The fact that Vince blamed Heyman for this mess, when Paul tried repeatedly to warn him beforehand, is typical Vince. Massive ego and not wanting to take responsibility.
Thank God that dinosaur's gone!
It's everyone's fault but his.
That's the mindset Vince has had for DECADES.
@@anthonymarshall8311 yeah cause we love all these nobies getting a push under hhh control
Well we don’t know that he blamed Paul heyman that’s just all hearsay
The look on Heyman's face at the end said it all
To paraphrase an old Superman meme: "When nobody was looking, WWE charged people $40 for a piss-poor house show level event. That's forty dollars. That's as many as four tens. And that's terrible."
Also, Alvarez reporting that the fight between ticketholders was better than any match on the show is classic commentary.
Vince absolutely wanted this to fail.
Vince never really wanted "extreme" wrestling with WWECW. The Attitude Era had been killed off by sponsors threatening to protest the publicly-traded company for its controversial and offensive content, combined with the elimination of WWE's biggest competition when it acquired WCW. It couldn't push the envelope with "edgy" extreme content without risking financial interests, nor did it need to without any rival companies to compete with for eyes. All Vince wanted from ECW was a recognizable brand to monetize.
I doubt that. Vince understood that he took elements from ECW to beat WCW, but he knew he couldn't replicate ECW's success as an extreme wrestling promotion. I'd say the One Night Stand was ECW's funeral, not a comeback.
@@glennwelsh9784
Makes you wonder why he even named that 3rd brand ECW when he could have applied some common sense and converted Velocity into the 3rd brand . Atleast that way he could have avoided the burden and legacy of ECW because the expectations then was that the fans expected WWECW to be the exact replica of the original ECW .
This pay per view was poorly booked but you got to admit the stage was fire 🔥🔥
The balls vs striker match was fun. Just didn't need to be on ppv
@@bobcatlewis87 striker with amazing mic skills and very good seller
@@bobcatlewis87 or, at the very least, could've been a dark match
@@bobcatlewis87 exactly it should of been a extreme rules match not striker rules every match should of had weapons
These episodes, along with the reviews of “weird” shows from the past are the highlight of cultaholic.
“Shivering in their shoes for the matches lacked heat” that’s a bar though 😤🔥🔥🔥
The fact that they took Sabu of all people out of that match infuriates me to no end
Yeah if anyone it should have been Test or Bobby Lashley
All for the money, dude.
Sabu was removed for disciplinary reasons.
@@JeremyBearimy913 the ones that DON'T apply to the scrawny untalented usas 🤦🤦🤦
And on top of that they replaced him with HARDCORE HOLLY 😂 They literally had the Sandman right there that night instead, he was supposed to face holly one on one but holly was then moved to the chamber and sandman came out to Cane Kevin Thorn
It's a shame this show basically killed the brand interest, because there was some good there. The eventual emergence of John Morrison (barring the unfortunate circumstances that necessitated it of course). The rise of CM Punk. Towards the end it became basically a developmental brand, which was great for launching the careers of people like Kofi, Tyson Kidd, Ezekiel Jackson (too bad Vince got a look at him and had himself a "Vince McMahon loves big sweaty men" moment. I liked Big Zeke, but he was wayyyy too green for the main roster), Evan Bourne, Kelly Kelly, Sheamus, Jack Swagger, and Zack Ryder. Kane had a good run down there. So did Christian. You also had Tommy Dreamer, Balls Mahoney, and Super Crazy trying their best to keep something alive down there.
Was it ECW? Fuck no. Was it as terrible as people claim it to be? Also fuck no. The problem is we were promised a certain product, and got a bill of goods for something else entirely. It wasn't so much that the goods we got were bad. It's that what we got wasn't what we ordered in the first place.
Exactly, when ECW became just a developmental brand for new stars and other overlooked starts to get screen time and give them pushes before going to/back to RAW or SmackDown, it was actually okay. It also gave Christian a platform to carry a brand by himself and have some really good matches. The problem was that it just wasn't ECW.
We need a Dark Side of The Ring episode on this payperview
That ode at the end almost makes December to Dismember worth it!! Brilliantly done
22:38 "Spiritual feces"🤣🤣🤣Nice!!
The Christmas Rhyme in the end is way more entertaining than the Pay-per-view itself.
So we just gonna ignore the fact that cultaholic specializes in not just wrestling stories but Christmas stories as well?😂😂
Love these longer videos lately. Great stuff and Merry Christmas
Fraser is killing it, and this show killed my soul💀
I watched this PPV when I was 7 and I think it’s the first time I realised Wrestling shows could be S*it & weren’t always perfect
The Extreme Elimination Chamber was a good idea on paper but poorly executed by having just 4 weapons in the match and no access to others
Indeed
They should of put weapons on the stage or on top of the pods so you can keep going out and grab tables, ladders ect
But it was still one of the best chamber matches out of all of them
The participants didn't help. A few were a good idea but they could have changed 3 of them lmfao
How come nobody ever points out the fact that Lashley breaking metal chains with a WWE wooden table is ridiculous?
