I really don’t think pastor MacCarthur thinks he is better than any other pastor who has fallen. As a shepherd of his church, he must speak of man’s offences. He never speaks of himself and always Christ. He has said that pastors are subjected to a higher standard and has on occasion asked his congregation to pray for himself for he too is subject to sin. So it’s unfair to criticize him. I really don’t appreciate your comments for you have no basis for saying what you just said about him. Pastor John MacArthur does not think he’s better and please try to make the time to listen to each of his messages and you will probably have to apologize , sorry it has to be said

To many of you have nothing better to do, than do a video about a men which has fallen into sin.

There are extreme pious people in all denominations, not just in the Reformed circles. I was raised Pentecostal and I love exegesis teaching, those in the pentecostal realm say I am not truly saved because I don't speak in tongues and roll around in a hysterical fit on the floor. I have also attended Freewill Baptist churches who think it's up to us to earn our salvstion. Then there’s the Southern Baptist that are ready to split up at any time, need I say more? Same in the Presbyterian churches you have the liberal and the conservative. Every denomination has its' bad eggs but to down an entire group of people based on those that fall is unfair. I am a bible believing Christian not a denomination and I love to listen to sound doctrine. Even though I am saddened by this latest news, I'm never surprised. Even Judas mixed in well with all the other disciples because when Jesus stated "one of you will betray me" every one of the disciples ask is it me. Pray for him and his family. This is no time to gloat and pick people apart, we are all fighting real battles everyday against the adversary of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Be careful, brother, when painting with a broad brush. I don’t get any superiority from the hundreds of sermons I’ve heard Steve preach. He fell into the same sin that David fell in to. The lust of the flesh the list of the eyes and the pride of life. The Bible tells us the him that thinks he stands to take heed, lest he fall. It’s sin pure and simple. Steve relied on himself rather than the power of The Holy Ghost to combat Satan. So yes, you are correct in the sense that pride got him in trouble. But remember, but by the grace of God go us. Why is everyone acting like his work was in vain. He sinned. Let's look at ourselves. What do we do when we are by ourselves. Not when we are dressed up on Sunday. I don’t believe that the men you named have ever thought or preached of themselves better than anyone else. They know that they are just mortal men called by God. They also know they are not prefect. Let us pray for the body of Christ and stop dividing the church. True believers walk and pray together. When one falls we hold the others up until the falling one is restored, but that’s between them and God. God did not just find out about Steve Lawson and the action and reaction of others in and outside of the church. God is Omnipresent, Omnipotent. God knows who is His and who is not. Every part of our lives has been planned by God. True believers should read Psalm 139 and Psalm 51 Daily We need each other.

Wow!! Your wrong. So wrong it ain’t even funny. Steve or anyone in the “reformed circle” never said that they are better than anyone else. Now they may have pointed out that others doctrine was wrong and that they need to repent, but that’s not saying they are better. YOU sir trying to go back and review what he said about sexual sin and adultery and compare to his actions is clearly done in a very sinful way for millions to see. Knowing your right and not excepting to bend to the masses or except the opposing doctrine is not thinking your better. It’s knowing your stance is Biblical and is backed up by scripture not your feelings or what someone else said. I first met Steve Lawson for 25+ years and have shared the same platforms with him in the past. I know him to be a Godly man who, like us all, even our own Lord, is tested and tempted in ever way. Many persons are implying their own definition of "Inappropriate Relationship" to mean a physical relationship which would be defined as Adultery. We do not know the nature of this Inappropriate Relationship so I would encourage us all to wait patiently before we pick up a stone. I am certain that in his own timing, Dr. Lawson will make a public statement but he is not required to do this as this would merely be done as a courtesy if he chooses to do so. I have known many of the Reformed Pastor of yesterday and I can agree with much of your summations. They give the air of superiority which can be and is disturbing. In pray for Pastor Steve, his wife Anne and the Family.

I kindly disagree with a lot of your statements. Your sentiment I agree with. However the pastors are to call out sin. Righteous judgment as a speaker of the local church or the size of your circle it’s to be addressed from a biblical perspective. Yes we all sin. MacArthur admits that almost weekly. But to say no one is ever supposed to say anything is the other extreme. It’s not easy to confess a sin this tough after 30 years of ministry, I think your minimizing the struggle. We don’t yet know when this incident or incidents happened. I am an ex heroin user but I will absolutely call someone out who is risking death daily. We establish the Law. To uphold the law you must speak about it. Sometimes harshly and above your ability but speaking Christs words, not our own. The reformers have courage to call out errors in the church. You can disagree but to say it’s wrong is incorrect.

Please tell me what in the world does Reformed people, supposedly making themselves seem better than other branches, have to do with Dr. Lawson falling? Your words betray your delight that a Reformed person has fallen. I grew up Baptist,. So I can say that we looked down on many other denominations. When I found the liberating truths that were collecting dust in my Baptist church, I felt a wonderful sense of relief. So maybe you are just seeing happiness to get out of a very oppressive system. Be careful. You sound like you think that you are better than Reformed folks. And you sound young, not charitable, and not objective. "Let not many of you become teachers." That includes you.

Nobody needs to know the details. What you need to know is to pray for him and his family, and the church. You don't need to know the gossip...

This is heartbreaking. Did God pre determined this sin? Calvinists can only answer yes. And it was for a purpose and for his Glory. But the reality here shows “man’s free will” falling short again. I pray for his restoration.

I don’t agree totally with your judgment of Reformed branch of Protestantism. There are always some in each “branch” who act this way. Is what Lawson says here wrong? He came forth admitting his inappropriate behavior knowing the outcome. No one has said what the inappropriate behavior was, so it’s possible this is his way of stopping it before it goes too far. I believe this reformed circle tries to hold to a God based standard. When you think of God’s standard,…well… I think SJL coming forward knowing what he has preached, takes some humbleness. I pray that he has stopped this relationship and healing and reconciliation begins. Do you think you are beyond reproach?
