Thomas: “Stop being Batman & be a father to your son.”
Bruce: “My son is literally a trained assassin, so it’s a bit complicated.”
Yeah, not sure how Thomas Wayne would have gotten along with Damien

@@VITAS874 he’s a clone, that’s like saying superboy is Superman’s true son
Bruce became the Batman because he convinced himself that that’s what his parents would want him to do but Thomas telling him to stop hits so hard especially if you remember the scene where Bruce was talking to his parents at their grave in mask of the phantasm.
One of my favorite movies too, that scene was great
@@anacreon4611 Was it? Batman has done good for the city and fixed a lot that would have gone unfixed.
See Bruce was always just so delusional in thinking his parents wanted him to be Batman but he's always been WRONG about that.
@@christopherkidwell9817 Batman's existence brought about the rise of supervillains, criminal empires adapting to him and trying to get better gear which gave GPD a harder time to deal with them, and more psychopaths in Gotham as well.
I never felt batman did it because he thought his parents would want that of him. Like ever. he did it because he saw it was necessary and to stop what happened to them and him happening to others. he does it because of the neverending mission.
1:42 “Your mother was more of the plan-ahead type.” I can’t believe Batman gets his preptime ability from his mom.
Dear lord the prep time is genetic
@@eeveesmusic1938 While she prepared dinner, her son prepares justice!
Funnier part is that in the flashpoint continuity her mother [spoiler ahead]...
...goes insane when Bruce dies and becomes the Joker of that timeline, complete with Harley-like lower, Yo-yo (briefly seen in the animated movie).
@@GiacomoSorbi Bothe Bruce and Martha would be traumatized and happy as the same time, if they get to see eachother in the flashpoint.
Really wished Thomas would have went with them because I want to see Alfred's reaction.
alfred would have been supriced for a few moments, then asked thomas if he still liked tea. perhaps alfred would have recounted evrything he did for bruce since that fateful night.
They ruined this nice story later when it turned out Reverse Flash saved Thomas Wayne at the last minute and brought him to the main universe. Only for Thomas to suddenly become a villian and team-up with Bane which leads to Bane killing Alfred.
@gokus789 sounds like a writer shamelessly retconning another writers story for the soul purpose of misusing their character horrendously. though if its the same writer then idk what you'd have to be on to make that decision.

@@gokus789 This is one of the reasons why I never really was into American comic books.
What i like about thomas wayne vs Bruce is that Bruce does not kill to honor his parents and because he doesn’t want to become a murderer who will kill the parents of someone else. Thomas kills people because of the death of his son. Both are doing what they think will honor the dead one but what they do are the total opposite and I just think it’s a neat detail that the writers thought about.
Underrated comment.
Beautiful.
No, he doesn't murder because he isn't murderer. He doesn't manslaughter anymore only because there is Red Hoon II who is "Batman but lethal", before that he killed a lot random goons, as a last restort and what not.
@@FirstnameLastname-my7bz I have a stroke reading this
Isn't the actual reason given by Bruce is because he is mentally unstable and afraid that he would become a killing machine like the Joker if he gets a taste for blood? I personally translate Bruce talking about why he doesn't kill the Joker as him murdering any criminal, even those who did petty crimes and don't deserve death, and use justice as an excuse when in reality it's just Batman's craving to kill.
@@Nakura-dj8mg yes i also believe that if bruce kills, he will not be able to stop, he said so himself i think in the red hood movie but he is also not killing because he believes his parents wouldn’t want this for him.
a world without Batman is.... unacceptable. so, it is time Waller made a new one
where is terry when you need him lol.
the thing is Thomas doenst understand. He thinks Batman is his legacy reflecting on his son but its the other way around. He is Thomas Wayne being batman, but his son only holds Bruce Wayne as a mask and the real man IS batman.

it seems on the comic cover with the father batman had him standing over bruce and his wife in the alley. I could be wrong. So i'm guessing she wasnt the joker in this reality
"Come with me, father. Please."
To think that someone losing their parent at an early age actually has a chance to directly tell them that. I'm torn :(
Thomas Wayne make a really bad ass batmen.
Yeah but hi use gun
@@ALMIGHTY_EDIOT Well, he isn’t Bruce. So the No killing rule and guns aren’t that much of a big deal to him.
@THE UNWRITTEN GOD - Thomas Wayne Batman gets it done.
The difference between Martha Wayne Joker and Prime Earth Batman's Joker is that Bruce's Wayne's Joker had no rhyme or reason, had no real connection to Bruce outside of their mind games.
Martha was Thomas' wife. He should have killed her, but at least his reasons for hesitation make sense. Plus, Martha wasn't 100% insane.
Bruce, NOT killing his Joker, is just self-righteous, ego stroking.
Thomas would have ended Bruce's Joker. Like a real hero would.

