Yo David, cool deck, just so you know for next time Toralf triggers off of any source dealing excess non combat damage, including sources controlled by other people.
Correct but it has to be dealt to a creatures or planeswalker an opponent controls still. For example when Lynch blew up Toralf there would be no trigger.

The 45 degree tap is annoying. Can easily be overlooked. 90 degree tap is Good friendly magic
I agree, lands positioning was a mess too.
Also tap your permanents the correct way ffs.
But for some people, it's hard to change, i tapped my things 45 degree for a decade when i played, now i'm returning and every turn, i have to force myself doing it 90, habits are hards to change
45 degree is fine unless you like to cheat I tap 45 degree and never have any issues cuz I organize and don't cheat
MTG arena taps 45 degrees. The official way is to tap for 45 degrees apparently.
Did justin draw extra card? 3:37 draws from esper sentinal, then says untap, draws a card without saying it, then says untap again and draw, and draws another card.

Looks to me like it was an editing mistake. Since he did it while they were talking, they may have wanted to retake the scene while keeping the banter in.

Wow, crazy game! David, you are my favorite regular on this show, and always such a threat! Winning is for sure not everything in this game, but that was an insane brew and really should have won because Toralf cares about excess damage that would be dealt to a something an opponent controls and doesn't care who or what dealt it - including when damage was dealt to your Toralf by Lynch that you could've thrown back at him. I consider this game a win for you, brother!

Just for future rulings, turn player's effects trigger first, and non-turn player's effects resolve first. When Archaic triggers, your copied spells would resolve first. It does make a difference in the game (and other games), especially since your cards resolve first, and could affect prior targets and other effects.
yup also the amount of damage would get reduced between each casting since it checks upon resolve. big difference in general but more so here

haha I immediately went to the comments when that happened looking for if someone else noticed. I dont think it was intentional because he previously had said evens were safe and was likely too into his own head when he rolled. 18:42 for anyone who missed it

Nice game. Lynch missed the two draws off of kiora trigger when maelstrom came into play, which caused him to have a couple less insects, not that it mattered. But a lot going on. Great game guys !!! Catch y’all on the flippity
When you copy a players spells with wandering archaic yours is the first to resolve. And the winds spells would lower in damage everytime because there would be less creatures on the field while it resolves.
First part is correct but not the second. Volcanic wind x value checks when announced as a spell. So anything after cast or died prior to cast doesn’t decrease or increase the x value.
@@Oneslicknick also they shoud've chosen targets first, then lurking predator triggers, therfore David would not be able to target the mana elf
also there wouldn't have been any excess damage being shot around after toralf was killed. could've changed the outcome of the game.

Empires have risen and fallen since Lynch had a pop off so I am glad to see it happen. On my 80th birthday I am sure I will see it again.
At 18:44 Chris claims "Odds I'm safe, evens take damage" then rolled a 6 and said "Evens I'm safe". Everyone was talking so nobody heard him. It's only a bit of damage but thats not an accident or a mistake.

Everyone's talking about never winning on camera yet but this is episode 47 and I've been here from the start and I can only recall lynch winning one other time with lonus which was really just kennin and I say it doesn't count cuz fu¢k kennin so...

one of my original decks and favorites to this day. have never broken it apart and never will. keeps getting better with new cards too. have fun!
Cant another player trigger torralf? I thought if an opponent deals excess damage to another opponents creature with non combat damage, it would trigger the Hammer God

Don't think anyone has mentioned this, but the interaction at 23:12 doesn't actually work this way. When something says "divide as you choose", you have to deal at least one damage to each of its targets. So basically that spell only deals 1 dmg to each creature (by itself at least), which means Toralf excess trigger doesn't actually happen since each instance of 1 dmg from the 4 casts/copies would trigger per spell, thus there would never be any excess damage to send elsewhere as the targets would die upon each resolution. There would, however, be "excess" damage on the stack as the number of targets for each spell remains the same when they were all put on the stack, so as creatures started dying then there would be damage left over to redistribute. So in the end, anything with 4 or less toughness should have died, along with whatever else they redistributed enough damage to. As someone with a Hinata deck, I'm painfully aware of this odd rule.
Also, David is too nice. He makes a deal to not have any of it target his own stuff, then gives up on that deal allowing his commander to die as well as not targeting any of Lynch's stuff. You gotta be cold blooded if you want to get your first win, David!

@@morof_r Because X is the number of creatures. And at least 1 damage has to be dealt to a target. So unless there is another card buffing the damage (and there wasn't) then the spell effectively was dealing 1 damage to each creature.
Very wrong. You can target ANY number of creatures. For each spell/copy they chose ONE creature. And this creature got all damage and therefore excessive damage.
Came to say that the copies off Wandering Archaic aren't cast and would not trigger Lurking Predators glad somebody else caught it

With the archaic and growth spiral debate, if lunch copies spiral it would not trigger lurking predators since lynch never cast the spell, his copy was just placed onto the stack.
