Well, he admitted in a interview that the story came from him. However, he didn't know which characters to use, so he asked Editorial and gave him a list of characters that he could use (and kill). So, I personally blame King and DC editorial and the fact that both didn't apologize for this still makes me angry. Thank God for Joshua Williamson and Jeremy Adams for retconed this story out of continuity.
Tom king problem is that he wants to be like Alan Moore , he's always trying to deconstruct characters , and his characters are just there to push the plot cause he has no regards for the characters he's writing
First off, never ever let Tom touch Batman again, second if WB had judt adapted the actual Flashpoint storyline they could've made serious money, likr imagine a scene where Gal's Wonder Woman cuts off the head of Amber Heard's Mera after the Johnny Depp trial - the movies would made a billion just off off that alone. Lastly, once again - Tim Drake is disrespected and disrespectfully underrated.
The best ending for him was EITHER dying with the Flashpoint universe OR telling Bruce he wants him to be happy, and Bruce finding happiness while still being Batman.
Hell the Flashpoint movie ruined Flashpoint Batman for me. Mainly the voice acting and art style he had. I haaaaate the art direction of Flashpoint Paradox. Those Jowls. That reddish looking suit. The 5 o’clock shadow on the jowls. He LOOKS like he smells. But comic Flashpoint Batman, he was dope. Fun design. I understand that movie was most peoples first and even only experience with flashpoint and flashpoint Batman. But that movie doesn’t fully land for me. In fact, I often see it as the beginning wind up for when I stopped digging the DC animated movies, while Justice League War was the swing.
I never was a particular fan of the Flashpoint Batman cause with the fact that Barry's actions created differences both in the past and the future you could basically shape Thomas in whoever you wanted. Normally i would say that doesn't make any sense that Thomas is so skilled when it comes to combat skills and firearm use but, since Flashpoint changes both the past and future events of a universe, it makes sense in this case. As for Tom King is a terrible writer, he doesn't write scripts for the characters, he adapts the characters to his scripts. The only reason why people appreciate stories like Human Target or Strange Adventures is that they don't know anything about these characters, characters like Adam Strange, Mr.Terrific, Ice or even Martian Manhunter. That's why a lot of people don't like his Batman run or Heroes in Crisis, cause Batman and Wally West are popular and have lots and lots of fans. Up in the sky was a good story but it had a lot of problems like that entire Superman/Flash run issue that was a series of splash pages flooded with baloons from a 5 year old girl that speaks in a more refined and proper way than Morgan Freeman
Tom kings Batman run will remain one of the worst things I’ve ever read in my life. I liked that he was moving Batman’s story forward with him getting a wife that fits him the kite man stuff was good but I mean the worst ending ever to a string along story
So Thomas Wayne wanted batman to stop being batman and be happy….yet he…stops the wedding between Selina and Bruce while other characters believe their marriage would lead to him stop being batman…him being left on the altar leads batman to further spiral and become worst which results to him beating Mr freeze to death. Then after that he allows Dick Greyson to basically die furthering making batman spiral and getting rid of his happiness puts him in nightmare scenarios that don’t discourage bruce from being batman by saying see how happy you’d be without batman but just does random nightmares then after the desert experiment doesn’t work he becomes the batman of evil gotham and decides to…kill Bruce’s father figure instead of just killing all criminals who’d make it necessary for him to be batman… like his goal and his actions contradict each other
9:30 So this guy writes for DC's all-time biggest character, but he isn't even aware that the main DC universe hasn't been called Earth 1 in over 40 years? Aren't these people supposed to be aware of at least the basics of the lore behind the fiction they've been hired to contribute to?
Real list, coming through! 10)Leslie Thompkins 9)Jim Gordon 8)The Left Half of Two-Face 7)Lucius Fox 6)Rupert Thorne 5)Alfred 4)The Right Half of Two-Face 3)Batman 2)Man-Bat 1)Abner
Bane breaks Batman. Warner Bros and DC Comics full on deconstruct the hell out of him and turn him into a Frankenstein's Monster of some of the character mixed with awful "who wrote this shite" ideas. It seems this applies to non-Bruce Batmen as well. I think we can agree which is worse.
The only good thing about that flash movie is super girl and Michael Keaton and zod sometimes which is so confusing when this is supposed to be a flash movie
Because Tom King served in the military, I think he believes he's Batman. It's like Frank Miller asked him, "If Batman could be anyone, why does he have to be you?" Also, He's a simp. And that's how he wrote Batman.
