Unless the commander is a draw engine or something that can utilize the mana, someone dropping their entire hand turn one isn't always as threatening as people make it out to be.

I agree, I don't like when players do such things, I usually make sure to ask everyone if the spell resolves just so that it's clear that everyone at the table passed priority and had a chance to interact. Or at least they should've taken a shot of hot sauce for it since that's their rule.
Just posted the same sentiments earlier today and in full agreement. You can't rewind the board state for you to respond because Lynch is thinking about killing you with 2 Terror triggers on the stack after a spell has resolved.
Yeah. That's not even a take backsies shot. You can't wait until you become the target to react to something that happened two spells ago. And she's the judge and pretty adamant about catching other peoples missplays and unlawful actions. Kinda feels like it was against her better judgement. Especially when she tried winning the game with an infinite combo that can't work. Also she somehow played seething song two turns in a row in the end. First a Lynch' first big go-off and then on her turn she played it two times. That's 3 pivotal unlawful plays in one game and all of them are in her favour. That's... cheating.
@@andersbirkdal6037 good catch on the seething song, it doesn't look like anyone caught it so luckily mike didn't die to mana crypt on his turn and was able to win.
Great interactive game. Big hats off to you for taking the time and putting the huge effort into going back after the game and fixing the mistake. We kinda got an alternate ending to a movie in a sense. With that said, here's a crazy idea:
What if you marked pivotal moments in the game and then came back to play the game out from that moment on with a different decision being made 🤔 There's always a moment or two in everyone's game where one player removes something or let's a spell or effect go through when they have a way to stop it but elect not to because of something they are planning...what if they hadn't made that choice? I think it would be really cool to see a game "go back in time" and play out what would have happened differently.
The games here are always great but that could be a way to really stand out from the crowd. Whatcha think?
This is a great Idea and a fun one. It's a lot of effort to make this show. But there are def times for all players I wish I could see these alt ideas. Maybe one day. Glad you enjoyed it.

Larry is truly one of those people who would be a gem to play with. He absolutely can hang with the best of them, but isn't afraid to bring more niche/all or nothing decks like Zada. He is a super nice guy, at least as far as giving you the FAFO warning.
This was a great game. David's deck looks pretty sweet, and I know he'll pick up the win some day! Would love to keep seeing the Larry/David pairing because they have great banter.

Ayli choosing to walk back to the casting of the dragon AFTER being targeted is kind of a cheap move.. She wouldn’t have known that they were targeting her until after they hit the battlefield 👎
Overall this was a great episode. Felt sorry for Larry with the mana screw and not being able to do much. Also, Ayli showed me more ways I can squeeze value out of copy spells.

Larry Legend!!! At the very least Ayli should be taking a shot for retroactively casting an Electrodominance after targets are declared from the Terror triggers that would have killed her. It's a slick move, but a spell was cast and 2 triggers were on the stack you can't just rewind that 🤣

The only thing that I think could be improved is using images of the card version that is actually being played. It makes easier for new player to correlate the card shown with the actual card on the table.

I have an ur dragon deck with all the same dragons. Dragons are usually a mid-late game threat. You can have an empty board state for 5-6 turns then bam! Game over. Love it. Really enjoyed this episode.

Well done. I'm glad you caught this mistake because it's one even I could have made. It is quite a high level one considering usually copies of spells copy everything on the card. I guess the exception to this is casting conditions, such as the condition that the increasing vengeance be cast from the graveyard. It's quite interesting, because the copy of the spell will also have this text written on it, but having been a reiterate cast from Ayli's hand, it certainly was not cast from a graveyard originally. Still though, pretty sick that Ayli still had fight left in her deck after Lynch went beastmode with the dragons.

cool game, would have loved one of the mono red decks to win but hey i appreciate the death by ETB effects instead of simply swinging out, a very red way to win
@42:53 after Ayli casts Past in Flames and afterwards goes on to make infinite mana, she casts Seething Song as first spell on the stack, hold priority, after that casts Increasing Vengeance which will coppy the Seething Song twice, which would be a total of 15 mana (if they resolve), then she casts Reiterate as a copy of Increasing Vengeance. And here is when I think the mistake was. Couldn't infinite mana be achieved by executing the cast order in the same way but instead of allowing Reiterate to go the graveyard, pay the buyback cost of Reiterate, after the resolving it, keep priority, play it again as a copy of Vengeance and you will have infinite copies of the Reiterate due to ever-increasing mana supply. But if that can't be done (and I do think I know why: because to gain the mana from the Increasing Vengeance and the Seething Song the stack needs to resolve, and when it does you might have the Reiterate in your hand (buyback cost3) but you will no longer have the others due to the penalty of flashback that is to exile those cards from the graveyard) , that would mean that no infinite mana can be created using those specific spells due to the penalty of Flashback.

