When Bruce decided not to quit being Batman, and instead propose to Catwoman, Thomas found out and decided to force him into quitting by working with Bane, which led to Catwoman leaving Bruce at the altar and the death of Alfred.
Thomas reminiscing on his son in the cave as he charges into the never ending abyss that is nothing as he screams “WE RISE” Has got to be the saddest/most badass panel I’ve seen in a long time. You can feel a little bit of everything Despair, hopelessness, love, hope, happiness, anger, closure. It’s just so bittersweet
can you believe this.. Bruce was dark.. super dark character of all DC character yet refuse to take lives, with serious strong sense of justice, calm, wise and compose but that moment he saw his dad. Felt like he just revert back as a kid on that alley where and when his father dies.
With them saying "We can save you!" and Thomas replying with "You have", I think that was the inspiration for the Flash movie in which Barry says "We can't bring you back, can we?" and Bruce replies "You already have". But in addition to Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne in that movie, as he was stitching himself after the fight with the Russians, he had a smile on his face showing that he missed being Batman without realizing it. But imagine how he would feel if his father told him to give up being Batman and find happiness. It makes me think of "The Dark Knight Rises" when Alfred said he never wanted him to come back to Gotham and had that fantasy in Florence in which Bruce would be sitting at the café and the end of the movie makes it real, showing Bruce finally found peace. Even Alfred said he thought of how Bruce would have a couple of kids. I hope that one day Warner Bros. adapts this comic. We need to see Bruce meeting Flashpoint Thomas. We need to see him hearing from his father that he needs to give up being the Batman and finds happiness. Bruce doesn't have to let the Batman die and let someone else take the mantle, but I agree that Bruce would need to retire eventually and live the rest of his life in peace.
I like that flash calls Wayne senior Doctor Wayne. Unlike Batman where Bruce Wayne is a mask and his identity is wholly Batman since adolescence, Thomas Wayne got to live a lifetime as a doctor who did no harm before another lifetime of punching crime in the face. It harkens back to when the man was truly good.
It's really week for them to write Thomas wanted to not want to leave because he has literally no reason to stay. But you know they love making heros unnecessarily tragic
That's some powerful stuff. My father means everything for me, if he told me to give up being something I was doing to make him pround, something that was helping people, but destroying me I couldn't know what I would do. And I also have a son.
3:00 I literally cried. Thomas Wayne told his son to stop being Batman. "Find happiness. Please. You don't have to do this. Don't do it for me. Don't do it for your mother. Be a father for your son in a way I never could be for you. Let the Batman die with me." It hurts my soul knowing that Bruce could have moved on and never have become Batman.
God I was coming here to state that. This was going well and then that story just fked up the entire premise by repeatedly going from one stupid situation to the next. A series of train wrecks but they just kept sending in more trains.
If I ever got the second chance to talk with my father again definitely wouldn't waste the opportunity was fortunate enough to have 8 years with him my strength came from him wasn't the best role model but gave me the morals I really needed was family my father will always have my love an didn't waste my hard work on nothing all I've asked my father for was his Time ❤
I imagine Bruce considering Thomas words “Let the Batman die with me” then he realizes that he’s been doing this crusade for his parents, he’s been kind of selfish for his parents, everything was for them to make himself feel better, he changes his motivation so nobody has to go through what he did as a child. Not because of his parents, not for him, because Gotham needs a defender against people who can’t defend themselves
He’s one heck of a messenger I can’t understand I would give anything to see grandpa again, but that’s selfish to me, because what about everyone else who misses my grandfather it would be petty if I only could see him

I don't know if the button in this was created by Dr. Manhattan but it wouldn't surprise me; the original was the icon of the Comedian... and the blood on it also belonged to him. Jon would have respected Blake since flawed as the man was he had the sheer brazen balls to call out Ozymandias and Jon himself and have a point both times.
Great vid. Keep them going 👍
When Bruce decided not to quit being Batman, and instead propose to Catwoman, Thomas found out and decided to force him into quitting by working with Bane, which led to Catwoman leaving Bruce at the altar and the death of Alfred.
yeah it's that run isn't it?