While it was terribly executed, I believe that they could have made putting Thomas Batman in the mainline stuff at least tolerable. Like, having him remind Bruce of his desires but Bruce wanting Thomas to have a normal life like before he was Batman refuses to do so leading Thomas to have a discussion with Alfred, his grandson, and "grandsons" about how to convince Bruce to give up the mantle where Alfred would, as only he would, say in a sarcastic style tone that he tried at first but like his father, he's as stubborn as a mountain in such matters. Thomas would end the talk looking at Damian asking if they want Bruce to ever be happy and if they'd be willing to do whatever it takes placing a look of contemplation on the four brothers which Dick, Jason, and Tim would almost immediately decide that Bruce is happiest as Batman while Damian would be 50/50 on it as he would want his entire family to be happy and somewhat normal. Meanwhile Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian would tell Selina that Bruce deserves his share of happiness and she makes him happy while telling her that the marriage wouldn't weaken him as he'd have more of a reason to be Batman and have the wedding happen anyway, after some time, have Bruce and Selina have a little baby who they would then name Helena.
Tom king is one of the worst things to happen to the batman mythos. I might have a bigger negative bias towards him because of what he did to Nightwing but man what he did to flashpoint batman is criminal
See I wouldn't mind Flashpoint Batman and Martha in the main universe for a short time. You just have to write it well. But to do this shit that I'm seeing is Insane
To be honest, I would have been interested to see what DC would have done with Flashpoint Batman if he actually come with Batman and Flash during the events of The Button. What kind of relationship would he have with Bruce and the rest of the Batfamily. He was from a different universe, but he was still Thomas Wayne. And maybe, after a little while, his wish for Bruce to stop being Batman could have actually happened, after Bruce marries Selina. But unfortunately, this isn't what happened. Such a shame. His whole character have been completely ruined with City of Bane.
This was the worse decision. I'd imagine fans were insanely pissed at King's "AMAZING" plot. Dear lord, this is why I don't bother reading Comics anymore because of this... or how the DCMU handled the Flash movie. Just more trash all around!
Take Robert Pattinsons Batman (or any younger batman) and compare them to Kevin Conroys (or any OLDER) Batman and you’ll see just how much growth Bruce endures from the moment he puts on the mask. He learns to embrace hope, family and even to trust the people around him. Batman goes from an angry, vengeful vigilante who just wants to hurt people to a father and friend who has faith he can save Gotham from itself
God why did you remind me about the wedding It's so STUPID that Selena left her relationship with Bruce because he'd be HAPPY with her LITERALLY "BATMAN NOT ALLOWED HAPPINESS" AS AN ETHOS.
Honestly, I actually WOULD put Kathryn Kane over Tim in raw combat skill. Tim is a detective first and foremost, so his physical capabilities are second to his mental game. Kate has police and military training as her background, on top of her Bat escapades, and being older than Tim but still in good health means she's just naturally gonna be a better fighter. That doesn't mean Tim is weak, but Kane is just better as a fighter. Tim would wash her in chess tho
they could have easily saved it too by having Alfred’s death be too far a move for Thomas Wayne and he could betray Bane and his group. Then they could’ve decided if they really wanted Alfred to die or be saved by Thomas.
Because they ruined the flashpoint batman. I now prefer the Earth 2 version of batman. He is also thomas wayne but he remains cool the whole time. It's the new 52 stuff.
1:31 that's why I will ALWAYS argue that animation is just the best form to tell superhero stories The animated flashpoint film is one of the best dc movies of all time. Like I just don't get how if Manga and Anime can do this, why can't Americans comics. And NO, you don't need to go back and do all the older stories but picking one of the best runs of the characters would give you some of the best animated TV and movies out there. Still waiting for a faithful darkest night/brightest day movie series Also an animated Marvel Civil War would be fun
Now while I love flashpoint as a story and how it help reset the universe for what should have been the last time in Dc comic history, they did introduce new characters and give us a new spin on how a universe would look if Barry had no powers, Bruce was killed and Thomas became Batman and some other life changing events in Dc comics, this is where these ideas should have started and ended. Dc and marvel like to take one off ideas from the multiverse and then run the idea completely into to ground to extinction and then wonder why the comic book fails and then tries to reboot all over again by telling the same “stories” all over again. That’s the problem with the Dc multiverse and why they did crisis on infinite earths in the first place to get rid of the multiverse, and to give us one main timeline and universe, but instead we continue to get multiversal threats and new multiverse stories that just make the Dc comics universe unbearable and confusing to keep up with. The multiverse concept was originally supposed to be one off ideas to tell a different story about our original favorite superhero’s, but other than that these multiverse characters were supposed to stay in their lane and not try to replace the original superhero or be shoved into the mainline universe to interact with the main universe.