When lynch had his big turn and got 15 mana and casted all his dragons, he never put gold counters on his dragons hoard. I know it doesn’t change the game outcome but always can learn from mistakes 👍

I know the mistake was caught and resolved, but I'm confused. How did Ayli play seething song to cast Electrodominance in Lynch's turn to kill Terror, and then play seething song again from hand to cast Past in Flames in her own turn? :S
I came straight to the comments to see if anyone else caught this as well. Ayli shouldn’t have been able to do the whole electrodominance play.
Also veil of summer shouldn’t have seen a blue spell being cast if I recall correctly.

I noticed this too, I believe it should have gone to graveyard after it was used to cast electrodominance at 37:23, but it goes back to hand. I thought this was the mistake they were going to fix but I guess it's easy to miss.
At around 40:00 didn't lynch miss a bunch of procs from the two peaks dragon with the summons?

Recently got into magic and have been building a lot of decks. I find that my top end budget runs around 150ish for a commander deck. I know they use proxies but if those decks were real.... just insane

‘Scary Larry’ definitely brings the spice! Not sure how cozy you are with command zone but you should try to get Craig ‘Mr. infect’ Blanchette on there for some spicy commander games.
Craig sometimes seems out of place on command zone but I think his play style would mesh great with IHYD.
One of these times someone is gonna have to say no to lynch having all those proxys 🤣😂
It would only be funnier if he was using Wizards official 30th anniversary proxies.... but I'm sure Lynch owns at least 1 copy of every dual at this point, maybe he doesn't want to play them and potentially damage / wear them out.
Braid of Fire doesn't work like that does it? Wouldn't you lose the mana after the upkeep phase before main phase?
Great question! Yes it does, but i used the mana during my upkeep to untap my mana vault. I understand how it can be confusing.
I heard Riku of two reflections favorite film is Everything Everywhere All at Once.
I have a Zada and Ur Dragon deck both super fun but Zada can get CRAZY with all the card draw and pump spells; I have easily killed opponents with just a few tokens and Zada ;p

I like that you actually went back and fixed the game-ending rules error. Did you shuffle up and then rebuild the game state after to fix it, or did you leave the decks as they were and then fixed it right after? Because in the second take, you revealed a Flooded Strand in the dragon deck after already discarding one (previously revealed on top) after the huge dragon turn, so I'm curious if you have two in there or it was just a mistake in rebuilding the game state
It was shot a month later. We rebuilt the board state. So the actual decks were shuffled as you said.

Its not a mistake, just a lack of optimization on lynch’s last turn. 47:47
If i remember correctly, dragon tempest checks the number of dragons as the ability resolves, so pairing that with lathliss would let you eek out a tiny bit more damage by letting lathliss’ ability resolve before the tempest.
Like its no big deal here, but ive been in situations where that extra two or three damage is the difference between winning and getting my glass cannon stepped on.

I hope the man-hour cost wasn’t high so you could afford to cast the post production spell at the end there.
I am happy that you caught the mistake. Also one thing to note is that when you had already cast the Ancient Copper Dragon and you had moved to triggers after aiming the damage triggers at Ayli and then she went back and cast few spells (36:02-38:23). If played with more official rules she would have died to your damage. I understand that you are playing with looser rules grip and I also usually let people to take back things in the game but my own rule in this is that if you are doing a game winning play or if your mistake is too far back, we don't take it back and I would personally say that this was on the side of bigger mistake because Ayli didn't first react to the cast and did let it through and only reacted to it when she was already targeted. At least she should have had some hot sauce. Either way a fun game.

Did anyone catch Lynch draw an extra card at 39:15? There was a land sitting on top, which he pulls off, then draws 4 from his triggers. I know Lynch didn't mean to, but just wanted to point it out