I was at this show live!!!!! Drove an hour to get to see this $hit show.
Vince lost millions because he could never see the support WCW, and ECW had. The invasion angle bombed, and the ECW relaunch was essentially Superstars. It did help guys like Miz, Sheamus, Punk, and Swagger.
That Ariel foot choke got the biggest pop of the night lol
spiritual feces is a brilliant line
The issue was there was no Colin Delaney. I love the "twas the December to Dismember" story
December To Dismember may not have been a good show but I remember being happy about Bobby Lashley winning the ECW title 🙂
I actually bought the DVD for that very reason
I remember being happy to watch the chamber on the WWE Satans Prison Elimination Chamber anthology
Same I remember watching it with my nephew years later and he even said that was not really the worst elimination chamber match
@@kristopherbrown2145 nah but honestly it was the worst chamber match tho
@@kristopherbrown2145 I was a Lashley and RVD fan and wanted either of them to win lol
I’m glad to not be the only one that finds it really, really funny that Chris Jericho got eaten ass-first on a rollercoaster in Sharknado 3.
I had a poster for this one when my basement got flooded and it was ruined. It's so bad I doubt I'll ever find another one in good condition, and if I did I wouldn't want to pay what the seller would charge for such an awful show. It was fun to have just for the infamy of it.
Joey Mercury was actually in the original ECW briefly.
J and J Security
@@claymathewselevator8121 long before that lolz
That poem/ Christmas song was amazing who wrote that???!?!
So so good
I’d watch Xanta Claus Conquers The Martians on Syfy
Fitting as Santa Claus Conquers The Martians was referenced in The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special
Fraser is really becoming a highlight of the channel.
Great video about one of old Vince's "masterpieces" xD For one brief second I thought about watching this ppv, since I haven't seen it yet, but I think this great work is more than enough
Mercury was an ECW Alumni, he teamed with Christian York and performed as Joey Matthews.
as a kid, December to Dismember was my FAVORITE pay per view ever. i absolutely loved the elimination chamber match and thought it was the coolest thing ever. even though i now understand professional wrestling and how horrible that show was, it still holds a special place in my heart all these years later
Same
I had an hardcore Elimination Chamber play set, but looking back, that play set was twice what this match was
The chamber match isn't bad in a bubble.
Elimination chamber was the coolest match; just not this one lol. I remember having no interest in that match after they swapped out the greatest hardcore legend of any generation for fkn hardcore holly. Even watching this video filled me with that same feeling of disgust from all those years ago.
I was one of the poor souls that stayed up to 3:30am to watch it live cos it was free on sky sports, awful stuff.
Lol I like that Fraser put on a Santa costume for the ode.
... it's the little things.
In 2006 i was 11.
All i remember about december to dismember is "huh that is a funny name" because dad and grandpa didn't feel like buying this show in the first place. I'm glad now.
Also I'm writing this as i start watching this video, and i loved the "rise and fall of ECW" dvd my grandpa owned. Some of the best matches I've ever seen.
Joey matthews aka Joey Mercury was an original ecw during the last years of that promotion
In fairness to DtD, Heyman's booking of OG ECW was to have random shit flung at a wall to see what stuck and for PPV cards to only announce the marquee matches ahead of time. The structure was ECW to a tee, but the booking was Vince's Ego to a tee.
I still haven't forgiven WWE for putting this garbage on two days after my 14th birthday.
The whole ECW revival thing felt like a spit in the face. Vince really hated both his biggest competitors along with WCW , so he tried his best to destroy those companies forever including their legacy. Ezekiel Jackson being the last ECW Champion ever is truly a disgrace. WWE should’ve just pulled the plug right after this joke of an ECW show.
1 ECW had no business coming on the sci-fi channel, who would think to watch wrestling on that channel
The best part of this show is the crowd chants and people screaming stuff. One of my favorites is when Paul E is praising Big Show and a fan yells out “he’s gonna retire next year”
Next worst show idea
The Great American Bash 2004
It took me longer than I want to admit to translate "spiritual feces" in my head
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That poem/carol/story? at the end was amazing!
Merry Christmas to all. Road Dogg and Billy Gunn also accepted the tag open challenge. They were in TNA. Just desperate

WWECW was never going to work.
The One Night Stand ppvs were decent, but they weren't "ECW shows".
It was never going to be what it was and it shouldn't have....but they tried it anyway....and that's on Vince.
A big problem was if you already have a limited roster with few big stars why would you put them all in a 6 man match. If I had to make a card using the names they had it would be
3 way dance- big show v lashley v rvd
Extreme tag- test/hardcore v dreamer/sabu
4 way dance- daivari v Moore v Richards v Dupree
FBI vs Burke/turkay
Hardy’s vs mnm
Singapore Cane match- Kevin Thorne vs sandman
Matt striker vs balls Mahoney
Cm punk vs Mike Knox
The WWE version of ECW might as well have been called Entertainment Championship Wrestling, not much Extreme about it.