I’d love to tell the Hack Tom King that Bruce is obviously the best fighter - Cassandra doesn’t have the mass. I love the Thomas Wayne Batman. The DCEU ended on a whimper. I had *hoped* Michael Keaton was playing Thomas Wayne, and would’ve sent the message with Barry for him to give to Ben’s Bruce at the end of The Flash, thereby salvaging a happy ending, of sorts. Jeffrey Dean Morgan would’ve been fantastic, he has that level of intensity too. Warner Bros. created the chaos they were trying to avoid.
There was no reason to have Flashpoint batman be the main villain of the run. Bane is a strong enough villain to ochestrate the entire run. I AM BANE was the best arc of that entire run because of it being a reverse knightfall of batman tiring out bane and Bane running through the strongest batman villains all night

Why?
@@theeditingmaniac8475 go read up on the story and you'll see why.
@@antwonsmith8931I don't know it seems to be a catalyst for a lot of change for all the characters primarily Damian and Bruce but it moves the bat family forward granted probably could have approached it differently but.
They could have brought in a new character called the Bat King and that he is an ancestor of Bruce Wayne and he’s a vampire and that he has his own Justice League as monsters.
DC literally can't help themselves milking everything Batman.
They do have other heroes dc just forgets
tom king's batman run was my personal national tragedy

I'm not that versed in Batman but I'm curious. Isn't Batman supposed to be the best martial artist? How are Cassandra and Dick better fighters than him?
9:32 I never saw this….excuse me?! And we let Tom King COOK (until they didn’t)?! Tim isn’t the best fighter in the family, but the BOTTOM?! Under Kate, Helena, Duke, and STEPHANIE? Get outta here. Why do they hate him so much? Not to say King didn’t do so great stuff. Vision, Mister Miracle, that Superman story I can’t remember the name to when he and Bendis switched for a second. But woof. I have PTSD to his Batman run
Tom king scares me that he’s involved in the dcu.
I'm hopeful for a Kiteman movie.
The Human Target was TRAAAAAASH😭
He is just some weird writer with mommy issues. I want my money back like for real, so mad I was convinced to read that run.
I can't believe there's ppl who said it was good. Imo king can't write to save his life. Nothing by him is good
@@dionlackey798 He is just some edgelord that wants to be the next Frank Miller, I mean for god's sake Frank even called him out in PERSON! Nonetheless!
@@slyc5920 really? What did Frank Miller say? I thought I heard something about that though I'm not sure
@@dionlackey798 I'll have to find the video but he called him out for what he was doing to comics. It was pretty great
Jeffrey Dean Morgan should have been flashpoint Batman in the flash. his walking dead spin off with Maggie also released the same year the flash did wonder brothers loves missing out on Monday🤦🏾♂️
The flashpoint beyond event was such a let down I legitimately considered writing a fanfic
Lowkey I dont blame Tom King for Heroes in Crisis. I blame editorial for mandating what happened over what King wanted to do.
@@jimgarcia9824 Id say thet Flash Forward was DC’s apology to the fans but yea i didnt know about that part with King. Okay we can blame him now
Tom king problem is that he wants to be like Alan Moore , he's always trying to deconstruct characters , and his characters are just there to push the plot cause he has no regards for the characters he's writing