I may not have read the comic, but I did see the movie. It broke my heart and the fact that they have an opportunity to meet makes me even more emotional. It would have been awesome to get this moment animated while Kevin Conroy was still alive.
I like to think he stayed as Batman so he could teach his son and be a good father to him. He answered that bat signal so he could be a good example to him

There is one constant, consistent, unchanging fact about good parents: they want the very best for their children.
"please I need it to be different now..things are different now.....I never planned for this I never planned to be happy"
Certainly I was not the only one who read both Batmans with Conroy's voice in mind with Thomas having a somewhat deeper tone.
Thank you so much for this information. I read the Flashpoint novel for the first time a few years ago, but this continued the story and was cool to see in the video. I have to check it out. Flashpoint Batman was one of the coolest versions of Batman ever. The artwork was nice too. Thanks again. Keep doing your thing.
Just imagine there is an alt universe where Thomas came with them through the cosmic threadmill.
Thank you Sir for breaking this comic down, this was definitely a tear jerker, makes me think of my dad and how he picked me up when I fell especially as how the both of us served in the military (same path). I'm truly thankful 🙏🏿
Same
What I find interesting is that this Bruce's dad is so similar to Flashpoint Thomas that he knew what his dad was talking about when he asked about what he said in the cave when he was younger
Well it after all isn't your typical alternate universe where everything changes. As pointed out by the flash, this was a direct result of interfering with the original timeline, by saving his mom, so while some things may have been changed prior to that point due to the properties of time travel, the flashpoint timeline is pretty much just based on the original timeline
In frame 3:46/4:04, is that the Reverse Flash running behind them and without a cosmic treadmill?
Bruce only is enough to handle entire JL, what if he team up with his father
An unhinged Bruce can rule the multiverse without Thomas just look at the Batman who laughs.
Thomas was a doctor so his skills aren’t the same as Bruce’s. He never got the same level of training and doesn’t need it because guns. Him going for the kill actually makes him less of a threat since he doesn’t need to deal with many reoccurring foes and rarely fights super-powered enemies in Gotham. Bruces foes had time to perfect their art along with him taking an active role in the League. Thomas is closer to a weaker Punisher in terms of combat effectiveness and would only serve as a weakness to Bruce in a combat where guns aren’t effective.
Gotta be for real here, I am not a dc fan, but this shot here of Bruce's father "3:31" He is truly like a bat spreading its wings as far, as wide, and as tall then ever before. Just running into the light with two batrang in each hand shouting "We rise" is just a masterpiece of art. I mean look at the bottom image he truly does look like a bat going into a army to fight, that is a badass shot right there.
Don't read comics anymore, but that's awesome. Would love to see a really good director and really good actors do this in live action.
why is so so hard for people to just make a show like this
We need this in live action with batfleck and jeffrey Dean Morgan Thomas Wayne. Different Barry Allen though
Joker, 3 months from the last panel: "What's wrong, Batsy? You never take calls, you didn't set up a voicemail, and you don't visit anymore!"
This popped up on feeds to match my interest
Thanks for the sound of the pages as you flipped
Did not realize I miss that sound until I heard it here
Good story and great telling of the event
It's sad that after that the writers decided to completely ruin Thomas Wayne character by putting him in prime earth and making him cooperate with bane, wich led to the city of bane storyline and he was indirectly responsible of Alfred's death
A pity
They should’ve left his story at this, a good ending.
3:45 *looks at zoom trailing behind them* huh....wonder if he has anything to do with this
I'll be honest, I didn't see that detail till I red this comment. Kinda spooky.
@@ivanbond5209 yeah, he likes to do that
When Bruce decided not to quit being Batman, and instead propose to Catwoman, Thomas found out and decided to force him into quitting by working with Bane, which led to Catwoman leaving Bruce at the altar and the death of Alfred.
yeah it's that run isn't it?
Ain’t that smiley face button related to the darkest knight?
I thought it was watchmen
@@alexsung3117 it's from watchmen. It was from the doomsday clock comic
@@Vainner The blood-dripped smiley face is the first and most blatant recurring image of Watchmen. I don't know if the button in this was created by Dr. Manhattan but it wouldn't surprise me; the original was the icon of the Comedian... and the blood on it also belonged to him. Jon would have respected Blake since flawed as the man was he had the sheer brazen balls to call out Ozymandias and Jon himself and have a point both times.
1 Batman is bad enough… imagine 2 Waynes… Hardboiled, stoic, Psychopathic Batmen.
Well. The story of batman sort of comes full circle, but being that it's batman I'd simply hope he'll learn to trust others to help him out without having to do everything himself. Trust others more than he already does, especially his bat family. That way he's able to actually be a father to Damian but in his own way. As it's been revealed and said many times over, He see's himself as Batman, Bruce is the Mask.
I'm still hoping for a comic that features Element X (the new version) Batsuit paired with a White Lantern Ring, and with this story he'll finally be able to allow himself to Love again, and get over his loss.
I would give every and any wotld possessions to spend a few minutes to speak to my father. I miss him terribly. RIP
That's some powerful stuff. My father means everything for me, if he told me to give up being something I was doing to make him pround, something that was helping people, but destroying me I couldn't know what I would do. And I also have a son.
