's look at ourselves. What do we do when we are by ourselves. Not when we are dressed up on Sunday. This isn't a surprise because these preachers are believers who aren't eligible to preach the word of God in light of Acts 1:8.
In this regard even John MacArthur is ineligible because he too a believer, therefore these preachers are serving two masters both God & Satan, so how to wear discern? John MacArthur or Paul Washer or Steve Lawson etc., all of these men preach that nobody is born without sin except JESUS but at the same time they preach that sexual relationships between husband and wife inside marriage isn't a sin, if it's not a sin then how do they say all are born with sin except JESUS?
Only JESUS is born without sin, the rest of all are born with sin, that clearly proves even sex between husband and wife inside marriage is also sin.
Because of these double standards, preachers like Steve Lawson are failing. So, western theology is absolutely wrong.
There are extreme pious people in all denominations, not just in the Reformed circles.
I was raised Pentecostal and I love exegesis teaching, those in the pentecostal realm say I am not truly saved because I don't speak in tongues and roll around in a hysterical fit on the floor. I have also attended Freewill Baptist churches who think it's up to us to earn our salvstion. Then there’s the Southern Baptist that are ready to split up at any time, need I say more? Same in the Presbyterian churches you have the liberal and the conservative. Every denomination has its' bad eggs but to down an entire group of people based on those that fall is unfair. I am a bible believing Christian not a denomination and I love to listen to sound doctrine. Even though I am saddened by this latest news, I'm never surprised.

I kindly disagree with a lot of your statements. Your sentiment I agree with. However the pastors are to call out sin. Righteous judgment as a speaker of the local church or the size of your circle it’s to be addressed from a biblical perspective. Yes we all sin. MacArthur admits that almost weekly. But to say no one is ever supposed to say anything is the other extreme. It’s not easy to confess a sin this tough after 30 years of ministry, I think your minimizing the struggle. We don’t yet know when this incident or incidents happened. I am an ex heroin user but I will absolutely call someone out who is risking death daily. We establish the Law. To uphold the law you must speak about it. Sometimes harshly and above your ability but speaking Christs words, not our own. The reformers have courage to call out errors in the church. You can disagree but to say it’s wrong is incorrect.
This is heartbreaking. Did God pre determined this sin? Calvinists can only answer yes. And it was for a purpose and for his Glory. But the reality here shows “man’s free will” falling short again. I pray for his restoration.
Calvinist theology if you actually study it accounts for both Gods Sovereignty and man’s free will, I would point you to Isaiah chapters 8 through 10 to see an example of Gods decree, judgment, reward and justice while none were doing anything against the desires of their hearts. Perhaps you misunderstand Free Will. Romans 1. In the womb we are sinners. Rebels against God unless Grace opens the eyes to choose Him. John 6, John 10. I would encourage you to do more research and study Gods character and then see how he gives us commands that we must choose.

The reformed are hard on themselves, and this is true which i think they have to show more grace with discipline, since as you said we are all sinners, we have our flesh issues we all miss and slip away at some point.

Even tho i agree with you for the most part but i dare say you probably are sinning at doing this review or whatever because its sounds more like you're happy that one of those pastors like that happen to fall. I think if you're not a very direct person with other people or brothers its great but i have seen with people like that or like you to tolerate homosexualy and dont confront according to Scriptures.