Isnt Cassandra a better pure Fighter than Bruce?
Damian is not better than Jason. Neither is Bruce better than Cass or Dick.
@@TheIndulging Damian is better in terms of pure skills. Jason is better in terms of overall stats.
I would argue in terms of pure skills Cassandra is above both Bruce and Dick.
@@NightRunner2099 Jason is closer to Nightwing in skill. Damian isn't in the conversation
The best ending for him was EITHER dying with the Flashpoint universe OR telling Bruce he wants him to be happy, and Bruce finding happiness while still being Batman.
Tom King 👑 should stay away from flashpoint Batman
Flashpoint Batman is what Snyder wished his Batman was.
Then after that he allows Dick Greyson to basically die furthering making batman spiral and getting rid of his happiness
puts him in nightmare scenarios that don’t discourage bruce from being batman by saying see how happy you’d be without batman but just does random nightmares
then after the desert experiment doesn’t work he becomes the batman of evil gotham and decides to…kill Bruce’s father figure instead of just killing all criminals who’d make it necessary for him to be batman…
like his goal and his actions contradict each other
9:30 So this guy writes for DC's all-time biggest character, but he isn't even aware that the main DC universe hasn't been called Earth 1 in over 40 years? Aren't these people supposed to be aware of at least the basics of the lore behind the fiction they've been hired to contribute to?

Bane breaks Batman.
Warner Bros and DC Comics full on deconstruct the hell out of him and turn him into a Frankenstein's Monster of some of the character mixed with awful "who wrote this shite" ideas. It seems this applies to non-Bruce Batmen as well.
I think we can agree which is worse.
The only good thing about that flash movie is super girl and Michael Keaton and zod sometimes which is so confusing when this is supposed to be a flash movie
Thomas Wayne getting Alfred killed is insane, the man he trusted his wife and child’s life with.
It sucks that he wasn’t in the flash live action, Michael Keaton could’ve played him
The thing is, Tom Wayne's Batman wouldn't have worked out in the DCEU, because the main Batman was already a ruthless killer.
I hope they never bring him back, what were they thinking when they made him come back in Tom Kings run 😭😭😭
8:20 let him get up😂
Because Tom King served in the military, I think he believes he's Batman.
But to do this shit that I'm seeing is Insane
geezus, they freaken hate everything related to Batman nowadays
It's wild I've never seen a single person have so many W takes. Phenomenal appreciation of the medium and characters 👏🙏

Bruce Wayne story should just end cuz he never changes or evolves and his conflicts always go in circles
Except he has evolved and changed. Post Alfred's death he's grown to be more open with those he cares about. His story is constantly changing
Hes been changing since his conception from the 40s. What stuff you on.

God why did you remind me about the wedding
It's so STUPID that Selena left her relationship with Bruce because he'd be HAPPY with her
LITERALLY "BATMAN NOT ALLOWED HAPPINESS" AS AN ETHOS.
Why do they be hating on Tim as if he wouldn’t whoop all they ass except probably Bruce and nightwing he is the second prodigal son
Flashpoint Batman is the classic example of “Look how they massacred my boy.”
they could have easily saved it too by having Alfred’s death be too far a move for Thomas Wayne and he could betray Bane and his group. Then they could’ve decided if they really wanted Alfred to die or be saved by Thomas.
Because they ruined the flashpoint batman. I now prefer the Earth 2 version of batman. He is also thomas wayne but he remains cool the whole time. It's the new 52 stuff.
1:31 that's why I will ALWAYS argue that animation is just the best form to tell superhero stories
The animated flashpoint film is one of the best dc movies of all time.
Like I just don't get how if Manga and Anime can do this, why can't Americans comics. And NO, you don't need to go back and do all the older stories but picking one of the best runs of the characters would give you some of the best animated TV and movies out there.
Still waiting for a faithful darkest night/brightest day movie series
Also an animated Marvel Civil War would be fun
The only dtime they did him justice after Flashpoint was in The Button
Bruh Flash is the hero that has a big heart. Man, he even made Batman cry. 😭
Those comic event are crazy…
Tim gotta get some better representation
Hey Flashpoint Beyond was a decent story for Thomas.
Lore of DC RUINED Flashpoint Batman momentum 100

Tom King's Bat-Family ranking failed to account for Bat-Mite, truly a fake Batman fan.
I SO wanted to see 'Neegan' play 'Daddy Bat' when I saw him as Thomas Wayne, and knew that the Flash movie would be a version of 'Flashpoint'......insert 'Disappointed' meme here 😏
It’s almost like they hate Batman
The way you summarize Tom King's run on Batman, it certainly sounds like almost everything I dislike about Tom King's Wonder Woman run was not only present there but magnified by ten! I get that Tom King's comic books sell well, especially be today's standards, but why do DC editors give him such a loose leash. Will his comics book sell worse with better continuity and consistency?
Another W vid from the goat, I agree with everything you said.