I like that flash calls Wayne senior Doctor Wayne. Unlike Batman where Bruce Wayne is a mask and his identity is wholly Batman since adolescence, Thomas Wayne got to live a lifetime as a doctor who did no harm before another lifetime of punching crime in the face. It harkens back to when the man was truly good.
For a second i thought that button is a reference to watchmen
1:49 “Like father and son” - Darth Vader
It's really week for them to write Thomas wanted to not want to leave because he has literally no reason to stay. But you know they love making heros unnecessarily tragic
Yo I saw that “whatever Merys role is” line on Twitter and couldn't stop laughing
The Best Ever Batman-Flash story ever made in all rebirth era
Great vid. Keep them going 👍
his happiness is being batman, thats why he doesnt kill
Thomas reminiscing on his son in the cave as he charges into the never ending abyss that is nothing as he screams “WE RISE”
Has got to be the saddest/most badass panel I’ve seen in a long time. You can feel a little bit of everything
Despair, hopelessness, love, hope, happiness, anger, closure. It’s just so bittersweet
i think it was the closure batman needed. to finally hear his dad and the only advice was to find happiness.
Hello again nice video
I see equality runs in the family
really interesting that thomas mentioned that mama bats is the plan ahead type, meaning dad is the brawn and bruce is the best of both worlds
Bruce shouldve went "Well. Dad used guns..."
Thomas frees Bruce from the alleyway, he was finally allowed to leave and move on.
With them saying "We can save you!" and Thomas replying with "You have", I think that was the inspiration for the Flash movie in which Barry says "We can't bring you back, can we?" and Bruce replies "You already have".
But in addition to Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne in that movie, as he was stitching himself after the fight with the Russians, he had a smile on his face showing that he missed being Batman without realizing it. But imagine how he would feel if his father told him to give up being Batman and find happiness. It makes me think of "The Dark Knight Rises" when Alfred said he never wanted him to come back to Gotham and had that fantasy in Florence in which Bruce would be sitting at the café and the end of the movie makes it real, showing Bruce finally found peace. Even Alfred said he thought of how Bruce would have a couple of kids. I hope that one day Warner Bros. adapts this comic. We need to see Bruce meeting Flashpoint Thomas. We need to see him hearing from his father that he needs to give up being the Batman and finds happiness. Bruce doesn't have to let the Batman die and let someone else take the mantle, but I agree that Bruce would need to retire eventually and live the rest of his life in peace.
Damn, That was sad AF
cheers mate i just balled my fucking eyes out
it seems like a beautiful lie theme from bvs movie where he met his father at his presence of his happiness...
3:00
I literally cried. Thomas Wayne told his son to stop being Batman.
"Find happiness. Please. You don't have to do this. Don't do it for me. Don't do it for your mother. Be a father for your son in a way I never could be for you. Let the Batman die with me."
It hurts my soul knowing that Bruce could have moved on and never have become Batman.
If I ever got the second chance to talk with my father again definitely wouldn't waste the opportunity was fortunate enough to have 8 years with him my strength came from him wasn't the best role model but gave me the morals I really needed was family my father will always have my love an didn't waste my hard work on nothing all I've asked my father for was his Time ❤
This is the Thomas Wayne I love. Not the dumb plot twist of him teaming up with Bane and killing Alfred.
Don’t be Batman, damn that sentence killed me, can’t imagine a world without him 😢
The Man-Bat/Batdad and The Batman together 🖤❤️
thank you for making me cry you bastard. 😭👍
the flashpoint stuff will never not be cool.
one of the best story ever written in comic book history.
we need another Flashpoint about this.. sequel after that
That really is the tradgedy. I think the Waynes's would want Bruce to be happy. Batman is cool, but is killing him
Imagine happening to fight two Batmen at once. Fuck that
Considering one actually is willing to kill you and uses guns???...yeah i would have dipped out of there the son already beats the crap out of you with his martial arts training along with his gadgets that is basically torture when it hits you now you suddenly have his very angry father that uses firearms???....yeah good luck to you bud if you're gonna try to fight him as well😅
Batman is my absolute favourite superhero character
I don't like the idea that Batman can't make connections, find happiness, or be at peace so long as he's Batman and that he has to choose one or the other. Bruce's flaw is that he's stuck on the idea that that's true but it's an ultimatum that only exists in his mind. He already has connections with others that make him happy, his friends in the justice league, the kids he takes under his wing, Alfred, Gordon, Selina. He's the most effective Batman he can be because of his connections and being Batman is what helps him to find some peace, because as crazy as his life is as Batman, he only ever feels worse knowing that other people may loose their loved one too and he can't doing anything about that.
Personally I find stories where Bruce figures that out way more compelling than stories where they present that ultimatum as true
if this was a movie it would put dc on the map
I wanna see batman in this timeline to be a father
He’s one heck of a messenger I can’t understand I would give anything to see grandpa again, but that’s selfish to me, because what about everyone else who misses my grandfather it would be petty if I only could see him
Bruce saw his own father again 😢
Flashpoint Beyond shows the Flashpoint timeline continuing in an interesting way. Kryptonians show up to invade like Invincible style.
Actually this is a pretty darn good summary.
This was emotional 😢 , but i understand why Thomas didn't came
This is wholesome with sorrowful.
Imagine Negan from Walking Dead as Thomas Batman