Actually leading up to December to Dismember it was quite extreme, every week Sandman would beat someone with a cane, Sabu would do one of his signature crazy spots and Big Show would main event in a bloody affair every week up until then, it was Entertainment Championship Wrestling after this PPV
I mean, it really wasn’t entertaining, either, tho lol
@@jakefoster5611 post 2007 draft up until it ended it was pretty entertaining, you had Punk, Dreamer, Morrison, Miz, Boogeyman, Chavo, Kane, Shelton Benjamin, Kofi Kingston, Matt Hardy, Mark Henry, Finlay, Christian and Regal
@@BrockSamsonVB it was probably not as extreme as what it was because wwe would go PG and not have blood
Matt Striker the original Andre Chase
I watched this ppv when i was 15, I had never watched ECW but saw the one night stands, and wondered why the ECW guys mostly got wrecked at their own show. :p I did kind of like the elimination chamber though, just because I liked Bobby Lashley, even back then.
Can you imagine a “get your money back” chant on live ppv for the 6 people who ordered the ppv?
“Little Geedo”.
Remember that feeling when RVD won Money In The Bank? Remember that feeling of hope when you just knew ECW was coming back?
This was the equivalent of putting the corpse of ECW in that Indian burial ground behind the pet sematary.
RIP to our Uncle Jack
Holy hell Frazier with an ECW Christmas story. Please let this be available on Audible
Burk and turki, against the fbi! Bro that fire tunes my guy!
That Big Show vs Flair match is actually really good
This ppv had Matt Striker in a singles match. Goes to show how bad this ppv was

Despite featuring Taz on commentary, ECW December to Dismember was low on wrestling enjoyment noises.
matt striker is a legend at the mic with a great heel persona and good at selling
Sabu bonked his head falling asleep to the mahoney match lol
I might read your christmas poem to my kids this year😂
I always figured Vince Mcmahon actually knew what he was doing, and what he wanted was to to destroy the very memory of ECW. Because Vince hates to lose, and he lost to WCW and ECW. He was forced to do things he didn't like to win against them and once the threat was gone, he reverted to the way he wanted to run things. So he wanted WCW to look weak, he wanted ECW to be stupid, and to smear the memory of them both with this crap.
@Jim Jaspers Because until AEW came along, every time the crowd hated what he had for them in the ring, they'd chant for ECW. You better believe Vince hated that.
He didn’t lose to wcw and ecw. He won. He’s the one still in business while they’ve been out of business for over 20 years. There’s not a single universe where either of those companies beat vince McMahon. Stop doing hallucinogenics.
@@killingragethrowback they didn’t. No one has chanted for ecw since 2010. You’re blatantly making things up to provide evidence for your delusions. People who are upset chant for cm punk and have since this show.
@@richardtherichard26 He won eventually. Just taking a twnporary L is already too much for him.
@@richardtherichard26 They chant for CM Punk and AEW now, but the fact they kept chanting even in 2010 when ECW died in the late 90s, 2000 at most, speaks about how fobdly people love it. And love using it to bait Vince.
The more Fraser videos I see the more I agree with jack 😅
Vince McMahon is the ultimate argument against monopolies.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE, WISH YOU ALL THE BEST
Spiritual Feces, incredible.
Just wana put out there that Joey Mercury was an ecw OG. Back before they shut down he teamed with christian york.
Thank god Vince McMahon can’t kill actual good storylines and characters anymore
Oh dear…..
This aged well.
It aged well, then it aged poorly
and then aged well again
and now its aged like fine wine
thank you Endeavour CEO for putting Vince in the doghouse
Even if the new "ECW" was a trashfire, we at least have all of the old good content in their library.
One night stand 2005 is the closest thing we ever saw to the original ecw
Besides hardys vs mnm this ppv was a joke, having a ecw legend lose to the great khali's manager via roll up than chokeslammed off the stage was bad, having sabu replaced by holly was bad, and not letting punk or rvd win the title and instead having lashley win was definitely bad, I don't hate lashley but they should've kept him on smackdown and had him face batista for the world title instead of putting him in ecw, I understand why heyman left after this ppv. I still wonder why matt striker thought it was good idea to put his face on his butt 😂😂😂
not left,
he was released
Vince blamed Paul E Dangerously for this PPV
when he kept telling Vince everything was a bad idea and he should listen to him
This dude looks like Markiplier
I need a reviex of full WWE ECW
One night stand 2: electric boogaloo 👏
Bobby Lashley has barely Aged

Black don’t crack.
On the plus side, the name for the pay per view is pretty accurate.
So did Sabu have an injury or did he just want out of this mess? lol.
The end 😂😂😂
Best part 😂😂😂
Merry Christmas everyone around the world.
The legacy of ECW was a string of broken bodies and corpses.
Having Striker play a teacher must have Been a dig at Shane (Dean) Douglas
He was a teacher in real life and legit got fired for lying about things to take wrestling bookings
I was there, the best part of the night was sandman spitting beer on me, I was like 10 and let’s just say my dad said” when you get older, you’ll be getting into a fight about something like that”

I was so excited…
In all honesty WWE should’ve just tried running a One Night Stand ppv every year instead of trying to revive ECW altogether. They could’ve gotten different legends of the promotion to compete on the show and then kept doing that.
