the secret to playing this game is 1.save,save,save always and constantly 2.use your radio to prevent boredom cause this game has boring moments 3.if at first you fail a quest revert your save and try again 4.never go with out aid: stimpacks,nukeacola,ect.. 5. don't play it all at once and get the game of the year edition 6. anything you dont like about the game can be fixed with a mod 7.don't join the BOS their mission are forgettable 8.don't alienate yourself from factions early in the game 9.if you think you've seen it all then you havent 10.don't watch lets plays,fallout lore videos until after you have finish the game.

Nice video! I have played tons of play throughs, and here are some of my tips! 1: if you want a challenge, try beating the game without dying. Aka a permadeath run though INSANELY HARD AND GROWLING. it’s worth it in the long run I had about 8 try’s on hard difficulty and won all the dlc cleared death claw island and quarry and died a old man at dead wind cavern ( if you don’t know it’s a death claw filled cave with the legendary death claw in it). 2: high intelligence is key! When you make a new playthourgh use the implant at new Vegas medical clinic which also leads into my next tip 3: implants. They increase your DT and S.P.E.C.I.A.L points and hp regeneration. Get them, at new Vegas medical clinic. close to one of the free side gates.

Just started this game FINALLY for the first time in my life in april 2024 (the FUTURE) 🤖 Making myself a little “start up tips” playlist. So shocked by how expansive and deep this game is even in the first few hours. This video is so great, really appreciate the (sultry? Asmr?) voice over and calm delivery too. I was honestly super overwhelmed but this vid is fantastic, really helped me get into it. Since you can reset your SPECIAL after leaving Good Springs, I initially set my stats to make sure I could easily do thing in town, then reset my stats based on what I read online is a good sniper build. Thanks for the tip on the dumpster through. Once I get my new SSD HD and reconfigure my main gaming machine (been playing on my laptop gaming machine), I'm going to be starting over fresh.
The AstroNerdBoy I like that little trick about SPECIAL manipulation. Makes sense. As far as the dumpster is concerned, I can't absolutely promise that it's safe storage, all I can say is that it's always been safe for me. So it might be worth keeping plenty of old saves, and checking on it regularly.

About what items are useful, or what can be sold. Quite a few things mentioned here as sellable, are actually used in crafting. There are a few things I’ve found that are useless in crafting and can be sold, like clipboards, and most drinking cups and glasses, toys and ashtrays, as examples. My advice is that, if you want to use survival skills, don’t consume boxed food goods, as they are used later in high skill recipes. If you want to use explosives, don’t sell things until you get the mad bomber perk, and know what’s used in crafting. Also Jury Rigging is the best perk. Save in storage almost all armor and weapons until you get it. You’ll make much more caps by using cheap crap to repair expensive stuff and sell it. Also, 9 Endurance is a great start, as it allows installation of every implant. Essentially granting +1 to all stats and the armor and hp regen implants. Just takes caps.
I like how people are commenting "yes ppl are still playing in ....) like of course they are New Vegas is literally held as one of the greatest RPG/Fallout games ever made, plus the game came out in 2010 that was only 14 yrs ago. Never even occurred to me to use dumpsters for storage; can i use any dumpster anywhere in the game or just the one at goodsprings? can i use multiple dumpsters or will one single dumpster hold everything i find ? i maxed out my 250lb capacity long ago :) thanks
+Kevin S. All containers in the game have infinite capacity. However, some will reset their contents periodically, which obviously makes them unsuitable for long term storage. These particular dumpsters never reset on me.

Thanks for the help and if you dont mind, can u tell me about repairs? i'm way way into the game and so far haven't made use of any of the workbenches but i now have my repair skill at 100, but still can't repair anything. when i go to an equipped weapon, the repair action is greyed out... i'm i lacking repair parts? Say i use the 10mm machine gun and it needs repair; should i have another of same gun in my inventory to get parts from?
+Kevin S. To repair a weapon you need an identical weapon, or you can buy the Jury Rigging perk. Another option is to craft weapon repair kits at a workbench and then use those while your damaged weapon is equipped.

I got into Fallout one day simply by browsing what xbox gamepass ultimate had to offer when I saw Fallout 4 on the list of free games. I already had some prior knowledge about the game as I played, up to the part where you meet Preston Garvey, once before at my cousin's house a few years ago. So I decided to download it, and boy am I glad I did I played through the game 3 different times so far. After that I noticed fallout 76 was also on gamepass so I played that a lot aswell then. Now yesterday I found out Fallout 3 and New Vegas were also free with gamepass so naturally I decided to install them. Now I'm starting my first playthrough of NV.
I have a question. Is there a way to reset your S.P.E.C.I.A.L without crating another character? I bought this exact game some days ago. It's my first time touching fallout. Any advices?
You can't reset your entire SPECIAL but you can pick up implants and perks that boost them slightly. If you're not too far through the game, it's worth restarting.

when i get to new vegas. some NCR troopers walk up to me and attack me. The secureitrons don't do jack shit and if I kill a NCR trooper they ALL attack me. So i'm just really stuck
+Emergency Exit what armour are you wearing? If you are wearing faction armour from a faction that they are hostile to (legion, powder gangers, brotherhood of steel) then they'll fight you. If not that, then check your pip boy to see what your faction standing with NCR is.

Best tip reload dashing is useful and saving right before you fall means you take no damage when you load it
The 2 dumpsters in Goodsprings were an intentional design choice and you can't convince me otherwise

when i get to new vegas. some NCR troopers walk up to me and attack me. The secureitrons don't do jack shit and if I kill a NCR trooper they ALL attack me. So i'm just really stuck
+Emergency Exit what armour are you wearing? If you are wearing faction armour from a faction that they are hostile to (legion, powder gangers, brotherhood of steel) then they'll fight you. If not that, then check your pip boy to see what your faction standing with NCR is.
Oh. I'm vilified but i'll try wearing some NCR trooper amour I gotta kill one to get it though XD

I'm playing this game for the first time in 2020! I just went to GameStop yesterday, and they had the special edition with all the DLC for PS3 for $10! Soooooo excited!