something about batman ignoring the bat signal hits hard
The saying goes you can't escape your Future or fate it always catches up with you, despite that there's always a chance of something surviving destiny a crack in fate of unimaginable chances Batman's father is out there watching his own family and smiling as he watches them become more than hero's a proud father and best of all his not alone his love and wife is there to smiling and crying seeing her child a man and father fighting for justice and it is also possible one day the family Wayne will be reunited...

Bad idea. Bruce saved a lot of people as Batman. He wins the day with his wits and willpower alone. He can’t stop because his world needs him
I'm actually waiting for the Krytonian Invasion. Glad they kept Dr. Wayne/Flashpoint timeline. Uniqueness in its own way.
Yea I’m dead inside. It’s a fucking book. And then the Next issue came out.
Thomas' last line reminds of me of Vader and Luke at the end of ROTJ
Even if Bruce doesn't do it for his parents, he should still be Batman to make Gotham a better place.
batman is one of the characters where the death of his parents is the most important event of his life, not only an event to make the character become a super hero/vigilante/villain/etc. Its never forgotten and when it comes in the spotlight, it shows.
I remember the well scene not from a comic but from the Batman trilogy
I remember when Thomas Wayne shot Zoom. I thought he was dead but what Zoom did was use his powers to halt the bullet. He had a hole in his head but he was still alive. I thought that was a pretty clever writing. I know that wasn't in this video but it pertains to this whole story.
If he's gonna retire as Batman then finding another person to take the mantle of cape crusader of Gotham will do
Idk but i'm imagining Thomas donning the batman identity if he came to the regular timeline with bruce since he did say he wanted his son to live a normal life???
1:18 Silly Flash. That's not how time works.
Without having read the comic I believe even if Bruce wanted to take his father's advice he couldn't yes he became Batman to honor them however Bruce has developed into a character that just can't let injustices to go one when he knows he can do something about it it's a part of him now.
2:52 I've been in a disassociative state for years now since covid...
Ahh he should’ve went with him. Messed some bad guys up and then have him die saving his grandson
Flashpoint Batman is not Earth-0 Batman's father. The former becomes a villain and worked with Bane to try to (emotionally) break Batman again.
See if this really happened. I believe batman would actually stop.