1:49 “Like father and son” - Darth Vader
I would give every and any wotld possessions to spend a few minutes to speak to my father. I miss him terribly. RIP
Yo I saw that “whatever Merys role is” line on Twitter and couldn't stop laughing
its just funny how batman's dad is also a batman 🤣
I rushed to find this vid! Truly captured the batman essence
This is the only way that Batman can really die...In a Thomas Wayne request...
cheers mate i just balled my fucking eyes out
Joker, 3 months from the last panel: "What's wrong, Batsy? You never take calls, you didn't set up a voicemail, and you don't visit anymore!"
i think it was the closure batman needed. to finally hear his dad and the only advice was to find happiness.
Imagine Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Batman Flashpoint and Ben Affleck as the regular Batman in the same movie.
his happiness is being batman, thats why he doesnt kill
that was an amazing ending i actually didn’t expect that
Thomas reminiscing on his son in the cave as he charges into the never ending abyss that is nothing as he screams “WE RISE”
Has got to be the saddest/most badass panel I’ve seen in a long time. You can feel a little bit of everything
Despair, hopelessness, love, hope, happiness, anger, closure. It’s just so bittersweet
1:49 This panel goes hard.
Hello again nice video
can you believe this..
For a second i thought that button is a reference to watchmen
To be honest, this is one of the best Batman stories that i have read in the Comics in 2017.
The Man-Bat/Batdad and The Batman together 🖤❤️
thank you for making me cry you bastard. 😭👍
This is the Thomas Wayne I love. Not the dumb plot twist of him teaming up with Bane and killing Alfred.
it seems like a beautiful lie theme from bvs movie where he met his father at his presence of his happiness...
Thomas frees Bruce from the alleyway, he was finally allowed to leave and move on.
Thomas: "Son I....need go get milk."
Damn, That was sad AF
The Best Ever Batman-Flash story ever made in all rebirth era
That's some powerful stuff. My father means everything for me, if he told me to give up being something I was doing to make him pround, something that was helping people, but destroying me I couldn't know what I would do. And I also have a son.
3:00
I literally cried. Thomas Wayne told his son to stop being Batman.
"Find happiness. Please. You don't have to do this. Don't do it for me. Don't do it for your mother. Be a father for your son in a way I never could be for you. Let the Batman die with me."
It hurts my soul knowing that Bruce could have moved on and never have become Batman.
1 Batman is bad enough… imagine 2 Waynes… Hardboiled, stoic, Psychopathic Batmen.
Batman is my absolute favourite superhero character
On hand, Batman should listen to his father. On the other hand, the city needs him.
I liked this, but it was revisited again by Tom King. That story ruined a lot of what we have seen.
yup, i'm not a comic critic but that was the worst storyline I've ever seen, the dumbest comic ever.
God I was coming here to state that. This was going well and then that story just fked up the entire premise by repeatedly going from one stupid situation to the next. A series of train wrecks but they just kept sending in more trains.
@@tenjenk Yeah, I know. I feel that strongly about it too.
Thomas Wayne became Batman. Also an alcoholic who is in his middle age, for some reason he is still ripped and angelic.
If I ever got the second chance to talk with my father again definitely wouldn't waste the opportunity was fortunate enough to have 8 years with him my strength came from him wasn't the best role model but gave me the morals I really needed was family my father will always have my love an didn't waste my hard work on nothing all I've asked my father for was his Time ❤
one of the best story ever written in comic book history.
I see equality runs in the family
I imagine Bruce considering Thomas words “Let the Batman die with me” then he realizes that he’s been doing this crusade for his parents, he’s been kind of selfish for his parents, everything was for them to make himself feel better, he changes his motivation so nobody has to go through what he did as a child. Not because of his parents, not for him, because Gotham needs a defender against people who can’t defend themselves
This is wholesome with sorrowful.
He’s one heck of a messenger I can’t understand I would give anything to see grandpa again, but that’s selfish to me, because what about everyone else who misses my grandfather it would be petty if I only could see him
I feel like the thomas batman would've attacked bruce and flash mistaking them for intruders
also for the fact last time Thomas saw bruce was when he is a kid, so it doesn't make sense for him to instantly recognize bruce.
GP on the grind
The fact that Thomas tries telling Bruce to stop being Batman and just go and find happiness is gutwrenching.
always thought it was cool that no matter who dies in that situation a Batman would be born, they should do one for his mom now lol.
